Can you imagine the inflationary effect that would occur if the Fed suddenly increased the money supply by that amount? We would be pushing wheel barrows of dollars to the store just to buy a loaf of bread, a la Germany in the 1930s.

That would be a real pain having to fill a wheelbarrow, with the way they are spending and already printing it will be bad enuff with having to use a bushel basket. Laugh

Proud supporter of the "Tea Party Protestors". Thumbs Up

What a day at the museum yesterday, the place was packed almost all day. After some early TMCC issues everything went well, no pileups. Smile Took awhile to figure out that one of the cab-1's had an antennae issue, apparently somebody had somehow screwed-up the connection on the rubber ducky that we used to replace the metal ones. The day before they had used Legacy and I assumed it was related to the problem  I had encountered . Spell assume! Oops

Everthing unpacked and put away or back on the shelf for next trip. Did have a chance to visit with a family from Australia yesterday, think there mite be some new 3rail converts downunder. Approve

Later all !

Okay then .... just give us all 1/4 of a million .... execs at the bankrupt banks don't need another mercedes or yacht ! Seems also the doctors here in this area do not need 2 more extra houses and $80,000.00 cars in their driveways ... but they do . And talking about worrying about inflation ... millions have lost their jobs ... savings ... retirements and are scrapeing pennies ... PRICES ARE STILL GOING UP .

Evening all!

Doug:  I was thinking about Butterfly's bad string of luck....Maybe you should take her out for a nice dinner in the City, all dressed up in her prom Garb.  A date with Super(Hubs)Dad!  When 'they' ask if that's you daughter you can say YES!  As a matter of fact it is!  With all this party party, you may need to don a smoking jacket, and start having us call you Murph.

Spent lunch having a picnic with the girls in the Tree House!  Hard to get them to actually sit still and eat, hard for me to leave a relaxing place away from the house!  Great having sunny and 70!

Cleaned garage, and did some work on a new Depot.

Educated the girls on R2, Wookies, Ton-tons, and Darth Vader.  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Looks like I have the keys tonight!  Checking for Beacons!  Don:  Any entertainment your way?

Good Evening All

What a beautiful day. Grandsons party was outside as the temp went to 75. We were all out in summer clothes soaking up the sun while his other grandparents here from Fl. were  wearing sweat shirts. That was most of our day, got home in time for granny to watch her Red Wings game. They won. I had my ice cream already but plenty of banilla for those who climb aboard the thingy tonite...S.J.

Banilla sounds great, come pick me up too!

Just had a very nice, quiet, enjoyable day today.  Hung out and played games with the family, took kids out to buy some books and some supplies for the basement, then brought home some take-out from The St. Louis Bread Company, and watched a movie.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all!

Off on vacation for the next week - and on to York on Tuesday.

Mike C - as of Wed's game, my son's soccer team is undefeated after 3 games for the first time in his soccer career and he has been playing since he was 4 (he is 15 now). He has also made 5 goals in 3 games - his personal best. Hope it continues.

Brutus - that is great about your wife and glad she is on the mend.

Doug - you dodged one there big guy!

Looking at new SUVs. Some pretty low prices at GM and Ford and this low pricing will probably not last very long this year. The pickup and our other main car are over 8 years old and we need a vehicle for cross country trips - esp this year since we will be going to NYC for my daughters graduation present and we are going to take the boat to Tennessee for July 4th week. We made a bit of a mistake buying our last two cars within a year of each other - that means they are encountering more repairs at the same time.

Chief - you available to come do some repairs at my place? It took me from 8 until 3 today to get moving...

Chuck - Mark Martin is in the lead for Phoenix - ouch - a caution just came out with 12 laps to go - not good!

Have a great evening and a great day tomorrow all!

