HI GIZ,

Nice again today at 55 this morning going up to 80 today.  Today is my day off from running, resting those knees.  I get to cut grass this morning then a BIG SALE at BARRYs TRAIN SHOP!  It started yesterday and runs thru Saturday.  The big items on sale are the CASCADE SET by Lionel that retails for $239 now on sale for $99.  Also the HARRY POTTER set list $299 on sale for $199. Kline Ply. switcher on sale for $45. Nascar SET listed for $299 on sale for $89.  Lionel PRR RS11 list for 285 sale 150.  Just some of the on sale stuff at BARRYs.  Going down this afternoon.  Thinking of getting the Cascade Mt. Set?  Brother already has me picking one up for him.

GOLFED yesterday and stunk up the course again.  Can't find my game?  Shooting a wedge from anywhere from 150  yards in and I'm blowing it way past the green.  Just cant find the right swing, oh well, the wings and beers tasted great afterwards.  Maybe next week I'll get my first win?

  BUCKEYE, TGIF!

Hello youse giz...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Up to 90 again today with 30% showers/thunder/lightning, ya know the whole Florida subTropical thingy.  Got rained out AGAIN last night, and the make up games will all be double headers.  HOO BOY!!!  All near the end of July (yes, very hot then).

Brent - Glad SusieQ is home, and yep, know 'bout them codones...bad stuff

Mel - Prayers ongoing for Madge...Angel [angel]

Apartment empty, need to clean it after work...then Train Store during the day and off to Gainesville for the evening and Sunday Morning.  Princess is heading North Saturday, off to the "wilds" of New Jersey.  2 weeks.  She got back from dance camp yesterday, took a 6 hour nap (but, Dad, all they do is eat, sleep and Dance!!!).  She got 2 first place & a 2nd.  Good job on her part!

Got off on July 3rd, 4 days of peace (yeah, right....), will have our annual trek down town to find a good fireworks viewing spot, set up the chairs and coolers and have a good ol' time.

Brutus:  Did the ol' Pine Barrens evil spirit dance, took a few hours, I'll spare y'all the GORY details....it wasn't pretty..

See ya in a few!

Fife - She's not loopy - still lucid and has her wits about her. She just hears things and then over reacts.

Jack - While I love my FiL I would never ask him to knock anything off my honey-do-list... I'd have a bigger job fixing what he did! Shock [:O] As for orders... nope just a bunch of whining when asking for something. Like I wouldn't do it for her any way! She woke me up at 2am wanting something to drink and a popsicle. While I could have walked 30 feet from the bed to the bathroom facet for water, the popsicle required traversing stairs in the middle of the night 3/4 asleep. Then I get back to sleep and get awoken because she can't sleep and wants to watch TV but can't reach the remote because she can't stretch. Whistling [:-^] I love her to death. Hate seeing her like this because she isn't herself. She's also a bit down because of the 'complications' that were identified during the procedure... nothing we can control, just have to roll with the blows and come up with a new plan of attack.

Was watching Overhaulin' last night and got to thinking that it would be something cool to do for Susie-Q. Then I decided against it because her dream vehicle most likely involved turbine engines and tracks... not sure M1-A1 Abrahms are street legal?

After reading Rich's FLA. post, I got to thinking about where to watch fireworks on July 4.  What do you guys do?

Locally, Danvers MA. has a great show, but the crowds and traffic (no parking) are murder, must get there very early to find parking and claim a spot in Plains Park.  Then fight gridlock after the show.

The Boston Esplanade is spectacular, but the .5 million crowd make even taking public transportation nearly impossible.  We went down there when relatives from England were in town, caught the Boston Pops and the fireworks show.  We were like sardines and had to watch the show standing on the Longfellow Bridge.  After the show, we couldn't get on the Green Line (beyond packed) to catch the commuter rail line to North Station.  Had to hoof it, barely, made the last MBTA train North.  Swore I wouldn't do that again.  Those with boats, however, make the trip down the coast to Boston (about 22 miles) and anchor on the Charles River for the best view.  I need a boat.

Best overall for me has been Olgunquit ME.  You walk a trail Norht out of the downtown area up the cliffs.  You get a cool breeze and an unobstructed view of a series of coastal fireworks shows looking up the coast, first Olgunquit ME, then Wells ME, and finally Kinnebunk ME.  Had to decline an invite by the Bush family to their digs that year, I was too busy.

As the years progress, we've been having an all day cookout at my place with family and friends, and we watch what we can skyward from our deck, then move inside to watch the Boston show on the TV with surround sound while the engorged mosquitoes crawl off into the bushes and die from gluttony or some disease they picked up from me.

What are your plans?

Brent, I hope your wife recovers completely.

I knew when my wife was doing better when she started complaining about all the things I did wrong while trying to care for her.(two seperate operations, same results) I told her that next time she could stay with one of the kids, course no ones home during the day.

