I can't not spell neither.  I'll use a spell check when someone is paying me to write......otherwise its no big deal.  I am guilty of hitting the send button before I check it over most of the time though!

Man I just finished putting up drywall on our kitchen ceiling... That SUCKED...  Now I have to tape and mud it, my least favorite job I think.  I guess you can't claim you did it yourself unless you suffered through the pain and did it!   At least I was lucky enough to have had an uncle help me with 4 of the more unruley sheets (the ones with the recessed lights in them).

Record temps here in West Lafayette as well, either 62 or 68F.  Boy some storms just blew through though, all kinds of limbs down.

Good evening all,

It is warm and rainy and windy in SE Indiana with temps near 70!  Went to my sister's today for family gathering.  Did not go well.  Brother-in-law was sick and both of my daughters were dragging.  I think it was too much for them.  Kids enjoyed presents but were both too tired and too wound up.  Came home and took Lucas and his girlfriend out to Frisch's for supper.  Sister did surprise me today with a Buffy calendar for 2009.  Did not know those were still made but glad to have one.  Ran the Alaska set using the new switch and had a passing siding with the switches on the curves.  Ran for an hour with no Pileups.  Sliced a finger somehow while putting track together.  Did not feel it until I washed my hands and noticed blood dripping off finger.  Not sure how it happened or why I did not feel it.  I had streusel for the last time in quite a while on the dining car.  I also got my CTT today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Late evening all,

Been so busy last few months I have not had the ability to post. Have a good break for the holidays - office closed until Jan 5th basically. Some will return on the 2nd for one day but not me.

Had a nice Christmas here. No train gifts this year except for the Hallmark tinplate style loco that is made of plastic? Got enough train stuff during the year and I am running out of space to store it.

Been looking at autos as youngest will be driving in '09. Oldest graduates HS this Spring and we promised her a new (ah - make that a "newer") car if she did well enough on her retaking of the SAT to expand the number of schools that might accept her. Well she brought her score up significantly (I believe she thought it wasn't really important the first time). The Taurus will go to the younger one. He is not too happy about getting the Taurus but that is the way it is. He is sorry now he officially named it the "Loser Cruzer" a couple of years ago. That name stuck and all his friends know about it. Hey I drove an Olds Delta 88 when I started.

Rained pretty good here this am - hit 83 yesterday and is now down to 45 - maybe high 30's tonight. Nice change from the multiple days below freezing the last couple of week.

Hope everyone is preparing for a pleasant New Years celebration.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Mornin' boys.  Hey, mornin' Roy!  Overcast, breezy (LED icycle lates are taping on windows) and 52 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Never did get to go trackside on vacation.  Might slip down to the B&O museum next week...  Hope my RAVENS can seal-the-deal today.  GO JOE FLACCO!

sir james - a-n-y-time. Cool

Phish - Hope I don't "trip" you up while your giving the hominy, sorry, h-o-m-i-l-y today.  Kinda reminds me of the scene in GREEN MILE when they have Toots in "old Sparky" for the test run...classic!

HI GYZ,

Hope one and all had a nice Christmas?

Ours was different.  On Christmas Eve BRO called at noon to tell me to get down his place fast.  Got there and ambulance was taking his wife BERNICE to hospital.  I took BRO down and we stayed with her there all nite.  Came home changed and went back to stay with her in the ICU, until 530 PM Christmas day.  She was pronounced dead at that time.  She had died of a brain anurysm.  She was 59 years old.  Please pray for BERNICE and MARK.

Ditto that Laz.  Speaking of praying, our Pastor is in vacation in Texas, so guess who gets to preach?  To paraphrase Dr. McCoy: Dammit Jim, I'm a Disc Jockey, not a preacher!  I'm preaching on train heads who don't read their instruction manuals... (kidding!)

But I'll give it a whirl.

You won't believe this, but here in Northern Vermont it is raining and 44 and going up to 56.  For those of you who were here for the TCA Convention in June, that's pretty much status quo!

I spent some good quality time in the train room yesterday.  I had a blinky green bulb in one of my switch controllers.  Turns out it had unscrewed itself over the last ten years.  How does that happen?!

I cleaned the contacts on my Operating Track Controllers.  Much better operation now.

