Good evening all,
Still at the hospital with wife and son so this will be brief. We should all be able to go home tomorrow. Thanks to all for the kind words and congratulations.
RI Jack - That was a great list of reasons. Fortunately, my wife is seeing me teach our 7 y/o about trains so I believe she already expects a "First Train Set" this Christmas.
Have a great night all.
Regards,
Joe
Aloha all. Made it to Hilton Head island. Dodged downpours amid heavy traffic. Apparently, whenever there is a car by the side of the road on I-26, everyone has to stop to look. That's probably because there's nothing but red dirt and kudzu to look at for 400 miles.

Good Evening All
Warm 80s today with sun.
Doug I'm glad you made the trip safely. Spent the afternoon and evening with the kids, always nice to be together. Banilla is ready for the thingy crew but I've already had enough today. S.J..

Nice day in Saint Louis. Slept in a little bit, watched a bad movie about half-way and then deleted it from the dvr (The House Where Evil Dwelt or something - bad ghost movie), then worked on computers with my sister and bro-in-law for a few hours. Ended up at the comic book store and then out to eat with the family at Steak and Shake. Just watched What's New Pussycat and trying to talk RT into coming over tomorrow to help with the trains
Baniilla sounds great - let's hit it boys!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Did some housework, restained some of the outdoor equipment (mostly decking), and took saucy wench wandering around Indiana. Went on two state roads (11 and 446) that we had been on before. She was ok with it as long as we wound up in Bloomington to visit daughter and grandson (son-in-law on Guard duty). Had a nice visit and ate at SteaknShake. It was a good day. Friday was good day at work and mowed most of the yard Friday night (Lucas finished up Saturday morning). I had pancakes and sausage on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
80's and sunny today.
Went into work for the morning - my try out presses are still broken, so I grabbed time on one of the production press while the grabbing was good.
Brisket sandwich and cowboy chips for lunch, wife had 1/4 BBQ chicken, then we visited all of the pharmicies in town looking for the proper iron supplement she needs to take to get ready for her upcoming back surgery. Ended up having to order some.
Hung the last piece of cement board and some drywall. About two more pieces of drywall to go to get the job finished - finally.
Train stuff - just waiting on my e-bay refugees to arrive.
All for now.
Wow, what a day. Went to an ordination for a friend from church at the cathedral in Phoenix, and found out from her on arriving that our recently retired priest of 25 years passed away suddenly this morning. I've known him since 1987 and Gordon has helped me thru some tough times. Just saw him a few weeks ago and other than more gray seemed the guy I met as as confused college student. Our interim priest's last Sunday is tomorrow and we have called a new priest to start in September. The service today will be interesting. Was hoping to talk to him about some of the issues I'm dealing w/ now.
NavyJack - Anti-lock brakes can be sensitive to changes. May just need to be reset, but as Doug said best to dump the codes and see exactly what the fault is. More important the making the car go, is making it whoah...
8N - like the Buick Al V8 in the MGA. They put that engine in an MGB-V8 version for a few years, but of course it never came here.
On the way to Phoenix saw two NS engines on the UP line. What's up w/ that? Also saw the UP special train, complete w/ bay window obs being towed by two UP diesels.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 86 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. We have the Daughter and family coming to visit. Grandkids are boy 14 and girl 8 now. Both like trains. It will be a nice visit.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Good morning everyone. Getting ready for church and will soon be out the door. Bob, sorry to hear of your priest's passing. Our family had several priests that we were all very close to. Each died in a short period of time from different causes. It is tough when someone we look to for guidance is taken, but it is also important to take the lessons learned and keep them close to your heart. With regard to the NS engines on a UP consist, They may have been rentals. I have seen several UP engines in our local NS yard. I don't think they could be much further from their home than here.
Well, I had better get ready. Not scheduled for any media for the day, but that is always subject to change. It would be rare for me not to be on camera, or some other activity.
Hope each of you have a blessed day,Dennis

