Happy Birthday Spanky Bird.

Quit raining here a little after noon.  Looks like tomorrow will be reasonable.

Ripped out a floor and a half of 4" iron vent stack today. Replaced with plastic.  Now the upstairs bathroom closet flange will end up being on the floor instead of 1 1/2" above it.  One of the goals on the bathroom remodel was to get the floor closer to the same level as the hallway floor.  The last guy who fixed it had a mix of plastic fittings adapted to the old iron.  He ended up raising the floor to make the plumbing come out even.  Left an unsupported floor joint right under the toilet while he was at it.  The whole project more or less started with the intent of just replacing the wax ring, which failed because of the unsupported joint, which failed because.......

My 95 year old house sure hase been kluged in interesting ways over the years.

How does the song go - the lady swallowed the spider to catch the fly....

Too tired to cook dinner.  My wife and I went to one of the local BBQ resturants - she had BBQ chicken, I had smoked brisket.  Cowboy chips and fried green tomatoes too.  Stick a fork in me - I'm done.

8ntruck - had a similar problem with a flange put in by the builder on this house - it was tilted so it hit the bottom of the toilet, which would rock on it and break the seal.  That was a heck of a project you did bro Bow

Happy Birthday Tom P (Spankybird) - congrats on that gold!  Happy B-Day

Laz - I witnessed a horrible tragedy 2 days ago.  Wife sent me to get groceries.  Picked up some supplies along with the food and other non-essentials.  Well, while loading the truck, apparently one bottle cap hooked on the next cardboard carton and a sad bottle found itself falling and exploding into a huge mess on the parking lot - beer all over my shoes.  Dead

Had some nice talks today with Charlie and Sir James.  Watched a funny horror movie this morning: Jack Brooks Monster Slayer Thumbs Up  Got the windows framed in the basement for drywall and some mess cleared away so it will be easier to work.  Need to paint the closet area still though.  Hope to pick up a few more sheets of drywall tomorrow if it wll stop raining for one day, as well as a can of paint.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It is a cloudy day in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  Had a doctor's appointment to check the toe.  All clear for soccer!  Swept the house today, went to the YMCA to do weights, track work and soccer juggling.  Watched "Dollhouse" and "Numb3rs".  Did some Second Life Thursday night and won some more money.  Lucas and I will mow tomorrow.  Spent some time over at my dad's working on his HO layout.  It runs fairly well, but still it is HO.  Beacon is lit.  Doug M. nice to hear you like my driving the Tardis.  Happy Birthday, Spankybird.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Tom was on the forum when I found it.  Came back early.  Storms moving in and we had to come back for Pam's Mom's cookout.  She always does one the Sat. before Easter.  One of those things you are not suppose to miss.  Water at lake is still too high to launch at my ramp.

Got another sinus thing.  Pollen is horrible here.  Coming home, started sprinkling and with each swipe of the windsheild wippers, yellow smear.  The storms should wash a lot of it away.  Taking meds and been asleep since I got home around 6 PM.  I see the same old BS from the Yanks.  Well, back to bed.

Good Morning all from sunny and cool (45°F) Southern Ohio

I have a list of to-do’s a mile long today, ending with the Easter Vigil tonight.  It is a long beautiful service where new members are received, folks are baptized, it is the most impressive service in my opinion.

No time for training, but now that Lent is over I’ve got my eye on a 715 car unloader!

Chief – Try one of those netti pots for your sinus problem.  They work.

JimF – a similar beer on the shoes thing happened to my bride a few months ago.  Smeeled like she had been a heck of a party.

Kurt – Neat looking eggs.

8nTruck – plumbing jobs – ALWAYS more than you anticipate.

May God bless

Jim

Mornin' boys.  Raining & 48 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Will have to wait til later this afternoon to get in my 2-miler (Wifey says I'm lookin' less like a bassett hound and more like a boxer Thumbs Up).  Ladies want to go see new Hanna Montana flic Dead.  Can you say "drop off"?  Will stop by Mom's later on as this is a special day between me & her.  Also, need to get another piece of luggage.

Ole Timer - I've always tried to steer people clear of using real water on their inside layouts.  That being said, nothing a little spare raingutter and silicone couldn't manage.  Just incorporate a drain-hole, or things could get funky.

Brutus - Licking suds off your hushpuppies...how'd that work for ya Confused

Good Morning All

Redeyed gravy and grits? wow how far into the hills is Roseyville anyway?

Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast, now thats a real breakfast.

Brite sun and a beautiful morning, my wife is already working on tomorrows dinner. Oh how she loves to plot and plan. Right now she is working on stuffed peppers to go with the ham. I guess everything else will fall into place.

Have a great day...S.J.

Afternoon all. Replaced the troublesome toilet in the bathroom that was redone - with a version that can allegedly flush a bag of golf balls. We'll see how it handles... Going to Easter Service tonight... Kurt, I'll try to keep 'em coming.  Beautiful day here, but cold. Baseball practice for the youngest in a few hours...

Doug- if you are talking about an American Standard Champion , there is now way you or the kids will clog it. Had one for a year then replaced the other two in the house with the A.S.C. The champion never got a clog even with 20-25 baby wipes my daughter put in it. It even swallowed 3 Fisher Price Little People.

Good Evnin', Ya'll,

Colored Easter eggs last night with the granddaughter.  The beautiful simplicity and excitement of a 5 year old.  Colored eggs aren't enough any more.  You have to then decorate them with Disney Princess stickers.

Told her I was going to put one of the puppy's baby teeth under the dog's pillow so the Easter Bunny would leave him some money.  "Grampy, the Easter Bunny doesn't do that!  The tooth Fairy does!"  Then I asked her what happens if they both showed up at my place at the same time.

That got a very serious look out of her, and she started to worry the Easter Bunny might get delayed or forget her.  So I pulled out a piece of paper and a pen and said we should leave him a note with her address.  Told her to not forget to write her zip code and the color of the house.  She decided to include her phone number in the note just in case.  Then she asked if the Easter Bunny had a GPS system.   Hmmmmmmm.

Yesterday's temperatures hit a high for the year at 66, and it was snowing this afternoon on our ride back from NH.  Nothing but rain for the past 24 hours.  No better tomorrow.  Yuk!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.  SIL's parents are hosting the dinner.  Lamb and roast beef.  I never liked lamb until I had theirs.  Then again, I am Irish and have very simple if not boring tastes, except for beer.  I picked up a ton of sinful pastries at a local bakery, then some wine to bring. Dinner  Where have all the "real" bakeries gone?
