Well, I knew it was a manner of time.  Wake Co Sheriff's SRT Team shot a man this AM.

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/4912407/

Got a call from Oldest that Frankie's wife called to say SRT team shot a guy in shoot out and all dupties are OK.  Talked to Frankie very briefly at noon.  Still can't get to him to get more details.  Got more from TV news than anywhere.

BTW: Ophra's morning radio show yesterday was pro-gun control.  Shame on her.  Seh would not let folks explain even though she was asking them to call in and explain.  Wanted to call her and tell her she was predigest and she should know what that word ment.

Chief..........Aren't you a little old to be watching listening to Oprah?  Oprah must have told you that the guy in Wake County was a good boy or had his mother on telling everyone he is such a good boy.   Have you ever noticed that it seems that everyone who shoots, robs or rapes is always described as "good boy"?

I'm for gun control....Let's see if I remember.  Put the stock tight against your shoulder and squeeze the trigger.

Fife, I think there is an icon where the volume control is that will turn off the "closed captioning".

Spent part of the day with our financial adviser, kinda good news / bad news visit.

Bad news, my investment portfolio has taken some really big hits this year. ShockSadSigh

Good news, my wifes portfolio has taken some hits but is still in real good shape.

Net result, she should be able to support me in my later years in a style to which I have become accustomed to living.  Laugh

Still have some finishing touches to put on the cars for the Easter Train. Haven't decided on motive power yet, still reviewing the latest applicants for the priveledge.

Good Evening

I wonder how many tv stations those rabbit ears will get.

Sunny and 52 today, I spent a little time with the trains but no big news. Played PS2 golf, and watched tv.

I will wait for Brutus with banilla at the ready...S.J.

88, even worse.  I really think it was OSP.

Well, transit meeting over.  Still fighting over which type of rail to build.  Light rail and build all new everything or commuter rail and run on freight track already there and get more distance for the $$$ [the one I am fighting for].  Now to rest.  Did get garden disked again [neighbor's too].  Ran my corn rows, cabbage rows and onion rows.  Sowed spinish, several types of lettuce and carrotts.  Will do beds tomorrow AM and plant my zucchini, squash and tomatoes.  Plant corn, set out onions and cabbage.  Then get the "kids" and drive to the lake.  Pam following later.

"Go with the 6 inch extension, but instead of having the lower tracks bumped out from the upper tracks, have them underneath like a tunnel but with the exterior tunnel wall removed?"

Interesting idea. I see your point, Brent. Are you going to build up the town around the curve then...

Chief, thought of you as we sailed past two NS engines pulling a long trailer-train at a CN (ex E&JE) crossing.

Worked on the toilet in the infamously-redone bathroom. Jammed up again. Going to replace it with one with a bigger pipe...

JohnF - sorry for your loss, sir Sad

88 - sounds like a very interesting idea with the layout!

DougM - Somewhere I have a comparison chart on toilets and ability to evacuate solids.  If you want it, I'll email it to you.

Tonight begins a 5 day vacation for me - will hang with the kids and get some work done on the basement.  If the weather cooperates, I need to replace an outside drain from one of the downspouts.

TARDIS is running a little late, but thanks to the way-back circuit, this should be no real problem Wink  See you all later!

Morning all!

Quiet day here.  Ran the GP-15 yesterday with 2-yo!  Just for fun, I tried the Lionel H-16-44 that had sound but no movement about 3-weeks ago...All better...Banged Head...Ran both at the same time on my ittle layout...That will keep you on your toes!  No Pile-ups.

Hopefully warm today, so off to the park.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s again.  Rain may move in later.  Played soccer for hour and a half with the high school kids with NO injuries.  Legs a little sore but basically ok.  I got a little payback on Tuesday as I stepped it up against the Brazilian exchange student.  She still mangaged to get some goals, and so she is getting better.  I did not play as well as I wanted to Wednesday night, but there were some good moments.  The kids get faster and I get slower.  No TV last night.  Mailed in Lucas' federal taxes.  Had to use 1040A for crying out loud.  What a pain!   Saw the new Brute video from MTH with Taylor last night.  It was pulling three state set cars and they looked small in comparison.  Taylor is easy on the eyes as well.  Wonder if she really likes trains or if it is just a job?  Now if she liked soccer and auto racing.....   Speaking of racing, Doug M., F-1 is kind of hard to explain as to why I like it.  Seeing it at Indy really got me hooked.  Part of it is the atmosphere that surrounds the place.  Part of it is the intensity of the fans.  They really get into it.  I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  Beacon is lit and I can drive again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' Fellas.

