Well he better learn to turn the water off. Now that you mention it he's the one that always passes gas too.

Mornin' All.

Wow, all the things going on these past weeks sure brought back some sad memories. However they will pass, especially when the munchkin gets here. I'll be taking him to his swim lessons this week plus he gets to spend the night with us. I smell pizza for dinner that nite, and bacon waffles for breakfast. Approve

Anybody heard anything more on the Lionel "UP Boy Scout Commemorative" diesel. Hoping it won't be in the "hi-end" classification, in other words not in my price range. Just might have to go with the MTH Bush 41. Big Smile Plus I am still looking, in my price range, for "San Diego & Arizona Eastern" locos.

Chief, Anything we can do to help just give us a call.

Jon, Hope all the folks in Iowa involved in the flooding are recovering although some probably never will. Angel

One of the local weather geeks was showing charts that indicate a "La Ninia"(sp?) event is in the developing stages. So we could be in for a warm & very dry fall/winter this year.Sigh

Need to get moving, need to pack up an engine to go back for warranty repair. Needing repair = Thumbs Down, however, warranty coverage = Thumbs Up. Smile

Later All !

Chief, Anything we can do to help just give us a call.

You all have done enough.  Birthdays and all the prayers and etc for Mom.  Best friends you can have.

Service went good.  Nice meal [Southern thing] for family and friends after burial.  Fried chicken, chicken pastery, butter beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, string beans, lots of deserts and SWEET ICE TEA.

Jack, now there is a difference from your friend's death and my Mom's.  Mom had lived a long good life and mind was gone.  Your friend was different and it hurts.  My prayers.

Rich, been there and done that.  Gave her the money and the house and I took the kids.  I won.  BTW: She was at the funeral today.  Did speak but about it.  Need a place to crash when travel north or south, take the I 40 west to Raleigh [going north] or US 64 west [traveling south] and you will be within a few miles from me.  God bless.

Think aliens have obducted Jon and wifey.  Keep calling and leaving messages but no one home.

Resting now as been a long day.  Later.

Jack, your words are all too poignant.  Recently worked on a person who is only 37, in great shape having just returned from deployment to one of our wars.  He had a routine chest x-ray that showed a significant problem.  We were able to repair it and he will continue to have a trouble free existence.  If the issue had not been picked up by a good radiologist, this young man could easily have dropped dead without warning.  All this backs up your words regarding the importance of letting your loved ones know you love them and not letting issues get in the way.

Chief, glad to hear things went well for Mom.  Even though it was time, I am sure you are really going to miss her.  Glad you were surrounded by friends and family to take care of you and your family.  We will continue to pray for all of you.

Rich, sorry to hear of the divorce, but do hope that you are able to make the move as smooth as possible.  No winners in these things...except lawyers.  Hope you are able to get on your feet quickly back in jersey real soon.

Bob, still praying for you for your up coming surgery.  I am sure you are looking to get that behind you.  Been a long struggle without answers till recently.  Lets get this turned around and have you starting with a new lease on life!  God Speed my friend.

May everyone see the blessings that surround them this day.
God Bless,
Dennis

Evening all

A beautiful summer day. Enjoyed it with one of my few remaining cousins. I can't drive if Brutus is sick, no loop-d-loops. But I do have banilla and rootbeer....S.J.

Good evening all,

I woke up for the day around 0500, which is the time the baby likes to wake up for the day as well.  That is my bonding time with him.  I spent the early part of the day running errands with the entire family.  The afternoon was playing with the kids and preparing dinner.  After dinner I attached the back sidewalk to my Lionel Dobson house.  Now I need to decide whether I want to repaint it or just weather it somehow.

Sir James - Thanks for the Banilla explanation.  I thought it was something along those lines; my kids have many great mispronunciations.  I am an ice cream fan myself and probably consume about a gallon a week.  I'm very fortunate we have Braum's in these parts.

RI Jack - Sorry for your loss.  Prayers of comfort for you and your family.  Your points about enjoying relationships with people are very true.

