dbaker - Did you buy these K-line engines brand new?  Actually, if they run together end-to-end (bookend style) I'd leave them alone...that's usually how the 1:1 scale trains run...

Don,

You left out a couple of terms,  hach, hack, spiiiitttttt, Censored [censored] !!!! The crud that we had have just doesn't want to quit.

Concerning the Cotton Belts, the one starting in reverse was probably the trailing unit in a lash-up.

Good Afternoon Gentlemen:

I hope everyone had a great easter.  I finally had a chance to see the Sunday photo fun and was knocked out by Ray's video and by Jon's video.  I liked Ray's use of the old Jimmie Rodgers tune, Hobo Bill as his soundtrack.  Great stuff guys, thanks for sharing.

Buckeye: I love your bridges.  One would think that you build these for a living.  My only comment is that they look like they belong in Urbana, Illinois along with all of the other orange and blue in U of I land. Wink [;)]

Everyone have a great afternoon.

Regards,

John

Brent....If you are going to build this, it is called a Steel Deck Girder Bridge.

http://structsource.com/railroadbridge/types/steeldeck.htm

Notice the newer concrete on top of the piers in the photo.  I would assume that the railroad built the first bridge too low and it was swept away or damaged in a flood.  They then raised the track and the bridge and lived happily ever after.

John......I guess you have never seen a photo of my other bridges in orange and blue.  BTW, the engine on the bridge is the PE.

Don.....Glad to see that you are giving up grits. Big Smile [:D]

Good luck RT!  Hang in there, I think you will be just fine!  Did they have you do a treadmill test?  They had me do that - this is nearly 20 years ago, though.  Day 2 of training - 38 days left!  Been bad, standing up too much.  Somehow, when I'm teaching, I feel like I need to get up and move around a lot.  Good CTT issue - nice to see you guys getting pics and stuff published!

Boys, we've got some left over candy...?  Kurt, sorry I missed you this morning, maybe catch a ride tonight?

Evening all

RT-I hope your physical shows you being heathy as can be.

Those with or recovering from the crud- My bride worksin PEDs at the local hospital and they often have as many adults as kids and the consensus is this crud hangs on and on.

I may try to read the latest CTT, I've just skimmed so far.  Just finished supper, leftover ham and sweet potato cassarole, but no complaints!  Love the stuff.  Going to go and chill for a bit.

May God bless

Hey Sir James, did you get rid of the oil paint smell from the caulk?  Sorry, was watching to see if you would post, but almost missed it....  Chewy said good night too!  She is very pretty right now, got a spa treatment yesterday and 2 shampoos.  The first sham-poo somehow got ruined with some of the real stuff?  So they had to redo the doo!  Laugh [(-D]

Evening all!

Just back from son's soccer game. They have yet to win a game this year and last ear they were second place team. Go figure?

Spent lunch time messing with pool pump. Got the impeller off but cannot figure out how to remove the ceramic seal. Haven't found any help on the web either for the style of pump I have. May have to take it to pool store and pay them to remove it - ugh.

RT - keeping my fingers crossed for you on the next steps for that VA job! Good luck!

Don B - glad you are getting better, albeit slowly.

Have a great evening all!

Bed time.  What do you do when your back itches where you can't reach?  Me, I rub it on the door frame.  Driving me wild right now.  My lady dermatologist laughed when I told her that.  She said others had told her about scratching their backs with the door frome.  Then she said I thought that was funny until I tried it.  Feels good.  More back scratching and then bed.  Sleep tight.  God bless.

Evening all,

Can't sleep tonight. I have no idea why. Well, it'll be a short week here, as I had yesterday off, and I have Friday off as well. I'm headed to York late Thursday night for the East Coast Large Scale Train Show. Maybe John F. will be there?

I finished extra credit a few hours ago. I painted a ceiling tile for my English class, and I painted a scene from "The Death of King Arthur," in which a hand reaches out of the lake to grab the sword.

Anyway, I'm drifting off now. Prayers to anyone that needs them, happy belated Bday Brent, good luck to RT, and have a good day tomorrow everyone.

Oh, Chief I do the same thing to scratch my back.

Chief, You had best be cautious with all those free meals. Keep that up to long and you'll have to upgrade to the "Big Seats" on all your travels. Not to mention those carpet baggers might try to influence your decisions. Laugh [(-D]

Had a good evening, tonight.  Went out to the train room, and just looked around abit, too late to really start any project. So thought I would do some maintanence on some stuff sitting on the shelf.  Pulled down a old #58 Inspection Car.   Cleaned it, greased it, oiled it, then ran it.  First time in at least 18 to 20 years.  Boy did it like that!!  It just ran perfectly! Quick and quiet, and very fast.  That was so good, decided to do another, pulled down the old #50 Fire Car.  Did the same thing, got to get some new sponge material, the sponge old was totally disentigrated.  So then pulled down a MPC era Virginian FM, and a C&O 8463.  They really responded well also.  Just amazing how sluggish and noisey all of them were, and how easy it was to get them running really well.  Life is Good!

