It's Monday...and I'm still here!!

Last night was great, friends, food and Family.  The "locals" supplied the fireworks, it was fun.

Princess is off with the girls to Avon By The Sea, I'm going hunt around for job prospects.  It was hot

yesterday, but by no means swealtering, being used to the sub-tropical climes, it was ok.

Saw my buddy's Gold Wing, I just may have to pop for one....

RT - no problem, Jersy ain't for everyone...

Chief, I slipped through the Rebel Guards in SC & NC, no problems...the cloaking device works good on the car! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Blew through Baltimore, waved at Fife  just before the Key Tunnel...

Angel for those in need, will check back later!

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore: Sunny, 79 going to 98 today.

I am glad that everyone had a great time yesterday. The parade was fun and the turnout for participants and watchers was good. As we were lining up we had a Haz-Mat larm from a neighboring town, a crew of our haz-mat techs left with the Haz-Mat rigs for Barnegat. Our Haz-Mat Team covers Ocean County and parts of Burlington and Monmouth as well. Yes Chief, I blasted them with the old mechanical siren. If I see that it bothers someone I refrain. I then spent the rest of the day grillin and chillin with my BIL, Dan. We grilled for all of our family, as well as the employees of our wive's ice cream shop.

RI52 Jack, If you are looking on the map, we are just South of Toms River on the Bay side. When it comes to mosquitoes, or AKA, the Jersey State Bird, we find that the propane/ electrical mosquito magnet works well. Coupled with the tiki torches at night, I was bitten maybe once of twice early on woking in the garden. Now since the mosquito magnet has been in place it is great.

RT, I guess that Jersey is not for everyone, especially if the people you meet are "joiks". I work throughout the entire State and the cultures and perspectives that people from different parts of the State have are really different. North East Jersy has a lot of NYC influence and you can pick it up while down towards Vineland, the people that settled their in the 1930's were from the glass manufacturing areas of the South, mainly Georgia and the attitudes of the people and even the way the properties are laid out reflect it.

8N: The race car seems to be coming together good. The big part is that nothing broke. Congrats on the tool box.

DEMAY, Joe, the fishing trip may spark his interest even more. You may have a future Bill Dance there.

Fife: It can be worse, we have a Black Lab puppy that just turned 9 months. Last month he found a litter of 3 baby rabbits. Their mother was killed by a fox according to a neighbor. We have a pet rabbit, so he decided that we need 3 more. They are now with a local wildlife rehab specialist and they are doing well.He got mad when she took them away. Come to think of it he came from a rescue league out of North Carolina.

Rich: Glad that you made it safe and you are having a good time. The job market is tight. We have a hiring freeze, but keep checking the web site.

Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

Morning all.  Rich, did you stop by Pedro at South of the Border?  I remember reading those signs for many miles before getting there.
Hudson, I have been through your area many times.  Have a friend who lived in Tom's River and many guys on the job up there had second homes down that way.  Nice area.

Well, family is ready to go out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  Hope everyone is having a wonderful time.

Morning all.  Moving slow this AM.  Burg does not like the bangs.  He doesn't like "gun fire" either unless it is me shooting a squirrel.  Then he is OK [funny].  He really does not like thunder storms and hides from them.  Lucy and Finn ignored it.

Nice to see an OKie on here.  First cousin to a Texican. Whistling [that should bring on a conversation]  That reminds me.  We had real Texicans at the "gathering" last night.  From Boumont.

More clean up to do and then go to Mom's for a few. [shes getting worse]

Later.

Well, we had a nice 4th of July with all the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers plus watermellon.  #2 son also attended freinds get together and brought home some good Mexican food from there.  Home made Carnitas sort of like pulled pork.  I will make some homemade burritos with it.

NavyJack, Yes we are all Americans now!  I served in a historic Virginia National Guard unit which was part of the 29th division back in the 50's after Korea.  Our division patch was blue and gray because we had units from both North and South.  They also fought together on the beaches of Normandy in WWII.

Cool weather continues here in the morning.  Our town is having a parade this morning and a friend of mine is playing in a dixieland band at a park this afternoon so the 4th weekend goes on.

Best fireworks this weekend was at the Los Angeles Angels stadium in Anaheim after the game.

My Z4000 MTH transformer made it back to Maryland according to the service information on their website.  Hope they are not too busy to look at it soon.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon all,

Another day of rain here in Enid, OK.  At least I'm not at work; enjoying the final day of this four-day weekend.  The family and I have played Dominos and Wii Backyard Football.  Now we may go for a drive to Oklahoma City (an hour 15 away).  It will get us out of the house and I may get to stop at a hobby shop.