Brent.....sounds like poor post-op planning on your part.  Whistling [:-^]  Move bar fridge with mini freezer from train room to bedroom and stock it, have remote handy (tethered to her wrist), same with phone, and change/charge all batteries.  Don't forget her favorite munchies.  Keep menus by bedside, delivery outfits only.  Buy her Oprah and Cosmo magazines.  Rent Disney's Fantasia, good with the Oxy.  Re her problems sleeping, talk to her.....that should put her to sleep quickly. Zzz [zzz]  On the bright side, imagine if you still had satelite instead of cable.  I'd give $100 to hear that call to the DirecTV tech in the middle of the night, $500 if it was Susan making the call.

Jack, et al, sorry I do not have a digital camera to take layout pictures.  I don't know enough about posting on the internet either.  Sometimes I get my son to do it for me if I have something worth while.  We did visit my friend last night and had a good time.  He has created a real station platform in his backyard complete with real railroad track, car spot numbers, a baggage wagon and other railroadiana.  There was also a real block signal beside the track.  He keeps a track car (speeder) parked on the track.  There was also special lighting for nighttime.  After that we went inside to visit his MPC Lionel collection on the first floor which has almost every major set that MPC made.  Then it was on to the upstairs layout room  where we just O.D. ed on his post WWII Lionel trains and layout. He has trains from all the other manufacturers as well.  I appoligize for no pictures but I would probably need his permission to publish them.  Another oven here today, over  the century mark.

TGIF...........

Tomorrow is the big OTTS Tour of the Willoughby Toy Train Museum.  Chuck, I have the mules hitched up to the wagon and I will pick you up tomorrow.  You didn't expect me to drive did you with these gas prices?

Laz...I have a golf outing this next week and I have not even been to the range this year due to work.  Work is getting in the way of too many things, but it buys the trains.

Chief....When we talk the next time I need to warn you about new Ohio Yankee moving to your area.  Remember when Cuba sent all the prisoners to the U.S.?  It is analogous to that!  (Mmmm....I wonder if the Chief knows what analogous means.)  Chief, here it is again.  We are sending you all a stinker of a Yankee that has no manners to live in your area.  Good luck!

88....Did you give Susieq that big hug for me?

Don.....I hear it is a tad hot today in Southern California.  TV had it at 116 degrees.  Of course it is a dry heat.  Laugh [(-D]

Jack....The best place to watch fireworks is sitting in any boat on the water feeling the cool breeze in your face and the sky on fire.

Just purchased a new album, Freight Train Blues.  Good music for train guys.

Laz...for some reason I thought Barry's only carried MTH.  BTW, I will be in Bethlehem on Thanksgiving this year.  OTTS TRAIN STORE TOUR!!!  OTTSEPTST  Niece is getting married on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Mel....glad to hear the good report about Madge.

Brent, tell her they are in the "mail" from me. Whistling [:-^]  I have all those drugs left over from by-passes.  Don't tell me they expire.  Pam took some while she had her cancer in leg removed.  All she did was sleep for two days.  Couldn't keep her awake.  [hey, that might not be bad Whistling [:-^]Laugh [(-D]].

Rosyville is lucky this evening.  A storm made up over Rosyville.  It just kept raining.  Still sprinkling.  Right at 1/2 inch so far.  Funny, none of the other towns got any rain at all.  Thank you Lord.

Mel, told you this bunch can do some praying.  Glad for the good report.

Dennis, Kim told me why you have to work so much. Shock [:O]  Sorry for that.  You are a good sport to fill in.

Off to Subway for a sub.

Dr. gave me drugs for cough and told me to take wallet out of back pocket.  "But it is my left hip hurting."  "Its because you are putting more pressure on the left due to that bulged [not money but cards] wallet."  We'll see.  No relaxers due to they make your tummy hurt and I am on tummy med too.  Need to eat more GRITS.  [no joke]  OH BTW, could be train smoke making me have lung problems.

Later

PS: fife, hands on your shoulder.  Reminds me of a Dr. joke that I will not tell.  We had one guy who finally left that had a "little" dirty humor and I don't want to be called him. Shock [:O]

Good Evening

Mel, thats good news about your wife. Sounds like folks are on the mend. Did anyone besides me ever wonder about this coffee pot group, from all over the place, and all the medical problems we go through. coincidence? or too much train smoke? or  maybe that TMCC 18 volts.

We had a nice summer day with temps in the low 80s, It looked like a good time to cut and trim the grass, so I did. Also sent the birthday card to my aunt, but she may not get it till monday. I should have gotten it there before sunday.

Lots of snacks and banilla if you want to stop by,I suspect Brutus is at a feed trough somewhere so he may not be hungry......S.J.

Mel - sounds like good news on Madge.

CSXect - Hope your mother continues to improve

Jack - we will be in Soddy Daisy TN watching their spectacular local show!

