Afternoon All:

Just opened up my emails and read the last 15 or so POT Posts. The common thread running through most of them is health issues. Jon, RT, Brutus, Chief, Buckeye and Jack. At my (our) age we see, and have seen, a lot of this, but I never get used to it or take it for granted. Live life to the fullest each day and concentrate on the important things that make you happy. End of sermon.

Jack... Another interesting and complete Post.Thumbs Up

Great spring day here and I plan to make the most of it!

Day three of roofing job.  Should be done today I'm told.  Electrician called and said he would be over next week to hook up newly installed roof mounted ventilator fan.  Lots of clean up to do today.

Jack, prayers for your FIL.  I did mention that I wanted to get a digital camera and take layout shots.  I'm just a procrastinator.  Too many other things taking priority lately.

Patrick, good words for thought about living.  I have been living one day at a time for a long time now and recommend it. Someone told me once that yesterday is a cancelled check and tomorrow is a promisory note but today is cash on the line.

Brutus, prayers for your wife.  Hope everything will be fine.  I had emergency surgery a couple of years ago and know how scary that is.  Not qualified to drive Tardis yet but will go along with others for moral support until you take over the driving.

Chief, prayers for you and your Mom.  Don't kill yourself with too much work.  Sounds like your garden is off to a good start.  Wish I could help you eat some of that stuff.  We ate out last night with another couple who are having tough sledding.  Our friends wife has been suffering from back and shoulder problems for years.  Had two surgeries in recent months but progress is painfully slow.  It was a miracle that she could make it out to eat with us.  It was good for her psychologically to get out of the house.  I had fish and chips which were really good even with Yankee cole slaw.  We had boysenberry pie with ice cream for desert.  Sinfully delicious!

Pretty quiet up on the roof now.  The guys must be taking a break..  Have a good day y'all.

Hey, is it still daylight outside?  Been a crazy day.  Had to stop by church to drop off a book I got for the pastor.  Then, went to Mercedes to get some spare lights for the trip to York.  They told me they ordered a filter for the car too.  Checked, already had a new filter in it, so they gave me the other new one as a spare.  Come to the hospital and first case is already done, figure I'll just coast and catch up on administrative items.  WRONG!  door opens, we have an emergency case.  Turns out it is someone who works here, so that always adds a bit of anxiety to the case.  All went well, but I miss the family and look forward to going home.  By the time I got home last night, all I could eat was some cereal and head to bed.

Now, onto important things.  Brutus, what's the word.  We anxiously await news.  Been praying and keeping your bride and the rest of the family in prayer.  Hope all is well and that the family can rest peacefully tonight.

Have some work to get done at the house before next week.  Have to break the tractor out to get some yard work done or it'll be too high to find the dog.  Also want to detail the car.  Get final preps together for all the fun planned for next week.

God Bless,

Dennis

Well looks like I'm going to be stuck under the kitchen sink this weekend. Sigh

We've been wanting a garbage disposer so last night I stopped at Sears to pick one up. On the way home Susan says 'How hard is it to change the sink?' (inside my mind I'm screaming 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!') but out of my mouth comes 'Oh it's pretty easy.' 'OK, how much do they cost'... 10 minutes later we're inside Lowes looking a kitchen sinks... 20 minutes later I've agreed to change the sink while installing the garbage disposer! UGH! So as we're driving home I say 'OK since I'm installing the garbage disposer and the sink this weekend, can I have some time on Sunday to work on the layout?' - 'No. We have grocery shopping to do and a house to clean.' Banged Head

So we'll see how this goes. Plumbing and electrical work again... Yeah!

High 60's, mostly sunny here today.

Dougdagrump - E-bay does seem to be creeping up.  I notice that there are more Lionel items on any given day than there were six months ago. I usually put one bid in for what I want to pay.  If I get the item, fine.  If not, there will be another listed soon.  I'm trying to find a rocket fuel tank car.  Those things have gone nuts!

The engineer in the cubicle next to mine is getting his late model dirt track car together.  I'll be on pit crew duty in a couple of weeks.  Looking forward to it.

The lady on u-tube reminded me of my dad's cousin.  She could not sing like that, though.

Brought a Pappa Murphy's pizza home for dinner tonight.  Enjoyed it with a couple of Boulovard wheat beers.  Did not drop or spill any like others on this forum:)

Lionroar - new garbel, new sink.  How did you get by without a new facuet set?  Hope you picked up a new trap, compression washers, air gap, etc. while you were there to save a trip back tomorrow.

Good luck.

SJ.......I think the show featuring Susan Boyle actually aired last Saturday in the UK.  By Wednesday the video was all over the place, including every major news show here.  If you look at the view count by all of the different versions posted on YouTube, there have been over 40,000,000 views of her performance on YouTube alone.