Rich - Best wishes on all your going through right now.  I hope the move goes smoothly.

Good night,

Joe

Sunny and 80's here today.

Long day today.  The wife and I arrived at the hospital at 5:30am.  She got into surgery at 7am, finished at 1:45pm.  Got to talk to her in recovery about 4:30.  All has gone well so far, though the doctor did have to fuse two vertibrae, instead of the one that was planned.  Better to fix everything now than to go back again later.  Left her sleeping in the ICU.  She is expected to be released to a standard room sometime tomorrow.

Cheapclassics - Manchester United played the Kansas City Wizzards this weekend.  The Wizzards WON 2 to 1!!

All for now.

8n......that is good news!  Hope your better half is resting comfortably.  There are few things worse than living with a cranky back, except of course, having your wife on the DL.  You are keeping up with the chores around the house, right? Wink  Prayers, brother.

Chief -- I picked up your messages today, thanks for checking in.  I try to check on this forum when I can but the last two weeks I've been on the road more than I've been home.  I have a real appreciation of how comfortable our home is, especially the new mattress we bought last fall .... I don't care what the hotel/motel has for bedding, it's not even close to ours.  My travels have been wonderful and memorable this summer, way to hot a week ago ... heat indicies in 105 range.  I'm looking for one last big ride in Colorado Sept. 14-19 with about 200 of my friendsCool

DougD. -- our weather this summer has been HOT and WET and last weekend just capped it off in NE IA with the failed dam.  9" of rain overnight was just too much.  About 1,000 homes were lost and all it took was about 20 minutes with almost no warning.

Beginning Friday we will have at least 6 Iowa National Guard units deploying for Mississippi training and then to Afghanistan for a year, 2300 sons/daughters/Moms/Dads/neighbors answering the call.  I'll be at several deployments this weekend showing support.

The only train activity for me is emptying the dehumidifier every day in the train room, I'm still surprised with central AC that has been running steadily for the last two months how much moisture is down there.  Of course we've had record breaking rains this summer so I should not be surprised.  Haven't run any trains since the Buckeye's were here ...... that's just not right.

Best to everyone!

Jon

Hello all, got a lot done today considering. The bushings pressed in pretty easy. I'm hoping to a least bolt back on the rear suspension before they lock my wrenches up.

Got up early to fix the Jeep. Plenty of oil pressure w/ the manual gauge. A 40 PSI engine at idle. It was the sensor. Darn 3 wire jobs. Send power to it so its sends a signal to the powertrain control module and then to the PCB for the gauge cluster. Nuts. The more they overtake the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain. 50 bucks for it too. The one for the Corvair is less expensive. Nuts again. Should have it ready to sell before surgery except for cleaning it.

Jack - so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend

Chief - continued thoughts and prayers for you and the family

Rich - you've got quite a bit going on there. Hang in there.

Oh, forgot to mention last night. Running the trains is now a medical recommended relaxation technique for me. I have the 2025 pulling the Amtrak cars and the 2026 on a fast freight w/ the submarine car right now.

Good morning all,

It is hot and humid in SE Indiana (must be global warming) again.  Did some cleaning around the house last night.  Big game tonight.  8ntruck, the Wizards beat Man U, that is impressive.  Hope we do as well.  Work goes well.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East".  RockIsland52, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.  Those sudden events are the hardest of all.  Prayers and thoughts going out to all who need them.  TBIL after the game, but some one else will have to drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning.  Had flash flooding in the county but not here.  We got only a half of an inch but that was good.  Think the lake house got a good soaking if radar was right.  Got to mow the hay in the back yard as growing due to moisture and heat.  Then hit the road to the lake house.  Oldest Daughter is oinsisting we conitue with the paln for me to intertain her office group at the lake house tomorrow. Sigh

Mornin' Fellas.

So much going on here I need a computer to keep track of it all!

Jack - Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. That stuff is never easy. Angel

Chief - Continued prayers for you and your family.

