Good Evening
88 today, storms expected tomorrow and around 90.
No breaking news since this morning, so I shall wait but keep the banilla in the freezer.

Rich - Good luck on the new job.
Laz - Great to hear from you, how about some pictures!
Chief - Prayin' for your mom
May God bless

hot as can be... 95 and humid....big grandson is fishing at lake caught an assortment of fish. neighbor across street lost his job after 40 years and not old enough to retire. trying to help them with food. all my sons laid off also. unions here are broken. one son got retrained. he got job in medical field for ten bucks per hour and in trades he was a cement finisher for forty bucks. no work though so am proud of him for taking care of his family. these are tough times. good thing we got trains and our fellowship to go back on.p.s. someone wants to shrink usmc down to 145,000.(currently 200,000) navyjack
Laz! Glad you found something to do over the Summer Hope you get to rebuild your layout soon man! Lots of posts today! Glad to hear from you guys, Don and 88! Not much going on here - middle of the week. Nephew is still here - Char took the kids to St. Louis Mills, a local mall, to hang out at the arcade and run go-carts and stuff, sounds like they had a blast. I talked with RT and SJ tonight, just solving the problems of the world
Oh - Char got the windows tinted on the van, as per doctor orders. They can only tint the top part of the front windshield though, but she thinks that will be enough.
Mike, you can drive tonight, I'm a little tired. I finally have found out how to get the kids to go to sleep at night. I threatened to get them up in the morning and put them to work! The thingie is lit and I think we need to go drop off some Yeungs and Old Mills to a couple hard working guys
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
PS - prayers for all in need and our friends and loved ones!
Hot & muggy here today. Glad I finished mowing the lawn last night.
One of the new Michigan transplants commented on the heat today. I just smiled & agreed that it was warm. Little does he know that we'll see some 100+ degree days yet this summer.
My Buick centenial boxcar arrived today. Another clean, low mileage find. Got it at a good price too.
Brutus - an accident like yours would convene at least one committee meeting in our plant. That committee would be charged with coming up with a preventative method so the accident could never happen again. Probably end up banning the use of two wheelers!
Got the joint tape and 1st layer of goo on the balance of the drywall project tonight. Sanding and more goo tomorrow - yippie!
All for now.
Good evening, quick stop in before bed. Another late night. I must be getting grumpy as I find little patience for some new surgeons who might not be any good....but at least they are consistent! There is a lot to be said for the mentoring of a experienced surgeon when one comes into the field. I have seen several new guys who want to go it alone as the feel they are worth more than many practices are willing to pay. As they used to say in the firehouse...."Get some time on the job!" OK, rants over.
Glad to see some folks stopping by who we know are real busy about this time. Fife and John, could you put a Cole Hersee switch in the boat to isolate the battery? That is the big round knob switch that has "battery A" "batter B" "Both" and "Off". That would allow you to still start and run if one battery is dead. It also should prevent any drain on the battery when you are not running, just switch to "Off". We used to have those in all the fire apparatus.
Time for bed. Hope to see my wife and kids before I have to head back, but tomorrow is a busy day.
God Bless,Dennis

