lionroar ... thumbs up on the train ride some saturday   Thumbs Up ... will pm you when I can go . I usually go to train shows with my bro-inlaw .... the Brass Man - all brass trains only  .... but he wants to go to 2 others he said are at the same time . He thinks competition on prices will be way down on the others since many will be going to York . Plus I've been spending a bundle .... but held off a wad for York... then receiced that email on the cab forward . The cab forward won ... LOL . Took a big chunk out of it . At least I'll be able to meet you and a couple others around here I've pm-ed with with meetings setup . Thumbs Up Have to go shopping at a local guy's train room he's clearing out ... first grabs before he ebays everything . Maybe next year .... Sigh

Louisiana Southern Pacific

Like the photo, just mite have to steal that to send to my grandson.

Did you get a chance to watch the Atlas O chat, becoming a big fan of the Trainman line of product. Since I have to schlepp all my stuff to the museum I can run the quality of Atlas w/o all the detailing breaking off.

We did a photo shoot for Atlas a couple weeks back but unfortunately we weren't able to get everything finalized and forwarded to them in time. Oh well.

Good evening all

Life is good.  Kids in bed.  Kitchen cleaned up, and little surfing, but not at blazing speed, evening prayers then bed.

Wes & Buckeye - Fall York is a go!  Big Smile  How do you register?

Would be plumbers - I hate plumbing jobs.  Back when I did handyman jobs seldom did I make much on plumbing jobs.  Especially on old pipe repairs.  Fix one leak aand make two more it seemed.

Good night all

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 48 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Lots of accidents last night, including one of my rookies runnin' on a "hot" call (pride hurt, that's all).

Buckeye - Wasn't "in" on that one, just the guys in the suits.

88/Ole Timer - Walkersville & Southern such an itty-bitty thing, plumb forgot about it.  Think it was part of the ol' PRR that came down thru KeyMar.

SPMan - Well if we can't get you to come east, we'll just all have to come west. CoolThumbs Up  Just not on AA--->Thumbs Down.

Chief - Best regards with the Mrs.  Are you sure GRITS are really good for ya...Confused

Phish - We'll have to have a seafood banquet in your honor this fall.  I'll bring 2 striped bass and 5 potato rolls; and you can take it from there...AngelLaugh  Actually, whenever I pass a table full of FLYER, I always think of you first...then I can't help but wonder if Northwoods is thinning his collection...

anjdevil - I waved; did you see me?

rt - That's kinda what I had on vacation...better than Jenny Craig Thumbs Up.

jonadel - That 28' Ericson sold for 15K while I was away...DOH!

Mornin' Fellas

Fife - Walkersville is adding more rail North of town... it is so close I'm thinking of looking into volunteering... and yes it was part of the PRR line, then became part of Penn Central after the merger with PRR/NCRR, they discontinued service/use after the Francis in the 70s. Small opperation, but it looks like they have some nice pieces. What caught my eye was the station - looked really nice then I started looking around and saw the passenger cars and cabeese. Didn't see any engines, but they could have been in storage. 28' Ericson selling while you were away = message to you to keep your feet on terra firma! Travel by rail = more fun than travel by sea. Smile

Phish - Could be a really nice gathering in October! Thumbs Up

Chief - Angel for you and Pam. That ain't good.

Brutus -Angel for you and your father. Hope things aren't as bad as they sound. - not sure if Brutus posted this here, but he has a message on facebook that his father has fluid around the heart (more than is normal).

Good Morning from wet Southern Ohio

Rich – Have you received DougM’s car?

Chief – Prayers for Pam

Fife – Thanks!!!! Love seafood; we’re not called fish eaters for nothing!  I can only imagine what Greg’s collection must look like.  The pre-war stuff is very inviting, but for financial and marital reasons I am sticking with post war AF!

Jim F – Prayers for you wife and dad

Hope I’m not out of line asking but if you guys at York see the top rotating platform for a 715 car unloader cheap (< $5) if you pick it up for me I’ll pay you for your trouble.  I don’t mind if it needs refurbed because the car it will go on is going to be refurbed.

May God bless

Jim

Wishing all the York gang safe travels and good buys!  It will be two years since Sharyl and I attended, we have GREAT memories of the meet and the area, we will attend again and spend even more time in the area.  We are now saving our coins for a fall wedding for our youngest son, Oct./Nov., sure looking forward to that day, it will be a good one!  They wanted to know of any possible conflicting fall dates, I didn't list York Smile

This Friday I will be part of an honor mission to bring home 8 American Heroes to their final resting place.  There is a wonderful organization to make sure American Soldiers get to their final resting place, here's a link if you are interested.    http://www.miap.us/

It looks like spring is actually going to be here for several days this week with Fridays temps climbing to 81, YES Cool  The farmers are making giant steps this week, I look at some of the equipment they are using and it just blows me away, their investment in equipment is huge but then most farms now are enormous compared to years ago.

