Raining here, like cats and dogs - watch out for the poodles...Laugh

Tried to ride the Harley yesterday and of course, it wouldn't start....and I had an appointment to trade it in.  Had it towed to HD again and Walter, the tow guy, remembered where I live...go figure.  I went to the shop and they couldn't start it either....so now I don't look like an a$$....Banged Head.

Looking like I'm disgusted with the current layout, I'm thinking it's time for a redo....just need time....

Gonna put a bunch of Fastrack on either the 'bay or choochoo, not sure which yet..too early.

Work frought with issues and of course in the rain, I'm already soaked...time for a cup o'joe

see ya inna bit

Just sat down with my second cup ... was looking through a case of my diecast cars I packed away a long time ago ... Lo and behold I found a 180 watt lionel brick I forgot I bought ! I  packed it away by mistake with the cars .

Laz - I'll forgive for not knowing....Bobby Mercer passed away late last year of Brain Cancer, so, it wasn't him.

This guy is a hedge fund administrator in Manhatten.

I just sold all may trains on ebay for $50 and chopped up my layout and set it on fire, while dancing around it...

Walked out the office door at lunch with nowhere in particular to go - ended up blocks away at a good used bookstore - how good? It has one entire wall of books about British railways. Picked up Engines of the Bluebell Railway for $6.60 So I'm happy for the rest of the day.

Rich, I wonder what's wrong with that Harley - what a saga.

1. I see Bergie does not look at the Threads on CTT.  Locked the #5 Pot and said someone start a new one.  A new one [#6] had alrady been started.  [started from Town Hall so did not have his or Bob's email in thsi computer]

2. Some slimey lower than a snake's belly sliped in and graded the Pot down.

Meetings over but a lot of Town Hall "stuff" to do.  Need to be on tractor and bottomplow breaking up the garden as it is not raining yet.  Just sprinkled a little this AM and then dried up.  Doing Town "stuff" instead of my "stuff". Banged Head

I missed 3 days on the Pot and......Hamlet.  Expert but dangerous marital advice.  The romantic use of shaving cream vs.whipped cream.  Motorcycle arson.  Skunks.  "Who trashed my (car, lawn mower, fill in the blank)?, floods, drought, grandsons wreaking havoc on selves and others.  Just read about a dozen back pages and can't keep up.

Re the skunks......when I was dating my wife, she came over to my house for a quiet romantic evening of steaks on the grill and wine.  It was a beautiful clear and warm evening, so we decided to sit on the front steps and enjoy the stars.  Then she said "Oh, look, what a pretty cat." as a skunk walked right by us, not 3 feet away.  In Fife fashion, I told her to freeze.  Didn't want us to spend the rest of the evening in the shower, though the thought had occured to me. Whistling

Jon.....at 3 my son ate thumbtacks.  Phoned Doc.  Doc advised waiting 3 days, felt they would pass, advised we watch for ill effects in the meantime, then x-ray.  Wife would have none of that.  Marched the kid off to the hospital.  Demanded x-rays be performed....Doc strolls in.  "Yup, 3 thumbtacks. Now go home and do what I told you in the first place, and bring the boy back in 3 days for another set of x-rays."  Grandma gets into the act to stay over and monitor, starts sifting through every load for 3 days.  Tells daughter/my wife nothing has passed.  Now both are frantic.  Off to the Doc for the second set of x-rays.  Thumbtacks are gone!  How can that be?  I remarked they must have been taken by the thumbtack fairy.  Wife and MIL highly incensed, but the Doc got a good chuckle out of it.

Chief......glad grandson Carter is ok from his trike ride down the stairs.  Sons and grandsons seem to find ways to inflict damage on themselves while the girls dodge most of that stuff.  You mentioned that "Mom" was worse off than Carter.  Tells her to stop riding her bike down the stairs after him. Big Smile  Glad to hear that your Mom is OK and that things are settling down on that front. Thumbs Up  But you are still hacking away! Sad  You better not wind up in the hospital over this because you won't take it easy.  If you do, we'll be forced to come visit you and embarass you to death in front of the medical staff and your relatives. Smile,Wink, & Grin

MikeC.....read where you went to "Mass."  Why didn't you stop by?  What's with all of the toe injuries in your family?  Must be a male hereditary thing.  Hope your grandson is recovering nicely.  Lucas is next. Laugh

8N......bats in your trainroom.  Is that anything like like bats in your belfry?

