50ish, cloudy and intermittant rain here today.  Work was still there when I went back this morning.

Impressive shots the Seals made.  You kind of wonder about the thugs intellagence, though.  "Here, let us tie your captured/stolen lifeboat with hostage on board to the back of our destroyer so we can tow you to a better spot." AND THEY TOOK THE ROPE!

Of course, there are parts of the world will probably condem the US for that action.  Stuff them.  The line was crossed this time.  The U.S. shows amazing restraint in just about all matters similar to this one.

As a side note, I got to the eidtorial column in the Kansas City Star today right after hearing about the rescue.  One of the items in the editorial was a pro/con piece on gun control.  My first thought was that the Seals had excelent gun control.....

Good Evening all

It has been a busy wonderful weekend.  Services from Thursday to Sunday were all awesome.  My priest gave me a white stole in honor of celebrating my first Holy Week with him.  He is really a great priest and good friend.  I am blessed.

I have a few ex-seals that work for me.  Tough guys, very smart.

Banks – a netti pot is from the drug store like CVS Walgreens or wherever and it is basically a plastic tea pot looking thing where you mix up a warm water and saline solution and pour the solution into your sinus’ to flush them out.  Yes it is disgusting but it really works.

Chief – Prayers for Pam and stepdaughter

May God bless

Jim

HI GYZ,

42 and a bit rainy here,to get to 49?  Took off netting of ponds and did clean up of leaves and twigs yesterday.  Then took rake and cleaned up most of plugs from aereator.  Filled in a few low spots and planted some grass seed.  Then took dog on 4 miler.

DENNIS, thanks for consolation on the deer down there.  I see them everyday right down the road from me when I take dog for walk.  All on posted ground.  When it snows I hit em with snow balls.

Stay frosty,

Good morning all,

Cloudy, foggy, and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  Brutus, I must have had the same thing you did as I spent half of my work day in my other "office".  Not much fun.  Felt better last night.  Good enough to go to the YMCA and do weights.

One of the purposes of sports is those few moments of pure joy that people experience from time to time.  Last night was one of those times.  I was scrimaging with the Brazilian exchange student.  I had the ball and was standing between her and the ball.  I told her there was no way she would get the ball from because I was too big for her to reach around and get it.  Somehow she pokes the ball from my foot, races down the floor and puts the ball in the back of the net.  I am just standing there, staring in disbelief and she is laughing so hard all the way back to her side of the gym.  While the experience came at my expense (or maybe "expanse"), the look of sheer joy on her face compensated for it.

Wife and I watched "Dancing with the Stars".  Some of the performances were really good last night.  I just had streusel this morning on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Within the last week we have lost 3 young men all around 22 years old in our county ! One was the baseball pitcher that made it big and was killed by a drunk driver ... another a young man fell from a roof and was impaled on a lousy picket fence ... and the third was a dear friend of my son's ... who was the son of our senator ... wrecked his motorcycle when a trucker pulled out in front of him  ! My son was supposed to have Easter dinner with him and family ... what a shock ! It just shocks me when these young people lose their lives ... they have'nt even began to enjoy this beautiful world and life .

Morning from a dark, cold and wet Chicago. Pulled off the surprise party last evening, even as the bride inadvertently made things difficult at the very last minute (wanted to go over later, etc.). Ended up with 45 of her friends. Boy, I don't have that many acquaintances...  Now today's my middle boy's 15th birthday - we'll probably celebrate later in the week as I have my class - bought him tickets to a White Sox game in June.

Ole Timer, that is so sad - we just lost a student to a drunk driver.

Mike, I've known some of those wonderful sports moments - it is great you could recognize and relish it.

Morning all!

Raining.  Finally finished the the Financial class!  Good pot-luck last night!  Talked about giving... Tithe, and Offering, as they are different.

Watched the Tigers drop one to the W. Sox on late night TV.  Not sure when it origionally aired.

Brutus:  Prayers for a quick recovery.  Hopefully I'll be consious for tardis tonight!

Doug:  Great news on the Surprise Party!  Funny, I was just online looking at Ticket prices to take 4-yo to a Tiger's game!  I can get tickets waaaaaaayyyy up for $10, but $45 each for box seats?????...Yikes.  Maybe in a few years.  I'll take her to a few of the neighbor's softball games first.

Kurt for a few years now I have been saying that a lot of things sooner or later are going to price themselves out of business. I'm sorry I think our athletes are way over paid. I'm probally going to step on toes here but here goes I can't really see these guys and gals I guess that get paid over $500,000.00 a year . I mean like how can you sensiblily spend that type of money and then feel right that you have some guy trying to break his tail just to make ends meet for his family at $9.00 an hour. And then he would love to take his daughter or sonn to a game and it cost him about 1/2 of his paycheck to do it. something wrong witht his pitcure but you have those that can and do so thats what keeps it going heres the toe stepper like some of these trains now it seems lionel, mth and the rest are going to the point of lets see how high we can charge before they stop buying. I understand this is basicly what keeps this country going but when your producing trains that the engines are $1000.00 and up there just something that doesn't seem right here or lets go another avenue concert tickets that start at $50.00 and up come on there has to a peak here and its finally going to break or at least I would hope it will but probaly not.