Need to get Thomas set up as the Princess and her parents are coming in for the weekend.  It's interesting, we have huge permanent set up in the basement but she absolutely loves the small set up of Thomas on the dining room floor.

Stay safe York travelers!

Good Morning

We have two more days of gloom and then the high 70s have been promised to us.

Waffels this morning, granny made them so I sure hope they are germ free as she sounds awful and I do not need a cold. I am still coughing from whatever I had.

Had a great chat with Charlie,Brutus and RT last nite. Charlie is in Jersey waiting for Thursday and York.

Enjoy you Tuesday...S.J.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of errands to run and it will take a few hours. Then, I will relax this afternoon. Not much else new here.

Good Mornin', ya'll.

T minus and counting for the Yorkies.  We envy you.  Tip a few for us.

Wet and 47 here but 80's by the weekend.  Big sports day yesterday in Beantown.  Boston Marathon: Americans finished in the top 3 for both women and men, now that's different.  Red Sox won at home.  Celtics won at home (sorry DougM).  And Bruins won up in Montreal.

Granddaughter spent the night Saturday, she's in Kindergarten and is reading!  Took her to the beach with the dog Sunday.  Dog was in total wonder with the seagulls and the tide but would not venture into the 40 degree water, smart. It's discouraging to see doggie doo doo in the grass in the grassy areas just off the sand, makes ALL dog owners look bad.  How tough can it be to carry a plastic grocery bag pick up after your dog.  Trash barrels are there too.

My FIL has struck out so far at the Docs.  Pain in wrist, arm, thighs, and shoulders persist.  Tests and scans all negative.  Docs stumped.  More bloodwork today, and it has him wondering why they just don't take a pint on the front end rather than run an 87 year old back and forth to the hospital.  Docs put him on a broad spectrum antibiotic as a precaution till they figure this out.  His cardiologist is in the loop.

Chief..... continued prayers for Pam and her tests today.  Hang in there.  Was aked by a 35 year old single woman at my church group meeting what it is like to be married to the same woman for decades.  Smiled and told her I wouldn't trade my wife for anything.  Blessed, truly.

Brutus.......was glad to hear the good news so far on your wife.  Continued prayers for her and for your Dad, that the Docs make some adjustments and get him rolling again.

DougM.....hi, Dad.  Sorry I haven't written.  Brent could use your prodigious plumbing skills.  Happy 20th anniversary to you and your better half.  Jewelry for the occasion......ultra smart move.  You get to be a hero for a few days, then it's back to normal fixing toilets and cleaning up dog poop in the yard.

JimSP......it was uplifting to hear about your grandkids and the visit from your daughter.  You Da Man!

SirJames......hope your wife is recovering from her cold.  That Nyquil knocks me out, but the symptoms relief and the good sleep really help.  Stop comtaminating her!  When she's inder the weather you have no one up to the task of fetching you frosties.

Roy.....that was good news on your son's soccer team and some memorable moments he can hang onto with the goal scoring.  Kids sometimes don't appreciate how tough it is to win a championship until they actually do it, if ever.  But it isn't about the winning, it's about the learning.  My son's football program was so bad (winless in 10 years) that they dropped the program.  Then restarted it when he got there.  After their first win, he remarked to me it was like winning the Super Bowl.  Told him it was better because the boys sucked it up and left everything on the field.  Finished .500 that season.  Man, were those PA football games in the rain and 38 degrees brutal......for me and the wife!

Fife.......missed ya.  First you depress us with details of the sunny Carribean climes.....can't wait to see you in dreadlocks.  Then you depress all of us who can't make it to York.  Now you say you missed the boat on the 28' Ericson we were envisioning ourselves on, tooling around the Chesapeake.  Depression.  Last time I passed through the San Juan airport (1994) it was nothing but 747s all in a row.  Security carried machine guns!  Not sure what that was all about, but they were sure successful discouraging the tourists from smoking inside AND outside their airport.

Brent......don't feel bad about your plumbing setbacks.  When I went to fix a leak I only made it worse.  Wife was quite amused which made me dig in and get 'er done right.  After that success, I retired from plumbing undefeated.

Mitch.....sorry to hear about your cold/sinus issues.  My number is up but I still don't get sick.  Must be the prophylactic and therapeutic effects of the beer.

Jon......was glad to hear about your son's upcoming nuptuals and that you took the time to drive up to MPLS to break your future DIL in right.  Baseball tickets!  You cannot retire because you need to continue to draw a paycheck to support the kids and the grandkids......they took a vote and your retirement plans were pulled off the table.

