RT, As usual the lame stream media will assist in creating animosity.
Just happened to turn on the TV to the history channel, always thought San Diego's airport was bad but this show confirmed it is the 10th worst in the world.
John, Making any progress on your "outdoor O" reserch. Have you looked at Atlas track ?
Weather broke so it was really nice today. Should be fantastic for the opening day of the Del Mar racing season tomorrow, nice cool marine layer hanging in along the coast so no sun burns.
Fife, You mentioning steamed crabs made me think of where we went when I wasn't much more than a "rug rat". Popes Creek, just a little ways up the Potomac River from the bay. Seems like such a long time ago, hhmmmm, maybe because it was.
for all of our families and friends in need.

Hot & sunny today with a heck of a line of thunderboomers blowing trhough about sundown. Really gusty winds - probably in the 50mph range.
Interesting day at work. Started with a whole plant meeting that features the introduction of the new plant manager. He looks to be an interesting guy - engineering & statistical background. Thinking I was going to have a quiet day to play catch up fron yesterday - WRONG. Started clearing my e-mail and discovered that I needed to be at an all day Western Hemisphere engineering meeting that started at 8am - which was in 5 minutes. One of the early slides in the presentations was a orginational chart of the engineering group. All of a sudden, I notice that my box points to a new boss, who's box does not point to the new plant manager! I now appear to be a corporate asset. I think I have the same job, just a different person to report to. I've suspected that something along these lines was going to happen - just didn't know when or who.
Other attendees to this meeting are from Mexico and Brazil. Some of them were standing outside taking video of the high wind with their cell phones as the thunder storm was blowing in. Apparrently, they don't get this kind of weather at home. Green/black roiling clouds, high winds, opressive humidity, monster lightning. We kept suggesting that they ought to step inside......
Lights just blinked, and sounded like a gunshot outside. Interesting.
All for now.
Good morning all,
It is continuing to rain off and on in SE Indiana. Got a "frog strangler" last night. Did get some practice time in with "my" soccer girls before the deluge. Lucas had a six month checkup yesterday. All good. Did some family items as well last night. Big soccer game tonight. A tie gets us regular season title. Bntruck, used to go thru those "re-organizations" a lot. Usually just shuffled people and never really changed the basic climate, but hopefully your experience will be better. I like the idea of a World Cup party, and I do have the space for about 50 cars (although then there would be no room for actually playing the game....). I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it to "Points East". TBIL after the game. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Quick stop over before heading in. Chief, still praying for you and family and above all, Mom.Brutus, Char stays in prayer too. HOpe the numbers turn around soon and she is 100%.Bob, continue to pray for you.....hang in there!
Had kids sleeping over friend's house last night, so bride and I went to see Inception last night which was a good "mind-game" movie. Then, we went out for dinner and came home to watch the latest Star Trek movie on DVD....cool. Was a good date night.
Chief, one of your great assets has been to reach across and speak to the regular folk and not worry too much about the big mouths that claim to speak for "the people". Just continue to do what is right and it will all work out.
God Bless,Dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a humid and cloudy 70 degrees. Looks like rain any minute. Going up to 84 today with lots of rain.
Today is a busy day. Chores this morning and PT this afternoon. I will get to relax, after that. Not much else new.
Dining car rolled in from "Points West". Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Aloha all. Off to the beach. Took the youngest fishing on a local lagoon figuring he'll cast a few times and get bored. Of course, he hooks his first fish and I ran around like a lunatic to get it off the hook and back in the water. Forgot to take picture. Prayers all around. Brent, glad you're 'free'.

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 75, Partly Sunny, 89% Humidity, going to 90 with a Threat of Severe Thunder Storms.
Going to take it easy today, run the trains for a little, and get ready for a trip to the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania for a few days. It started out as a yearly family day trip about 28 years ago, escalated into a Lancaster/Hershey week long trip, (My 26 yr old daughter refers to it as her favorite vacation and wanted a modified duplication of it right before she was married 2 years ago) to a "guy trip" for my son and I with different guys joining us every so often. This time my Brother in Law Dan is joining us. We are going to stay at the Red Caboose Motel in Paradise, make our visits to Cabella's, Bass Pro Shop (Good evening trips),Pa. Rail Road Museum, Toy Train Museum and The Rough and Tumble Museum, where they are hosting John Deere Days and perhaps a ride on the Strasburg Rail Road.
Jack, You have a great dog. The best of luck with him. I am picking up the recall collar for ours at Cabella's.
Brutus, You are right about the about of Prayers needed. It seems that a lot of us are in the cycle where we need them. Lfe sometimes is not easy.
Doug, The outdoor layout is on hold along with the landscaping. A couple of unexpected things came up. I did look into Atlas Track and that seems like the best way to go.
8ntruck, The situation at work, is it good or bad or a wait and see?
Mike C, We got to plan ahead for the next World Cup and the Party. We got to make sure that I bring plenty of Banilla for SJ.
Navyjack, Great to hear about the car. Weathering, a guy that I work with son is into it. He is real good and he works part time (He is in High School) for a guy that weathers trains professionally. The guy he works for gets big bucks.
SJ, Good Luck with Granny's Surgery. My Thoughts and Prayers are with you. Enjoy the Banilla.
Brent, Sounds like you are making great progress. Speedy recovery.
Joe, Your daughter's future may be so bright that she may have to wear shades. I heard something like that before.
Chief, Thoughts and Prayers for your Mom, you and your family.
While typing this I had a call with bad news from my Mom. A lady who was like a mother to me passed away. They had 6 kids in the family, the 2 oldest boys I grew up with and the oldest, Tom, was one of my best friends. The real sad part is that the 2 oldest boys Tom and Brian both have passed. Tom was killed in a canoeing accident in 1981 and Brian passed away with cancer 2 years ago.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
John
Good morning
Overcast hi 80s today.
Grannys home and sleeping. The doctor said everything went as planned. Tomorrows patch removal will tell the real story. She is really happy with the one already done. So I will stay close and just relax..Have a great day. John i'm sorry about your friend, there seems to be a lot of souls going home this year....S.J.