Kurt......you build some really nice stuff for your layout.  Thumbs Up  Are you for hire?

Laz.....you spilled a beer in the train room?  Glad you believe wasting is a sin and licked it up, hope wife didn't see.  How do you get Wisconsin chickens in PA.?  I'm with you on the baseball/sports debacle where the fan is priced out of attending a live game.  I'm with Dennis.....AA and triple A for this boy and my SIL.  Same with hockey.

JimSP.....so you are a bachelor temporarily.  Ask DougM and me for free advice off-line on how to take advantage of this beautiful respite.

DougM......at least at Chicago O'Hare you have an area to pick up arriving passengers.  At Boston Logan there is about 20 yards of curb space for 3 airlines.  And the State Police walk the sidewalk to immediately move you on if your party isn't standing right there waiting for you.  Worst major metropolitan airport in the US, bar none.  My wife once actually yelled at one of the officers who was shouting at me to move on as she was making her way to the car.  I looked at him and shrugged with a comment "Welcome to my world."  Got a smile out of him as if he were saying "Good luck with that one.  Better you than me."

Ray......with your 50th anniversary coming up in November, based on the age you said you were in the Forum's age survey, it occured to me you must have gotten married when you were 10.  Suppose they let folks do that kind of stuff down South, and before you moved to CA. Whistling  BTW, re my avatar, you better pray you never look like me.

SJ and Don.....thank you for your marital tips.  Brent and I will be looking for a place to stay once we have tried them out.

Fife......many of us realize that the circus clown photo claiming it was you was a sham.  We saw your vacation pictures a year ago and realize that you dress up differently, like you were auditioning for the Sopranos or another Godfather movie.  Seriously, you looked pretty dapper in those vacation photos.  I enjoyed your boat exchange with Jon.  A 30'-40' sailboat would indeed be large enough for us to join you guys.  We'll bring the beer.

RT.....DO NOT SHOOT THE NEIGHBOR'S DOG.  Shoot the neighbor.  Or better yet, be proactive and borrow my Doberman.  They are pretty good at keeping unwanted visitors, human and canine, out of the yard and your wife's garden in the first place.

OleTimer......re the Yankees winning it all this year.  Dream on, they don't have the pitching.

Banks.....so how is the grandkids' visit coming along.  Don't ask Chief or MikeC for any ideas or you will be spending some time at the hospital with them.  Trains ARE safe.

Brent.....I slipped my 2046 into the wife's china cabinet one Christmas to keep it out of harms way while we celebrated Christmas chaos at my place.  I got caught taking it out to run it.  Not a pretty encounter.  And I don't think my wife would fall for the lesser of two evils approach as Don suggested Susan might.  She won't.  You are living on borrowed time using HER dining room table.

JimT.....there must be some unsuspecting relative close by who would be willing to store some of your trains for the time being.  Don't sell them!  The Probe will be long gone and forgotten while trains are for a lifetime.

Dennis.....your rainfall must be outstripping Chief's terrible amount.  Send some of the water to Laz.  He said he needs it.

Mitch.....congrats on your niece's Confirmation.  Hope the celebration was fun.

Mel.....wasn't an hour on the nitrous oxide at the dentist's office fun?  Torn handrail on your 5629......Sad  The cows on your cattle platform are vicious little suckers.

Patrick.....just saw your photo.  You and I need to go in for some touch up of that gray.  Might cost less if we just shaved our heads.

Roger.....re your train club meeting today.  Leave your train stuff at home until April 1 passes.  Some of the boys might hide a favorite piece of yours just to see your panic and your subsequent heart attack.

Rich.....before you torch the HD, make sure the insurance appraised value will get you out from under it and fund the replacement.  Seriously, that whole issue is discouraging just to read about it.

Charlie.....thanks for the FBI's 6 most wanted photos.  There are more of us out here vying for the remaining 4 slots to round out the top 10.

Later, gang.

