Merry Christmas everyone!

Chief you're right on!  Santa made a stop here!  Becca is excited...She said she heard the reindeer last night...Trish still doesn't seem to understand.  But she'll be diggin' the opening of the gifts!

We'll be off to another part of the family today, for some great times together.  Tim (Uncle-in-law) is a Pastor at his Church, and doesn't get to leave his flock often so we're going to spend Christmas Day with him, and his family.

Happy Christmas all. Cold but sunny here. The youngest insists he heard reindeer over night - nice to see things through his eyes for another. The kids are all playing some electronic band-thing together.  May God bless you all - every one.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

It is a beautiful, sunny day. Except it is 24 degrees. Going up to 36 today.

Today is a quiet day.  Just enjoying the day and a nice home cooked meal.  The wife and I did not exchange gifts, again, this year. We , instead, used the money for the Grandkid's gifts.  Mailed the gifts to them.  No visits this year.

Dining car was here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas to all.  Slow moving this AM.  Usual Christmas breakfast of stuffed sausage biscuits.  Younest told Mom on phone she had sausage biscuits but not like mine.  They should be on the way soon.  Think SIL does not have time for Christmas.  Burg was happy with his Santa.  He got chews and they are almost gone.  Lucy got chews and squeeky toys.  Not to happy with Santa.  I asked that he deliver SNOW to Buckeye from Christmas Eve until tonight.  That way Buckeye could use his snow blower all through Christmas.  Think all he sent was cold air.  Now as for my buddy in Ioway, think he may have gotten Buckeye's share. Laugh

Real warm and rainy [not raining but spits once in a while].  Later.

everyone needs to check their houses.  Santa left grits in every Yankee house.

Well, my son was the first one up - at 2AM!  Yikes!  Made him stay in bed until 7 and then stalled until 8, just to really torture him Wink

I can't find any grits, but Chewy is just laying on the floor with a pooched out belly and moaning....  Hmmmm....?  Could be all the Scooby Snacks she got from the Big Guy.  I got some Lionel tin signs that my wife said are for "the train room" -- AHA!  My plan is working!  If I take long enough finishing the basement, it will be mine, all mine, bwahahahahahaha!  Also got some "DAD" pens and keychains (Santa Store at school - what a scam, sheesh.  Of course the proceeds are used to offset expenses/salaries or something).  I got a board game where you connect towns with railroads to make money, but it has dragons and trolls and stuff - sounds interesting!  The locomotives are dragons Laugh

We're watching a show(s) about the top 100 toys of all time.  Everything from erector sets to GI Joe and Tonka Toys.  I'm betting that Lionel Trains show up - but, we're down to like 25 and haven't seen it yet.  I'll keep you posted!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Neat handcar, Buckeye!

Well Mrs. santa saw how much I liked the Cascade train set that was sent for the V.A. (I really am impressed with that 0-6-0 engine it really looks sharp.) Well she saw that she could have gotten the engine and the caboose for $59.99+$15.00 Shipping. (didn't tell here I was trying to best offer but it fell thru he had best offer but wouldn't budge from it acually lol) and the three log cars for $34.89 + $14.45 shipping so it was a total of $124.33 she then saw the whole set for $133.00 + 11.03 shipping for a total of $144.03 so she got me the whole set. Went to a website of a seller on ebay. Turns out hes only about 1 hour away here in SC and it looks like hes got some great prices on his stuff. He has the hogwart express set for $189.00 (I went there after she told me about it) With free shipping.

Just got home from work about 1/2 hour ago, off tomorrow then work weekend and monday. Well will talk to you all later hope you all had a good christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope every one has a great day and gets what they wished for.  The Santa Fe El Capitan was a hit. Son was so happy It brought me to tears. That was the best present I could get. Daughter and bride were also vary happy and surprised. I took notes and and got my too girls exactly what they wanted. No trains for me but I can honestly say it feels better to give than receive. Well shouldnt say no trains I did receive a few gift cards to a local train shop. Merry Christmas all ! Talk later.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  We had streusel on the dining car for breakfast.  Dad and the kids were all here before 1 PM.  Some interesting presents were given and received by everyone.  Lucas and I both got two Nerf guns, one of which is a rapidfire 25 shot gun.  I goofed on a present for the wife as the earrings I got her were not her style.  Fortunately they can be exchanged.  Lucas' sister made him a cool outfit for his medieval sword fighting group.  Dad opened up the local museum so the grandkids could see the train displays.  I also got two e-mails from my Norwegian soccer friends.  I hope everyone has a good day.  As I said yesterday, "Merry Christmas!"

Keep on training,

Good evening, It's been a happy, but long day here.  Guests started arriving about 8:30 this morning and the last left about 10:00 PM.  6 adults plus us 2 & 6 grandkids from 2 to 15.  Kept the place hopping.  About to hit the sack. Hope everyone enjoyed their day.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  I trust everyone had a Happy Christmas. and hope that Santa brought y'all something nice.  And if you found coal in your stockings. I hope it was LIONEL Rotary Coal.

We truly had a great day in fifedom, as we hosted our family for dinner (traditional crabcakes and spiral sliced ham).  Everyone was happy with their gifts, and I was glad to finally open my Chessie GP7 (MTH) and WM NE caboose (Weaver).

Really put in some effort on the layout, and although it's not complete, it's starting to jump to life.  Ran trains 'til I started to nod off before midnight.  Was all good.

Chief - Congrats, "Paw Paw!"