EDIT - lets hear it for the 50 year olds - Mark Martin wins!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Brutus, good to hear the news about your wife, but will keep praying until they know what is going on.  Mowed the yard Friday night.  Thumb kept getting whacked on mower's drive control.  Pain!  Watched "Tropic Thunder" on DVD with wife.  She had never seen it.  Forgot how funny it was.  Needed the laughs.  Reffed two games today.  Both blowouts.  Roy, that is good news about son's team.  After having so many bad years, it makes a good year so much sweeter.  Enjoy!  Will Power is on pole for Long Beach, Meira is 20th for AJ, will watch it over at my dad's, but could be long day.

Adding to my misery Friday night was finding out my Brazilian exchange soccer student won't be able to play on my team this summer.  Although several reasons were given, I think the real reason is that this set of "exchange" parents don't want to fool with taking her to Columbus every Wednesday night.  I was (and am) really bummed because I wanted her to have the experience of playing on a team, which she missed out on last fall due to some stupid high school rules.  I know that in comparison to all the problems of the world and even the serious maladies with in our own little group, this issue does not amount to much, but d--n it still hurts!

Beacon is lit.  I can drive in an emergency, but I may have to "palm" the wheel.  I had waffles and bacon on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening everyone.  Been a busy day here.  Slept late as finally catching up from this past week's fun.  Too many cases and too much going on at home.  Even then, bride took daughter to Ballet recital practice this morning.  Afterwards, we went out to Logan's Steakhouse (place where you can throw your peanut shells on the floor).  Was fun.  Then, went to Home Depot to buy a new mirror for one of the bathrooms upstairs.  Also picked up a cabinet for over the commode.  Came home, mowed 3 acres and washed/waxed cars.  Then, installed cabinet, but mirror will have to wait till morning.

Chief, sounds like you got plenty done.  You've earned a break...and in a few days, you're going to get one.  Can you say YORK?

Brutus, glad wife's tests were negative.  Several other options for low hematocrit.  The camera that she swallows is like a big pill.  Actually, it is pretty amazing stuff.  They load the information in a computer and it gives a nice 3D mapping of the whole system.  You can see not only surface, but also depth of tissue, etc.  Sounds like they are on top of things.

EDW, don't even have to go back to the 30s, one only need look at Zimbabwe.  Robert Mugabe has that place so messed up, the paper the money is printed on is worth more than the notes on the front.  They have 50,000,000.oo bills that couldn't buy a loaf of bread.

Well, gotta get to bed.  I am actually not on any media team duties tomorrow, but suspect I'll get called into service somewhere.  I gave a book to our pastor this past week.  It is called "On Killing".  The book is written by a Col. in the Army who talks about how in the past, even the military couldn't get a soldier to shoot at the enemy.  Now days, the kids do it without remorse.  The same training they do in the military is what many kids are doing on the video games, etc.  They get desensitized to the point that they think nothing of it.  Parents really need to think about the games and movies their kids watch/play.

God Bless,

Dennis

Irie irie boys! Irie English! Fife"mon" back from beautiful St. Thomas (where the temp never dipped below 77) with his lovely tan bride. Trip was over as soon as it began. Sigh

Pirate Log - Tuesday - Those scurvey naves at American Airlines bent me and the Mrs over a barrell all day.  Mechanical failure at BWI, followed by abhorrant customer service (and an over zealous HSA doodle who may have arrived in  this country 3 years ago...) led to a diversion to San Juan.  At San Juan, s'posed to board an ATR at 1420 for the 26 min "hop" to Charlotte Amalie, and at 1420 hrs AA announced another mechanical failure.  And this was followed by more abhorrant customer service that resulted in a boarding pass for an 2030 flight.  We were sitting with some folks who had dug and scratched their way onto a 1645 flight.  We watched everyone get on, and Wifey (who was celebrating her 40th birthday in AA's custody) started to tear up.  At the last second, a woman with a handicapped girl refused to get on the plane (because they couldnt sit together on the now packed transport),  at which time an absolute angel appeared, made some rapid keystrokes, handed us two tickets, said Happy Birthday and GO! Made it to our Secret Harbor hotel at sundown...oh,well...

