Jack (RockIsland52),
Congrats on 500 posts! No limit for Northerners! As far as the aches and pains, they are still there. There are moments that make it worthwhile, especially when I can still show the kids a move or two (old age and treachery). For example, I "nutmegged" one of the kids (that is when you pass the ball between the legs of a defender), and I made some left-footed shots practicing against the keeper. Those incidents do not happen too often, but just enough to make them realize maybe the old man is not quite as dumb as he looks :-)
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good morning team - been real busy here. Took son to Austin (UT Campus) Sun for a soccer camp. He returns on Thursday. Been real hot here - 100 last couple of days, but cooler today. Only 95!
Taking daughter to a local (well about an hour away) college campus for a tour. It seems it was only yesterday that I could hold her in the crook of my arm.
Sir James -

Say it ain't so - you can sneak a couple into the luggage?
EDIT - John F nice pics in your basement empire - I notice that you giz didn't let Buckeye hald the TMCC or DCS controllers - good move on your part - he tends to stress test all the bridges on the layout.
Have a great day all!

Mornin All.
Sir J,
Fife, Say it ain't so, trains on the roof rack, trains go inside suitcases with clothing go on roofrack. After all they can be washed, trains can't. But on the other hand SWMBO has to be kept happy otherwise they can make for a LONG drive home.

Happy Birthday Sir James! I liked those GT flat cars with the Semi trailers so much I bought another one with a Lionel Trailer!
May need to catch Brutus on this trip for Banilla and Cake!

I'm Back !
First an update on the Big Boy, shipped it back to Lionel a week ago last Friday. Fed Ex picked it up at our office. Checked on the status the following Monday, it showed leaving here and arriving at the local hub on Friday, BUT never leaving the hub. Wednesday called Fed Ex, and they said it was indeed on the way. Then all the storms go through the midwest, Now MY engine is of no consequence in consideration to what all those people are going through. But, I noticed on another forum that people were complaining cause they couldn't get any response from Lionel service. Found out they were without power for a week! Ok, so I checked Fed Ex this past Monday and it shows delivered. Called Lionel this morning, and they are trying to sort out all the stuff they received and have not been able to "log in" yet. So hopefully they have it, will check next week.
Anyway, I wanted to get the Figure 8 portion of the layout operational. But there is 2 access points that the curves go through and of course there is a 4 foot drop. So, need a curved barrier. As shown below.
As shown the clearance requirement for the Big Boy is critical.
Also, need to get the begining mounted so it wouldn't jut out past the layout, could be a real "stabber" so securing the end ON the table.
Will need to do some painting, and scenicing
So that's what its for, I can adjust it if required. Also, both bridges are secured in position using some wing nuts on the bottom. The track has some knife connectors so the whole thing can be lifted right out. The red bridge is hinged so it lifts up to allow entry.
Don
Don,
Love the carpet! My son would too.
Are there any train museums or stores in the Florida keys?

Brutus Buckeye candies are good, buckeye nuts poison
Basicly they are peanutbutter and powdered sugar dipped in chocolate/ wax(eddable kind), I sent Chief instructions on how to make them If he does not have it still will look up recipe. Home made are the best and so is homemade potato candy.
Crazy, Crazy day here in California. Weddings going on all over the place, its nuts! People coming in from Arizona just to get married, this should be in Vegas not here.
Got so bad I heard whistles and bells in the train room, seems the NY Switcher and Cab Forward were trying to get together. I now have them on different tracks, away from the round house. And no caboose in the area.
Don, Be glad when november gets here !
Didn't pigout to much at the fair, did notice that if I am not mistaken the food prices have gone up considerably over last year. A little disappointed, there was supposed to be a place selling "Deepfried Whitecastles" but we never found the place. We were talking to some other folks who tried them and said they were good, but this was after we had left unfortunately. Oh well, just a little less of the bad cholesterol.
Can't think of much else, to pooped.
Was a crazy day with long cases. Glad it is over. Have some things to take care of and then it is an early night. Hope everyone has a wonderful night.
God Bless,
Dennis