I replaced and soldered new wires to the flying shoes on one of my old Log Cars.

Everything (except one coal loader) works as advertised.  The coal loader is one of the more recent #497 types.  The can motor makes noise, but the tray no longer lifts.

Unfortunately it's in the middle of a long passing siding with scenery and all kinds of other accessories around it, so it may have to wait awhile!

My deepest condolonces for you and your family.  It is so hard losing someone, especially on Christmas Day.  I'm sure she has a special place to be called home on Christmas.  God Bless you and your family.  I hope the grief is brief and the memories last forever.

How horrible, LAZ.  Prayers go out to you and the BRO.  Look after him.

Kooljock, cook some grits and pack them around the base of that bulb.  Will hold it tight and will not unscrew. Whistling

Fifey, reduce the size of my waist line.  Walking and walking and trying ot cut back [hard to do during Chirstmas].  Still no results.

NEWS FLASH.  Horns blowing, Lucy in the street.  She can now jump to the top of a 4 foot chainlink fence.  Her Mom is bad about putting her in the fence and leaving her for a time.  Today after Early Church and SS, she did it.  Lucy jumped out.  I put her back in and hid.  In a minute, she ran to the side of the gate [did not try the gate], jumped and front feet were on the pipe at the top, back feet were in the spaces in the fencing and over she comes.   That little black dog is unbelievable.

It is almost 70 degrees!!!!!

Later.

Laz, Condolences to your bro and the rest of the family.

Jim, He didn't opt for the electrocoupler on the H.E. tender.

Chief, Out here they have something called a "Coyote Roller". It goes on the top of the fence and when a coyote(dog) trys to climb over it rolls so they can't use it for leverage.

Afternoon all. Back from serving on camera 3 at church. Everyone else stayed home. Cold here again but sunny.

Laz, I am so sad about your and Mark's loss. Our prayers for your whole family. Going to a wake in a little while for a friend whose elderly mom died on Christmas Eve.

I had a great gift of time to work on the layout for a few hours yesterday - without 'help' - I put in 6 switches that allow me to run a train from any line to any line. I want to experiment with allowing Thomas et al to park themselves in a three-track engine house and then go out on their work.

Good afternoon from beautiful warm (50°F) sunny Southern Ohio,

Just home from the services this morning, I preached and got several compliments on my homily.  I just thanked God because it is from Him and for Him.

Chief – Thanks, I also like salt pork.

Laz – Mark and Bernice are in my prayers right now as I type and will be as you and your family work through the grief.

May God bless, especially Mark and Bernice

Laz, so sorry to hear of such a tragic loss.  We will pray for your family.  May God meet you at your need and may His peace and comfort come to you.

Well, I worked lights this morning and tonight we have a special service.  Music director basically told me to "wing it" with manual cues.....this will be interesting.  Pastor told us of the Youth pastor and his wife who had lost the baby on Monday.  They went up to pediatric ICU and brought gifts to all the nurses and care givers up there.  One of the nurses told them that she had asked Christ into her heart during the funeral.

I have been wiped out this afternoon and the kids have been sick.  I was reclinerizing on the couch and woke to find the bride had taken down all the decorations.  Only thing left is for me to take down tree and Christmas layout.

God Bless,

Dennis

Laz, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother's wife.  It is bad enough to lose a loved one but on Christmas day just adds to the pain.  I know because my own Dad died on Christmas day back in the 60's. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and Bro.

God bless and help your family cope with this.

Laz man, they are in our prayers... Lost my dad at that age to colon cancer, but that was slow and the end was expected to come at some point.  I can't even imagine without warning.

I can tell you will, but take care of your bro, he'll need ya.

This may sound trivial, but maybe the trains will allow you a little down time when its appropriate.

Take care man

There seems to be a balance  between how much whiskey allows me to mentally complete the mud job and of course causes other issues.  So far so good! I'm half way done with a 20X13 room and still upright.

Those darn Bears stink!!!

Was warm inside today anyway had the heat set down to 63 and it got to 67 by itself.... I didn't think I worked that hardSmile but tomorrow I will start on the hardwood floor in the dining room and kitchen.  The wife and kids are at the MIL's house and I'll go up there for New years so I have to get as much done as I can.  No trains for me tonight, just drywall mud and Led Zepplin......