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 75, Cloudy, with a forecast of showers and Stray Thunderstorms, high of 89. We had rain last night and earlier this morning.
S.J., I hope you and Granny had a good time at the Grandson's Birthday Party.
Navy Jack, I agree with the others. Have the computer scaned for codes. The national auto part chains advertise a free scan. I believe Advance Auto Parts does it.
RT, Just like me, I would not suggest that he has hidden motives. Must be a coincidence.
Doug, Traffic backups: I love those gawkers at nothing. On the Garden State Parkway, around mile marker 105 to 98, a few years ago, was a hot looking blonde wrecker operator. Whenever she was hooking up or chaging a tire, it was automatic 2 mile backup. Nobody complained. Wonder why?
Chuck, Enjoy the visit and your breakfast.
Prayers and thoughts for all of those in need.
Everyone, enjoy your day.
John
Good Morning
Sunny going to 86
No plans, no breakfast S.J.
hello guys, will be 85 here today and humid. it is 8 am here now and hot already. that southern heat gun must be working. ha..ha.. son added brake fluid last night said that i should have brakes bled. will have done tonight. after brake fluid was added, dash light went out. wife will use car to go to church then sit till someone looks at it. will get my on30 davenport critter this week. looking forward to seeing it. i would like to buy wife a sonata, but looks like it will be another elantra. that will account for our spendable income. kind of a bummer as we wont have money to spend on the kids, and of course hobbies are out. will have to do a lot of reading. anyone get any great train deals lately? had little grandson here last night and drank plenty of sweet iced tea to keep cool. biscuits this morning. navyjack
Well lost water last night ( city) about 10 called them about 11 and told them where the broken main was ( remember seeing a lot water earlier) well they are now just start working on it. Bet had a lot miss church this am or went stinking.
Not much going on today its a relax day but wife has a short honey do list for me. ( normal huh)
Well hope all have a good day.
When I get my A-unit back from Weaver will take a pic of all 3 units for SPF
Need to really start thinking of getting a layout started instead of buy any more so Guess its time to try to reframe from buying again lol can not really seeing it happening with my addition but one has to give for the other so its time I have a few bids out there and we'll see how I do after that lol.
All have a good

