Morning from a cold, grey, rainy, but spiffy Chicago where all stops are pulled out to 'impress' visiting free-loaders from the International Olympic Committee. Ran trains last night - the Susie-Q is a great car that fits right into the various consists.  Laz, Cutler's going to miss his o-line.

Not thrilled with the daughter's prom dress - I never am, but she'll never know. Wink

Chief, Friday is a true day of reverence for those of us who still 'work'

It is a rainy 50 degrees. Going up to 60 today, with rain all day.

Today is a usual day. Chores to do and one errand to run. Then, I will relax the rest of the day.

Buckeye....TGIF

Dining car arrived from "Points West" and we had the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Chief, while everyday has the potential for a workday for me, I'd prefer to have at least a glimmer of hope for a easy weekend.  I vote NO on the ballot.

Mike, thanks for the thoughts.  I'll keep the family violinist towards minimal damage.  I think Chief will want me to keep my practice to the homestead....BTW, I broke my first string on a violin last night...it was startling!

Thanks for the kind thoughts about my son guys.  I know we are not supposed to be proud, but I certainly am about him.  He has done well.  He can still be a pain in the backside, but then again, so can I.

Just one case today, but I have plenty of paperwork to do.  Sun is finally out this morning, but more rain is expected.  They closed several roads down and evacuated a few areas of town.  Nothing close to the folks in North Dakota, but trouble enough.  Supposedly, some girl called her aunt to say that she was in her car on Wed. and that she got washed off the bridge in the flood.  The aunt panics, calls 911.  Fire Dept. spends an hour at night, looking for this girl.  She then calls her mother to tell her how she played an "April Fools Joke" on her aunt.  Fire Dept. was not amused.  We have a term for that, but idiot seems to fit.

Well, Friday is upon us.  I hope that everyone has a blessed weekend.

Listen to the whinning.  Mayor's job is 24/7.  That is why I am paid so much. Laugh  Dennis understands as he is on call all the time too.  But folks like Buckeye, who go around with some local government job sitting in meetings and going to conventions should just do that seven days a week.  Then there is Don Baker, he tries to work 7 days a week [with the weekend shows he works].  Set your example after him. We're all meeting in Baltimore on Fife's new boat --- The USS Magnum Force Laugh

We can play 18 at the Congressional....it's closer and I don't have a passport...Banged Head

Up to 73 Breezy Sun has made a re-apperance nice today and tomorrow worse Sunday, Monday & Tuesday, getting cooler every day.  This after multiple Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Watches were posted throughout the night, very LOUD T-BOOMERS last night as well.

No word on the HD - yet.  I'll check with them after work...though the salesman already called me

Worked on the GG1 for the LTS, I'm thinking the motor & truck are bad, so I'm just waiting for Lionel to get back with me.  On the flip side, MTH is sending me 2 chips for 2 CSX SD60M that don't do anything but idle.  Real quick response (hey Jon & Mike at Lionel --- you listening? Whistling)

Nice chat with Brutus last night!!  He surpised me on my "farm".

Morning...again!

LAZ:  I'm in!  We sat through the time share blah blah to get on the $220 courses, for free.  That course may be worth paying for!   I haven't played in a few years, but I don't think practice will matter there.  Passport shined up and ready to fly!

Nice chat with Charlie, and SJ this am!  Charlie, package shipped USPS!  You should see it tomorrow!

 Hello All:

Had the plumbers out this morning for the third time in 3 weeks. They had the pump at the bottom of the well to low and we were getting dirt from the faucets. Raised the pump 10' at no charge.

Brutus - Thanks for the chance to drive the Tardis last night. Always a lot of fun.

Mitch - Speaking of standard gauge, did you see Merle Levitt's standard gauge layout on "I Love Toy Trains" on RFD-TV yesterday?

Mike C - I would be just as happy to make many stops for pork tenderloins, especially with col slaw on a tosted bun. I know a place in Iowa that makes one of the best. Lets conspire to get you to drive the Tardis and head that way!

Fife - My guess is you are a typical father like the rest of us, your middle princess would be a knock out in any dress.

Ole Timer - Dare I ask? Why not - - - what about the prostate check? Don't think that would be the precise time to make a joke however!

8ntrack - Your stew made my mouth water. No, it's not old man droole. Have you seen the "Cowboy Flavor" show on RFD-TV? If you can get used to the host's 24 inch wide mustach, he does a great job of cooking outside with cast iron.

Chief - Felt western hat watching westerns on the western chanel. Sounds like a great way to relax.