Rich......kidney stones.  Ouch, they are the worst.  Drink more beer and flush those suckers out.  When my wife got them the Doc asked on a scale of 1-10 how bad the pain was.  She didn't hesitate and got more precise with her answer:  "Worse than childbirth."  I skipped the jokes for my own health and safety until the Doc gave her a shot of Demerol (SP?) for the pain.

RT......sorry to hear you are under the weather at the start of your vacation.  The vacation is well deserved but the conditions are not.

Ray......I hear you about York.  It's 425 miles and a 7 hour 47 minute drive from here.  I am confident that you and I are in such good standing with the guys that are going that they will be picking up some vintage Postwar F3s or a Berk for us.

DougDG......isn't the San Diego Zoo always ranked in the top 3 nationally?  Kurt needs to take a road trip with his kids and stop off to visit DougM and the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago on the way which I think ranks right up there.  We go every time we are in Chicago.

DougDG, Ray, and Don.......100 degrees plus in CA in April?  What's with that?

LSP......how did you get that picture of the Chief?  It really makes him look better than he does in person.  I think they took that picture of him after he heard that the powers that be in Raleigh don't want to extend the commuter rail to Roseyville.

Later, gang.

Jack

Good morning all!  Well, have the day off and it has been busy.  Picked up some Mirror Mastic to put the mirror on the back of one of the bathroom doors.  That should make the bride happy.  She was a little upset that I got a "Dairymen's Milk Car" from Lionel last night and I am getting ready to drop some serious coin in York....oh well.  Had to get kids up and ready for school and then drop them off at school.  Few hours to get packed and then time to start picking the kiddos up again.

Chief, will lift Miss Pam up in prayer.  All things are possible through Christ.

Well, looking forward to seeing those who can make it to York in a few days.  I will be by his honor about 12:30-13:00 Tomorrow.  Then it is on to the adventure!  List in hand, cash in pocket.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is a lousy day in SE Indiana with it being cold, wet and miserable.  Work has been horrible.  Everything I touch has gone to h--- in a handbasket.  Did scrimmage with the Brazilian last night and got an e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend so day was not total waste.  One of these days I will find some one in the states who shares my passion for soccer.....(and Milka Duno will win the Indy 500 before that happens).   I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  We did watch "Dancing with the Stars".  Beacon is lit, and I will do the recycling tonight on the cans.  I guess it has been a while.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Afternoon.  Dennis, bring jacket to York.  I've been in Yankeeland too many times when it was warm, suddenly clouded up and turned COLD.  #1 rule when traveling to Yankeeland in spring, summer and fall, pack a light jacket.

Meetings over until Town Board.  Trying to help Pam clean house but Town will NOT leave me alone.  Did get County Planning Director's job done away with.  She had fought me from day one.  Was not qualified.  She will be given another job in the County but not a Director's postion.  Folks around the County [and other County staff] are chearing.

Pam has Graves Disease.  Will treat with meds.  If that works, will not have to "kill" thyroid.

Later.

Good afternoon,

Dennis, Take the Chief''s advice, April in PA is very unpredictable.

Chief, Prayers for Pam, my youngest daughter (Pam also) had the same problem and had to have her's killed.

If all goes as planned will see you guys on Thursday.

I am posting this from my new netbook as I am setting it up with all my favorite sites.

Afternoon All !

Chief, Prayers for Pam. Thumbs Up  Goes double for Brutus and Sir J's better halves. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Dennis, Along with a light jacket take your fiddle as well, if your travelling partner even looks at some deviled eggs you can threaten to practice with your violin. Whistling  Have fun and safe journey.

Jack, They have some some rather unique zoo experinces at the "Wild Animal Park", here in Escondido. Snore & Roar where you actually tent camp inside the park, Segway tours, etc., really cool family adventure if you have some younger kids. The zoo is located right next door to the model rr museum, the park and the zoo are both part of the zoological society.

A bit cooler today, but not as much as they had predicted. They said about 89* today for a high but I have 100* on the patio. Oh well, that's better than yesterday's final of 105*.

Time to go find another cold beverage.

To all those traveling to York, safe travels and enjoy. Also be gentle on the plastic. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Raining here. Only 42. Those netbooks are the latest thing, John!  Glad to hear there's warmth abrewing in Iowa... may it get here soon. Prayers for Pam, Sir J's and Brutus' brides and Brutus' and Jack's dad. Survived my big annual meeting hosting all the high-mucky-mucks for the university. Have class tonight.  Wow, that SD zoo experience sure would be something...  Mike C, I like soccer.  Jack, good battle with the Celts. I prefer the Elvis solution for plumbing problems - shoot more holes for water to come out. Oops. Off to another meeting.
