Since Texicans live on a slab, you would not understand. Plastic [now required in building code] under crawl space is a mositure control device. Prevents sweating due to the mositure in the ground under the house. This house is on sloping lot. The lot drains away from the house but still have moisture.
Off to work. Very warm but winds are to hit around noon and temps drop to the 20's. We are going from above average temps to below average temps. Been on rollercoaster all this fall/winter.

Been awhile since I posted, I have had to time to check things out, but just couldn't come up with a lot of worthy suff. Sorry, about depriving everyone!
Hope all the bad news is over for awhile! Prayers and thoughts for those in need!
Everything has been relatively quiet here. Chris has gone camping and dune buggy riding out to the desert with his girlfriends family.

Chief, that plastic sheathing under the house has nothing to do with the new liquor store coming to town, does it?
Spent 3 days working on the layout, had a low DCS signal that was really bugging me. Couldn't figure out why, it used to be all 9's and 10's, now 4's and 5's. After a day and half of troubleshooting couldn't figure out why. Finally decided to put a pass car on each block and checking each connection. Tested signal strength and it was 10's. Then realized the problem. I had a old Lionel bumper on a siding near the control panel. I moved it a couple of months ago to a engine yard. Yep, it was functioning as a "magic lamp", so as soon as I installed a dedicated magic bulb on the terminal strip all problems went away. DUH !!
Fife, got the car on its way to Io-way, should arrive there early next week assuming no bad weather.
Don't want to get too boring, think I will go down and see what's happened at the club in the past month, one of the guys ordered some stuff so will deliver it.
Oh Yeah, Train show in Anahiem, this weekend (SP are you going), think I will go down on Sunday. A local radio show has a computer talk show on weekends, the host called and asked if I would come to the station on Saturday as a guest speaker to discuss printers. So it will end up being a free infomercial, can't refuse that.

Well, so far, so good, but after a kidney stone blast you really don't know. The concept sounds good; blast the stone into small fragments that can be passed without extruciating pain. However, from experience I know the small fragements can sometime clog the urninary tract and then you beg for someone to shoot you. Thanks, to everyone for their support, thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for all the prayers YUZ GYZ sent for my SIL BERNICE and BRO MARK. We had the funeral Mass yesterday all went well. My COUSIN celebrated the Mass and was fitting for he also married them 20 years ago. She is at rest now.

Morning all. Really got frigid again overnight, but sunny. Great to 'see' Sir James and happy birthday to his dad. We have been fortunate to never lose power for a significant amount of time - maybe it's because most of our utilities are buried. Prayers for Laz, his bro, Buckeye, Greg, Dennis and Brutus. Had an unexpected treat yesterday - an old friend who was unexpected in town called and we got together to catch up over a beer - I haven't seen him in years. Going to return some things this morn - a $100 power cord for my work laptop that died (I realize I'll never get reimbursed for it), a gift I bought for my god-daughter without feedback from my teens ;)Hope to work on the layout tomorrow - gotta find a camera to show you the changes.

We have bright sun,22 degrees and about an inch of snow. Can't tell for sure as the wind is blowing it all over the place. Oh well I have a full tummy this morning as granny fixed eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast.
Doug,I don't know how your crew car got routed here but it is safely back in Ann Arbor. Well a new year begins soon so I guess that means we start with page one tomorrow. If the chief wakes up in time to do it.

The Office of the President Elect (whatever that is) advised it will be visiting Baltimore on Jan 17th, hence the knee-jerk reaction of all the surrounding jurisdictions was to cancel everyone's leave that day. Great. Wifey and I already rented a hall that Saturday for #2 daughter's sweet 16... Didn't pull the lever for him, and he's already affecting my way-of-life...
...for a little good news... Picked up some trees for 70% off at JoAnn's, and some fencing, a cute outhouse scene, a pony ride scene, and a holiday wreath display for 50% at Kmart!

I picked up a new railroad calendar yesterday at Orchard Supply Hardware. Paintings by one of my favorite artist, John Winfield. I have several of his prints. There is one in the calendar of an SP set of Alco PA and PB engines on a trestle in the Cascades. Another with Cab forward helper on the point at Beaumont, California and still another cab ahead on tehachapi. Also included are pictures of N&W 611, some Milwaukee streamlined steam engines and a picture of SP 4449. You have to ask for the calendars. They keep them hidden under the counter. I bought a tube of crazy glue at the store and left it outside where I was looking at the calendar. Well at least it was only two bucks. Duh! I guess I'm getting old or it is a sign of the times. The "lady" at the check out counter had more tatoos on her arms than any sailor I ever saw. She did not have red smiley lips or big eyes painted on but the hair was about right. I guess I'm spoiled by ladies from the South where I grew up. Katy Scarlet, where are you when we need you. Call me old fashion. Ray

Laz, that line about using Buckeye's kidney stones for ballast about made me spit my teeth out...and they're real! Glad things went well for Bernice's funeral. In the end, it is a celebration of the life of that person. Tough part is going to be in a few weeks after the shock wears off for your Bro. As close as you two are, I am glad you will be there for him....he'll need it.
Have father in law and his bride coming to visit tomorrow. I am tired of cooking and with the GI pain still strong, I'll make reservations! Besides, I can't take pain medication if I am on call, and I doubt I will be able to eat much as when I eat...more pain. Oh well, this too shall pass.

Chief, regarding the release of the movie DVD, Yeah I preordered as well. Think I will order a group of 10 copies from the church. Two versions out there. the one from Lifeway and church have some added features that the release to general market won't have. Also, some stores are doing a special that you get the sound track and another DVD on marriage for free.

You know what will be going inside that one [Cruise Commander Combo]. Then she will lashup with the NS and Conrail ones I have converted.

From all the sudden deaths recently it brought to mind one of the things we had to do before being ordained. We had to plan our funeral every step of the way, from the director & casket to the burial lot and music. At the time it seemed a little weird, but after I had finished planning the funeral there was a sense of relief because I now know that Mary or whoever will not have the task while working through their grief. I am now trying to get Mary my bride to get her plans written down too. Just a thought to make things easier for loved ones.

Chief, Did you take a look at those "Coyote Rollers" ? If memory serves they are a tad pricey but they seem to work quite well.
Will be at the museum tomorrow and friday, don't expect a lot of folks tomorrow but friday should be very busy.
Hope Buckeye is careful with that accordian, that could be hazardous to your health.