Jack

Jack, don't know what happened unless I made a mistake somewhere.  To set the record straight, I was born in Oct.,1936.  That makes me 72 years old now.  I was married at age 23 in  November 1959. That makes this year (2009) our 50th wedding anniversary.  Ten years old is a little young even for the South.  I think I was still scared of girls at that point.

Chief,

Did you get the antivirus/spyware issue resolved?

Jack,

As long as I can find parts, the Probe isn't going anywhere.Smile  I wouldn't sell it for anything.  I am thinking of contacting the original owner to see if she still has any paperwork or the brochure.  BTW, I had an encounter with a Doberman at a salvage yard one time.  I was looking through a Probe SE when I heard a loud bark.  I didn't want to waste time looking to see where it came from, so I jumped onto the hood.  It turns out that the dog was chained up on the other side of the fence that the car was against. That was a relief.

Afternoon Y'all!  I see we are on another pot....??????  Someday I'll understand, but what do I know, my system at home is still down, so I am not the computor guy.  I used to know a fair bit back in the days of Basic and Fortran, but have not kept up.  Still looking for the place to load the stack of cards.

Buckeye, I had heard something about his highness dictating how a private corporation should function.  Bad thing when the government takes over industry.  As Ronald Reagan said " the scariest words in history are 'I am from the government, and I am here to help'".

A few cases to finish up, but tomorrow I'll be paying for it as it will be quite busy.  Did want to mention that I feel blessed for a lot of things.  Coming here to associate with such a diverse crowd of fine people is amoung them.  In case it hasn't been said, I appreciate all of you...THanks,

Dennis

Afternoon all!

What a morning...Ok... Who started this?

Yesterday afternoon:  Washing machine just decided to quit yesterday...just quit.  OK!  It's probably the timer...I have one of those in the garage!

This 4:30am:  Added lights to Ore Tipple, and wanted to photograph this am.  One light doesn't work.  I scramble to get the loght changed.  All fixed.

6:00am:  Ready to fix the washer.  Went into the garage attic to get the nutdrivers.  Attic pull down stair breaks.  Spring flies off.

Get the Washing machine back together, and it overflows.  Banged Head   Water just wouldn't shut off.  Bride says to go pick another one out.  Mischief

Researching for a new washer online I find some helpfull hints...I must have pinched the vacumn hose for the fill level...took it all apart 2- additional times, and washer all fixed.

Whatta day.

We did manage to find a checkers game...4-yo and I managed to fit in a rousing game of checkers!

Kurt

Evenin' boys.  Wet and 53 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Pulled a "gasket" in my back yesterday catching a ladder, and it's been Motrin to the rescue since.  Work was kinda dead, BUT, while cruising by the waterfront actually saw the sailboat I'm lusting after. jonadel, it's as pretty and sleek in person as on the listing. I could easily picture myself pulling up to a waterfront restaurant on that. Didn't get to check inside.  RockIsland, this baby is more brie and bubbly than beer and tater-salad...but hold that thought.

Welcome back fife, we don't hear as much from you when you are on days.

Been watching Cheers on DVD. When you say "evening boys" I think "evening Norm". That boat has got to go some to beat beer and tater-salad!Confused

Fife-- I think your new "mistress" has you in her grasp, I totally understand :) A nice Chardonay with brie at sunset is pretty hard to beat, talk about instant relief therapy. I had never heard a sunset applauded until we were at Mallory Square last month in Key West, you have to experience it to understand it. Fife--GO FOR IT!! To my friends on the forum: concerning the current political statements on this forum, PLEASE do all us a favor and keep your feelings to yourself, I want this forum to remain a "train/fun" forum. I honestly could care less about your political feelings and I'm sure you could care less about mine unless I agree with you. Years and years ago we (the boss and I) learned that feelings are neither right nor wrong, they are feelings. I do care about feelings but they simply don't belong on a train/fun forum, take it off line if you feel the need--talk to like minded friends, it will benefit all of us. It's still OK (IMO) to question Chief's culinary indiscretions (GRITS) and Buckeye's favorite switches and Laz's Bear, those are fun topics but the political comments simply don't belong here. Just my .02.

Oops. Someone with thin skin? I didn't think the comments were all that bad. An Oboma supporter with misgivings?  I find the Coffee Pot is more than train things, it is other "fun" things as well. Anyone else want to weight in on this?

I've got it baaaaad...