LAZ - you and Tiger huh?

Don B - did you get my e-mail response to your e-mail?

Everyone watch out for Chuck and Buckeye in that mule cart on the interstate...

And ya'll watch out for the attack of the Killer Tomatos!

Have a great evening all!

Off to bed for me.  May go to the Lake [Kerr] tomorrow morning to look at a lot.  Buddy sent me a picture and text message about it.  Then go to Miss Edna's later.  I have a special patrol looking for the "mule cart" tomorrow.  BTW Buckeye: we have a couple from Ohizo living around the corner.  Good people [why they left Ohizo for NC] and very active.  Both on Parks and Rec. Good Evening All !  Sure is a lot to post so I know I'm going to miss some.

First OFF, and most important, Great NEWS about the ladies!!!  Glad everything has worked out so well.

I talked with Buckeye yesterday, a very brief but nice conversation, will have to do that again.  Sounds like the trip up to Tom's is well planned, hope he and Chuck get there and don't get lost, or washed away.  Who knows maybe they will bring back some souviners.  I feel for Chuck, he doesn't know but Buckeye made reservations at a 5 Star Restaurant and Chuck is buying.  I guess he was longing for something more than whats available at Rogers Corners.

Roy, I did get the email, and the plan is in work.  I think John had a great idea about Laz, but I'm not going to say anything.  (BTW, I noticed too that I had misspelled that Reed Switch, but may them have some that are visually activated with text on them.)  Since all the home projects are nearing completion, it is soon going to be time for vacation planning.

Laz - When do you ever find time for work?  Or are you doing the Pre Retirement Training?  I sure wish I could find a gig like yours.  Golf & Ol Mils, checking out Train Shops & Ol Mils, visiting former teacher & Ol Mils, BBQ & Ol Mils, running trains Ol Mils.  What a life, don't change or Milwaukee will probably become a ghost town.

Sir James - I am counting on you, to watch for my Big Boy, while it is there in Mich., my primary concern is that it make it back out here before the snow flies.  Sure hope it doesn't rust from all the humidity.

Jack - Regarding plans for the 4th, we typically stay pretty close to home, have a BBQ w/family, and mess around in the pool.  Previous years set on the roof watching for Bottle Rockets, at the time we had a Shake Shingle roof.  Talk about have kindling ready to burn it was, we not have a composition roof, which is a lot safer.  Fireworks are banned in the city limits, and very few cities permit them.  Usually we can see the fireworks from Disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm, so it usually is pretty good.

SPMAN, by any chance would that friend of yours with the elaborate train collection and layout be a former Disney employee.  If so there was a show I had seen about his location a few months ago.  It was truly awesome.

For all the MTH fans, especially John F, looks like DCS 4.02a is now available.  I didn't even 4.02 installed, and still trying to learn 4.01.  I can't even keep up with the documentation since 4.0, 3.1 didn't seem that bad in retrospect.

Havn't heard anything about the NC ground hogs, and other varmits.  Wondering why Chief was so fired anxious to find out how to great a group of Northerners?  Would it be because a couple of people moved in from OHIO?  Seems strange?  Sure hope he didn't fix them ground hog stew.

As far as the weather goes, it sure is hot!  Didn't go for our walk tonight, came home, and straight to the pool.  The water was 81 deg, heated directly by the sun, no solar blanket or nothing, and that is about 4,000 gallons.  Tomorrow morning (probably when some are reading this), I will be out in Chino Hills where the temperature was 115 today.  I will be working a OUTDOOR computer swap meet, in a HS parking lot.  The show starts at 6 am, and goes till about noon.  It'll take me about 45 min to get there, and will probably leave around 11, it will be just too hot!

Finally had to go to the dermatolgist yesterday, I think he used a whole bottle of nitrogen gas freezing these spots on my arms, face, and ears.  (Big Ears).  Then said I had the wrong complexion to live in this area, there is too much sun.  Never been told that before!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and I assume Doug is probably on his way back home, or will be soon.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 55 degrees. Going up to 82 today, with sunshine.

Well, today is the big tour for the OTTS. I'm getting ready to meet Buckeye, for the trip North. Packed some bologna sandwiches and have a full canteen of water. Should be a nice ride, on the buckboard, with the mule team. I'll take pictures of us, going up the Interstate.

Dining car was here early. Breakfast is done.

Y'all have a great Saturday. I know I will !!!

Morning.  Off to the lake to look at lot.  BTW: we have lots of Yankees in Rosyville.  NY chef and NY band person.  We even have one Mayor in Wake Co who is from CT.  Admitted he likes grits but still has not adapted to sweet ice tea.  All those Yankees wanting to be SOUTHERNERS and live here.  Funny thing is, once they move here, they don't go back.  HUMMM.  Tells me something.

More rain on for this PM.  Will go to Miss Edna's this afternoon and take the big bag of veggies.  Later
