Sad Wah Sad Wah Sad Wah.

I'll take the heat over this past winter, A-N-Y-T-I-M-E.  Besides, I'm working on building up a good base...Evil

Never hear US complaining out here about the weather.  We will report on it occassionally, (when we have some), but for the most part just a routine 77 to 84 degrees with approx 40% humidity 330 days a year, then an occasional 95'er or 99'er to just remind us what hot can be.

But somebody's got to do it..

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 72 degrees. Going up tp 90 today with sunshine. I love the summer.

Today is a busy day I have some chores to do and a project to work on. I will be inside most of the day. I usually go out in the morning when it is cooler. It's nice to sit out and watch the hummingbirds at the feeders.

Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Morning guys.  Quick stop over as wife has a honey do list for me.  I see where both Roger B's layout was featured in CTT and Dougdagrump's 3railers was in the 'other magazine'.  Have yet to read either, but hope to do that today at some point.

Morning prayers/reading done and time to hit the list.
God Bless,
Dennis

Let me get this right...there's an "other magazine"...Confused  Nobody tells me nothing Dunce!  I'll never get to read about Dougnotta's triumphs in SANDY-EGGO. Disapprove

Banks - Make sure you stop and wave in a real exagerative manner. I'm not leaving the dock today with temps feelin' like 110!  Headin' down to tinker a little with the boat before it heats up too bad.

dbaker - We had you all jealous over our 3.6 shaker last week.  It was felt in 4 whole states.  The local news finally stopped talkin' about it.

Good morning

Overcast and humid going to the 90s.

More rain and storms forecast kind of unusual for end of july. By now most everything has dried up. Little round Os for breakfast. Grannys new lens is working like it was intended, now if she can overcome the post op issues all will be great for her. Have a super weekend.

Mornin' All.

The other half is out da door with a few other hens hittin' some "garage sales" this morning. They go over the listings to the extent that it probably looks like Eiesnehower's staff planning D-Day. Whistling Oh well, finish this up then it is back out to a nice quiet patio with another cup of coffee. Approve

Comic-Con brings out some interesting people but I guess it could be worse. Just think what it would draw for a "fill-in-the-blank" political convention. Pass the barf bags please.

3.6 ?, that doesn't even qualify as a good foot massage. If it was in D.C. it surely was felt in many more states than four, confusion being near the top of the list. Wink

Time to go refill the mug then go commune with mother nature. Approve

Good morning all, just a quick check in here.  Hope everyone is OK.  Had a great day yesterday with the grandson at Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.  It was the first time he had ever seen one.  I'm off to the TCA Western Div. train meet now.  Hope to see some old friends and run some trains.  I got a phone call on Thursday from MTH that my Z4000 transformer has been fixed and is on the way back to me.  Have a good day all.

Home for the lake house for a few.  On the way to Mom's after a shower.  Loaded 4 bails of insulation [6 rolls to a bail] that was stored under big metal boat shelter.  Bet it was already over 100 defree in there.  Was soaked when finished.  Took it back to Home Depot.   Will get lose kind and blower [blower is rent free].

Caregiver called and Mom is asking for me.  Taking Cathy and Frankie with me to see her.  Hospice nurse says she is waiting for me to come see her and then die. Confused  We'll see.

100 today and dewpoints over 70.

Later.

Afternoon all!

Getting warm here as usual. Working on the minilathe this morning, replacing a broken power switch and replacing the carridge and cross-slide metric lead screws with good ol' American (0.001 inch increments) screws and dials (sorry John B - but Pres Regan put us back on the path of American Standard righteousness many moons ago). Having the metric leads did not really affect me that much as I measure everything with digital calipers anyway - but having the 0.001 increments on the dial will make things a little easier. Then off to get a haircut (do not know why - I am subsidizing the rest of you that have hair on top of your heads).

Looks like weather will cooperate and we can take the boat out tomorrow for some wakeboarding. Fife - do ya' need a tow?

