Morning all from the middle of the great state of Ohio - where caravans of maize-and-blue colored RVs are still streaming past this motel. Boy, this town is sure in the middle of no-where: of course drivng most anywhere down two-lane country roads at midnight would give the same impression. Of course, I'm up at my regular time whlist everyone else is still abed. Whoops, the little one wants to go to breakfast. Then off to the college for the visit.  Great news, Brutus! Welcome back ole timer!

HI GYZ,

21 degrees here in MILLERSBURG, Pa. with 2 inches of snow on the ground.  Great day to go out PHEASANT HUNTIN with BRO.  Going out this afternoon at 130PM.  The farmers just cut all their corn and got a report that there are birds all over looking for cover?  Hope to get a few this afternoon for some good PHEASANT SOUP?  Anyway fire and brats and burgers tonite on outdoor fireplace, oh yeah OL MILs too.

Ran trains last nite on layout for 2 hrs, NO PILE UPs.  Ran my Lionel MOHAWKS and MTH Mikado, and NYC Lionel starter set 4-4-2 in conventional, still running great for a starter.  All ran great NO TROUBLES.  And watched my smallest layout the Lionel hobby stores 3 layouts very cool.

  Stay FROSTY,

Ole Timer - welcome back, I think I remember seeing you around here before?

Laz - I might zoom over tonight and grab a couple brats, want me to bring anything?

Thanks Doug - I think Kelly wants you to find her a Starbucks?  Wink

Well, my wife gave away some old artificial Christmas trees to a friend at work, so I need to dig those out of the basement mess before they show up to collect them.  Son wants to go buy a video game.  I need some drywall now that I have my truck back.  Other than that, no real plans for today!

Good Morning All

Just missed getting a divorce this morning. My wife wanted me to take her to lunch today: On Ohio/Michigan day,  she must need some kind of  medical attention. Had a nice phone chat with Brutus this morning, not about trains but electric cars. Unanswered questions, like what happens to all the old batteries? and how much for new ones? what about Edison lines if everybody comes home at five or six and plugs in the charger? What do you do if the batteries are to low to make a needed trip? It seems to me some people in gov. have not thought this thing through. I'm done. Sun is out but we started at 21 this morning and it looks like thirty will be it for  today.  Have a good one...S.J.

Good afternoon all, Well, I finally decided to put in an appearance at the Cal Stewart train meet in Pasadena, California today.  Spent most of two hours I was there talking to RAK who operates the MTH DCS demonstration layout.  He runs Lionel and TMCC as well.  Could not hang around the layout too long account can't take the trains smoke anymore.  Lots of layouts on display and static display of Toy Train streamliners from the past.  Boy Scouts were in attendance working on their collecting merit badge and were all taking part in building an operatilng layout for the show.  Made a quick pass through the trading hall.  Lots of sellers.  Looks like they sold all the tables.  Don't know how many buyers there were.  Only thing I took home was a new MTH catalog.  Lionel did not have any catalogs to hand out.  MTH, Lionel, Williams by Bachman, and Third Rail had reps on hand for the show and displays.  My appologies to Dbaker whom I told that I would not be there.  It was a last minute decision and I was only there about two hours.  The event was divided into two shows.  Cal Stewart in one building and "The Wonderful World of Trains" in another that was free to the public.   There were two nice S scale layouts operating there in addition to the O gauge stuff.  Admission to the trading hall at Cal Stewart required registration and an admission charge.  I did not need or was able to buy much at this meet or sell anything but I just wanted to put in an appearance so I could say I was there at least.  I don't think I have missed one of these meets since the early 70's  I did have another commitment today but was able to get away long enough to see the show for a couple of hours.  All you guys in snohio stay warm and happy Thanksgiving week to all.