Spent some time in the trainroom last night. Dismantled the track mockup, put the storage bin, MTH bridge box, and set box under the layout and then built the extension out of some scrap I had laying around. The extension is 7 inches deep and provides ample room for the two lower tracks. Have to get two ceiling tiles so I can get the subroadbed installed, then I can extend the track onto the extension. Thumbs Up Then it is on to building the inner tunnel wall and ceiling. Should have pics this weekend.

Doug - To get an idea of where the town would be you would have to stand facing the layout with your back against the wall standing infront of the two switches. Now envision the town picture. The gas station would be to your right inside the inner curve facing away from you. The Cathedral would be back toward your right and the town would extend infront of you toward your left. Behind the second row of buildings there is a siding and behind the siding will be large complex of large buildings (Domino Sugar plant). Looking at the town picture there are two open spaces in the layout. The large opening is where the custom 4 story theater will be, to its left is another opening and that is where the Hard Rock Cafe is going to be. I have the Franklin Bank on pre-order and not sure where that will go - it may replace another building somewhere. Also have the pet sounds store on order and want to get a police station somewhere in the town as well. This is why I modified the track so there is also some additional width available. To the left of the gas station is where Crabby Matt's is going to be and next is where the Lionel Operating Train Store is going to be. When I had everything mocked up on the dinning room table I started to get the sense of a crowded, bustling city - much like Baltimore... and there is one more building that wasn't in the town mockup that will add the final 'Baltimore touch' as well.

Still need to get the stone arch bridge built... still 'thinking' about how I want this to look... maybe I should just bite the bullet and get to it?

JohnF - Sorry I missed the note about your friend passing away. Prayers for you and yours.

On a somber note I got a call late last night from my sister. One of my parents' friends passed yesterday very unexpectedly. He had just left the doctor's office, where he got a Thumbs Up and clean bill of health. He suffered a heart attack and didn't pull through. Just celebrated his 60th earlier this year. Vietnam Vet, Marines, when I was entering the Army he told me a story about how one night they were out in the field and had to tie their sleeping bags to trees to keep from rolling down the hill because the Air Force was bombing a hill across the valley. When the Sun rose the following morning the hill top no longer existed. A few weeks later his leg got torn up by shrapnel from a gernade - did not lose the leg but he had a hard time walking through out his life. He will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. Good Morning from beautiful Southern Ohio

A little cool but sunny.  Taking another vacation day.  Practicing the Easter Proclamation for Saturday Vigil Mass.  Two loads of laundry done and on the line.  Tonight is Holy Thursday, the start of the Paschal Triduum, the three day celebration of the passion death and resurrection of the Lord begins.

When is York?  The bride is wanting to take a mini vacation in the north east and maybe .  .  .  .?

Rich – Get DougM’s car yet?

Brent – The under over sounds like it may work.  Would the rate of rise be a problem?

Doug – I’m going to copy a set of those ears, the grandkids would love it!

Chief – The garden sounds like it is coming along.  It will be a couple more weeks before I set stuff out.  We have had a mess of asparagus already.

DougM – Is the toilet venting properly?

Prayers for those in need, which is all of us but especially for those with troubled hearts

May God bless

Jim

John F & Brent : Angel for your friends

Up to 78 today partly cloudy and breezy.

Seems that we have been adopted by a cat at work.  This sweet calico has been coming around and she has a collar, but she dosen't leave here....so we (the guys out back) are feeding her and looking for her kittens, if she has any.  And she talks -- typical female, just talks all the time.  But she's a sweetie.

Cleaned the train room last night got the new ZW and Legacy to work - pictures on Sunday I hope..

Will check in later!

Rich

I turned down a trip to the train store this AM as we needed to do food shopping for easter. Even the low price, no brand name store has raised prices. ouch. No matter I will be helping out there soon so the guys can go to York. No plans for the day so I will just see how it goes....S.J.

 YORK is getting closer.Thumbs UpSmile,Wink, & Grin

We worked on the grandsons HO layout this morning. Got the switch machines installed and half of them wired. It was a beautiful day so I told him he better mow the grass since we can finish the wiring when it is raining.

Have a nice Easter weekend.