Chief - so sorry about your mother. This is a tough time for the family and when one stops eating as you noted a couple of days ago the end may be near as the organs start shutting down. Prayers for your family and your mother. Angel

Watched some NASCAR qualifying this morning. Good races this weekend.

Roy - Nyope!  No tow needed...today.  Actually felt quite nice down on the water, just didn't have a crew (babysitting).  Trying to isolate a power drain on the batteries (lots of aftermarket stuff from previous owner).

Chief - Angel.

dougnotta - The more I read in my sailing mags, the more I want to visit SANDY EGGO.

You could easily spend several days wandering from marina to marina ogling the boats. But be careful, you might not want to go back home. Big Smile

 Hello all,

Been a little while since I posted on the forum.  It has been a very busy summer so far and it looks to continue.  In mid June our granddaughter that just graduated from HS moved in with us in order to commute to a local school in the fall.  She wanted to get a job, but that has not worked out to well.  Even though I know a lot of business people, there are just no jobs available in our area.  We do enjoy having her with us, but it has made some changes in our life style.

Not a whole lot happening on the train front.  Planning on doing a Christmas layout this year for the first time in quite a while.  Still volunteering at the National Toy Train Museum and The RR Museum of PA, one day a week at each.

Just don't find much time to sit in front of the computer like I once did.  I try to keep up with the email on my iphone, but it's not to good to post on the forum.

Hope everyone is having a great summer and keeping cool.

Afternoon all

We returned for a pilgrimage to the Northeast, in the Berkshires.  Stopped at several shrines and you guys were in my thoughts and prayers.  Especially Bob and Chief’s Mom.

Cut grass then tore down a carport at the fix up house.  Going to remove the old flat roof off the garage.  Estimates range for $500 to $1000 to remove it.  Maybe if I tear it down I could use some of the money we save on train stuff, like a circus train!

Jim – Congrats on the green 718.  I’m still looking.  I have several red 650’s and a red 718, but want to have a green set too.

Going to rest up then go get some concrete for a little project at church

May God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Just enjoying a thunderstorm right now.  At least it will cool us off for a bit.  I will take the snow and cold any day over the heat.  As previously stated, you can only take off so many clothes.  If it gets too cold I can always put more on.

Last night we went to the Olive Garden for dinner to celebrate our daughter's birthday.  She enjoyed it very much.  Today was the show she and the other kids had been working on.  It was very entertaining.

That's it for now.

Now for train news.  Lionel is dropping K-Line.  K-Line is Sand "whatever" that is owned by Bachman.  So K=Line will reappear as Bachman or Williams.  Interesting.

Mom is all over but the dying.  On oxygen.  Might crack her eyes once or twice in 2 hours.  Did smile when heard my voice the first time.  Never said anything but tried a few times.  Cathy said she thought she heard her say, "Frank."  She did take her thumb and put a little pressure on my hand a couple of times.  Frankie talked to her and then just sat and looked.  He took it worse than Cathy and I.  I kissed her goodbye and told her it was OK and she could go.  Stoped eating and drinking.  Body "functions" have stopped.

Good Evenimg from the Jersey Shore,

Back from our trip to the Lancaster area of PA. I hooked my other Brother in Law on this hobby. The weather was HOT. In the high 90's. We had a great time.

I want to thank everyone for your Thoughts, Prayers and Condolences. It really meant a lot.

Sub Bob, May you have a skillful surgeon for your gall bladder operation and a quick recovery. My Wife and her Sister both had them removed. My Brother in Law had a field day with it. "Just because your sister had it done you have to have it done too. You girls are too much."

SJ, My Mom had them removed a few times and she had the same problems that Granny is having, when she had it done last summer. It worked out ok and she is fine. Enjoy your Banilla.

Pat, I totally agree with the coroner of that "Poor Guy" dying from natural causes. Great answer.

Dennis, They played for keeps that day in "The Sack".

Navy Jack, I am happy that you were spared from the tornadoes. I did not know that they found the PT109. That is a significant historical find. I believe that a number of the PT Boats were built in Bayonne, NJ, by Elco.