Pirate Log - Wednesday - Came down with "old soldier" disease (I would lose 10 pounds over the next three days).  Still, cowboy'd up enough to get to our ON DECK sailing trip at 1415 hours at Havensight.  Three cruise ships were in, and the West Indies dock was thriving.  We boarded the FARR 40 racing sloop ($500k) and set out onto the Carribean. Approve Got to work the starboard jib sheet, sit out on the windward gunnels, and steer on the trip back into the harbor.  Went to go take a picture of wifey, and I apparetnly lost the her digital camera before we got on board. Shock  Good feeling over...Disapprove  until we got back to the shop, and the manger held up a little black camera bag!  Good feeling back...Bow  Had a nice dinner at WICKED Bar & Grill, where wifey slowly got numb on PIRATE PUNCH and BUSHWACKERS.

Pirate Log - Thursday - Had a nice breakfast by Nazareth Bay, then back to Havensight for an 1100 cruise on the ATLANTIS XV 48 seater submarine.  This was a cool operation that takes you 80 feet below the surface and through a coral trough.  We wanted to get back to hotel in a hurry (Problem 1) to chill on the beach and to relieve my tookus (Problem 2). We managed to hail the slowest, most beat up safari on the island.  Between the little old ladies passing us, and the foul exhaust smell coming up into the passenger area, I was in an unpleasnt mood by arrival.  But, no worries, we made it to the beach by 2-ish.  I had a great time snorkling while wifey baked her biscuits on the white sands.  Then she asked me to go get her camera to take a picture of the sunset...Shock  Good feeling over...Disapprove

Pirate Log - Friday - Our hotel receptionist is the sister-in-law of V.I. Taxi's dispatcher.  I left a envelope with a 50 in it for the driver if things worked out...  We had an island tour with TROPICAL's Uncle Joe at 0830, then we had to boogie back to the room to get ready for a barefoot sail/beach bar-b-que at the docks at 1500.  Even got in a little snorklin' in between with the disposable waterproof camera from the gift shop Thumbs Up.  Got to crew on the 53' custom catermaran (leaving wifey to wonder why we were paying them...it's all good).  Got back to room about 1900, and sitting on the table was wifey's Boomerang Sony Cybershot!!! Good feeling back...Big SmileYeah!!Bow  Wifey spent the remainder of the evening getting "bushwacked" as we relaxed to a steel drum performer at the Blue Moon Cafe.

Pirate Log - Saturday - Taxi picks us up at 0-dark-thirty for our return to the airport.  Our old nemesis AA is of course on time for our flight to Miami.  We get on our connecting flight to BWI, roll away from the terminal, and more mechanical problems...Banged Head  Like the lovely AA stewardesses say "You have a choice in air travel...", and we will definitely exercise it next time, to be sure...

sir james "mon" - Just spent the past hour reading the ten pages since I've been gone.  Y'all had me reaching around for some PROZAC! Blindfold Geesh!  I think you had the cheeriest post about the visiting outlaws. Laugh

tmcc "mon" - If you are headed down the law enforcement path, you may want to avoid paying for criminal justice courses before you sign up.  Reason being, a lot of police academies (but not all) are tied into local college courses, and you may wind up with credits that you could've avoided paying for (heard a lot of whining from my classmates many moons ago).  Check with your police EEAD officer first to make sure you're not spinning your wheels before you turn 21.  My advice is to take courses in English, Business Management, and leadership.  Heck, even throw in some photography courses in there too (good resume builder).

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 48 degrees. Going up to 60 today with rain in the forecast.

Today is a relaxing day. I will watch the ballgame , later. Maybe in the train room. It looks like the Indians won yesterday. I feel 22 runs were enough. WOW.

No Nascar race today. Good race yesterday.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

I rated the SPF with 5 stars. Great pictures, Guys.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Tis good to be back, boys.  Thanks.  Some casual observations about St Thomas:

Had to resist the urge from grabbing the steering wheel out of the taxi drivers grasp, as they drive on the left side of the road (even though they use leftside steering).  They insist it is truly the way driving was intended, due to survivabilty with headons.