Laz57 - As a contrast to your amazing golf hole, did you see the episode on "Postcards from Neberaska" on RFD-TV where the 35 Yr. old golf course was a cow field? Balls bounce off the cows, and they had fences around the greens. One rule - if you kill it you buy it.

I notice I mentioned RFD-TV three times in this post. You whink I watch this station?

Just got finishing watching and burning a copy of  - A Century of Lionel Trains - it's a darn good video and I learned alot from it . If anyone has'nt seen it it's well worth watching . My son got it at the local library for me ... it's probably at yours . It covers from day 1 of Lionel until tmcc and railsounds complete . All the train engines ,cars , and every addon they ever made . Even the paper trains they had to make during the war because of the metal shortage .

What's so special about Friday? Why, Friday means that there are only two more working days until Monday!

Lawson Farms - I have not seen that cooking show yet.  I'll check to see if I've got RFD-TV on my satelite.

50's and sunny here today.  Supposed to be nice for most of tomorrow.

Later, all.  We picked up a copy of the latest James Bond film tonight.  It is tonight's entertainment.

Patrick,

Is Justin Wilson's cooking show still on RFDTV?  That was a funny show for sure.  It used to be on after I Love Toy Trains.

88,

I hope that the trash compactor never made an appearance.Shock  Are you still looking for the Lionelville Firehouse?

Not much on the train front, except that the pipe has been fixed, and I just need to wait for the cement to cure.  I ordered some Fastrack to play with in the meantime.  I am thinking of putting some tubular down, then gradually phasing in the Fastrack.  Too pricey to do all in one shot.  I went to Walmart today to buy oil and a filter for the Probe, as well as more paint so I can finish restoring the wiper arms.  The oil that is in the car now doesn't have any miles on it, but I put that Engine Restore stuff in with it.  I haven't been sleeping well knowing that it is in there after I read some things about it.  Has anyone ever used it?  I also went to Lowes to get prices on wood and indoor/outdoor carpet.

Evenin' All.

Gave up golf long time ago, turned out it was hazardous to my health. If you really want to hear the punchline I'll have to e-mail it, not appropriate here.

However, I'd be more than willing to volunteer to handle the bartender's duties from the barcart. Pirate

Iron skillet cornbread, yumyum. Corn is processed with lye, olives also.

Ole Timer, I couldn't stay on a skateboard let alone a snowboard, wife says I can't walk and talk at the same time. After my last tumble down the steps I tend to agree. Had to hang-up the skis, my knees told me it was time to quit. Maybe I should dig my Stetson out of the closet, it is definitely in need of cleaning & blocking.

What a long day today, shlepping all that stuff to the museum and back. I'm pooped. Hopefully the photoshoot will meet their needs, shall see what happens.

Time for some coffee to see if it will help keep me awake for awhile.

Later all.

Southern Cal not so sunny today.  Cold and cloudy but took a walk anyway.  Played with trains this afternoon with only minor derailment. (ran through switch).  We had the termite guys here yesterday doing a complete around the house treatment for subteranean termites.  The stuff is not a contact killer but is a bait that the little beasties take back to their colony and spread to the whole lot of them .  It was'nt cheap but what is these days.  At least we did'nt have to tent the house as you do when you have dry wood termites.  Next is a roofing job due the day afte Easter.  I'm finally getting caught up on house maintenence.  Don't feel too hot this afternoon.  Must be the weather.  Went to McDonalds with wife for a fillet of fish meal.  (what a joke) and the price tag was over $12.00.  Whatever happened to cheap fast food?  All we had was a little fish sandwich, some fries and a drink.  The wife got some cookies but that was only a buck.  Remember when McDonalds had hamburgers for 20 cents?  I guess the problem is that our money is not worth anything any more and it will probably get worse.  If I have to pay over $`10 bucks for junk food, I think next time I will go to a real restaurant even if I pay more.  At least I'll get real food.

Good night all, Ray

RT, You are correct, he did die.  They still played his program for awhile, but it has been quite some time since I have seen it.

Regarding Golf, used to play, haven't picked up a club in over 8 years.  However, I do shoot the golf balls at 500 yards with a high power rifle....a lot more fun!  I think most guys would say that if a course only has one hole, it must be the 19th.

Case was quite long today and so I am both tired and worried that I may have to go back in.  Heading off to sleep.  Watched a bit of "When Giants Roamed" on DVR.  It was from the "Voyages" program.  This one is on Big steam engines up until the final days of N&W.  Had some good interviews with O.Winston Link and some of the old railroad men of the steam era.

God Bless,
Dennis