Chief - If you're referring to me as the Okie, you will be a bit disappointed.  I am a Yankee originally from PA.  I am in the Air Force and currently stationed here.  If it's any consolation, my wife is originally from Muskogee, OK.  We were also stationed in Abilene, TX, at one point.

Hudson - If my son is a future professional angler, his maternal grandfather will be the one to coach and manage him.  He used to fish in bass tournaments all the time.

Regards,

Joe

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Ran the Santa Fe freight last night.  Took a while for it to loosen up, but by the end of the evening, it was cycling thru the three position direction cycle fairly well.  Played "Double Crossing" with the family last night.  Trimmed trees along the the property line and took PT and the truck in to have tires rotated and oil changed.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL any time tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha all. Sunny and hot here like most of the country. Sounds like everyone had a great holiday.

Just back from the parade... 2 hours long in 90 degree heat. But I had a great seat with the bride and the youngest since I helped a policewoman set up the sawhorses to block the side streets.  Bands, fire trucks, local businesses and churches and the politicians. Fireworks tonight out over Crystal Lake. We'll watch from afar/ Our town does things on this day this year since it was so much cheaper. Wink  Went to the inlaws yesterday for their fireworks. Back to work tomorrow. Annual White Sox game Thur.  A few photos from Fathers Day..

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, it is down to 92.

I agree with you SJ, banilla and root beer sounds great.

Off to the Firehouse for a drill. It may be cancelled because of the heat. After looking at my last post, yesterday's haz-mat call was the next town down, Stafford not Barnegat. It was in a rehab center in the Manahawkin section.

Fishing tomorrow morning. Early incoming tide. Looking for Summer Flounder.

Thoughts and prayers for all in need.

Spent the 4th at some friends from church property east of Tucson. Nice place they have out there. Reminds me of the camps my relatives had up in ME (albeit, much less water). Brought my little optical scope and gave an impromptu star party, need to practice a bit more though as it's been a while since I actually looked thru the tube.

Spent the night and came back this morning. Stopped in Benson for lunch at a little place near the tracks. Got to see two UP trains hustle through town. Jeep got among the best mileage I've seen yet. Still nothing to write home about, but not bad for something w/ 4.10s that will climb a tree.

Here's the view out the garage at the moment. Waiting for paint to dry on the rear suspension parts. Learning how to use a sprayer.  In the foreground is the used engine that hopefully will be going in this week.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Sunny with afternoon showers, temps in the high 80's.  I don't have to water the veggie patch now.

Happy 4th #2.

Quiet day.  Got the new tub drain set installed - like usual, the 'universal fit' didn't. That's OK.  I made a stop at the DQ on my trip to the store fpr parts. Watched Crank II with my wife - odd absurd movie - but entertaining.

Had another 'traditional' 4th meal today - grilled hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, and red, white & blue berry desert.

Back to work tomorrow.  Gotta keep those SS coffers full.  The plant is in shut down this week.  Since I don't have any heavy projects for shutdown, I have delusions that I'll be able to work normal 8 hour days.  We'll see.  The goal is to get the cement board up around the tub and start tiling this week with all of the spare time my 'lighter' schedule at work will produce.

Racing will probably be kabashed for a while.  The owner/driver is due to become a 1st time dad on July 12.   He is starting to get a little nervous.

All for now.

Bob, brings back memories.  That will be a great vehicle when you finish.  Burg and I are alone.  Wifey, Finn and Lucy have gone to the lake house.  Tomorrow afternoon is the battle with the Raleigh Mayor for my high school.  He has really taken a beating in the letters to the editor and some editorials over his attempt to block me getting the high school.  Several Mayors have come out in support of me.  I have the "promised" votes to win.  Now if I don't win, one County commissioner is in deep trouble in her reelection attempt.  Three Mayors will come out against her and that would be the "kiss of death".  Popcorn, Coke Zero and TV time.

BTW: Mom recognized me twice.  Took her some time to answer who I was but she made it.  She slept most of the time I was there.  She wants to stay in bed all the time.

 Hello all,

Busy weekend, Nice weekend.

Glad to see everybody had a good 4th

 Chief, continued prayers for Mom.