YOU are the biggest industry on the island.  No tourists=no work.  Specifically when those cruise ships hit the West Indie Dock.  When they are gone, carpets are rolled up and doors are locked.

Three next biggest industries (from my observations) are 1) Taxis 2) Tow trucks 3) Guardrail repairs!  I would suggest resisting the urge to rent a car (with the exception of a family vacation).  It would be too easy to make a mistake on a turn and KA-POW!  The roads are forever winding, on some type of grade, and narrow.

IGUANA CROSSING signs (gotta love that one!)

Don't try and do it all in 4 DAYS like this one couple I know....

Afternoon all. Cold and raining today - supposed to stay miserable until next weekend. Nice indoors day.

I'm officially outta surprises. We celebrated our anniversary last eve - the big 2-0 (which is actually Wed.). Anyway, went downtown to a fondue restaurant we always go to for major occasions...and the waiter helped me surprise the bride with a bauble in a box in the the chocolate fondue pot (without the chocolate). Wink

Welcome Back, Fife-mon.

Kurt, that's a great idea for Butterfly. I am also considering taking her to a (shudder) Cubs game that day, and she can use the dress (altered) for graduation...

Good evening all,

It is cloudy, cooler and rainy in SE Indiana.  Did weights at the YMCA and went over to my dad's to watch the IRL race.  Only good part is that the next few races are on ovals.  Sarah Fisher will be at some of them and hopefully Vitor and AJ will have some better luck.  The only problem with Franchitti winning is that d--n Ashley Judd gets to spout her stupid mouth off.  After those comments about Milka Duno she made a couple of years ago, I hope he never wins again.  The only reason he's back in the IRL is that Ashley got tired of not being interviewed when Dario finished 39th in a NASCAR race.  Congrats to Mark Martin as well, and to Vettel for giving the "senior" Red Bull team their first win in F-1.  Congrats to Doug M. on 20 wedded years!  Congrats to Fifedog on a safe return from the trip.  I had waffles and bacon on the dining car for breakfast.  Beacon is lit.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evenin Fellas - back from under the sink...

I officially HATE, DESPISE, DETEST, plumbing! If it weren't for plumbing I would've had this garbage disposer and sink installed yesterday by 10:00am... BUT NO!!!!! 5 trips - YES FIVE trips to Lowes, 84 Lumber, True Value and I STILL have a leak... Banged Head, and not one that can easily be fixed. It is at the screw joint for the P trap!

Sink holds water, dishwasher supply line holds water (after three trips to get the right parts), disposer has not electricity (that will be fixed by a friend in the next couple weeks), and I have a leak I can't fix...

8n - we bought a new faucet when we moved in 3 years ago - no need for a new one! Smile

I'm so tired and frustrated...

Fife-mon - Glad you had a good trip! When we were leaving for our honeymoon we got a call at 2 am that our flight out of BWI had been cancelled (crew couldn't be turned over fast enough), we could either fly out of Dulles or wait 24 hrs... we chose Dulles... got there 2 hours before flight time and they had to hold the flight and let use through security (skip in front of @ 150 people)... then we get to San Juan and are told we have 5 minutes to make our connecting flight - only to run through the airport and arrive at the gate (on time mind you) to be told there was a 30 minute delay - they couldn't locate the plane! HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH DO YOU LOSE A PLANE!!!!!!!??????

Forgot to mention this in my last rant.

On our way from Frederick to Westminster (Lowes in Frederick didn't have SusieQ's new powder room mirror) I took 'The Scenic Route' which took us through Walkersville, MD. As we are approaching town I see a RR Xing sign... then as we get closer I see a PRR Portal Caboose on a siding (think to myself 'Dang that looks pretty nice' then I see a passenger car and an open air passenger car, look in the rearview mirror and see a Nickle Plate Road caboose.) and I'm now wonder what this is... quite google search http://www.wsrr.org/ I didn't even know this existed... and it is less than 30 minutes from my house!