Okay enough on my rant

Hi all off today so relaxing as its raining I might try to fix the smoke unit in the 2026 I have finally and get her back together lol. Been apart since I got her basicly and fried the smoke unit because of the short it had. Kinda funny acually  I put it on a test strip with a cheap transformer and it would start to go and then trip transformer. So I thought well lets try the ZW it will get this going well yes and no it went but stop and the smoke stack was a very pretty cherry red well I found the short.

ole timmer that is very sad. any time someones life is cut short is sad I think how many of our young we have lost because of the war. ( just war in common all of them we have been in since the beggining of the great country)

chief prayers still going out to your women of your families both present and you ex as I know you still care for them all.

well all take care and have a good day will talk to you all again later and sorry for my rant it just hits a nerve with me the price of things these days

S.J.

I'll bet you will with all that natural gas.  Shock

Morning.  Had a little shower.  Been cloudy but sun just popped out for a minute.  Farmer worked hard yesterday on field behind the house.  Got it ready to plant tobacco.  Will be over 20 acres.  Got it done before any rain.  Had three big JD's disking it over and over to dry it out.  Then beig JD came in and ridged and treated the whole field.  WhenI was down east to Mom's yesterday, saw several big 4X4 JD's.  Dual tires on the back and big tires on the front.  Pulling big disk.  Trying to dry the land out.  Bet Jon E sees that in Ioway.

Going to ship traveling box car and then mail TAXES.  Want to go to the lakehouse but have to wait until the showers end as got new couch and recliner to take.  That may be Wed. as they call for "spits" and showers until Wed. PM.

BRUTUS, ya need those sick days sometimes ?  Even for a mental health day.

RT and others about our PRO Atheletes.  The thing that really jars my butt, is that our 2 stadiums here and most other places were built with tax payers money.  Talk about kicking a guy when he's down.  OUCH!!!  Our money is funding their egos and padding the owners pockects.  I said this before at Yankee stadium last year a dog and a beer 12 bucks.  I'll never go to another game.  I still love the game but salaries and ticket prices?  Give me a break.

I received an email from CTT today.  Seems they found some more Atlas cars and Athern delivery trucks.  So if anyone is still looking for them now is the time to buy.

Good afternoon everyone!  Has been a relatively good day here.  Some equipment broke down and so one of the cases was cancelled.  Hard to believe a million dollar machine fouls up within a year of install.  Oh well, the guy supposedly has things working again and we will try for the morning.

Old Timer, sorry for such bad news.  More testimony of how short and precious life is.  We are not guaranteed tomorrow, so know where you are going.  Kurt, yeah there is a difference.  One is out of obedience, one is out of love.  Do both.  Only place God tells us to test him.

Well, in one week, I will be getting ready to leave for York!  I had to take off Tuesday also as wife needs to work that day to maintain her position at the hospital.  They are required to work 24 hours in a month's time.  I will try to use the day to catch up on sleep and be prepared for the trip.  Really looking forward to it.

I had purchased both the CTT boxcar and the delivery truck when they first came out.  Not sure I need any more, but we shall see.  Perhaps they can take some extras to York and I am sure they will sell out of them there.

God Bless,

Dennis

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I still have not had the time to post, let alone read the back pages.  Sorry if I missed anything important and didn't respond.  Hope everyone is doing OK.

Easter with the family and friends was quite pleasant this year at my daughter and SIL's place.  I spent a lot of the pre and post meal time talking to goldfish and parakeets, and reading to my granddaughter.  Sometimes a 5 year old is far more entertaining and more adult-like than the adults because the youngsters steer clear of controversial or antagonistic topics of conversation and are actually quite polite.  Found out something important, though.  My granddaughter thinks the Easter Bunny is big and scary. Smile,Wink, & Grin

RT......I gave up on any of the big league venues for the same reason as you.  As much as I admit there is nothing like being there in person, I refuse to burn money.  My SIL started our "renegade" faction, and we now get our "live fix" going to the lower echelon.  A, AA, AAA baseball.  Same with hockey games, plus we are essentially college hockey USA in Boston.  Venues close by include the cities of Lowell, Lawrence, and Lynn MA,  Portland ME., and Pawtuckett RI.  When the fans stop filling the stands and buying the live product, ownership will only revert to yanking the games from the "free" TV tube and force you into then spending half your paycheck on optional cable/satelite TV packages.  At least at home I can be a glutton, choose my own brand of beer, and be steps from the rest room.  Tivo would be a nice addition at home.

Ole Timer......sorry to hear about those way too close to you that left far too soon and far too young.  My SIL's very close friend from high school was found dead this past week in a cemetary a half mile away.  Police not ruling it a suicide, suspicious circumstances.  SIL was shocked and dismayed.