Sounds like a nice meet, Ray. Back from our 25 hour, 662 mile whirlwind tour of Ohio.  Brutus, amazingly, there wasn't a Starbucks for at least 60 miles.  Gloriously though, a CSX two -track main line runs literally next to campus.  The daughter liked the place - it was smaller than I thought and the town is more rural and more 'struggling.' But the college was nice and they certainly had a family atmosphere: can you believe the college president's wife was getting out the Christmas decorations for the student center at 9 am on a Saturday morning all by herself.  Ole T, I certainly changed my avatar after my bride noted 'they took that picture of you back in 1998.'  Jack will appreciate I drove back through Gary and over the Skyway just to follow the NS main line into Chicago. US Steel smoking away. Lots and lots of stored GATX and CSS&SB gons and hoppers. Can't believe ND found a way to lose again.

Howdy guys - just took it easy all day.  Ran my son up to the store for a little while, so he could spend some money that was burning a hole in his pocket, but other than that we just hung out all day.  New CTT showed up in the mail and so did the switches I won the other day - man, that was fast!

Great game today, but rather close at the start of the game.

Doug....Tiffen, Ohio is a small town.  In terms of trains, look at a map and you will see Fostoria and Williard both historical and busy railroad towns.   All the main lines go across northern Ohio and then into Indiana.  The NS mainline follows US 6  and the CSX mainline is is about ten miles south.   The NS used to be the NYC, and it was considered a race track for trains.

BTW, Tiffen is a very safe small town.  If your daughter really likes going to college in the middle of nowhere, Ohio Northen is more remote and located in Ada, Ohio.  (Ada is where Wilson makes the NFL footballs.)  Ohio has several small colleges in small courthouse towns.  Why don't you cough up the money and look at Dennison or Kenyon?

ND will win when the door hits Charlie in the butt.

Good Evening all,

Got the El Camino wershed, and drove it up to the Cal Stewart meet.  Pretty much the same as last year, they did move the Mfgrs booths over to a building that had access to the public free.  That was good.  Saw a couple of guys from the club, seems things are about the same.  Major purchase was an old broken down searchlight car, for $5.  Going to clean it up and mount a wireless camera to it.  Needed a car with pickup roller, and relatively heavy.  This car should work great.  Bought some other misc. parts.  Did get BOTH Lionel and MTH catalogs.  Sorry Ray, they must have run out.  I don't know but I think this will be the last one I attend.  $30 to get in is too much.  AND, there is a couple of commercial shows that are less expensive, one in Del Mar in Dec., and same show in Anahiem in Jan..  Or, just having been to York has spoiled it for me for the local show.  And boy do those folks dislike MTH !!!!!  It is really scourned a lot, can't understand it.  They're only toys!

Finninshing up on the reindeer stuff, just in time.  It all goes up on the roof next weekend.  Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Later.....

Good evening all,

It was cold again in SE Indiana (really getting tired of this weather).  Did leaves for three hours today. Only two trees still have any on them and so I will wait now for rest to fall.  Probably last time I ever buy John Deere again as it continued to give me fits.  Got the old one out to finish the job.  May have Lucas do them when he is home for Thanksgiving.  Very tired.  Got some HO track for dad's Plasticville layout.  Went to see the high school show, "Night of January 16th".  Very very tired.  I had cinnamon rolls this morning.  Watched "Numb3rs" last night.  It was similar to the LA wreck, but had been filmed before the accident.  Even had a disclaimer and apology before the episode began.  Very classy.  Brutus, if it is not too late, pick me up in the Tardis.  It has been a long day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

HI GYZ,

Well went PHEASANT HUNTING in a just about blizzard today.  We had snow when we started til we finished.  About every 20 minutes it was a snowing big time.   Got to 30 degrees for a high.  We saw one bird get out of SWITCH GRASS I was walking about 50 yrds. ahead of where we were.  Went after him and couldn't get him up.  Went spotting deer afterwards and saw 4 nice buck with about 35 doe.  GOOD nite save for the snow.  Came home had fire with BURGERS and BRATs was waiting for BRUTUS and DA TARDIS to touchdown but because of snow probably couldn't see us?  Maybe tomorrow EL BRUTU?

Stay frosty,

A great day for the RED teams.

Will say the UNC-CH baskeball blew away a CA team last night.

Good Morning from Southern Ohio

Up early for work.  Got the new CTT, may slip it in the lunchbox to check out during lunch break.  Did see an American Flyer layout!

