Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Spent the day staining all the outdoor play equipment.  Not sure it did any good.  It is semi-transparent or maybe all transparent. Last night mowed the yard, took a shower and then took wife to see "The Last Airbender".  Not a bad flick.  Not quite like one Dennis would do, but still a good story.  Vitor did not have a good qualifying run for Watkins Glen and will start 17th.  Penske starts the top three.  Only good aspect is that Swiss Miss will start ahead of the Princess.  Tired.  Taking it easy.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and it looks as if it will be just SJ and me.  Lots of banilla and zucchini bread.  I hope everyone (especially the red white and blue ABC Supply team) has a good day today and tomorrow.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening everyone.  Was a good day here.  Sleep over for son's birthday went well.  Kids had fun and we had a water balloon fight this morning.  Only casualty was that daughter had one break in the bathroom off the den....water up to 4ft high on three walls.  Still, fun was had by all.  Following lunch, we all went swimming and now, after the kids had their baths, it is time for an early sleep.

Mike, thanks about the movie.  Funny thing is how after making movies, you never look at another movie the same.  I find myself dissecting every part...quality of the story, camera angles, etc.  Hard to just enjoy a flick these days.

Several have talked about it, but it is worth repeating.  Hope everyone has a SAFE holiday.  Fireworks are better left to the professionals, if you drink, do so responsibly.  If you take the family out onto the water....keep a careful eye out for the kids.

God Bless,
Dennis

Banged Head  Wifey is so considerate.

Hudson, did not know you were a VF.  Hats off.  I was one for 16 years before I moved to Rolesville.

Jack, Boston Pops?  A new soft drink? Whistling

Evening all,

My bride is working night shift in the ER tonight and the grandkids are with the other grandparents this weekend.  After supper I finished in the garden and cut grass.  A lot of folks in the neighborhood are setting off fireworks and it has our dog scared.

Man the camping trip last week was great.  PRAISE GOD for fantastic weather!  Only glitch was when one of the kids left the faucet running the bath and it flooded the basement of the camper.  No big deal everything will dry out.

Roy – What part of Tennesee are you going to?

Jack – I agree, I think that while you are driving that is what you should be doing, driving.   Not texting, eating drinking, shaving reading putting on make-up.  It is crazy.  I was driving Wednesday and the posted speed limit was 70.  I was doing 70 and some teen sped past me with no hands on the wheel texting!

Prayers for all!

May God bless

Jim

Mike!  You can drive man!  Let's get moving, I'm worn out and can't stay up too late this time Laugh

Worked 5 OT and then put in about 4 hours on the yard since it has dried up nicely in the trees & etc.  But, the heat was getting to me, so I took a lot of breaks.  Nice chat with SJ tonight and we're both looking forward to tomorrow and all the fun with our families Smile

Ciao!

Evenin' All.

Have a safe & sane 4th all, saw a blurb where somebody lost an arm today or yesterday from in-appropriate use of fireworks. In Ca ALL fireworks are illegal, no talk yet of amnesty in the future. Ashamed

Been a very long week, almost finished with preparations for tomorrow. The wives will be down to join us for lunch(picnic), I'll be grilling up some bacon cheeseburgers and some big dogs. The others will be bringing baked beans, tater salad, apple pie and ice cream. Dinner

Got the special train ready, unfortunately came up a bit short on some of the "bits-n-pieces" needed for a special layout addition for tomorrow. Hopefully the substitutions will look ok.

Been runnin' all day, time to start closing down for beddy-bye. Will be up early-early, lots to do before the museum opens.

Good Morning and Happy Fourth of July from the Jersey Shore, 75, Sunny, going to 95.

We had a great time at my nieces's wedding yesterday. Everything seemed to go smooth. My wife is her Godmother, and she was involved with everything. She is working on her scrapbook now.

Busy day today. Parade at Ocean Gate this morning. The Fire Engines are ready. This is a fun, short parade, with a lot of enthusiasm. Fireworks tonight in Beachwood, nearby my wife and her sister's ice cream shop. It is their busiest day of the year and they will be busy until after midnight. My brother in law and I will be grillin and chillin.

Chief, thanks for the compliment and you deseve one for your 16 years of service. During yesterday's parade my son informed me that there were only 2 guys there from the Fire Company who were older than the 1957, REO, 2 1/2 ton, Converted Military Brush Truck that I was driving. I was 1 of the guys.

Thoughts and prayers for all of those in need.

Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July,

John

Good morning and Happy 4th of July from Hightstown, NJ! Arrived Friday just after noon. 18 hours with the Princess....was a good drive after we got north Of all the rain in FL and GA. Went to NYC yesterday, saw Next To Normal, a play my daughter wanted to see. We got front row center stage seats for $25 each....they had a lottery and she was picked. We had lunch in Grand Central Terminal, walked around Times Square and lower Manhatten. Took the NJ Transit train, of course! I was surprised that my fire uniform came, all my gold has been applied...my other Uniform was stolen 5 years ago. John, make sure you come to our 175th anniversary in October. The 16th, I believe it is. Today is my parents 56th anniversary....amazing. We'll be going to my best friends home tonight, our daughters will be seeing their Godfathers today! The weather here has been fantastic....wish I had my bike! I'll try to check back later, have job prospects and lots of visits, New Hope, Avon by the Sea and parts of central and northern NJ on tap. Have a safe and glourious 4th!

Happy Independence Day boys. Mornin' English. Think it's gonna be a hot one here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Cook-out and swimming down at the beach. Watched fireworks at the shoreline last night - beautiful evening. This is the first time I've taken vacation over the 4th, not sure how to handle it. Headin' for a mini-raid down to Williamsburg this week.

Chief, I recall from the Ken Burns Civil War Series that the town of Vicksburg, Miss. surrendered on the 4th of July 1863 because the confederate commander believed that he could get the best terms from the "enemy" on that day.  However, Vicksburg did not celebrate the 4th of July again until 1945.  Now that's what I call holding a grudge.  Have a good 4th all,

Happy 4th of July!!!  Slept late and then made biscuits, bacon and eggs for "brunch".  We're going to my folks' house for dinner and taking Chewy with us so she isn't alone.  She is okay with all the bangs and whizzes and whistles as long as she has us with her.  TTFN!

After catching up on posts form Rich and John, I've been looking at maps to refresh my memory from my days living in NJ over 35 yrears ago.....lots of good times and I miss the place.

93 here and still the temps are climbing.  I spent the AM mostly working on the kiddie pool for the kiddies who are supposed to arrive with daughter and son-in-law around 4.  Thank the Lord they volunteered to bring all of the food and do some cooking. Thank the Lord they volunteered to bring all of the food and do some cooking.  Two other couples and the son are also scheduled to attend.  The beer is ice cold and I am hoping to drive down the inventory levels a tad......but usually this crowd has moderated its consumption.

After the pool, I watered the flowers.  Cleaned up from yesterday's festivities.  Worked Maximus the dog who has decided that he is a "refined" dog who likes the a/c over the outdoor heat.  The lawn is still browning out despite the watering, so it looks like I may be losing that battle.  The chipmunks continue to wreak havoc on the annuals planted in the ground but seem to be leaving the potted plants alone.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend and doesn't spend too much time in front of the tube watching AMC John Wayne westerns.  The weather is just too nice to spend the day indoors.

Later, gang.

Jack.

Jack we left N.J. 26 years ago and have no desire to go back nothing but problems there when we were ( basically the group we were associated with) Rich and rest from there nothing personal but just wasn't for us. the best thing we have decided that came out of being there when we were was we met and neither of us from there.

Hope all have a good 4th Got home about hour and half ago off tomorrowSmile not much else going on. Hope all have a safe one.

Happy 4th!

Increasing sunshine and high 80's.  Humidity to match.

I've set off my obligitory package of Black Cats, and gotten the obligitory 'grow up' comments from my wife.  Traditions.  Gotta love them.

This week's race was a two night special.  Ran qualifying on Friday to set the inside row, then again on Saturday night to set the outside row, then the feature on Saturday night.  Sucessful night(s).  Ended up 15th out of 22, the driver got almost 100 laps of experience, we found a good set up for the car, and did not break anything.  Won a big tool cabinet too.  Good thing we had the sponcer's sticker on the car.

As a bonus, we had the honor of carrying Old Glory for the flag cermony on Friday night.

About time to fire up the grill for the hot dogs.

All for now.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  World Cup still going on.  Will finish next Sunday.  Watched IRL race from the Glen today.  Vitor had some kind of problem and was well off the pace.  Swiss Miss was on her way to beating the Princess but crashed out.  Penske won with Will Power so the whole race was a bummer.  Did go to Mass this morning and then to 4th of July parade.  Chief, when you visit the "deserter", I am only 50 miles north of you.  When at Madison, you can also visit Hanover College where the saucy wench and I met, and where Mrs. Buckeye went to school as well.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  It was a good drive last night on the Tardis and I can drive again tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all and Happy 4th of July!  It rained all day today causing the local fireworks show to be cancelled.  Oh well, I was able to spend the day in the garage working on the layout and playing with the kids.  It is now time to relax with the wife as the kids are nestled away in bed.