Congratulations Santa Chief!  Will lift them up in prayers for a healthy and safe delivery.
Christmas was both great and humbling.  The kids were sick and we all had a rough night.  I finally got to bed about 0430 and wife's sister calls at 0500.  It was all over, time to get up as that got kids up too.  Amazing how kids with fevers and coughing, etc., can suddenly spark to life and smile when you put a room full of presents in their path.  They were extremely happy with their gifts, bride loved hers, and I finally got to open my Southern Mikado.  Boy is it a beautiful piece of art.  Can hardly wait till she runs the rails.

I got called in early afternoon to work on a Patient.  Took a few hours, but she is doing well.  Earlier Christmas morning, a young lady who had just delivered a baby had some problems and she died...reminded me of how precious life is and how on a day like that, it could change the way a family looks at Christmas forever.  Sad...

Of course the case I was involved with pushed dinner back.  If they had called me a half hour later, I would have just had the turkey in the fryer and it would have been tough to cook dinner.  As it was, things worked out.  Our company waited till I called when finished with the case.  They came over and we all had a delicious dinner together.  The folks we invited over are a couple who he is a first assistant on heart cases who is a traveller.  He and his wife live in a RV and go from asignment to asignment.  They have kids and grandkids, but they are all away from the area.  Christmas is one of those dinners that seem better when it is shared.

Well, I am here again.  Cath lab has a bunch of cases on schedule, so I'll hang around covering things and taking care of paperwork.  I also got some scenery books from my parents, so I'll read some of those while waiting.

God Bless,
Dennis

Morning all. Congratulations to Gramps x 2. Glad to hear about the nice days. Cold,  grey, supposed to  rain. Nowhere for it to go with all the snow.  The kids were happy. We had a nice dinner and spent the evening at a neighbors.  I need some non-people time. Wink Hopefully today though the teens want to go out and spend various gift cards. Dennis, a good, sad reminder about the precious-ness of life.

Just a couple more things:
Underworld, your T-Rex and Perry's should get together on SPF and see who can out-do the other regarding distruction and Mayhem.

Buckeye, Dave Grossman listed in the back of CTT has the parts for that #200/2000 Marx handcar.  I picked up one of the figures and he also sent me the diagrams for fixing her up.  It has one grey man and one blue.  They are easy to repair and work OK.

Lastly, I have to commend 'Birds' on his treatment of Lisa on the question of needing a transformer in a pinch.  Read the thread, but essentially, she had difficulty with a faulty Powermax transformer from Lionel.  They sent her  a replacement that also had a problem.  Her local hobby shop only offered to sell her a new one for over $100.  In the end, Birds came through and got one of his to her so that her son could have the train running for Christmas.....that is what I love about this site.  We may not always agree, but we are always, at heart, good people enjoying a great hobby.

Dennis

PS: It was 77 degrees yesterday and about the same for today.

Morning!

Uncle In Law had a 1684 pre-war  engine and set, and a 628 postwar switcher and set they grew up with.  I brought them home, for a cleaning...FiL remembered the operating track to uncouple the cars...Everything clean...I sat with them last night as they reminiced about the trains.  I am planning to set everything up, as everyone is comming over today for dinner...and watch the 60 something in-Laws get to be kids again!

Morning.  Suppose to be raining.  Was sunny and warm.  Getting cloudy.  Wish today was like yesterday.  If so, I would be fishing.  Went to pond before going to MIL's.  Fish swirling around up and down the bank.  Guess I will go walk early as it might be raining later.  Cart coming to see Choochoo.  Seems his Mom tried to put together his Thomas set and had problems with him wanting to pull track apart.  Now his Dad is builder and has a masters in engineering.  Wounder why he has not put it on a board.  Guess Gramps will have to drive to Wilmington and fix.  All he talks about is how great he, himself, is and everything he has is better than everyone elses.  Don't get me started on son-in-laws.  Will give him credit, works hard and keeps them in the high $$$$ life style.

Hope all are having a great time playing with their "Santa".

Mornin' Fellas.

Well Christmas was a blast at our house yesterday. We hosted Susan's family (total of 14 of us at the dinning table), but her 3.5 yo niece stole the show. She as a blast to have around this year, and we're all looking forward to next year! My big gift this year has been sitting in our family room since the day after Thanksgiving. Susan bought me a 50" plasma screen to replace my old 55" rear projection HDTV (big hulking bulk of a thing), so I wasn't expecting much. When my FiL showed up he only had one box, and it was rather large, and for me! Smile, upon opening I was, to say the least, floored! Inside was the LRRC TMCC Crane and Boom Cars! They immediately found their way down to the train room and took a lap on the layout. Clearance adjustment has to be made at one tunnel portal, so not too big an impact on current construction. I also got a good bit done on the cliff scene - more on that later.

I see Fife had a colorful X-Mas!

My prayers were answered! Buckeye didn't have to use his snowblower this Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Southern Ohio

It sounds like a Merry Christmas was had by all.  We had a great Christmas here.  I have the best bride and grandkids!  They got me a Polar Express starter set for Christmas.  It is very nice and runs very well.  I was totally surprised.  Daughter’s boyfriend, the one who likes trains, got me a 979 caboose that clinched the deal.  I really like this guy.

Chief – Congrats on the grandkid front!

Dennis – Maintaining priorities of what is important does raise its head now, and if we work at we can continue to infuse that sense of values and belief we can have a CHRISTmaslike spirit all the time.

Merry Christmas and may God bless

Jim

Good morning - running late today.  Gotta get a haircut today, do some stuff with the family and also want to get to Lowes.  Had nice talks with RT and Sir James on email last night late.  Finally caught up on some sleep.  Dennis, I don't know how you function with so little sleep sometimes.  Sad story.  Chief - Big Congrats on the coming grandchild!  Too much to comment on every post, but sounds like some great Christmas presents were given and received and good fun was had by all.  TTFN!