Fife – I’ve got the gon and a few pieces of track to mail out for the exchange all boxed up!

Laz – Too bad about the lousy weather, but always a good hunt.  I’m thinking about getting a crossbow.  I hunted deer with a compound for years and have not hunted for the past few years, and since that time have trashed my shoulder and both biceps.  Any recommendations?

DougM – I have a good friend who lives in Ada, so if you needed anything I’m sure he would help your daughter out.

Got to go, May God bless

Jim

Good morning all!  I'm up early because we're having our Thanksgiving potluck after services today, and my wife had to roll out at 4:00 AM to jam a 25 pound turkey into the oven.  Smells good, and I don't have to turn up the thermostat... i have my turkey to keep me warm!

It's 18 outside.  That's chilly for November.  But I got a new set of tires for the Jeep yesterday, and I guess I'm ready to hunker down and wait out Spring...

Morning all!

Back from visit with my Father.  Nice visit some work and some play.  Need to try to get him interested in computers.  My sister and BIL came in for a week as well.  We made Thanksgiving Dinner at his place... A bit early, but we have a lot to be thankful for.

Nice plane ride.  I sat next to a girl and a guy that were off to visit their GF/BF's for Thanksgiving.....by the end of the trip they exchanged digits.  LOL.

Looks like a lot of catching up...hey who won the game yesterday????  Whistling  Like I expected Michigan to win....Laugh

Morning all. Sunny and cold here - what's new with that - the middle boy is playing in a youth ministry band this morn so I'll drop in to see that during the services.  I noticed the Menards C&NW sets officially are on sale - $199 from 219 - in today's paper.  Kurt, anytime you have a nice flight these days it's a great thing. Jon, did you get any snow in VT yet?  Buckeye, appreciate the overview of Tiffen - and its rail lines Big Smile - especially too that it is safe. It looked nice after driving the downtown though the only spot open was the police station - LOL. Considering the place where my daughter was a year ago, I am very thankful she got into all five schools she applied for - and even got a seasonal job offer yesterday which is unheard of here this year.  (The advantage of these schools is they are all 'free' via scholarships and include room but not board - so I am happy) . Looking forward to CPI.

HI GYZ,

25 and cold here again, to get to 35?  Well ran trains last nite for 2 hrs., all good NO PILE UPs.  Then came upstairs and tried to watch the HISTORY Channels Extreme trains that I had taped and probably because of the warm house and a few OL MILs fell asleep half way through it.  Have to try to watch it again tonite?

Mornin' boys.  Hey, mornin' returning faces.  Sunny & a "crisp" 32 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Two things on my agenda: 1)work on my concrete viaduct, 2) eagles vs RAVENS.

My best friend and I took the gals out for dinner and a "show" last night.  We have a new Brazilian Style Steakhouse at the Inner Harbor, Fogo de Chao.  One of the best dining experiences ever.  Food-outstanding, service-impecable, atmosphere-lively.  It's about $50 a plate, but worth every hard earned cent. (4 paws up!)

...and for the "show", we exitted the restaurant in the middle of two roving, obscene battling bands of "dazzling urbanite" yutes, causing all kinds of mayhem in oncoming traffic.  Not one BPD unit in sight....ahhhh, say-la-vie...  Then the parking lot attendant (an obvious recent import) got into a "tink-el-ing" contest with a tow truck driver, which held things up for 10 minutes...

Glad you guys are getting geared up for the CPI.  May have to post a departure shot (headin' off to Cal-i-for-nI-A!) of my car next SPF.

Laz, if your interested I got a couple of neighborhood brats that would probably taste good after a few hours on the grill. Well the day is new and lots of time to find something to do. I have the new CTT to read so thats a start..TTFN,,,S.J.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, cold 20 degrees. Warming up to 45, today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do around the house and then, I will take it easy. I may make another try at the basement steps. Got down 4 of them, the other day and chickened out. Good thing we have carpeting on them with double padding. I have not fallen yet, and don't intend to. Got to stay positive.

Dining car was here for breakfast. Had the usual.

Y'all have a great Sunday.