Somali pirates threatening US and French shipping.  What we may learn from this recent standoff could be far from what we desire.  I don't suspect much of a change in the pirates' modus operandi.  We in the U.S of A. look at a life and its value far differently than they do.  That hasn't changed for a millenium nor will it in our lifetime.  Expect more of the same.  On a less serious note, instead of using bullets, rockets, water canons, and barbed wire to discourage boarding, I suggest they try pouring grits on them.  Real grits, of course, not the instant kind.

Chief.....I think your Mom is safe even though YOU prepared and filed her taxes for her.  They don't take 92 year olds in Leavenworth. Big Smile

DougM......saw a commercial on TV the other night and thought of you.  Some guy sees a hot female plumber entering his neighbor's house and gets a bright  idea.  He runs into his house and starts dumping everything he can think of into the toilet, but the toilet simply won't clog.  So he takes a full 40 pound bag of kitty litter and starts pouring it into the toilet, just as his wife walks in on him.  Is that what you have been doing? Whistling

York is upon us.......whatever will we do on the Pot with a significant part of the starting lineup MIA?  I guess the rest of us will have to sit by the phone, waiting for their calls to bail them out of jail.

Jack

Jack thank goodness I never really became a sport fanatic My venue was rock music. But with that I only really went to a few concerts and only paid for one and it was a toys for tots bennifit concert in DC in 79 or 80 don't remember which but know it had to be one of those 2 years as it was the only time I was in that area lol. (stationed in Indian Head, MD. ) any way I'am happy paying $30.00 or less for a Cd/DVD of who I like go home turn put in stereo or computor put head phones on turn lights down low and crank it up to how I want it and more or less invision my self there. I have a very active mind so that works real well for me and very affordable for me so I can go to the same concert many times fold. Headphones By the way I really enjoyed a concert to day in London, England by my favorite group Pink Floyd. only a couple things missing but don't need that to enjoy it Whistling I can listen to pink Floyd all day them and the Doors.

Evening all on a positive note got my smoke unit partially back together as keep hearing in my mind chief saying stuff pink insulation in there so have to goto the attic to get some but right now can't get the ladder ( in storage room out and around the back of house and its raining and thunder and lightening) and do I mean raining its like chief says cow peeing on a flat rock here. ( off and on)

Just need to know how much insulation do I need to put in there?

not much else happening

Brutus it was your niece that got you I see hope you start feeling better as made chocolate cake today and with scratch vanilla icing not the crap out of the can.Dinner

Take it easy will check in a little later

Hey Brutus guess it a good thing you gave the keys to patrick last night for the tarus

the only problem with that is it always smells like cow patties when he comes to pick us up I think he uses it to put fertilizer out in the field durning the day wheen he has it. As he can keep going back in time and gets a whole weeks worth of work done in just one day.

Afternoon All !

Still pretty pooped from all the Easter Festivities, but well worth it. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Started out in a really nice and cheerful frame of mind, even after finishing up taxes and accepting of having to pay both state and fed (as usual). But after hearing of the latest BS report out of DHS regarding rightwingers and returning vets I got really cranky and was using quite a bit of blue language, good thing we are emptynesters. Angry Grumpy

I just ordered a couple of the Athearn CTT trucks, might make a good flat load, thought about the woodside but they come-up on E-Bay several times a year for about half of the sale price. Was going to bid on one yesterday but old-timers must have gotten me, I forgot.Blush

 Hello All:

Had to log out and back in to post this - don't know what that was all about. I haven't posted in two days. Busy doing taxes, but now they are done.

Jon - I agree totally. I have many recipe books on BBQ and Grilling and the best recipes are tried and true family or friends recipes ( like that great baked bean one Thumbs Up)

Jack - Good post. Poring grits on pirates, 92 year olds in Leavenworth, bailing Pot folks out of jail at York. Laugh

RT - I am wandering if I gave the keys to the Tartus back to Brutus. If I didn't I'll be picking everyone up.Confused

Evening all!

Still raining.  Tiger game called off.  I don't understand the sports ticket prices either...They don't have to pay for the building, and they make $$$ on the advertising, seats, and food.  Another act of retail piracy is going to the movies.  We ended up dropping $50, taking the family to the movies.  2-slices of pizza, large popcorn, bag of pretzels, pop & 4-tickets.  Nathan's hot dogs are $4 each.

Dennis:  I agree!  We have been blessed to be able to give a usual tithe to our Church, a regular offering to other worthwhile charities, and then some.

Ole Timer:  Sent you an e-mail thru CTT e-mail re: modelling, and weathering.

Jack:  I'm not offended.  I do miss the readers digest version of the pot.  Now what will I read in the lue?

Patrick/Brutus:  Beacon is on!  I'm in for tonight!

Getting ready for class tonight. Still cold and grey - got the middle boy his birthday gift - 2 tickets to White Sox day game - lower level seats, and a parking pass. $115 with taxes, handling fees and other phooey. Wow. And that's without $6 hotdogs and $10 beers. Oh well. Didn't go last year and probably won't next.

Doug......adopt me.  I come with my own car, auto insurance, and clothes.  I mow lawns, and you don't have to send me to college and pay for it.  Plus I've had all my shots and am house broken.
