Front page! Oh boy!
Add safe to that happy 4th.
The Kansas City Star had an article about people modifying fireworks. One result was severe burns and injury, a wall blown 3" off of the foundation, windows missing and all of the cupboard doors in the kitchen blown off. Something like "if one star shell looks good, 10 at once will look fantastic".
Hard to believe that it will be July already in just two minutes......Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
56 minutes, Jack! You better wind up that clock!

Evening all!
Getting ready for the big trip to TN. Got several days of rain here, so that helped the dried out lawn. To fully recover we need about a solid week of rain.
Hope all have a great day tomorrow.
Regards, Roy
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Great game last night as we tied 1-1. I played tolerably ok and we had plenty of subs for once. The team we played had scored 8 goals each in two other games so we were pleased with the tie. No standings have been posted yet, but I think we may be in first place. We play another make up game tonight and then back to one a week for the rest of the season. We start parking at a new site for work today. Could be interesting. I had pancakes and sausage on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 56 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping and I am doing some paperwork and chores. Maybe this afternoon, I can relax. Nice day to spend some time outside.
The 1st of July already. This summr is going fast.
Dining car has arrived from " Points West" and we will have the usual Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Good Morning and Happy July everyone. Actually, today is a day of mixed emotion. While the 29th was our "Family Day", and tomorrow is my son's birthday, on this day in 1988, I was at a fire in which we lost 5 firemen. They were good men and it was tragic to loose them. Because of their sacrifice, many departments in the country have changed strategy with regard to how they fight fires with bow-string roof construction. Most of the guys I was on the department with have retired by now, but many still gather for a memorial service at a park where a monument has been constructed.
Chief, hope you have a great weekend with the pups. As mentioned, the Kong is a great toy for dogs. It looks like a stack of rubber doughnuts on top of each other getting smaller as you go up. The center is hollow. Our dog loves us to put some peanut butter inside and he will play with it for hours.
May everyone have a great holiday weekend. And for Laz, Happy Friday Eve!God Bless,Dennis

Posted this on the June 'Pot...brain fart, sorry, So, I reposted it here...
Morning Guys!
It's my Friday...!!! Have to finish end of month/end of fiscal year stuff, then pack up and head north!!
The Princess is coming with me this time, to spend some time with the family. We're going to NYC on Saturday and going to her GodFather's house for 4th of July activities with the rest of the family.
I'll see my GodDaughter while there! 3 trips to Jersey in 3 months....this is nuts!!!
Things have been relativly calm at the house, and 11 days away will make it even better...I need sometime out...
Not much on the train things, have had no money or time, it seems, that may change while I'm up there, I'd really like to go to the Big Little Train Shop in Somerville. No plans for any train rides, other than going to NYC.
for Lady J, and anyone else I've missed.
Congas on yer anniversary and the Mrs Birthday RT!
Dennis, the profound effect of the Hackensack Five still reverberates...all the building in NJ have signs on roof construction and rightly so. Unless I KNOW it's older construction, my guys are never on a roof. I still can see the video of the Battalion Chief and hear the radio transmittions....sickening.... for our past brothers...
OK, I'll try to check back later...and after I get back HOME!!
Rich