CNW - Glad to hear your son caught a fish.  My father-in-law will be here in six days to await the arrival of our newest son.  He will take my 7 y/o son fishing, which will hopefully satisfy his fishing desire until the end of Summer.

Good night all,

Joe

The last couple just left!!!!!!  A monster crowd.  Over 60 people here for hot dogs.  I cooked from 5:15 until 7:00.  Then went to big celabration at the school.  Said a few words and then the fireworks.  Lead folks through the dark park back to their vehicles.  I knew the best and most direct trail as I have walked it a many a time.  Tired and so are the children [dogs].  Wifey insists on cleaning kitchen so let her.  Off to bed for me and the gang.

Good Evening everyone!  Was a very nice day today.  Had a great speaker at church and Sunday school was very good too.  FIL and his bride came down and we headed out to the sports park where our church both honors the vets and our country with a big 4th of July celebration.  They had a bunch of inflatables as well as lots of activities for the kids and families.  Unfortunately, the SOG parachute team had to bail as they had very bad weather where they were taking off from.  But, the music was great and we had some awesome fireworks.  The crowd was about 25,000 strong, which set a record for the largest crowd for any event in the entire city.

I am about wiped out right now.  Time for bed.  We are not operating tomorrow, so it should be a restful day.
God Bless,
Dennis

Just a quick splash and go.  From the sounds of things everyone had a great July 4th except for Demay who got a soaking.

What a day!  A small affair.  We had the granddaughters over with the daughter and SIL, my son, and a good friend.  BBQ ribs, bbq chicken, regular chicken, steak, and pork......and that was just the meats! Son did all of the grill work.  Mojitos and beer.  Three desserts, or was it four?   It was a scorcher here, topped out at 93.  Kiddie pool got a workout (28" deep) and the adults were not to be denied due to the temps.  The water temp hit 82.

The USAF formation flew right over our place going to and from the downtown Boston festivities.  And enough folks in the neighborhood put on their own fireworks displays that we didn't have to leave our deck to catch  two decent amateur shows across the pond.  No sirens, so I guess everyone and everything remains intact.  It was great to just relax in the warm summer ambience.

The mosquitoes showed up about 9PM but we were ready for them.  Wish I had stock in Deep Woods Off.  That stuff works!  I kept ahead of the game on the cleanup, so when we all retired indoors at 10PM there wasn't much to do except relax.

It looks like we might do it all again tomorrow.  Weather is supposed to be the twin of today.

Later gang.  Time for a good snooze.

Jack

PS:  Chief......how did your dogs and the new pup do with the fireworks?  Ours was with us when one of the neighbors started shooting off the heavier loud stuff.  Maximus  could have cared less, was too busy checking out the perimeter of his yard in the hopes he would finally catch the nemesis rabbits that have the audacity to enter his domain.  No luck, they were in hiding.  The chipmunks too.

Sadhello guys, hope everyone is ok.  served with guys from the north and the south.  most were good guys.  at this time of year i think of friends i met in the service who have passed. also there was some kind of civil war thing in the mississippi river at the rock island arsenal(dad is buried there at the national cemetary). seems kinda strange, we kid each other about being rebs and yankees, but we all end up together. what i think matters is that we are all americans, and we have each others back. won auctions on a mercedes 500, ssk, and a jaguar xk-120.  am still waiting to get my on30 critter. had brats and macaronii salad on the third, corn and ice cold watermelon.  wife made cookies for the grandkids. sounded like everyone had a great time with their families.  jack i always admire your dog.   he is sharp and bet he watches the grandkids. dobies are great family dogs if raised with the kids. chief, i had lots of sweet iced tea this weekend.  i always think about you when i am drinking it. wish i could let you taste some german or sicilian food, bet you would like it as much as i like southern food.  my grandpa wilhelm koeller was from germany, came to u.s., my uncle richard fought and died fighting the nazies in ww2(see all germans are not nazies) take care guys. navyjack

Mornin' boys.  Hot.  Gonna stay hot.

RockIsland - I need to borrow Maximus.  The rabbits in my yard do not respect our Collie.  Coulda swore the other day a bunny did the Russian leg-kick-dance right in front of Lassie, and he didn't flinch.  I just told the dog he's embarrassing.
