Good evening All

The wind has calmed but coming back tomorrow they say. TV news says about 200,000 without power and may be Wed nite before all the repairs are made. I watched, napped, and watched the end. NFL history has a new record holder today. And just as bad is the team owner who seems clueless about what to do.Dah. So no trains today, spent the morning talking to Brutus by e-mail and then THEE game. It's 33degrees but I'll have some banilla, heck maybe even a root beer..S.J.

Not good.  Been there and done that.  Thanks to good old generator.  Prayers for all those folks.

Sturg, got some sliced side meat in frig.  Fried some of it the other morning.  Not good for your blood pressure.  Sure is good though.

Speaking of temps.  It is 64 outside right now.  About to turn on A/C as rather warm inside.  Have not seen tomorrow's forecast today.  Last night they said 50 was the high for Monday.  Dougsnotagrump, will have to check that out.  Got a link, send it to me.  Hate to use electric fence on her.

Good night all.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite [no Buckeye, we do not have bed bugs but I know you Yanks do].

Had a nice email talk with Sir J this AM, then finished that wall I started last week, framed around a closet door, and moved some stuff out of the way (mostly).  I tried to replace one of the windows in the basement with an off-the-shelf unit, but it's too big.  I'll keep this one as I plan to put a little shed out behind the house next year.  So, I'll use this window on the shed.  As for the broken one (only the inside pane), I'm going to call and see if I can get it replaced under warranty.  If not, I'll have to special order a replacement.  I had framed down from some plumbing before, but I think it might all be up above the drop ceiling?  I'll have to check it out with a level and make sure it's not lower than the door/ceiling level.  If it's okay, I can quickly remove it that little bit of framing.  Also, one of the floor joists is split at a knot, so I need to stub a sleeper to keep it all together - should be easy and I have all the bolts and even a 2 x 10 I can use.  One thing I picked up a couple weeks ago has turned out to be really cool.  Sears has an 'auto' switch - it's a 3 outlet plug in unit that activates two outlets when power is turned on to a tool plugged into the 1st outlet.  I used it to run a shopvac with tubing to my cut-out tool to get a lot of the drywall dust.  It continues to run the vac for about 15 seconds after the tool is turned off, also.  I then swappe the tubing to my mitersaw and it worked good there as well.  I think I might buy another one of these - it's a winner!  I know it's just a relay attached to two outlets and activated by the other one, but for the price, it was a great deal ($20).

Hey Doug - how about some pics of the addition to the layout?

Tardis is running a little late, but I sense banilla and also I think RT must have been baking again?  On the way Wink

Good morning.  Been working for a little bit, no cases today, but have some house keeping (read that: paperwork) to take care of.  I would much rather spend a whole day in the OR doing cases than just a few hours of paperwork.  Supposed to go to the mid 60s today with some rain.  Not sure we will be putting the trampoline up today...who knows, maybe some layout work.

Seems lots of new folks with lots of questions lately...a good thing.  I have been reading some scenery books my parents sent for Christmas.  I have a lot of work ahead of me.  Trying to do hirail, but may not be as detailed as some of the folks who we see here.

Better get going.  Hope everyone has a good week ahead.

God Bless,
Dennis

 Dennis--

Wish we lived closer so we could help with your scenery, we had the best time with that aspect of the build.  Just remember, Hydrocal is your friend along with paper towels, wadded up newspaper and the rubber rock molds.  Depending on your layout size consider buying a 50# bag of Hydrocal, MUCH cheaper than buying smaller quantities when you need it, we finally figured that out the hard way.

Thank You GYZ, for the condolences.

If there is a good thing that came out of this is that BERNICE gave the Gift of Life to 4 people the day after she died.  They used her kidneys, liver, cornias, and tissue and bone.  BRO and all of us are happy for this.  She is being cremated today and we are having a Mass tomorrow morning at 1130.  She will be buried on top of her MOM and next to her DAD.  Please continue to keep my BRO in your prayers.  We still have a few things to do, see YUZ sometime.

HICUP! HICUP!

Funny how a little YANKEE gal who works for the big newspaper tries to make a story.  She is not aware of our ABC stores in NC.  Run by the County and State monitored.  Can only buy liquor there.  No wine, beer or champaign.  First she tried to get me to say we were having a big party at it grand opening and toasting with champaign.  Told her no champaign, then she said beer, told her no beer, then she tried wine and I said no wine.  In fact you can NOT consume on the property.  The local weekly did a headlines, "Rolesville Town Board lifts glass as they approve ABC store."  Did she get chewed for that one.

Morning all.  Spitting rain but soon to be gone.  Yesterday hit record high [74].  Still to stay in upper 50's to middle 60's.  Got to run.  Have a great week and God bless.

PS: Dennis, a DR. should have great hands for doing scenery.  Us politicians have to get help [con someone into helping]. Laugh

Good Morning All

Well chief, another fine mess you got yourself into.

Sunny and going to 40s today. wind is expected back by this afternoon. Not quite as high as sunday. 20/30 MPH today and tomorrow. I did some errands this morning and its nice out although we are in need of grits, saw some giant potholes here and there. Grits seems to last just as long as tar. Have a great monday....S.J.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all in need of them.  I'm lighting a candle today for you guys and I'll have a talk w/ the big guy for you.