Brutus 56 minutes, Jack! You better wind up that clock!
Good Mornin' Ya'll From Clear and High 50's Taxachusetts,
Another beautiful sunny day in the low 70s for the highs. Lawn mowing and trimming on tap for later in the day. Wife came home last night and it was apparent she once again had parked under a tree and as usual the birds were right on target,,,,,why should a parking decision (hers) create work (car washing) for me? If ya leave that on the car it wreaks havoc on the paint, especially noticeable on dark colored cars.
Well, I reorganized things in the garage beer fridge and counted 108 bottles of beer stashed in there at a cold 35 degrees. Heineken Light, Rolling Rock, Bud, Rolling Rock Light, Stella Artois, Corona, Bud Light Lime, Miller Lite, and one other I never heard of. In addition, there are about 18 Smirnoff coolers in there of various flavors, Mudslide mix, and regular marguerita mix. I don't drink light beer, and there are no Yeungs or Ole Mils for Laz.. Must make a note to bring this beer on the Tardis tonight for the rest of you. The beer accumulation reflects what folks bring over for our cookouts and leave unconsumed. What is with all of the light beer? If it is because people in my realm of acquaintance are weight conscious, they are apparently losing the battle.
Chief......prayers for your Mom. Hope she is doing ok. I have to go watch the video link you provided.
Brutus.....are you insinuating Chief is wrong when he declares we should set all of our clocks to Roseyville time? I have a 1 terabyte Western Atlas external drive to back up my desktop, backs up everything off the hard drive, mirrors everything on the HD, no reformat. We have over 6,000 digital photos, resumes, my/my wife's work stuff.....things we simply cannot afford to lose with a hard drive crash. Back up every night.
Roy......have a great vacation. You have been burning the candle at both ends.
Dennis.....with all of this new found time on your hands, whatever are you going to do with yourself? I'd try mowing the lawn.....right after you get your A/C working. Thanks for the ammo storage tips. My father and I used to have WWII army surplus metal ammo storage cases for our inventory when we were shooting a lot, and my nephew has them now.....a reserve police officer by night.
SJ......glad Granny lay low yesterday. Today will be a different story. Keep an eye on the eyes.
RaySP.....join the club. I could stand to lose about 20. I hope the new neighbors bring a sense of renewal around your homestead.
Fife......well said about those with the luxury of 24/7 armed security making decisions for those who do not. There are those in liberal Taxachusetts more worried about the average citizen with a firearm than those with the illegal ones who use them to make a living.
Brent.....back around 1973 during the Arab oil embargo and gas was being rationed at a max allotment of 8 gallons per fill (imagine the lines at the gas pumps) I was holding down the fort at the homestead while my folks took a 2 week vacation. Each AM when I arose I found half tanks of gas missing from the cars.....siphoned off by thieves, as there were no locking gas cap locks/ filler doors back in those days. Dogs awakened me with growling one night. I quietly opened the upstairs front bedroom window and discharged two 45 caliber rounds into the air following a "Hey you two!" They scattered like lightening, never returned, and I got a couple of gas cans in the exchange.
Banks....my wife had an 70s El Camino, long gone! You and Don are blood brothers.
8n......you are right about the neighbors' irrigated lawns looking much greener from a distance. Theirs is still much greener up close too. They water every AM, have landscapers and fertilizer services. Not a weed or a thin spot. But their landscapers cut their lawns way too short, scalp it. I cut mine down to about 3 inches.
Wonder if Jon has discovered what Wes pilfered from his train inventory.
SubBob mia? Maybe it snowed up there at the scope and he is digging out. Or perhaps on skunk patrol.
RT......are those ABA FA2 Weaver Alcos all double-motored? I am not familiar with Weaver.
Gotta run. Later gang!
Jack
Morning all. Cooler. Dogs are doing great. Geting ready to go to the lake house. Waiting for 10 AM for my Time Warner guy to get to work and help me setup this desk top. Got a few mail issues but easy to fix. I just can not find the fix location.
Glad to see all are doing well. I read and read the "Pot" and laugh at some things. Got to move on. Hope all have a safe and great 4th. God bless all and the USA.
PS: Roy, you watering your foundation? Yes, Texicans have to water their foundations if they get a dry spell.
Aloha all. Happy July. I like your grass-isn't-always-greener analogy, 8n. but like Jack said, unfortunately my neighbor's lawns are awe-inspiring. More to your point - just hired a guy used to work for me 16 years ago. He'd been ever unhappy in his jobs. LOL. Brutus, hope the update went well. You never know with old machines. Except our now-11 yr old Mac still humming away. We counted electronic Internet-connected devices the other night. Too many. May take the youngest to the beach... Safe travels to Roy and Rich

Happy First of July boys! Pretty day here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Birthday dinner for Grandpop this evening (new waterfront restaurant ). Wifey hinting about trip to the boat .
RockIsland ---> 108? Tellyawhatimagonnadooo...
Morning all.
Packing for the big trip.
Jack - with the bunch I am joining this weekend - there is no need for a leftover beer fridge.
Chief - watering away. Got good rains last couple of days. Sprinklers will be running daily while we are gone.
Rich - safe travels to you. NYC is always fun to visit.
Dennis - A lot of things have happened in recent years to improve operations. I work on PS radio networks. Fireground operations is getting a lot of attention the last couple of years. Prayers for the fallen.
Fife - I will be in the boat all week next week - pulling wakeboarders, tubers, and wakesurfers - almost dawn until dusk.
Have a great day all!
Good morning