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR JAMES!!!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Nothing going on here, just waiting until I think that dinner time is over up Nawth. Kurt, Do you have any candles? I have about 50 of them I scrounged up, but still need a "couple" more! I heard that Sir James was going to eat out tonight, hope it's yummy! So, I'll get the TARDIS warmed up, add the extra buckeye stabilization circuit, and pick up all the likely and regulars - on the way.
Don - great pics of the layout, really came out nice!
Jack - no worries here, the Arch will be under water before my feet get wet. OTOH, if the city goes under, I might get a couple days off? I'll believe it when I see it, though. In 1993, we did not close and that was our biggest flood I think.
Brutus: Count me in! I only have about 30 candles....and a halon extinguisher. We'll need more...Didn't Buckeye have a recent day of birth? Maybe he has some...or maybe they all burned to nubs while the the Chuck E. Cheese hostess was getting them lit.
Brutus - Are you going to be picking up more government officials for touring the flood areas? They are a nuscience, as always the porch light is on, will be ready and waiting. Think I'm going to bring some JD along with me tonight, its been a weird day.
hic
I did get down to the train room last night and was messing around with the ROSS 4-way switch I got from GregM on the other forum... it isn't going to work... so now it is back to square one and trying to find another switch to use...
Brent.
Sorry to read that the switch isn't going to work for you.
Kurt - I called Sir James and he is having a great party with his family, so just wished him a good day. You are correct, we need to get really long candles! That way, when we get the last ones lit, the first ones aren't all melted down! Halon extinguisher is a good idea too!
Don, there is only room on the TARDIS for 2 or 3 Gov't workers -- that would be me, RT, and Chief. Course, I'm not sure that Chief qualifies as a worker, since he's a Chief I zeroed in your porch light. I'll bring some Sam Adams, Old Mill, and Root Beer (Barqs and Mug). Maybe some Doc Robinsons if John Baker from UK is coming?

Buckeye, your ears must still be blocked from your trip, I was STOPPING the wedding. It is such a frenzy going on guys are asking guys, and girls asking girls. Go Figure. Certainly not a popular opinion to have.

Morning to All,
Made a fresh pot. Stopped by to check things out. Not much tome to post lately. Hard to keep up. We have furniture running out of our ears and much of it needs to be unboxed and assembled. We have a troop of Boy Scouts coming today to help. Slowly but surely we are getting there.
When I get some time I have a video montage of the school that I created with the help of iPhoto that I will post on YouTube.
Family was up over the weekend for Father's Day Dinner. Ran some trains for my nephew, he loved the whistles and diesel horns.
Hope everyone had great celebrations and/or anniversaries. The Mrs. and I celebrated 29 years on Monday. Had a nice dinner out.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 55 degrees. Going up to 74 today, with cloudy skies.
Today is a busy day. I have to drive to Cambridge for the weekly grocery shopping. Gas is at $3.89 there. Here, it is at $4.05 yet. Needless to say, I fill up in Cambridge. I don't see any relief in sight, on high prices.
No time for trains today. I'm thinking about redoing a section of the layout. I need some variety on the trackplan.
Dining car is here and breakfast is served. Later.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. I practiced with "my" soccer girls last night. All we did was drills and no scrimmages, which is ok by me as I have two games on back-to-back nights this week. Wife watched the special on the 10 best films in 10 different categories while I eBayed and did some Second Life. The dog made a good rabbit yesterday (i.e. a dead one) and Lucas buried it for us. A belated Happy Birthday and Anniversary to all those celebrating yesterday. One of the grandsons will be spending the night with us after the game while his parents paint his room. Should be an interesting evening.
The "saucy wench" was up early this morning and fixed me biscuits and bacon for breakfast in the dining car as it arrived from "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