I haven't been on here very much, but it always feels like home when I look around on here.

I see Chief is still causin' trouble down south...a "rebel" rebel.

I sent my nephew a few new pieces to his train set I built for him last year.  He's 2.  He got a special MTH boxcar that celebrates Christmas in Pittsburgh (where he's from) and some traditional 3-rail track for a traditional look under the tree if they want a change from Fastrack.

Have a great day.,

Dan

God bless, and I'm lighting the candle and saying prayers  right now for those in need of them, even if you haven't disclosed the need here on the board.

Hello to All-

Home from work today..still trying to shake this pneumonia.  Kids are home with me.

Going to head out to the train room after the wife gets home.  I started yesterday on some small hills by the mountain, today I need to put some sculptamold over the plaster cloth.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.

Laz- sorry for your loss, I'll keep your family in my prayers.

Steer clear of those potholes SJ, something tells me the Chief is going to take his sweet time getting any grits to us to fill the holes.......

Jon.....I'm not sure we should make fun of Roseyville's certain demise.  If you haven't noticed everything started to go down the drain after the last mayoral election.  They threw out that nice, sophisticated, smart and wise lady mayor and elected a scallywag of grand proportions.  Since the election, the school buses have become lost on a new road, the water in the reservoir is missing and someone is shooting the beavers out by the pond.  Our beloved arm pit of the nation, Roseville, may be the next place asking for a bailout.  It would be extremely costly to you and I.

From now on maybe we should refer to Roseyville as HOOCHVILLE, NC. or BOOZE TOWN, NC.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  Wife and I took Lucas up to Indy for a checkup.  He is ok.  All of us went downtown so we could exchange a present for the wife.  While we were there, I showed them the cubicle where I worked and introduced them to some of the people I work with.  We also went to Steak and Shake and to Border's.  Laz, please accept my condolences on your loss.  I am glad some people donated a large part of themselves so that a small part of your sister-in-law could live on.  (I do not know if that sounds as well I mean for it to or not, but please accept it with the best of intentions.  It is a based on a speech in an old "Hill Street Blues" episode that was promoting organ donation.  I am listed as an organ donor myself and I hope someday to be as generous as your sister-in-law.)    Yesterday I ran the Alaska set some more, again with no pileups (in honor of Laz).  Tomorrow, my wife's sister and her family will be up for a visit and we will take them to the local history museum.   I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I'm someone who knows neither you nor your BRO, nor your wife nor his. But please know I will pray for your family.

LOL! This is just too much! 'Our churches are done for good!' I love people who think liquor stores bring about the demise of The Church - heck they should take a trip up here to Mt Airy! We have liquor/beer/wine stores about 2 every 1/2 mile, and the local Churches? Thriving, just thriving... although at our church we serve grape juice (probably because there isn't enough wine at the local stores)... and speaking of wine... there are 4 vineyards within 15 miles of my house!

Anyone catch that the new liquor store is on Pine VINEYARD Rd?

Have more respect for Chief now though 'Patronize if you want, or stay away.' Hmmm... maybe this Country could use more of this philosophy... Whistling

88, you can now hunt over "salt" blocks, feeders and feed plots.  Deer season starts in September and goes through Jan 1 of each year.  Still over populated.  Even have to kill so many does or quit hunting.  One of the hunters today is a preacher of a small Church.  He has a big family.  His oldest son [about 12] has killed a 5 pointer and big doe on the lease.  They have freezers and that is how he feeds his family [along with garden in the summer, wife cans and freezes veggies].

Speaking of liquor stores.  Funny that the three predominately white Churches [we have all races in our Chruch] in Town and the one African-American Church in Town did not say a word.  There remarks to me were, "I don't have to use it if I don't want too."  The Rev. mentioned in the article is a female African-American preacher of an independant Church that is NOT in our Town nor in our ETJ.  Most of the petition signers were from other towns.  Guess it is time for me to go get a Dewars and water on the rocks.  Oops, ran out a month ago and did not drive to the neighboring town to get another bottle.  Oh well.  Guess I will wait until I get to lake house. Think there is some there.  A funny story.  One of the Town Board members that voted No is a non-drinker.  His wife comes to our house and gets wine [Pam has a supply in a wine cabinet in the kitchen] in a red plastic cup so she can sneak a drink around him. WhistlingLaugh  People are funny.

Well just got a call from donna's cousin in Texas who has been like a second mother to Donna. well she has 2 half brothers the older one was in Viet nam and got some good doses of Agent orange from what we understand. hes been getting problems from it well last night he took a gun and blew his brains out ( as Ruby put it) She was real upset so please pray for Ruby as shes very old and frail ( in her late 70's) and this has just about broke her sprit for a while any way she has aleways been a christian lady and I feel for her. I'm the one that took the call and listened first. Wife is on phone to her now. I feel so sorrow for her. She's been thru so much these last few years.

Hope all is doing well. things are looking up here just was informed of another opening coming up at wiork so I'm going to try for that as it would be a great improvement to what I'm doing with a great chance for better pay raises every coulpe of years. Wish me luck you all.

Not much else going on right now
