My son's cat would take care of the wabbits in no time at all but I'm afraid she might wonder off trying to get back home. Well I don't like it but I spent the day indoors, hard to breath. Strange how we change. I spent more than half my life without AC now everybody has it. Banilla will stay in the freezer till thingy pickup time. I hope all had a good hump day..

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, Down to 80 with 79% Humidity.
Jack, we will be flying, but the trip my not come off as planned. We have a wedding on Monday 8/9/10, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. My wife wanted to go the week ahead and see Yellowstone, an est. 18hr drive. We learned this afternoon that my son, who wants to be a NJ State Trooper, has been accepted in the Trooper Youth week the week of 8/2-6. So now we may spend the week in Southern Colorado or we may not be able to go at all because another issue has come up.
SJ, I would loan you our pup, Mack, but he would want to keep rabbits as pets. He goes after everything else and his favorite is chasing deer, which I am trying to break him of for fear of him getting hit by a car.
Mike C., I give you credit for playing a game that you seem to enjoy and excell in and enjoy coaching and passing on your skills. They did not have soccer when I was in school and I never played it. I am just understanding it now.

Another mixed bag of weather today. Low 80's with humidity to match. Today's 'gully washer' arrived about 6pm.
The decree has been passed down that the plant's air conditioners would not run this week during shutdown. It is not terribly hot, but it is humid. When you sweat, you just get wet - no evaproative cooling. I'm fortunate in that I'm about 50% in the office and 50% on the floor, so I have a chance to dry out and cool off.
Won three out of four on e-bay today. The automated stock car got away, but I did win a white Frisco box car, a Lionel Lines anneversary box car and a Buick century celebration box car. Think I've got about as much in shipping fees as I do in purchase price on this batch.
I bought the MGA as a basket case. The original engine and tranny were not there. The original 4.33:1 rear axle is, though. That is going to get changed, as I don't want to live with a V8 geared that deep. My friend had a Healey 3000 that was set up for gymcanna. I think he said it had 4:56 gears in it! Really strong off the line.
Seems to me that the Spitfire would do about 83mph with the top down, and maybe 85 with the top up. It stayed dry in the rain above 60mph with the top down.
Our dog is mostly boarder collie. When he sees rabbits or neighbor's cats in the yard, he will chase them right up to the lot line - then stop.

P.S. - I'll point all of our fans to the north east. Maybe it will blow some of this 'cool' air that way.

IIABSDISEI with temps in 80s and the possibility of some rain later in the day. We won not one, but two games last night. It seems as if one of our ties last week was turned into a win when the other team was shown to use an unregistered player. Hmmmm....Combining the win on the field (3-2) with a tie between two other teams ahead of us and we went from fourth to first in the standings in one week. If we win the next two games, we will win the regular season title, which gives us top seed in the tourney. I played adequately and a lot for me last night. I also got an e-mail from my Brazilian soccer student. If she gives me permission to do so, I will post a portion of it here at some point in the future. In one short paragraph, she sums up what the passion for the sport is all about. Good day at work yesterday and perhaps a better one in store for today. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast. TBIL anytime tonight and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

well 74 right now calling for 102 for a high today and tomorrow and then add the humidity down here wow its going to be a scorcher here for next few days anyway. Feel for you all up in the north east as you all don't get that very often so probably worst on you all than us who do get. Hope it cools some for you soon and the humidity drops as well
Not a lot going on here today took today off as came home early yesterday with a stomach virus of some sort and don't feel much better this morning although was feel better last night so figure just take another day and see how it goes.
Got my train engine in from mwinternetauctionsonmain from ebay well yes they accept returns but by time I send it back I'm out about what it probably will cost me to repair it so seeing this is the second engine I got from him needing repair in a row over last year I guess somewhere around there I decided I would not buy any more power units from him and tried to politely inform him of same well got email back from him this am stating he would honor my wishes and block me from bidding on any more of his auctions Tells me he doesn't care about his business as I just said power units to him if he treats others the same way I wonder how long he will stay in business. He gets some nice looking items so just say be careful if you buy from him as it is as is period.
Just taking it easy today hope all doing well will talk to you all later.

Today is a busy day. I have the chores to do and an errand to run. This afternoon, I will go to PT. More walking. That seems to be the best exercise for the legs.