Had a picnic with family, watched fireworks, tried to stay cool. Hot as the dickens here and dry. Cut some second cutting hay today.  (big fat Doe stood in fence row and watched me) Not much of it . It was thick , green and short. It was all most ready to bale as soon as cut. The rest of the fields will be chopped to feed cows daily as pasture has been gone for a while.(been feeding hay)

Smilehello bob, thanks for sending the pics.  you are a true car guy.  i especially like the mgb that you can see the side view of.  when i had my tr3, i had radiator trouble, and you had to take the whole front off the car to get to it.  i also used to blow the cluster gear, and you had to remove the whole tunnel between the seats to work on the tranny.  i loved that car anyway. chief, i hope that your mom is better.  wes, lost another on30 shay.....never will give up.....navyjack

Evening folks!  Started off nice in the morning around 83 degrees, but got up in the 90's.  Got in a few hours yesterday and a few more today and got most of the stuff out of the basement and stored in the garage.  My truck will spend a few months on the driveway.  My kids were really great helps and so I treated them to icecream today (Maggie Moos) and to some books at Barnes & Noble.  I still need to get a couple desks and a couple book cases out, but that will require the help of another guy I think.  I'll call up a buddy and see if he can help me out.  Need to get some more plastic tubs to store my trains during the final push on the construction and then all the mudding and painting.

Just remembered, I need to get the doors!  Do you put them on first or after the paint work is done?

Tardis is ready and we have pretzels, chips, and also popcorn, if you don't want banilla after eating chocolate batter icecream earlier Laugh

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

SPman ... wow ... my dad was in the fighting 29th division ! The blue and grey ... he hit Normandy beachead and through france - holland - and all points clear to germany in WW2 . They were going to ship him and his buddies to the pacific but thank God Truman ended it . There's very few of those guys left ... but it's great to hear about another 29th division member that was in any war . He was so darned proud of it and received a purple heart with clusters among a bunch of other medals . I'm sure you are too ... I salute you buddy !

Navyjack .... don't ever give up buddy .... you'll get one ... it took me a couple years to find a great deal on my first shay . My favorite car was a 1954 MG TD ... looked like a plain looking mini duesenburg kind of .... girls loved it but I could'nt " park " in it .... darn shifter and emergency brake handle was right in the middle of the seats ... stupid me sold it .... Dunce .... lovin up on the girls was more important then .  As forest gump says " stupid is as stupid does ... Banged Head  ... I was a 17 year old dumb kid . Here's a pic of one just like it ... only mine had beige interior . Spare tire mounted on the rear in a cover and I ran a straight pipe ... no muffler ... lol . The sides of the hood cover had louvers not showing in this pic which looked better .... and dual runing lights .... if I remember they were lucas .

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Supposed to be hot and dry all week.  Watched a tape of a F-1 race last night.  Still enjoy those races.  Makes me wish they were still running at Indy.  Really, really enjoyed watching them run, and the fans were fun to watch as well.  Back to work to pay for Chief's SS.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime.  Prayers for all who need them.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Don't you just hate it when you have to feed hay in the summer? I am almost to that point. 90-100 degrees for a week and no rain. Don't dare clip the fields. Good thing I rotational graze. May have to buy additional hay soon.Thumbs Down

Big Smilewes, i really enjoyed the pic of the td.  do you ever still dream that it is still under a tarp in your garage? i dream about my tr3 like that.  the tr3 was like a poor mans jag xk-120.  always wanted a healy also. can you imagine when i was stationed in long beach, in 1981 a dealer still had a brand new mgb in the showroom? it was electric blue and had a pricetag of 7,000 bucks, i did not have it then..... well now i have a 1/43 scale tr-3 by corgi and that is better than nothing.  sbmmbob has a real "b" parked in his driveway.  he is a lucky guy.  navyjack

Morning all

Going to be another hot one in Southern Ohio.  Trimmed trees yesterday.  I am beginning to think I getting too old to climb up into them.  I did have a new pruning saw so it was real sharp!

Going to take the camper off the truck then tear off the roof on the garage on the house we're fixing up to sell.  Going to take plenty of water with me.

A tip for finishing doors;  drive a large finishing nail in the center top and bottom of the door. so it sticks out about 1 1/2".  Put the doors on saw horses with the nail acting like an axle.  Do one side, flip the door then do the other side.

Chief- Prayers for your mom.

Time to get to work.

May God bless,

Jim

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 97 at 10:15, sunny, going to 100.

Back from fishing. 1 keeper Fluke/Summer Flounder. Keepers have to be 18". We caught a number of throw backs. Keepers in previous years. Since we had only 1 and had him in the live well, we released him as well.

Chief, Good Luck with the school and the best for your Mom.

Thoughts and prayers for all in need.
