This thread was created in Savannah GA on April 1 while I was working a Bass Pro Shops event that weekend.  The suggestion of a continous thread was made by Big Boy [Elliot Feinberg].  So, here it is 4 years later.  Main posters for the CTT forum then were Buckeye, Tom Pescha [Spankybird], Big Boy and myself.  Since then lots of folks [ladies and gents] have joined us.  Some left [a few we were glad they left, others we're sad] and lots are still around.  All in friendship.  I lift my cup to all and God bless all.   4 and going strong. Big Smile [:D]

Chief...Hasn't the Coffee Pot now been running for four years?

Good morning from Beautiful Ohio where I just returned from my colonoscopy.  They told me my tonsils looked good. Confused [%-)]

Bob...Your photo took me completely by surprise.  I always assumed that your offices were in an old delapated wharehouse building down by the docks or tracks.    BTW, where is the Garden RR outside your window?

We're in an office park - the view out my window is a senior living community that was built after KPC was constructed in '89. The idea is to stay long enough to moving in over there and walk to work ...

Let it snow in Snohio - none for me, thanks!  Snowing in Chicago too?  St. Louis gets weather patterns off the river from down around Mr. Wimberly I guess?  Kurt, I'll take one of those brownies if any are left!

Good afternoon all,

It is currently partly cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s.  I had to take the minivan to the shop this morning to have some work done.  Hopefully it will get finished today.  I watched "Deal or No Deal", "Lost" and "Eli Stone" last night as I had today off.  I also did weights at the YMCA.  Really starting to notice a difference.  Bob, I have seen the view from your set of offices up there.  It is a nice area of town and real close to the Interstate.  It seems like you have really been socked with snow this year.

I had the usual fare for breakfast this morning, just a little later than normal.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.

Good plan similar to mine.  Our office park is next to the cemetery with the undertaker across the street.

BTW, enjoyed the article about Legacy.  It is a matter of time until the Baltimore, Ohio and Wasbash Railroad - The Only Passenger Rail Service in Central Ohio, operations vice president authorizes the purchase.  Smile [:)]

Afternoon All !

Finally, getting back around.  Been down for the past week with some silly virus or something.  Sure, knocked the wind out of my sails!!

Lots of stuff gone down in one week, new pot, unfortunately  lots of bad weather, mostly good individual reports though.  (Hope John's Dr. visits go well this next week.)   Not to sure about Buckeye and Fife though,  Buckeye looking for a job next to a cemetary, and Fife still having Tiddy Whitey issues  ?!?!?!?

Been following wifes instructions, stay home from work, rest, drink plenty of  fluids, and IF I feel up to it try to do some "Train Therapy"  so off to the train room.   Sleepy [|)]

Was "cold" in the house this morning, 66. Left the AC set at 72 last night and the temperature dropped into the low 50's or high 40's. The spa sure was nice after Maundy Thursday service though. Went to noon Good Friday service today, came home and mowed the weeds in the front yard, ran the edgers along about 1/3 of the driveway. Decided to quit and have a cold brewski-yum yum!!!

May try to get NYC GP-7 fired up tonight and see what LEGACY really can do. Have a letter typed and ready to send to Jerry Calabrese (Lionel Pres & CEO) fussing about the dummy GP-7. If you haven't bought any of the new GP-7's and are thinking of buying the pair, read the description of the dummy unit VERY CAREFULLY!

Have a blessed Easter or Passover.

Good afternoon everyone,

A very boring day here so far. I'm having people over to watch some of the games tonight.

Mel, I see what is wrong.

Brent, there are no electrocouplers on it, but every other dummy unit has electrocouplers. That is very weird.

Hey guys.  Been a while since I last posted any updates on the layout...cant even remember my last post in here.  Weather has been pretty good in NJ lately.  No snow here.  Havent had much time lately to work on the trains but all has been well.  Got back to working again; this time for the water dept.  Also excited the buckeyes got that QB Pryor from pennsylvania.

Hope everyone has a good holiday!

Thanks for the snow, Bob. Probably 6 inches here with more overnight - happy spring indeed - Mel, it was cold in our house this morn too - because it was 28 outside. Sigh. I did my boy scout good deed and cleared off the neighbor's driveway. Off to church tonight - they have a neat service with lots of different rooms and different reflective experiences in each one.

The van saga continues: instead of coolant leaking through an easily replacable gasket, its also leaking through a pitted 'container' that is astronomically expensive just by itself - Big Boy expensive. So they're going to see if they could machine up a cover that would be much cheaper. Good thing the daughter is gone because I wont see this vehicle until the middle of next week. Must. Run. Trains.

Brent;

In regards the new GP-7's. The non-powered units really are dummies in every sense of the word. No lights, no smoke unit, no electro couplers, and all this paired with a locomotive that has everything!!! LEGACY won't do a thing with them. Still plannning to get the LEGACY unit on the track tonight. Report later.

Finally got into the train room and started to work with the new Lionel GP-7. Some LEGACY things I learned:

1) If you are going to change the ID #, do it before you load the memory module. Otherwise, you have to repeat the process.

2) Track power should not be on while you are loading the module.

3) If you decide to change the number after already loading the module and you have run the locomotive for a while, watch out for hot smoke oil coming out if you have to turn the engine upside down to get to the PRGM switch.(As in Duh!!!)

4) The LEGACY control with a LEGACY engine is incredibly smooth. The horn is fun to play with and it is fun to listen to the brakes squeal if you turn the speed dial all the way to zero and kick in the locomotive brake.

5) The ability to change smoke levels at the press of a key is a nice feature.

More later if I pick up any other bright ideas or learn anything else of interest.

Hey guys!  Sorry to hear your bad news continues, Doug....  Took wife out to eat, big steak dinner, but our daughter got carsick so we couldn't go to a movie with our friends.  Hi, John W!  RRC/Mel, thanks for the updates - I'm thinking about that Legacy, maybe for my next birthday?

Train station kit showed up - it's even a little bigger than I expected.  Will have to pick up some epoxy tomorrow after I work in the morning, but hope to get some work done on it tomorrow.

Doug, we've got cookie-cake.  Maybe grab Kurt and Sir James and some banilla and head over here?  Use your snow shoes!  Also, wear a life vest - flooding all around us, but we are high and dry here!

Evening All

Well the Chewy curse got us again. the snow headed right at us and started about five hours ago. Looks like Cleveland and some of Pa. will get it too. Oh well I had no going away plans for tomorrow anyway. Had a nice lunch after the church service today, they had sloppy joes, different kinds from different households, salads, you know the leafy kind plus the tater, noodle, etc. Pastor and wife sat with us and I invited him and his son over to see the trains. But I have done that before and so far,a no show. I guess I'll look around and stop back before bed..........later,,,,S.J.