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore. Cloudy/Showers, 76 with 88%Humidity going to 92.
Left for fishing at 5:15, on the way out the wind picked up, got real cloudy, headed back, loaded the boat on the trailer and when we got home we had a light shower. Real cloudy now with a forcast of 30% rain this morning.
8ntruck, You have a well behaved dog. Our 8 month old Lab keeps going and forgets about COME when he gets distracted. He is real good otherwise.
RT, I got a bad feeling about the Ebay seller that you mentioned and I refrained from buying.

It's finally supposed to drop below the 100 + temps here ... crazy heat .... it's hotter here than at my sis-in-law's in Florida ! They say the power plants are running at full throttle and hope our lousey power grid holds up ! Man if that thing goes down there's going to be alot of folks with heat strokes or possible heat related deaths the news commentator said . Over 15 years of saying it's antiquated and they still never updated it in the east .

Ole Timer, Antiquated Power Grid, That is the one thing abou the power company that I work for. The spend the money in upgrading the system. We have won the Reliability Award for a number of years in a row. We have numerous upgrade projects in transmission, distribution and generation. where I live it is not our service territory and we are plaqued with an "Antiquated System" and I have a generator.
SJ, I know what you mean about doctor's and waiting. We should be able to back charge for waiting and you will see how quick we get in.
Green 97 Probe, Jim, If for some reason, I get a bad feeling about a seller, I look at his past ratings. If I find a few negatives or neutrals, I will investigate. A few months back, I spotted a 6464 series box car that was written up well, but vague, that had no bids. I check the seller out and he had some negative feedbacks. I bid opening bid and did not go any higher, because I had my doubts about him. I am glad that I did not pay much. The pictures were not that great and when I received it, it could have been a bait and switch. I gave him a satisfactory rating mainly because of the price, but I added the comment that it was not as described and the one side was splattered with paint. He went ballistic and coountered that I must really be picky and the paint must be minute because he did not see it. Very nasty comment and he never gave me a rating, big deal. I will never deal with him again. Good luck with your "Guest" and I hope that it works out.

Afternoon fellas.Been rather busy of late and haven't been posting much. Last weekend The Q and I got the sunroom floor grouted and started hanging the trim around the doors. Really starting to look like a room now!Family is coming into town this weekend, so no work on the room. Oh well, need a break from it.The wrist is really coming along. I have only a little knumbness in the index finger and thumb now, and the range of motion is quite impressive. The PT doesn't think there will be much more improvement till I can start building strength.RE: EBay sellers. This is why I stopped buying on EBay and restrict my purchases to buy on site. Been burned on too many occasions as both buyer and seller.

Just now beginning to recover from the last week+ of insanity, except somewhere somehow I've managed to booger the back a bit.
Regarding the previously mentioned E-Bay seller, if I buy anything from them it is little piddly stuff. Nothing involving wheels or electronics.
Weather has been yucky for quite some time, we haven't seen any significant sunshine. Second week of July and we still have a very thick soggy layer of May Gray & June Gloom, beginning to feel like a mushroom.
John, Bummer about the trip to Colo, but on the other hand the pride of seeing one of your own putting on the uniform has got to be great. There are some great backroads to travel if time permits, primarily county roads and some of the state hiways, I-70 from Glennwood Spgs thru the EisenhowerTunnel is pretty awesome. That's kinda close to my old stomping grounds, Grand Lake.
Later all, gotta get up and move as the back is starting to knot up a bit.

The temps have moderated here to the mid 80s for the moment, higher temps inland, North, and West though. The humidity remains putrid. I reread Chief's meteorological opinion about how the heat is coming from the Nawth, but the weather guys up here have the arrows pointed toward the NE from the South. He must have been watching his TV upside down. Bad batch of sweet iced tea I suppose.
In the local news.....two missing after a barge hit a disabled duck boat. Tourists from Hungary. Sad.

Recalls work no matter what the distraction for the dog or distance from you, even out of voice range.. Once the dog is properly and humanely trained on them, you almost never have to use them. The dog knows he/she can't blow you off just because he/she isn't on a leash or is 100 yards away or there is something more interesting to chase. Hunters have been using them for about 45 years. Your observation about the dog getting hit by a car ignoring the recall is one of the reasons my wife and I have been using them for the past 11 years. BTW, my wife tried one out on me before she would acquiesce to using one with her precious child dog. The stim is nowhere near what you might expect.