Bob - missed what ails you that you require surgery, but prayers for your speedy recovery

Chuck - continued prayers for your recovery, and continued listening to the doctors. Wink

Buckeye - continued prayers for you... you do live in OH and you are friends with Chief and Fife! Shock

Laz - glad to hear you still have all limbs attached and the project is progressing, Can't wait to see pics.

Rich - sorry to hear about the divorce. Angel For you as well. Give me a call/email if you are in the area - maybe you, fife, and I can grab a cold one.

Chief - I understand your hesitance to not entertain people at the lake house. However, you are one of those that loves to be around people, and you seem to feed off it. I think you should really consider it, it may do your heart some good during these trying times?

Good morning all,

Up again at 0500 with the now 3-week-old boy.  It looks like it is going to be a nice day today.  I will have to go in to the office for a couple of hours to take care of some things that cannot wait until I return from leave next week.  After that I will be taking the older two kids roller skating.  I believe I will be watching.  I have ice skated before (over 15 years ago), but I have never roller skated before.  I don't want to risk any injuries.

Bob - I concur about running trains being therapeutic.  My oldest brother only sets up an HO train at Christmas, so the rest of the year he watches videos I send him of my trains.  He deals with much stress at work and uses the videos to calm him down.

Jonadel - Thanks for supporting the troops, it means a great deal to us still serving.

Regards,

Joe

Good Morning from Hot Humid & Sticky Florida

Jack/RI – Angel for your friend and you & your family.  It’s a tough thing so early in life...

Angel – Chief & Family, Subbob, 8N, Mrs 8N....and anyone else I may have missed.

Thanks for all the lifting up, guys.  There are no bad guys in this thing, maybe me cuz I’m the one leaving.  Let’s just say nobody’s at fault, I don’t hate my Mrs, I will try to make sure her & the Princess will be taken care of as best as possible, as soon as I get gainfully employed again, of course.  I was going to hold off on the proceedings, but at the Mrs urging, we will try to get to the courthouse today after my dr.’s appointment,

to settle this.  It’s very sad, but it is what it is.

Brent, I’m going to try to get to Fife’s on the way up, so maybe this Saturday?  I still need to load the truck...Heck, I’ll have ALL my trains, we could play for hours...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Oh, yeah, Fife...you gonna be home? Smile,Wink, & Grin...I’m really not sure what time, though, afternoon, depending on when I leave.

Jon – Nice you see you here again...

OK, back to the grindstone...will check back later!!

Bob,

I hope the surgery goes well.

Chief,

Sorry to hear about the passing of your mom.

Jack,

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I wanted to post earlier, but the laptop has been acting up again.  The culprit is the DC in jack, and I've got another on the way.  The 718 should be arriving today as well.

Good morning

It's going to low 90s with more storms forecast, seems like we are getting way more of them than usual. 2 BLTs this morning, no way you can eat just one. Oh I love fresh garden crops. We rode home with Doug M last night via chat got him to his car safely. After that he's on his own. Guys I'm sorry for your recent losses, it seems that our little group of coffee folk have had more than a fair share of problems. Have a great day, you only have today once..S.J.

Sounds good. I'm not sure if I can do Saturday. We have a family reunion on Sunday and I'm not sure what The Q's plans are. I will check with her tonight and let you know. It has been a while since I've run trains, she is well aware, and she may just give in because of it.

BTW - Anyone else notice Lionel dropped the Legacy Hotel from their offerings from the Vol1 catalog? That was one of the FEW items I really, really, wanted. Sad Sad

Sounds like they are close enough to follow you to NJ and help unload the truck.  Second thought, not Brent.  If he went we would be visiting him in ICU.  He would have to get hurt. Whistling

Evryone's grass mowed and mine too.  Now pick garden and off to the lake house until tomorrow night.  BTW: Cathy's office has postponed visit till August.  Now I can go mow grass there and finish pontoon boat.

Remember Bob has surgery on Friday.  We will have special prayer time for him.