Joe, Happy Birthday to your daughter and I am glad that the play worked out OK. A friend of mine of Italian decent refers to places like the Olive Garden as "Fake" or "Designer Italian Food". He says it is not the real stuff.

Doug, Have a Safe Trip Home.

Chief, Thoughts and Prayers for your Mom, You and your Family

If I missed anybody, I am sorry, Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

John

Jim,

Thanks.  I got lucky on my green set.  I got a 651G and two 650Gs in one auction for $56.Yeah!!  I like the way the green and red set compliment each other, and I just had to get a 718G to complete that set.Big Smile  I'll have to take pics of my vacation find asap...

Did you get my PM?

I picked up an early 740 Handcar for $17 the other day, so that will likely be Monday's project.  The only thing wrong is half of one of the screw holes is gone.

Hot, humid and sunny here today.  Thunderstorm blew through in the evening.  Cooler now, but still humid.

Chief - prayers for you and your family.

Bob - good that they placed a name on your pain.  Prayers for a quick recovery.

SJ - glad to hear that Mrs. SJ is recovering.

Nope, not going to get to da UP this year.  Just jealous of them who is.  I don't remember who mentioned it, but Traverse City is in troll territory - below the bridge, in the lower pinsula.

No train stuff.  Not even the new issue of CTT yet.  Too hot in the attic to do any running.

All for now.

 Hello all.

Not too exciting of a day but did catch up w/ a good friend.

It would seem that this thing is getting a bit worse every day. Now it seems to affect me even if I just drink water. If only I didn't have to drink or eat until next Friday. Not getting a whole lot done on the cars due to how I feel. Going to try and get up early before church to put the last coat of paint on the suspension parts for the Corvair.

NavyJack - I know that Bob Ballard had gone looking for PT109 a few years back. I think they found some of the torpedo tubes and were fairly sure it was Kennedy's as there was know other boat known to be lost in the area. I guess finding the cannon would confirm it.

Chief - continued prayers for your mom, yourself, and the family

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers guys. Just gotta "stomach thru" this week.

Bob

Good morning all,

It was hot in Indiana Saturday and it is still hot now as I write.  Lucas and I mowed the yard and I edged and trimmed.  Took a nap this afternoon and then washed and waxed the truck this evening.  Wife and I went to late show of "Sorceror's Apprentice".  I have to check the spelling of movies more closely as I thought it was "Soccer's Apprentice".  Boy was I surprised!  Actually it was an entertaining film.  Friday night they had the "real" football at the local high school as "my" soccer girls got pounded by a bad team in a scrimmage.  It is going to be a long season. This heat just wears on you.  I had pancakes and sausage on the dining car for breakfast on Saturday.  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  Vitor had a disastrous day qualifying for the Edmonton race.  Only bright spot was "Swiss Miss" starting 7th, well ahead of the Princess.  See where Montoya is starting on pole for the Brickyard.  Wonder what NASCAR will do this time to keep him from winning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Prayers for the Chief and his family

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy and humid 74 degrees. Going up to 88 today with rain coming.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores and then I will relax. Nascar race from the Brickyard. Baseball game. New CTT mag. to read.  Trains to run. That's a good menu for a day.

Dining car is here with the usual Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Mornin' boys.  Taking my folks to the Maritime festival at HavreDeGrace today.  Being at the waterfront is the best way to beat the heat.  And if it gets too "close", there are plenty of antique shops and canteens to duck into.  And of course, trains.

submmbob - Around here we say "Gut it out".  However, you are taking it to a whole new stratosphere...

cheapclassics - Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa. JPM is totally capable of taking himself out of contention....he don't need NASCAR's help. My 2 cents

Chief - Not sure where the K-line musical chair will wind up.  Someone will get the molds, to be sure.  What's sad is K-line had gone from "novelty" (think Hershey's and Coca-Cola) to player, before tripping up overseas.  At the end, they were producing top-looking trains (I loved the coil cars) at a modest price (compared to the big two).  If Bachmann really wants to be a player, they would serve themselves well by picking up where Maury left off...
