Good evening all,

I enjoyed another peaceful day here at home.  Our daughter will be involved with the Missoula Children's Theater this week.  They are a traveling company teaches kids acting and directing plays and musicals.  She is the assistant director which is right up her alley.  They rehearse and practice for five days and the show is on Saturday.  They are performing the musical King Arthur's Quest.  It should be entertaining.

Chief - I cannot say anything better than what was already posted.  All I can offer is my prayers for your mother, you, and your family.

Prayers for all those dealing with illness and suffering.

Good night,

Joe

Approve  Expecting NAACP demonstartions at School Board meeting tomorrow.  Also some bad comments from the Black Panthers.  Demonstarting against the new School Board's new Community Schools assignment policy.  Funny thing is.  It has not been developed yet.  Demonstarting against something that does not exist.  They claim that Community Schools will re-segregate schools.  They want the old school board's policy of busing for economic diversity.  BS  They want to bus for integration.  They are using economic diversity as an excuse.  Another thing is 90% of the African-Americans I talk to say that the NAACP does not speak for them.  They are smart enough to speak for themselves.  All the African-Americans in Rolesville say they want community schools and to stop busing.  Got one reverand that is for busing as he is stuck up the local Democrat Party's ---.  His congregation is for Community Schools as they tell me different on the street.  Now I can get off my SoapBox.  Probably make national news.  BTW: Rolesville slipped to the number 3 fastest growing town in NC [been number 1 for 3 years in a row].  Wake Co. passed Charlotte/Mecklenburg as the largest population area in NC.  Passed it by 13K.  I think we moved from number 6 in the nation to number 4.  Yankees love us.  Monsoon storms and lightning all around us tonight, but not much rain at the house.

Got back from Phoenix this morning and went to an appointment w/ one of my docs. I see my primary tomorrow morning and start outpatient stuff tomorrow. Then back to work for a few days on Friday.

Thanks for being there guys, it means a lot to me.

Chief - I keep your mom, you, and the family in my prayers

Dennis - Amen

Decided today when I go to Phoenix next time I will at least take the freeway to Picacho. Get to watch the trains on the way. Saw the UP loco in SP Daylight colors today. Very cool.

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Soccer practice cut short last night due to lightning.  Baseball.....hmmm....that is a game where an "exciting" pitcher's duel ends in a 1-0 score as opposed to soccer where an "exciting" goalie duel ends in a 1-0 score.  One sounds just as "American" as the other....hmmmm.  Dennis W., well said...Amen.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East" (not going anywhere MD line).  TBIL anytime.  Daughter is getting closer to delivery date and wife is packing for extended stay to help out.  I hope everyone has a good day (continued prayers for Chief and family).

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 72 degrees. Going up to 88 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. Lots of chores to do and a project to finish. I may have some relaxing time later. Legs are a little achy from PT. Starting next month, I will go to the Fitness Center three times a week. The Physical Therapy sessions will stop. Only needed, in case I have a problem. So, I will be on my own.

Dining car is here with the usual Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 73, Partly Sunny, 94% Humidity, Going to 91.

8ntruck, Wish your wife the best for her surgery.

Brutus, Wishing Char the best and it will work out.

Bob, Good luck with your "outpatient stuff". Speedy Recovery

Joe, I wish your daughter sucess. She may be a famous director one day. Encourage the dream but stress the need for a backup plan.

Mike C, "Wife is packing for extended stay". Tell your daughter she is a month late. The World Cup is over. You could have some wild World Cup Parties and invited all of us, eventhough some of us would have wanted to watch "American Sports" instead. Tell her to plan better next time. All serious now, wish her the best.

Chuck, Finish up with the PT, strengthen up at the gym, and get ready for the NYC Marathon. Forget about running, we will be bystanders. Dining car just arrived with the Rice Krispies.

Chief, Thoughts and Prayers for Mom, you and the family. If you want to bring Rolesville back to #1, I am retiring in 2yrs, 1month, 22days. I may move down, but my "Friends" want to go also, Tony  said "That he wants ta opena Tony's Pizza". Izzy wants to open "Izzy's Bagels". Stash wants to open "Big Stash's Bar & Reastaurant", Armando wants to open "Armando's Auto Body", Joao wants to open the Portuguese Bar and Grill and home to the Potuguese Soccer Club. Whoops this is starting to sound like Down Neck, Newark, NJ. I will tell them to "Forgit about it", Rolesville isn't ready for them.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Mornin' Fellas!

FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am finally splint free. Yep, no longer need to wear the splint 24/7, now have to wear soft splint for driving only, or if I am doing anything strenuous. Smile Dr. said my Range Of Motion is better now than he expected to see when I am discharged from him... told him it was because he is a better surgeon than he thought he was. Smile

Probe - yep you probably were less than 6 miles from my house and you didn't even wave. Sad

Chief - yep, yep, yep.

Dennis - Nice prayer. Angel

Good morning all,

Right now it's a fair 81; however, the winds are 21mph.  Today's high is 96, but I'm sure it will feel hotter than that.  Just finished breakfast and now enjoying coffee.

Wife has a follow-up appointment this morning, but after that I have no pressing plans.  I may cut the grass after sunset, and hopefully work on the layout.

Hudson - Our daughter has taken ballet lesson for the past five years as well; she is quite the performer.  We encourage our kids in any activity they do, but we stress that school must come first.

Chief - Do you ever sleep?

Lionroar - Glad to hear you are splint free.

Have a great day,

Joe

Chief - Do you ever sleep?

Joe

Reclinerize a lot [go to sleep watching late news or late movie].  Then get up and type on computer.  Last night had late call from Shake and Bake [Don Baker, so named due to living in CA.  It is usually shaking from earth quakes or on fire].  Then go to bed.  Sleep late [7 to 8 AM] unless I have early Mayor's meeting.

HOT.  High 90's and go to the 100's later this week.  Heat index is over 100 today.  Heat indexes of 110 and above for weekend.  So far, hottest summer on record.  Temps are running 10 degress above normal.

Pick garden and hit the road to the lake with Lucy and Finn.  Back tomorrow night due to an early meeting Thursday AM and then meetings off and on until 8 PM.

Have a great day.  Thanks for all of the prayers.

Chief as a mayor how does this happen?

In LA there is a small city, Bell Ca..  It is located on the bank of the LA River channel and boarded by freeways.  There is NO rural area, and the city consists of 2 1/2 sq miles.  Population is about 36,000, avg income is less than 40k.  The community is NOT one of the more desirable communities in the area, and has a rather high crime rate. This week the LA Times released information about the city government.

Bell, reported to be one of the poorest cities in Los Angeles County, received worldwide publicity when the Los Angeles Times published an article exposing the $787,637 salary paid to the city manager and part-time city council members about $100,000 a year. The questionable payments were made to city council members for serving on boards that purportedly do not truly function independently of the city council. The Bell police chief, who manages 46 employees, makes 50% more salary than the Chief of Los Angeles police, who manages 13,000. Experts were quoted in the article to the effect that the payments to city bureaucrats were some of the highest in the nation (in fact nearly double that of the president of the United States), and others wondered how a city with such a small population could afford the payments. City officials vigorously defended the salaries.   (ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell,_California )

Pretty good work, also indicated the Mayor was getting over $600k, but he did not get a cell phone, or city vehicle.

What is really funny is a "investigation" is being launched, I guess it would be like, "Gee, how did it come that I'm making so much money?"  BTW, the biggest business in the city is a Poker Club, owened by  Larry Flynt of Penthouse fame.

Rich,

That is probably a 97 GTS in Bright Atlantic Blue Metallic (K7).  Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy at the moment.  I've only seen two in that color, so if I had the money, I'd be there in a minute.  Thanks for keeping an eye out though.

Brent,

I was too paranoid about getting pulled over by Fife.

I am still going through the 282 from the set that I bought.  It just needs a few small things, then I'll start on the cars.

Dbaker, I read the article in this mornings L.A. Times about the city of Bell, Calif. as well.  Man, those salaries are unbelievable.  We used to go thru Bell on one of the branch lines when I was on the railroad and it looked mostly like industry or junk yards to me.  The L.A. Times said the population was only about 40K and about 90% latino.  Also 50% are foreign born.  It is one of the poorest cities in the state.  Those poor people obviously cannot support these salaries so that poker club must be doing a heck of job "Brownee".

I hope they throw them all in the slammer.  They make the crooks of the past look like Sunday School students.  One of the worst stories was the one about the councilman who resigned down there who was making close to 100K per year and immediately became assistant manager of the local food bank where no such job existed prior to his taking the job.  Of course he retained the big salarly for that job too.  The whole think stinks!