Good Evnin'/Mornin' Ya'll from Overcast and Unsettled Taxachusetts,
Getting ready for a weekend getaway to New Hampshire. We are taking Maximus the dog, so I suspect the vehicle will be loaded. Got to get the grass cut, laundry done, and the other details.
Chief......you have my continued prayers for your Mom. It's in God's hands.
Brent.....sound like there is quite an adventure in store yor you and the Q. Bring a St. Bernard, fully equipped.
Rich.....this will be an exciting new chapter in your life. Plan a safe trip Nawth. On your way, stay away from politicians with corn liquor and grits, guys with power tools and ladders, and guys with electrical issues with their boats.....or you may find yourself on Gilligan's Island.
DougM.....glad you are enjoying your vacation. Come home with a tan.
LAZ.....you are challenging the Chief and Dennis for the title of "overbusy."
Please bear with me guys....I'm a bit behind on my reading.
Prayers for those who need them.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Morning from Central NJ, 80, Humid and Showers. Forecast to be in the 90's.
Navy Jack, I wish the best to your sons and family. Jobs are tough all over. We have a freeze on hiring, OT is cut, Budgets cut, Wages were frozen, and they want more for less. I don't know what our fearless leader is thinking about the military cuts.
Dennis, On my boat I have 2 seperate circuts and each has the same switch and there is a switch so that I can use either bank for starting or the electronics/bilge pumps and each has a "Cole Hersee" type switch. In other words i can use either circuit to start the boat or power the electrical "toys". I left the aux. circuit in Both mode and 1 of the batteries was bad and drained the other. They were both Optimas and I replaced them with Exides.
John
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. We won again last night 3-2, but we did not make it easy on ourselves. We were up 2-0 at one point in the first half, and gave one back on an own goal. Midway thru the second half, it was tied, but we got one back with about 5 minutes to go. We had many, many missed opportunities, but a "W" is a "W". A win or a tie next week will win the regular season title for us. I slept well last night. I was tired, but it was the best kind of tired....I was soccer tired. Some of you may remember me talking about a Brazilian exchange student and all the hours we spent at the YMCA doing soccer scrimmages. We have kept in touch and here is what she wrote recently about what the World Cup means to her and her part of the world.
I was anxious for the world cup, it is a big deal here you dont calculate how.. the hole country stops just to watch , im not kidding, all the jobs close all the schools all the stores close, you dont see anybody on the streets hanging out, and you ca hear fire works every single goal and when brasil win you can hear vuvuzelas and people commemorating everbody wear the collors everybody is in the spirit, even that people who doesnt know anything about soccer..too bad we got out..a lot of people still watching i could hear some fire works when the argentina was out too, brazillians hates argentina time so do they if it happen again in the next cup, that will be worse.. because the next will be home
Her comment about Argentina almost sounds like ours about North and South. She told me later that she thought her English was getting worse, but I think she pretty well captures in a few short thoughts the essence of what soccer means. She also sent me some other links as well. When I review them, I may post them here as well.
I had bran muffins on the dining car. TBIL after the boys' scrimmage tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a foggy 70 degrees. Sun is trying to breal thru. Going up to 86 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping. Wife will not be happy. I will be silent. Maybe, I will be able to do the shopping soon. No train time today.
LAZ.... We need pictures.
Dining car is here with the usual Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Morning to all,
Lazy week of vacation. Have been off all week and other than a few minor honey-do's I have been pretty lazy. Have been riding the exercise bike a little and did go for a swim the other night. No trains as it has been too hot in the garage. If the weather breaks I might go out and dust things off and run a few trains. May go down to Charles Town to watch the horse races and play some slots today. We were supposed to go away this week but the Mrs. was exhausted from watching her 13 yo niece last week, we couldn't find a place to go that we both could agree on, and we had just been on vacation in New Orleans in late May.
88- Prayers as you start the adoption journey.
Chief - prayers for your Mom and her care takers.
anjdevil - best wishes on your move. Hope you find work soon.
LAZ - Fife is right, you're making the rest of us look bad, jeez slow it down a bit. I get tired just reading about all your projects.
Have a great day.
Mitch

Morning all, heading in and stopped for a quick sip.
John, that should work. When I used to help Dad at his business, we did a lot of these cases where one bank of batteries would take down another, or some drain not thought about would drain the system when not in use.
Chief, I think I found someone for your search of a Wake Co. Schools super. His information:Bob MitchellGettysburg, PATCA # 98-47956LCCA# RM22839

Good Morning...
Rained a bit yesterday, thunder & lightning....up to 90 something today...cloudy now.
Had a doctor’s appt for me yesterday morning...kidney stuff again. Nothing of consequence, just another blood test & 24 hr urine test....oh joy. But the doc is cool and I’ll do what he asks, last appt is 28 July...
Princess has 3 cavities and her therapist has released her and so all is right with the world...for now...
Tonight I’m going to do the bedroom stuff and box up the ceramic firehouses, and go to bed early. Good luck with that, right?
Nice seein’ ya Laz....
John, I stayed in Ocean Grove last weekend....weather was good. I think I’m going back there in October, early. Nice B&B there, rested good, missed the beach though, rain Saturday....I used to prowl Asbury back in the day and it sure has changed!!! WOW!! Are you close by?
Brent – Good Luck on the trip and the adoption.
Jack/RI 52 – Thanks for the advice....
for all our intentions and thanks!