Thanks RI Jack. My wife delivered our third child yesterday afternoon, a 7lb, 6oz boy. He and mom are doing well and I'm posting this from the hospital room. Unfortunately nothing with flanged wheels showed up at the shower (and believe me, I requested); I guess these people believe baby clothes, wipes, etc. are more important than trains.
I hope to post more tomorrow, maybe even a photo.

Ebay buying .... I will only buy engines from TRAINZ on ebay ... 99% of all the train cars and all other accessories I have gotten there .. on Ebay ... were as described or better . I have bought 3 other engines on Ebay ... all perfect in running shape and appearance . Midwinterauctions does NOT guarantee ANY of their engines and it's buyer beware and they will tell you so . I will never pay retail at a small shop anymore unless it's something I must have immediatly and a small item . That's what paypal is for ... security of no rip offs and has worked fabulous for me many times and have gotten my full money back including shipping . Sometimes the seller even refunded my money and let me keep the item to boot . Final thought ... if it's not stated or guaranteed perfect ... don't buy it ! I've saved a huge amount of money on ebay ... and am glad it's available ... no way could anyone get the choices and sometimes rare items anywhere else at such low prices .

Sunny and low 80's here today. Rain in the area, but none here.
Got a bid in on a #225 Alco. I'll be at work when the auction ends, so I can't counter snipe. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow.
Hanging some cement board. One more piece to go, but it is the one with all of the fiddly work around the pipes and faucets - not the kind of work I do well with when I'm tired. The job sure would have gone easier if the local rental places had cement board shears. Scoring and snapping are not as easy as the instructions make it out to be.
I've got a board game called Fortress America. The setup is that the US is getting invaded on both coasts and from Mexico. As my friends and I have played the game, we've made the observation that in order for this to actually happen our Navy would have to be almost nonexistant. NavyJack's comments made me think about this game for some reason.....
Wes on the Ebay front 99% of my dealing are great it just I contacted him (by email) and said I decided to keep it but would not buy anymore motorize items from him His response was"I WILL OBLIGE YOUR REQUEST AND BLOCK YOU FROM ANYMORE BIDDING ! " Sorry but I even called prior and very politely told them I was going to return as it was an inoperative unit ( first I asked for Brian told not in I think he actually doesn't exist as have called before and always told he's not in) and the person I talked to basically said "so, Okay, just return it." You see this is the second item from him that didn't work when I got it I've have been told by others since I posted this that he is very rude so it not just me and they had other names for him not worthy of printing here about his attitude.
As far as Trainz goes top notch #1 and have always said that.
Running late - bedtime. I've finished clearing all my stuff off our old desktop computer so I can give it to my sister. I need to do a defrag to finish it off, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Plan to take it over to her house on Saturday and get her set up. Nice talking with SJ tonight and I had a nice talk earlier with Doug on the phone while he was driving home from the Sox game. Chewy is an indoor doggy, complete with a litter box, but she loves to get outside and run around as much as possible. She is very willing to come in on these hot days though! We had rain tonight, so it will be interesting to see what that does to our temps. Tardis is ready, so let's hit it guys!
Rain all around us, but none so far in the Tree City in SE Indiana. Stayed home and rested based on the radar in the area last night. Could have and should have mowed, but did not think weather would cooperate for as long as it did. Worked on major project yesterday that had been on back burner. If I can get that done, that will eliminate one area of responsibility almost completely and let me concentrate more on the primary tasks I have to do. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it onto "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.

Today is a busy day. My wife decided to grocery shop today. She will be very happy about doing it in the rain. I think I will hide in the train room.
Not much else is new here. PT went well yesterday. I walked 1600 feet. That's over a quarter mile. I was tired. A little achy today.
Dining car rolled in from "Points West". Having the usual Cheerios for breakfast. " Cheerios...Breakfast of real Trainmen". LOL

DEMAY, Congrats on the new BOY. I see trains in his future.
HUDSON, I agree on the Electronic collar. We've used them on our last couple of dogs. They work wonderful. Only one dog after he was trained needed to wear the collar every six months or so as a reminder.
Busy fighting heat, need some rain.
Not much on the train front. Missed some vintage street lamps the other day.
I'll be studying for a colonoscopy on Sunday. I should have time to catch up between "runs".