Good morning all!
Took son and his buddies out on the boat yesterday for wakeboarding and tubing. Winds kicked up really bad so we decided to quit earlier than intended. Still got a couple of hours in.
cnw1995 Of course, he hooks his first fish and I ran around like a lunatic to get it off the hook and back in the water,

That's funny Doug. I can picture it because we went through exactly the same thing many years back.
S.J. - Glad it is going well with the grandmother.
John - Sorry for your loss.
Just plain hot here although it fell into high 90's vs low 100's. T-Storms predicted for late afternoon for the rest of the week.
Off to the Doc for an annual physical. Had the blood test done last Friday. Stayed up half the night studying for it so hope I have a good grade today!
Regards, Roy
Another very warm day already. I probably won't do much outside or even in the garage due to the heat. Wife and mother-in-law will be going to nail salon, and even though I am on leave, I will have to go to the office today to participate in a video teleconference. It should only last one hour so it will not be too terrible.
As for the ongoing in the media: It seems there are way too many folks stirring up racial tensions. It only makes it worse when it gets down to the school level where kids will be affected. Two of my kids are in elementary school and due to the school having many Air Force kids, it is very diversified. Even with the adult world sometimes making a mess of race relations, I am still amazed how kids don't see in color. They truly see that we're all Americans and part of the human race. Enough from my
RI Jack - An island could make for a very nice railroading paradise; imagine the possibilities. Of course it would be an island where all gauges and scales are welcom.
Hudson - My daughter must be very cool. She has been wearing shades since she was 11 months.
Ole Timer - Are you deal-finding techniques legal? Just kidding. I wouldn't mind learning some money-saving tricks as well.
Good day all,
Joe
Morn-ERR afternoon boys. Power shift is throwing off my patterns.

I placed more pics and descriptions on the LIONEL NASCAR thread.
Just a splash and go.....
JimSP.....how you keep up with the kiddies I'll never know. How you stay out in front of them, even more so.
SJ.....was glad to hear there were no snafus with your better half's cataract surgery. Prayers that the outcome is every bit as good as the last one. She is on a roll!
Rich.....I am so sorry I missed the passing of your Uncle. Prayers for him, you, and the family. I should take a moment to be thankful for the health I have, take it for granted though.
HudsonJohn......good luck on the ecollar and the training. I have been astounded with them.....like having a leash where every recall works! My wife and I attended two training classes on the proper, humane, and effective use of them, geared to our particular dogs. As hard as it may seem to some, the ecollar properly used can be the most physically an mentally benign, least violent tool in the dog training bag. Our dogs go wild with absolute glee every time we pull them out because the ecollar always means fun and freedom is in store for them. They run up and sit to be collared without being instructed to do so, and then they bolt for the door, looking at us as if to say "Come on!!!! Let's go!!!!" I loved your post on your annual trip tradition. We have one, but itseems we are more gypsie-like in that we go to different places, all within reasonable driving distance so we don't burn up too much time getting there and getting back.
8N.....work reorgs can be good or bad. Too often it is like management is simply rearranging the furniture to make it appear that they are doing something proactive when in actuality they are not. When done right, there is more control in fewer hands; and decision-making and execution can be far quicker and easier.
Brent......congratulations, but go easy there, Hoss, with your new splint-free world. You don't need any set backs.
Later, gang.
Jack

Good afternoon everyone. John, sorry to hear of your loss. I have a number of non-blood relatives of our family, and in many ways, their loss would be as painful as if they were blood.
Kids did a little violin practice and we have the lessons tonight. Hoping UPS drops off the new strings and bows that we ordered as they will make a big difference. Will be time to order some new violins for the kids soon as they are about grown out of the first ones. Lots of lessons being learned besides music. Teacher is great with kids and she teaches about what they can do if putting their minds to it.
Fife, nice cars. I am sure we will see them soon on the SPF. Perhaps some flat car loads?
Jack, I too get alot of enjoyment out of your posts. Just more evidence of the fun we can have here.
Hope each of you have a great night.Dennis

