Good Evening

Sunny and 50s today, looks like the same for tomorrow.

I managed to stay out of the way so it looks like lots to eat tomorrow afternoon. Set up some trains with TMCC so  I can run them and chat too. I have two handhelds so someone else can run at the same time. Usually works good that way.

Banilla is waiting for the Tardis so Brutus lite the fuse..S.J.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s.  Lucas and I mowed the yard.  I went to the YMCA to do weights and soccer juggling.  Finished the housework for Sunday.  Sister called and said she was sick so her family won't be coming, but we still have some people there.  I ran the 384E with NO pileups.  Sometimes when I run trains, I get a little philosophical.  I was sitting there calculating how much I spent on trains.  It is a figure that takes my breath away and that was just standard gauge.  Granted I made some of it back with the articles over the years, but sometimes I wonder....   On the other hand, (and there is always the other hand) it is very relaxing and I have shared the hobby with many at the historical society.  End of soapbox.

I had streusel on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  Beacon is lit.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all.  MIL's meal was great as usual.  Watching Halmark Channel and one of their love movies [newest].  Reading the Lionel book on their engines and cars for Post War.

Chief, sounds like you have been eating too well.  Now what do you think your internist will think when she hears of your dietary habits?  She'll tell you no more family meals and stay away from those free political dinners!

Had a great day.  Slept late.....till 6am!   Then, wife made home made waffles.  I ran the tractor over the yard to clear way for the Easter egg hunt.  It was a lot of fun as the kids are at the right age for that kind of entertainment.  Then, did some wiring on some switches for the layout.  These were to power the yard sidings.

Tonight, we went to the new guy's house for dinner.  Real nice folks and always interesting to talk with.  The South African accents are neat to listen to.  He did request some information on a train set that he has from his youth.  Had given it to a friend many years ago.  Friend no longer wanted it, so now he has most of it back, but needs some things.  I'll make it a separate post.

Well, gotta run as I have an early morning of it.  I will be working lights for the Easter service.  May bring a camera to get a shot of Miss America.  After services, we need to head north to visit bride's father's house.  All the driving will certainly tire me out.
God Bless,
Dennis

Sang John Stainer's "Cross of Jesus, Cross of Sorrows" as a solo at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine on Good Friday. Came home, took a nap, did some yard work, Madge and I spent THREE hours in the spa and had Pizzas and wine for supper. Won't bore you with the details of what else I had to drink but did get to bed at 3:00 AM this morning. Today was a total waste. Madge sings at St. John's Cathedral at 6:00 and 9:30 AM on Easter Sunday. I sing at Memorial at 8:30 and 11:00. Diner when I get home and lots of recliner time after that. I keep thinking about starting in to clear off level two in the train room and that MAY happen in the next month or two. Don't even ask about level one!! Three more weeks of classes for Spring term and then Summer starts the next week if my classes get enough enrollment. Fly to Chicago and Amtrak to Kalamazoo for Grand Niece's HS graduation at the end of May. Home  via Amtrak in time for second summer class to start. A blessed Easter to all and a meanigful Passover experience for our Jewish bretheren.

Howdy from St. Louis, where it was pretty warm today and finally no rain!  Picked up paint, roller covers, cheap brush, small pocket planer, some other odds and ends and few more sheets of drywall today - one of which was apparently damaged by a prior shopper and we did not notice - note to self, always flip over and face the drywall from now on just be be sure.  Oh well, most of it is still good and it will serve a purpose too.  Keep messing around perfecting that one corner in the stupid closet - I think I'm obsessing on it!  Oh well, not any more - one little spot to check tomorrow and then paint it Monday.  Cleared away some more scraps and bagged them for the next trash pickup.  Finished the bottom half of the window wall I was working on, including cutting out for 4 outlet boxes - yikes!  I would have finished the wall, but we thought we were going over to some friends' house tonight, which didn't materialize.  When we hadn't heard from them until after 7, we gave up and went out for Chinese food Thumbs Up

Had a nice chat with Sir James and Charlie tonight.  The TARDIS is ready and I've got a few adult beverages left, along with the usual soda's and juice.  I think that Sir James has banilla and the scope shows more than a few lights from Doug, Mike, Patrick, 8nt, Rich, Dennis, Don, Patrick, John Baker, RT, and a few others too!

Happy Easter to those of you in the later timezone!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hippity-Hoppity boys.  When I peep outside, I see that it's clear and 36, and the Son has 'risen, over the Mid-Atlantic region.  Littlest princess scored 2 pink rabbits this AM, as well as 10 "beans" from Grandma.  Not a bad take.

Chief - Wifey watched that same sappy Hallmark movie.  I went down to the mancave and watched reruns of Deadliest Catch.

Morning all. Happy Easter! Looks like a beautiful day here - went to services last evening, then out for buffalo wings and burgers with the family. Up early with the youngest who found a chocolate bunny in a basket to keep him quiet so the rest can sleep. May just pull off the bride's surprise party tomorrow night - have 40 coming...

Can you believe date #2 dumped the princess for the prom late last night? Today I intervene.

Jason, that was indeed an Amer. Stand. Champion. Nice to hear it works as advertised.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

Happy Easter to All...