Chief, I thought bussing was dead.  I think most people agree that it doesn't work.  You need to get on one of those committees like the Bell councilman and earn $8000 for a one minute meeting.

Later,

Good Evnin' Gentlemen, You Too ChiefWhistling

I still have not tried to post pictures.  If you will jack your screen magnification to 200%+, check out my avatar you will see what my wife has been up to with our dog Maximus, with me in tow to act as her slave, personal valet, baggage handler, all around go-fer, and poop cleaner-upper.  Banged Head

This past weekend we drove up to Maine to participate in a Doberman Pincher Club of America Working Aptitude Evaluation with Maximus. The evaluation consists of 12 temperament exercises to assess:  appropriate social attraction, sound sensitivity, sight sensitivity, touch sensitivity, and protective response.  If the dog scores below breed standard in any one of the twelve tests, he/she is scored a failure by the judge.

The avatar photo is from the final station where the dog has to protect his/her owner from an imposing and attacking bad guy weilding a stick.  Maximus passed all of the exercises, including the last one as you can hopefully see.

50% of the dogs tested did not pass.  Outside of the dogs bred by our breeder that participated, of the other dogs who were tested 70% did not pass.  Even the gunshots exercise did not unnerve Maximus.

You might be surprised to learn that most of the failures were Dobermans who were too timid, unnerved in response to unexpected stimuli, or just stared at the attacking stranger and just stood there, not knowing what to do.

Later, gang.  I'm trying to catch up on the posts.

Chief.....my continued prayers for your Mom, for your family, and for you, to sustain you in this most difficult time.

Dennis......Thumbs Up on your post.  When I was younger and thought I was invincible I wasn't a very spiritual guy.  But age and life's experiences have had a tendency to make me realize I am the passenger and not the bus driver on so many things.  My mortality is catching up to me.

SJ......prayers and best wishes that Granny's second cataract surgery tomorrow goes as well as the first.

Bob.....prayers you get well.  We need you here to keep our eyes cast onward and upward.

Brutus.....prayers continue for Char.  I suppose too often we non-medical types consider medical issues as an event rather than what it is, a process.

8N......prayers for your wife's upcoming surgery.  I bet she is anxious to get this behind her.

GregM......it is good to see you back here on the Pot, and even better to hear about your new job.  Do you want to send us our discount coupons now or just wait until we place our orders by phone or the internet to take the 50% off the tab.  Big Smile

NavyJack.....all the stores will be discounting their a/c untits soon if they have not already started to do so.  Around these parts if one is not too picky about the higher EER rated ones, you can get the 5,000 btu units around $90 each.

Chuck.....what is this nonsense you are trying to feed us now about how you are going to be alone there at the fitness center?    You will probably be plunked on the exercycle between.....  Oh, never mind.  Just make sure to take a videocamera with you.  Dennis will provide some tips on artistic technique.  Wink

JimmyT.....welcome home from vacation.  What did ya bring us?  Nothing from the Dollar Store I hope.

Fife.....my wife informs me her business is experiencing a healthy uptick in orders from companies in the marine/new boat construction industry.  Pirate

HudsonJohn.....what a post!  You outdid yourself.  I love the idea of a World Cup party at MikeC's place. Thumbs Up  We'll have to pitch some tents in his back yard and get some sort of permit from the police for the 50+ cars parked out in front of his house.  Fife can handle the latter with his considerable influence. Whistling

Banks.....is it the tires or the driver at fault here? Wink

Demay/Joe.....if you do all of this right your daughter will be hauling down $20 million per picture and will buy you an island in the Carribean somewhere.  None of us have an island, and it would come in handy.

Gotta go.  Later gang.

Jack

Man - lots of prayers needed on the pot this week.  Prayers for Chief's mom, Rich's uncle who passed, for 8nT's wife for surgery, for Lady James for surgery, and for 88's hand.  Prayers too for JimSP and his family, Chuck's continued good health, and Spanky's knee.

Good Evening

A comfortable day around 80.

Grannys appointment begins at 6:15 AM so I'm thinking I should have her back home around 9:30. And then of course the patch removal at 8 AM on thursday morn. I had a root beer float but there's plenty of banilla for the thingy ride so swing on by...S.J.