Mornin' boys. A hot 79 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Shift-party tonite after work, now where's my hula dancer shirt...
SPMan - Try using ROSS track sections with that bridge. I use ROSS on my girder and through-truss bridge for appearances.
dwiemer - Boat has that switch. Not the problem. Leaving the batteries on-board, at the dock over the winter, the problem. It's ok, WEST MARINE having a sale this week. Timing.
RockIsland - On the contrary, me thinks GILLIGAN'S ISLAND is EXACTLY what Rich needs...
Ginger? MaryAnne?
Good Morning
74 going to 90, storms expected later.
Its a little overcast so me thinks I shall cut the grass before the sun peeks out. Nothing new from the train store so I haven't been there for awhile..Enjoy your day...S.J.
I'm thinking more Mary Anne right 'bout now....
anjdevil2 I'm thinking more Mary Anne right 'bout now....
Mornin' All,
After reading the last few day's posts I'm tired and ready for a snooze.
Munchkin spent the nite so Mom & Dad could have their anniverasry dinner & evening. Lots of roughhousing followed by mushroom pizza for munchkin & granny, slopbucket pizza for grampa. Sausage & waffles on the chuckwagon this morning.
Already tired of the hot weather and looking forward to fall, at least with cool weather you can dress for the weather w/o embarassing yourself or others.
Chief, Thanks for the offer, I have one "on reserve" to be picked up tomorrow.
Gonna be a busy one today, some "honey do's" this morning, munchkin's swim lessons, late afternoon B-B-Q with friends and finish the evening picking up my sister at the airport.
Later !

fifedog SPMan - Try using ROSS track sections with that bridge. I use ROSS on my girder and through-truss bridge for appearances. Fife, is Ross anything like Gargraves with wooden ties or does it have built in roadbed? I think Realtrax from MTH has a roadbed and that's probably what the trestle set is made for. There are little clamps that grip each side of the roadbed. I have lots of extra Gargraves track around. Thanks for the suggestion. Ray

Mornin fifedog. I corrected your spelling for you. Your welcome.

Lawson Farms - You are too kind
SPMan - ROSS is similar to Gargraves. ROSS has wooden ties, which readily accepts spikes, small screws, etc for securing track to superstructure. If your new bridge has open frame bottom, just makes for a better looking model. I think the rigid ballasted track suspended by pilons looks "suspect" at times.
Good afternoon all,
Lovey.
Afternoon all
Last night of Bible School, it has been fun but very time consuming.
Sounds like everyone is staying busy and trying to stay cool.
Another hot and unbearable day here in NW OK. I'm not sure the exact temp, but the heat index has been 105/106 everyday this week. I took our newborn for a stroll around 10am, but we were only outside for about 15 minutes. It was too hot and since I had his stroller shades up he was not getting any of the breeze. I will have to attempt the stroll before 9am for it to be comfortable. I have been off work since his birth for paternity leave. Yes, the Air Force now offers paternity leave. I took personal leave as well and will be off until the end of the month. It is quite nice to relax, but I'm sure my wife will get sick of me soon.
I just finished reading the newspapers and I need to clean our van. I am not looking forward to it due to the heat.
Regards,
Joe

Good Evening From The Jersey Shore,
Home and the start of a week of VACATION.
Dennis, I read my post from this morning from work. I looked at the clock and I realized that I had 5 minutes to get my Safety Huddle Info together. I see that you got the idea on how it is wired up.
Rich, Hang in there and good luck with your health. I am sure the Princess will adjust. I live about a 1/2 hour South of Asbury Park. I live between Exit 80 & Exit 77 of the GSP. (Remember, us Jersey Guys it is What Exit?).
Waiting for my wife to come home and decide what we are going to do for dinner.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
90s today, a heavy rain and wind storm just past, it's still raining but the worst seems to be over. Still some thunder now and then. I got the grass cut and trimmed, the temp went up 10 degrees by the time I finished. Banilla is ready.....S.J.
Good evening folks. Another long day. Had two emergencies and now we added a case for the morning as well as bumped a case to do on Saturday....now when should I retire???? But at least I got home while the rest of the family was still awake.
Son is making a elevated rail system out of Legos...pretty neat. It is fun to watch the way a young mind works. They don't have the limits on the creative mind the way we do.
Joe, it is great that you were able to take off a good bit of time to help your wife and enjoy your son. They grow up too fast, so cherish every moment.
Chief, continue to pray for your Mom and family.God Bless,Dennis
Evening all. Back from night-time shark fishing with the teen. It was fun, though we didn't catch anything. My buddy and his son caught two - including one over 3 ft. Threw them back. Buckeye and the Chief would be so proud of my hooking up live bait.