Today is cool and sunny. Going up to 60 with no rain.

I will be taking it easy today. Ball game this afternoon. I sure hope that the Indians win one soon. I may never see cupcakes again. Wife is sending e-mails to the G.M. of the Indians.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast. Then, it departed for all "Points West". Had to wake up Buckeye.

Y'all have a great Easter Sunday.

Happy Easter,

The sun shines bright on Buckeyeland this morning.  For the first time in their eight year tenure, our NHL Columbus Blue Jackets are playing in the Stanley Cup Finals.  An outpouring of joy has besieged the city and the countryside.

Still have cough and still voice is weak, but feeling better.  I'll get there one of these days.

Morning.  Sunny and a little breeze.  Cool as Yanks want to share their unhappiness.  Great Early Church and Sunday School.  As the Bill Gather song goes, "Life is worth the living just because he lives."  Think I will take the cane pole and chair, go to the pond and sit on the bank and say, "Thank you."

Wifey has two Dr's apt tomorrow.  One with regular Dr. [lady, same as mine].  Concerned about her liver function.  One after that, thyroid is not working right.  This is all of a sudden.  Need your prayers.  Also, oldest ex-stepdaughter [ex-wife's daughter I rasied from 8 years old to grown] has been told she has lung cancer.  This is a sudden thing too.  She hasn't smoked in over 10 years.

Hope all have a great Easter and a safe and great week.

Later.

BTW: glad Buckeye is feeling better.    can't believe I said that.

 Good morning all:

Bright sunshine here like most are having.

Jon - The baked beans are on the grill. Smells great! Taste great cold (had to try them). I'll let you know the crowds reaction.Chef

Chief - Are you being tested? You seem to have more than your share of bad luck. We are thinking of you.

Brutus said "and the scope shows more than a few lights from Doug, Mike, Patrick, 8nt, Rich, Dennis, Don, Patrick, John Baker, RT, and a few others too!" I see you noticed I have two lights lit. Don't want to be missed!  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Truly a great day here in the Heartlands, early church today (lots of CEO's today=Christmas,Easter,Only)  but still a fine service.  Kinda quiet around here for the first time ever on Easter Sunday--both son's are with their wives/girl friends families today but that's not put a damper on this special day.

Have a great day--and I'm anxious to hear how the bean recipes turned out, homemade ham ball recipe for us this noon.

HE IS RISEN!  Happy Easter to all of you.

Chief, prayers for your wife and ex step daughter.  My youngest sister was diagnosed with lung cancer this year also.  Had surgery to remove part of lung and now is doing well.  In fact she is back to work.  They think they got all the cancer and no chemo was required.  Hope your kin will do as well.  I pray that she will.

Off to church now and dinner this afternoon with family.  Have a blessed day all,

Happy Easter!

Doug:  Shock  Sorry to hear about Prom.

Jim:  We call 'em See'n E.

Children's sevices went well!  We (the 1st - 4th graders) were relegated to a tent outside Curch, to allow overflow space in the gym, our usual service area.  With the heater going it was quite comfortable, although 40-degrees outside.  Had someone inside the gym complain that we were too loud outside...Whistling   Those kids sang louder that ever today!

Preparing to go to friends for Easter dinner.  Getting ready to get home made sausage, and redskin potatoes in oven.  Gave one sausage to neighbor lady.

Happy Easter, all.

Our church held Easter service in one of the exibition building on the Mo. State Fairgrounds.  Attendance looked to be about 2000.  Sonic Flood concert there later tonight.

Chief - prayers for your family.  Cancer took my oldest sister a few years back.  My next oldest sister is currently in remission.  There is some hope.

Kpolak - 'make a joyful noise unto the Lord'.  Isn't it amazing how some people are upset when kids do exactly that?

Chief sorry missed your post earlier. Sorry to hear of the health problems thru your family prayers are out for all of you in these times of concern. I pray for the best news for you and your family.

chief I quit smoking 5 years ago and I'm always concerned that I still could get cancer as you never get rid of all of it. ( as I'v been told by health profesionals I ask dennis to add in on this a little)

Just got done a great Easter dinner, Ham, scalloped Potatoes, Apple Sauce, Green Beans, and we have fudge ripple ice cream when were ready for desert. (note to self put pad lock on freezer to keep Brutus and gang out of it. ) (2nd note to self leave a cone of it in frig freezer for Patrick )

Not much else going on today worked from 7 to 2:30 today then home to supervise the wifes cooking of dinner and to do my chore of carving Ham with electric knife.

Open letter to Jon:

We had 14 adults at our place for Easter.

Your Baked Beans were a real hit with out family.Thumbs Up We had the usual pot luck things, ham biscuits, potato salad, deviled eggs, etc. and this time your baked beans. We usually have some of everything left over, but not your baked beans!! They were the only thing that was completely gone (except for the small dish Laura set aside earlier for us to have later)Approve.

I think they could be even better (maybe, maybe not) when I get a true smoker, and don't have to use my regular grill as a smoker.

When are you planning to publish a cook book? And what is this about a homemade ham ball recipe? Dinner

To round out a perfect day, all had a chance to run trains!