Pulled down a lot of documentation on Operating Model railroads, wow is there ever a lot to learn with that.  Going to see if I can find a local club that runs operations, probably have some luck with HO or N scale.  Then trying to set up a brainstorming session for tomorrow night and see what happens.

(Need to go check my emails, what did I send??  Hmmm Confused [%-)]

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Morning to all.  Made a fresh pot this AM.  For some reason I could not sleep, so I was up at 3:30.  Lots on my mind.

Found out yesterday that the medications did not really help our litttle dog Katie.  She has a really enlarged spot on her bottom.  Thought it was an infected perianal gland. Vet now seems to think because it did not respond to antibiotics, it is a tumor, and with where it is located they really cannot do surgery because of her age and a heart murmur. So we will have to keep praying and hope that we will know when the time is right.  For now she seems to be doing OK, eating fine, playful, etc. Doc said that if it is cancer it will spread and at some point she will really have to strain to move her bowels and then it will be time.  We are just heartsick.

On the school front we are making more progress.  17 classroom teachers have been hired along with Gudiance Counselor, Art, Music, PE, and Health teachers.  We will need to hire about 5 or 6 more classroom teachers, plus special education, speech pathologists, custodians, cafeteria workers, and secretaries.  Building is really nearing completion maybe another month and they'll be done all of the major work.  Hope to post some more pics today.

Can't wait for York.  I need a few days of Train Therapy to get me ready for the long summer haul.

Have a great day.

Mitch

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a mild 47 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 57 today, with clouds.

Today is the weekly grocery shopping day. Loads of fun. Gas is stuck at about $3.39 a gallon. Nobody cares about doing anything about it.

No time for trains today. I need some train running time. Also, need to work on that scenery. Slow but sure.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Then it will be off to the run to " points west ".

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Mornin' Fellas.

Buckeye - not quite. The bridge I'm building just has the steel girder underneath and the ties and track sitting on the deck. No railings or anything else. I saw one recently so I'll have to try and remember where so I can take a pic.

RT - Good luck, that is one more process down and it seems to be working out.

Greg - How's the hunt coming for you?

Don - Glad to see you've recovered... first day feeling better and you're already up and fixing trains! Thumbs Up [tup]

Colin - Thanks for the belated.

Did some more mock up of the second level last night. Tonight I'll get the plywood cut and installed for the underlayment and maybe get the ceiling tile installed. Need to check the height at a couple spots and then I think I'll need some more plywood to get much further, good thing Susieq's cousin gave me a gift card to Lowes!

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s, but rain on the way tonight.  Roy, soccer is an odd sport.  Some years you can be fantastic and other years with basically the same group you cannot buy a win.  You have to enjoy the good times and hope the bad times do not last long (which I guess could be said about life in general, but that is getting way thoughtful way too early in the morning).  Went to the YMCA and jogged for an entire mile without taking one or two laps at a walking pace.  Basically hit the limit on what the legs can tolerate.  The rest of the 30 minutes was spent walking at a very slow pace.  Ouch!  Now I just have to build up my running time.  No TV for the second night in a row and probably none tonight either.  Balanced the checkbook and reviewed some of Lucas' scholarship applications.

I see where the IRL will have its first "blendified" event this Saturday night at Homestead.  26 cars are entered.  It will be interesting to see how quickly the former champ car teams get up to speed.

When I got to the parking lot this morning, there was a whole string of brand new bathtub hoppers looking like they were being delivered from the factory.  I mean we are talking shiny gleaming sides and consecutive numbers.  Wow!  I had streusel again for breakfast on the dining car from "Points East", and I plan on meeting my daughter for lunch today downtown.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Up to 73F today, a leeetle breezy.  The daughter is better, and now we have spring break for her.  Shipping her up to New Jersey for the week.  As Elmer Fudd would say,"West an wewaxsation at wast."

TMCC Update: Nope, nothing done on that front.  Work is killin' me....Thanks for askin, Chief.  I hope to get something done on that during lunch time this afternoon.

Mike, now you have 1,001 reasons to post summore!!

Mike....New aluminium hoppers are made somewhere in the Carolinas.  They are then shipped north and west to haul coal.  I have seen the same type of hoppers with consecutive numbers on the NS mainline south of Columbus.

A little under the weather today.

GOOD MORNING

Brutus its like oil base paint smell but won't go away. I've had a headache since last friday. The bathroom window has been open during the day since the window was installed and it still stinks in there(from the caulk).

Chuck #3 gas prices for us retired folks is just keeping us home except for must do. I still don't think I will be using the boat if gas goes to $4.00 like they say. and what they say is usually what they have already decided. I got to think that travel related business's will be hurting also. Of course most working folks can still afford to travel but us old ones will be staying home.

We have sun this morning going to near 50,maybe. Enjoy,,,S.J.