Getting parts list up to build a new desktop computer ... # 3 son says I could buy a descent used car for what it's gonna cost ....
To all my buddies on here .... be careful out there this weekend and watch that other guy coming at you ! The drunks will be all over the roads . Fifey ... get them before they get us or our kids ! I'm still upset about the world's cup ... not enough fouls called on uganda .. but like I said ... what could you expect ... most of the world hates us right now .
Back for a quick cup....
Roy - Safe Travels to you as well...
I forgot to write that Monday we rode to Beaufort, SC for Harley's Million Mile Monday. 425 Miles round trip in one day.
Went through Fort Stewart, GA then on to Beaufort, SC. Beautiful country, and Had lunch at Sgt. Whites, just off of Parris Island, MCB. That would be SSgt White, USMC, Ret. Staff line cook for the base. Lots of USMC Memorabilia and the food was great. Mya have to revisit, should I find myself back there. Weather was hot, got a slight sun burn on my arms and just missed the rain on the return trip. Too much fun for 1 day...
Ba back later!
SJ...........that's great news on Granny, and her eyesight will continue to improve! One of the miracles of modern medicine, the interocular lens. We're all so glad for her and for you too. "Granny Eagle Eyes" is what you will be calling her within a month.
My prayers for the Hackensack 5, true American heroes.
Jack---I didn't know Wes was here? Was I sleeping? Mr. & Mrs. Buckeye were here last week for a wonderful overnight visit but I sure don't recall Wes ......
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Jon.....I got my Ohio boys confused. Buckeye looks as young as Wes but has him by a few years.
Sorry I've been away for a bit. Rough week last week. Still in the midst of the hiring committee, but coming to the end there.
Off to the Thurs. church service in a bit and then to a meeting.

Sunny and 70s all day, no AC
Grannys doing great, seeing colors and things she couldn't see before. She was amazed at the color on our flat screen TV, I had no idea her cataracts were that bad. She waited for the garden to shade and now shes been out there a couple hours playing in the dirt. lol. Banilla is ready and I picked up a couple other flavors this morning so bring on the thingy...S.J.
Bukeye gets younger with every train purchase...doesn't everyone?
Wes Whitmore Bukeye gets younger with every train purchase...doesn't everyone?
thats what I was told and why I buy them all the time
Good Evening. SJ, glad Granny is doing well. Pray for continued progress. Rich, I have vivid memories of that job. Batt.Chief Sandy Williams was not well liked...for a reason. Roy, one of the key issues that came out of the post investigation was that we had only one frequency to operate on. Units calling in were stepping over the guys inside calling for help.
Jack, with the extra time, I already got the grass in the front cut. Need to get some more fuel for the back. Speaking of the back, tonight, while it was still very sunny out, some deer came into the yard. A buck and a doe got a bit amorous, but fortunately, the kids had stopped looking. Then we gave our son his presents for his birthday. We gave them tonight as the big one was a Lego set and he gets totally focused and would likely ignore his guests tomorrow. Kid had it together in two hours, even though it was for twice his age. Also gave daughter some presents so she had something to play with.
Gotta run as have an early case in the morning. Hope everyone has a blessed night.Dennis
Happy July all,
It was hot as usual out here in NW OK. Today was my son's seventh birthday. We had a great time and a very tasty cake. His gifts were mostly Transformers (on his wish list) and those things are much more complicated now than when I was a kid. It takes at least 40 steps to convert one of them. This will be a four day weekend for me since Sunday is the 4th. I am very excited about the extra time to be with my family.
Regards,
Joe
Hi All,
Were are going to daughter's and son-in-laws (Wolverine Lake only 30mi away) for the weekend with our travel trailer. Need to prepare for Josh's 9th birthday on the 4th. We celebrate it on the 3rd because there is a barge with a fireworks display about 50yds from their beach on that night. They don't mind us camping there because we help set up and clean up. If the display is worth it, all will be invited next year. Anyway the drive will be a somewhat freeway test for the rig. We head Up North to Indian River, MI and Sault (Soo) Ste Marie in a few weeks.
Have a safe and blessed Holiday !
Prayers for all in need. Especially for those "IN HARMS WAY"
We are loaded with "little guys" birthdays.
Demay.....happy 7th to yours. Dennis, to yours tomorrow. And Papa....to Josh on the 4th.
What? No birthday presents with flanged wheels?