Getting ready to drive to seaside today. going to wife familys house there and eat and drink and watch the kids have fun. Next week i think i am going to start on a subway under my layout. everyone have a good sunday.
I like that idea of a subway, cool!
Bob - sorry for your loss, brother.
Well, RT punked out on me again today - can't come over cause he smells bad or something Oh well, I'll have to get to it on my own I guess. Wife and kids are on their way down to Salem to visit some family and then bring back our nephew for a week or maybe two. I'll bet he is bored to death in a few days, but we'll see
Ciao!
Everyone had a fabulous time at the pool party ... sis - in - law had a karaoke group there ... man some ladies can sing as good as pros ! Alot of 50's rock and country music ... some neighbors even drifted over .... they could probably hear the music all over the neighborhood anyway ... LOL . Did'nt rain a drop and the pool was about 80 - 90 degrees ... the wee ones were fun ... ole pappy here loved them . Of course eye balling the 20 - 30 year olds in bikinis was'nt bad either .... .... just relaxing today ... going to play a bit of xbox 360 and enjoy this beautiful day .
Brutus .. the last time we had to move big heavy desks I took a screw gun attachment and partially dismantled them .... tops off = etc . ---- made them a heck of alot easier to move/carry .
Good morning all,
The wife and I had another hospital breakfast. I must admit this hospital is very nice: the staff is extremely courteous and helpful, and the food is actually pretty tasty. We are waiting for the pediatrician to arrive and let us know whether our son can be discharged today or not. He was supposed to be discharged Saturday, but his jaundice levels were a little high so she wanted him to stay anohter night. We should know in a few hours.
I like the idea of a subway under my layout as well. Especially since Lionel printed that red (can't remember the model number) NY city transit version in it's catalog last year. It was an eye catcher for my son and me.
Ahoy Maties! Ahoy English! Sunny & 86 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Good all-day rain event yesterday. Finished resume this morning with help of one of my best buds. Back to the grind for me and wifey tomorrow.
submmbob - NS and "Uncle Pete" have been pooling motive power for the past decade or so on some of their time-sensative transontinental runs. It is not unusual to see UP power on the east coast, on both NS and CSX lines. For awhile, the big 4 were choosing dance partners for a possible transcon, but I believe the STB nixed that. It was cool seeing WARBONNETS in Maryland for a while.
Afternoon Y'all! Church was great, but I did have to handle a camera I have not been on as the scheduled person was a no show. Went for Mexican food afterward and now it is time to relax on the couch. Watching "Tank Overhaul" on a Panther from WWII that was found upside down in a river in Poland.
Joe, I almost took a position with Dr. Sauls to start the heart program out in Enid. Wife was a "No-Go" as she didn't want to be that far away from family....right after that decision, they had a big tornado and we felt it best to stay in Georgia. I heard the hospital is nice, but Dr. Sauls is no longer there either. So, is your baby under the lights? Jaundice is very common in newborns. While the hospital may be nice, I am sure you are looking forward to getting home.
Dennis
Navy Jack,
The light will come on if the brake fluid is low. If the brakes feel ok and the car stops like it always had, drive it and enjoy it. Dont fix it if it aint broke.
Howdy All
A few sprinkles, no rain. 85.
A quiet day, so I'll just wait on the porch for Brutus and the thingy.
Banilla will wait in the freezer......S.J.
Navy Jack If you had good level I would want someone to check for a leak as it could have a leak somewhere. I always believe if it does something your not use to get it checked as it could be a warning
Evening all hows it going? Hope all had a good weekend
Hot and muggy here in Saint Louis and a storm just went through. Wife and kids are due back in an hour or so. Trains are all packed up and table is taken down, then strapped it to the wall in the garage to keep it safe. Desks are up in the garage. I need to organize my tools and remaining building materials - pick up a couple sheets of good plywood (oak), and about 6 sheets of drywall to finish off the base of the stairs and the bathroom. Getting closer and closer
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. A great day in sports as I got to watch not only a F-1 race, but a soccer game (World Cup Final) on network TV. Webber won the F-1 race leading flag to flag, but there was a lot of passing behind him. Spain won its first World Cup title 1-0 in extra time (at least it was not decided by PKs). Did a few household tasks after all the sports. I have a dental check up tomorrow so I have the day off. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hello all,
Lots going on here
Daughter had to put down her Chocolate Lab on Friday. She was 12 and in severely failing health. Also on Friday she had problems with her well. Luckily here was plenty of water. We pulled the pipe on Saturday morning. The foot valve / orifice and venturi were all plugged and severely rusted. We replaced it and flushed the pipes and now the water is better than it has been for a while. Family Reunion Saturday PM
We got 1/2" of rain Friday night. we need several inches but Thank God for what we got.
Went to the Flea Market this morning, got 24 C-9 Christmas bulbs for $.50, that's all I spent. Started Colonoscopy prep when I got home. Less discomfort than 5 years ago. I am to report at 12 noon. Daughter is the driver as Mrs will be attending a required class to remain a Teacher Assistant.
Hay is finally all made. Oats is ready to combine. Hope to get the hole in Dad's yard filled this week.
Navyjack, Your car is probably fine but I'd keep an eye o the brake fluid level
Demay, Hope the baby lets you rest when you get him home
Need to get Doe license ready to mail. I'll try to stop by tomorrow when I get back.
Prayers for all who may need them

Low 80's today. Storms truning into sunshine in the late afternoon.
Sumbob - condolances for your friend and mentor. Also, at least one MGB-V8 was let into the country. I saw one many years ago when I was still living in Michigan. Weren't those called MGC's?
Got the last of the drywall hung today. Time to start with the joint tape and goo. Also time to load the scraps in the truck and make a landfill run...
Not too hot in the attic today, so I got up there and did a little maintenance on the layout. Vaccuumed, and fixed a few loose track joints. Ran trains for a bit too.
We are all finally home. Yes Dennis, our son was under the lights to help bring down the jaundice. All looks good from here on out. Thanks for all the kind words. Now the sleepless nights continue.
It is a cloudy 70 degrees. Humid. Suppose to get thundershowers today. Going up to 82.
Today is a busy day. I have some paperwork to do and then, PT this afternoon. Good day for it. I need to do some walking. Legs are a little stiff.
Had a nice visit yesterday with the Daughter's family. Kids really like trains.
Anybody hear from LAZ ???
Dining car is here and it's the usual Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
A quick Aloha before heading to the shore. I am known as the 'beach nazi' for moving everyone along (I hate getting there when the parking is full), and here I am chatting with you over a cup. Hope the weather is good today. Glad your son is doing well, Joe. NavyJack, practically the whole trip down, my bride was asking about her 'next car' - my position was as long as this one is working, we'll delay that as long as possible. But when they go, they go.
Sun and 80s today
Storms overnight gave us about half inch of needed rain. Well according to my Maxwell House rain gauge anyway. A trip to WalMart this morning for groceries, not my first choice but they do have some things we can't get elsewhere. Enjoy your day...S.J.