We're home, made it in time to chat with Sir James for a few minutes.  Wife's tests were good (EGD and Colonoscopy) with no bleeding, no ulcers, no cancer found.  Where did the hemoglobin go?  They are going to watch and see if she stays anemic and if so, they will order another test with a camera thing that she swallows.  However, there was no sign of blood in the GI tract or on testing of the samples, which is good news.  Thanks for all the prayers, emails and support guys - man, really puts things in perspective!

Spent all the hours waiting today reading a british model railroading book that is actually very interesting!  The Model Railway Manual.

Okay - Sir James, you can drive on Sunday, how does that sound?  I'm not up for driving, but had a couple adult beverages to celebrate good news and I think we have some of the Very Special Brew in the Tardis, right?  Let's go guys Laugh

Well, long day.  Drive home was fine.  Got home and was stiff from sitting so long [1 hour].  Wife had dinner ready [8:30].  Watched Flashpoint and started numbers.  Woke up at 1 AM.   Off to bed.  Got to mow lawn and then parade at 10 AM.  Then drive to Greenvile [way east] for one of wife's friend's daughter's ball game and meal with some friends.

List of things done.

Built a box [out of alumimum] with trolling motor receptical for pontoon boat.  Install it. and wired plug on trolling motor.

Rewired Ranger boat house to 240.   Installed new breaker panel.  Dug trench and ran new solid copper to big boat shed's driven ground [10 feet]

Ran new circuit for gable end fan in Range boat house.

Replaced the wood on both tables on gas grill.

Mowed grass and trimed whole yard.

Cut hole in side of Ranger boat house.  Framed in a gable end vent in the side of the the building [one gable in is enclosed in plywood so had to use side].

Painted car port posts.

Two days fly by when you are having fun. [may go Sunday PM and cut hole in gable end, frame up hole and install shutter and gable end fan]

Glad Burtus's wife is passing her "tests".

Good Morning

Boy 75 today, but then there is tomorrow.

Big nite on the pot. Bag Balm, lady singer, Brutus wife is home.

And now a garbage disposal, Brent I hope you have better luck than me. My wife thinks its a blender and has clogged the drain several times. My talk about it being to clean plates has gone unheeded. And of course the clogs are my fault as I should have bought a larger one.

Birthday party for grandson today and the weather will be great.

Morning all. Wow, everyone's busy. Great news about your bride, Brutus. Tell me more abou that book you are reading - I'm very interested in it.

Bride at church for some sort of prayer retreat. I'm just back from there, getting the youngest ready for his first soccer game - just like baseball, 5-6 yr olds, this should be hilarious. They're so excited. Beautiful day here today. Then terrible weather tomorrow and early work-week. Driving into the city later for anniversary dinner at a favorite restaurant - struck like lightning by a revelation yesterday afternoon - bride will not want a gift like speakers for her laptop for 20th anniversary - what was I thinking? She'll want something "special" - so I left work early, raced to the local jewerly store before they closed and added to the economic recovery... Wink. Last minute save!

Doug:  Sounds like a great time!  F1 in China tonight....Live about 2am on SpeedTV

Morning.  Mowed the grass and then rode in the first fire truck in the parade with my wave.  Then welcomed all the kids and parents to the opening of Roseyville Tee Ball, Baseball and Softball season.

Think I will run to Miss Edna's.  Haven't been in a couple of weeks.

Still going down east for a ball game and dinner with Pam's buddies [I guess, you can never tell with her, changes her mind in a minute].

Doug - nice save Laugh

Here is the book I'm reading - I like it a lot, the author has a good style, not dry or boring even though of course most of this information is well known.  Another thing that adds to the interest for me is that he is in England and the models and terms are slightly different.  EG: Switches or turnouts are called "points".  I got it at Borders, but it was the same price as Amazon.

Brutus, glad to hear good report on your wife.

My roof job is finished and clean up is just about done.  With warm weather forcast this week end, it will be a good test to see how well the new heat barrier on the roof sheeting works.  Have a good day y'all.

RT, I realize this was just a facetious suggestion, but I decided to calculate the cost and impact of such a proposal, just for fun. The plan would cost about 40 trillion dollars! That’s equal to 3 years worth of total U.S. GDP. Or about 20-30 times all of the stimulus/bailout money that has been proposed so far by the administration, depending on whose estimates you use.

Another way of looking at this, that amount is about 5 times the total supply of dollars in circulation throughout the world.

Can you imagine the inflationary effect that would occur if the Fed suddenly increased the money supply by that amount? We would be pushing wheel barrows of dollars to the store just to buy a loaf of bread, a la Germany in the 1930s.

But worst of all, think of all those poor, innocent tea bags that would be sacrificed as a result? Wink