John Prayers for you know what your going thru I lost my second mom ( a dear lady who my mom and her started there first jobs together at GE and stayed freinds to the end) back about 4 years ago and about a month and a half later I lost my mom so it was real hard for me. Prayers for all that need them
Also wish you all would stop talking about home as I miss it so much just can't afford to live there or go back right now was hoping for Oct but looks more like maybe next Oct. 2011.
Will have truck paid off come Feb and hope to pay off windows about 6 months later. Time will tell but if not maybe april 2012 lol any way working on it little by little
no train related things today so just an easy rest day back to work tomorrow
I've been away from the pot for quite a while. Busy with classes, house and yard work and living as a bachelor while Madge, my sweet wife, has been in England, France, and the Big Apple before she comes home on Friday, July 30th.
I started another post with pictures of the NYC M-497, Jet powered RDC that just arrived on my door step today.
Let me know what you think!!
Mel Hazen; Jax, FL Ride Amtrak. It's the only way to fly!!!
Lawson Farms - I had to think long and hard before I pulled the trigger on that #18 car. But I wanted at least car from each manufacturer, and Kyle's was the only CAMRY. The front of the bumper has a snicker on it (kinda cool).
anjdevil - On the same token, there are no DODGE offerings as of yet. I would have loved to grab a blue deuce.
dwiemer - Actually, I have a PETTY Superbird that I wanted to showcase on a parking lot or garage. Mine got signed by "The King" himself, so I'm not gonna open that package.
Fife,
Those cars look good.
I am stilling trying to find space for the AF layout. I need room for a 5x9 table, but I haven't found a solution yet. I might have to compromise and remove the PW Lionel layout from the ping pong table. I am trying to avoid that, but it is an option.
Good Afternoon/Evening from Hot North East Florida!!
for your loss, and Chief’s Mom, SJ’s better half...I know I missed some..
Been a long day here at the Auto World (John, tell the GUYS I said that...ie: Dickie G’s AutoWorld..)
97F today, very hot...
Not much on the train front, I’m going to try to pack some stuff up tonight but we’ll see.
I have acid free paper and some packaging to protect the good stuff, I do have a lot of the boxes which I need
from the attic. I have to go through a lot of the stuff from the train store as well. So much to do....
I’m taking the cats, which should really be fun!!! Me, Princess and 2 cats in a single cab truck...wonderful!!
OK, check back when I can!
PS Hi, MEL!!!
PPS - Fife, I have a few Superbirds my self....
An early Good Evening
I've been watching tv or PS golf all day, trying to stay quiet so granny could rest. A little after 8 tomorrow morning we will know. I'm glad all this will be over soon. So many trips back and forth and most of them could have been combined into one. Banilla is ready but I think i'm going for the peach tonite. Brutus fire away....S.j.
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,
I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers and words of condolences.
Doug, I am glad that the family is enjoying the vacation. Your youngest probably was surprised more than you.
Roy, Smart move ending the boating fun early. I did not go out this week because of the weather reports. Check out the article about what happened to a sailing class a little North of me. I like the remark by one of the instructors about the weather report and the radar. Click in to the like and go to Monday. www.app.com It is the Asbury Park press.
Fife, Cool cars. You might find the above article interesting also. The kids learned well. The sailors of the future.
Jack, My wife is apprehensive about the collar. I told her that I am going to "research it". I will get it next trip in August.
RT, Good luck with your plans, I hope that they go well. Where are you from?
Rich, Good luck with that move. The princess is going with you. Dickie G's hates us for stealing their techs. They refuse to do warranty work or sell parts to us. Are your ASE Certs up to date?
SJ, I am glad that the surgery went well. Wish Granny a speedy recovery. No Banilla? Peach?? A change is good. I think I will take a ride to the Ice Cream Shop and get me some Oreo Ice Cream.
If I don't have a chance to post tomorrow before I leave, Everyone enjoy the rest of the week.
If any of you guys go to the Asbury Park Press site, click News, Go to this past week, Click Monday, 7/19, and scroll to Belmar, Sudden Thunderstorm. Interesting.
John – sorry for your loss, man.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Hudson#685 RT, Good luck with your plans, I hope that they go well. Where are you from? John
Good evening. Jim, Could you somehow put hinges on it and mount one side to a local wall and have the other with fold down legs? That would allow you to fold the layout out of the way when you need the room. It would limit the number of structures you could put on it, but I am sure you can find a way to make it look good.
Fife, what about getting one of those turntables for the cars that K-Line had out. From what I recall, they were about 6" across and were meant to have a car at a dealership. You could put the whole thing, box and all on it as a show piece....BTW, that is WAY COOL to have a signed package from the King himself!
Tomorrow looks like it will be a long one. Three cases, all back to back, so I will be stuck. That is OK, I am sure it will be interesting.
Prayers out to Chief and family, Char and family, John and family, Rich and princess, Bob and Fife/Fifepup. May God meet you at your need.
Dennis
Dennis,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've also thought of relocating the stuff in my room to the basement and using the empty space to build the layout, but I am not sure if that would fly.
Rich,
Sorry to hear of your uncle's passing. I missed that earlier.
