dbaker - THIRTY!?  Shock  Would be my last, too.

Buckeye - Just saw where your favorite "short"line dumped a train big-time in Kent.

Fife, The way I have it calculated, at $30/year, if I don't go I should be able to go to York in 2031.  Given airfare and hotel costs.  Better make it 2032, I may need to rent a scooter.

Belated good morning guys - got up earlier but watched a movie while the kids and I ate some biscuits.  Kurt - glad you are home and had a good visit with family.  Sir J - I thought you were having fun on the roof!  Laz, we were looking for you!  DB - $30 seems pretty high just to get into a show like that.  Doug, glad your daughter did so well and that sounds like a sweet deal!  Well, plans today are to go pick up a couple loads of drywall and putter about the house.  I think we are going out to eat with some family friends tonight, but I'm not sure.  Wife is going to the grocery store.  She put it off and put it off and now this is probably going to be a terrible day to do it.  Glad it's not me!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

DBaker, sorry I missed you yesterday.  AS I said previously, I did'nt think I was going but came at the last minute and only stayed a short time.  One thing I can say is that there was no shortage of sellers.  I agree, $30 is too much for most people's interest.  I have been spoiled by York too but I doubt If I will ever go there again either due to expense and health.  At least you got one thing (searchlight car).  All I got was a catalog.  Were you saying the people at York were Anti MTH or were you referring to the Cal Stewart meet?  I did talk to MTH Bob at their booth about a problem I'm having with my MTH SD45T-2 SP model.  The flashing headlights don't flash.  They just stay on all the time.  He had one on display and that's when I noticed that mine does'nt do that.  He said try a feature reset and a factory reset.  I did and neither one worked.  I'll have to get back to him on that.  When it was new, the shop I bought it from did some work on it regarding the lights after I first ran it.  Maybe something did'nt go back the right way.

Afternoon all.  BAck from down eat and taking Thanksgiving meal to Mom's.  Pam on the way to Youngest's for a few days.  I am on the way to the Sandhills area of NC [way down south past Pinehurst] to visit the home of my pilot buddy's neighbor.  The neighbor had a stroke 6 months ago and never made it home.  Died Wed.  He was a friend of mine too.  Then bgack tonight to leave early tomorrow AM for lake house with Frankie to do wiring.

Old Timer, before buying DD, check out Electric RR.  Their Cruise Commander Combo gives you TMCC, Railsounds and cruise.  Might be cheaper too.  Switched from DD to them.

Got to run.  Later.

 Howdy all,

We have a few inches of snow from way up north. The local rr brought out the plows and put them on hold for now. Other than fixing up a siding a 4-bay tore up when it left the rails thats about it for real train news.On the O gauge front nothing much to speak of just think about what things I may need or want for Christmas. School is going good except bio with all of that junk about evolution. It has been a while since I posted on this forum or any for that matter.

Ole Timer
  1. Chief  I need your expert MTH advice .... a fellow here has a 2-8-8-4 mth engine that had protosounds tender . The tender is complete history ... lost in a move . EDITED = Digital Dynamics makes just what I need .... complete kit to convert proto to railsounds .... now to find a tender ... LOL Will only need my one controller .... !

Before you do this you might want to do some checking with someone who has done it.  It is my understanding that the lamps and smoke unit in the MTH loco operate at a lower voltage than the TMCC will put out.  If this is the case you will need to do some modifications.

Hi guys - well, my son and I made a run up to Home Depot and got a load of drywall, then hung out and played Rock Band on the Wii for a while.  Chewy didn't like my singing, but the game said I did great, so I guess it was the music choice? WhistlingWink  Other than that, all I did was hang out with the family and watch movies and stuff.  Just a nice, relaxing day.

Good Evening

Well I piddled the day away. Watch tv and played golf the PS2 kind. Temp went to 32 I  think. slushy snow forecast for tomorrow PM. Oh I did forget to mention A weaver DT&I caboose I liked but was to cheap to buy, was bought by my train friend and given to me. So feeling guilty I gave him a Couple of new 6464 Pacemaker box cars. from around 1995. So all I can say now is get ready for Monday,  banilla is ready...S.J.

Good Evening Y'all!  Well, the whole family has been a tad under the weather this weekend.  Have not been on since Friday and it seems I have missed several pages of posts.  Hope everyone is doing well. Chief, I am sorry to hear of your friends passing.  Will pray for the peace and comfort of his family.

Finished laying track around the Christmas Tree.  Have to place the ceramic buildings, but will do so tomorrow.  I have a single loop that both straight aways pass behind the tree.  I am using a tunnel and a bridge to keep the wires from the tree off the tracks.

Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Ray, Not a problem!!! I know how those things go. My comment was regarding MTH at Cal Stewart, I sat in the auction for awhile, and their was a lot of comments that wasn't really appropriate.  But its their club so no big deal.  Then one of the guys from AGHR was working the MTH booth, and he commented to me how negative the attitude was towards MTH.  I was actually hoping some MTH stuff would have come up in the auction, but it didn't happen.

Regarding the ditch lights, I was advised that on my AC4000 that the UP download did not include flashing ditch lights.  (Allegedly didn't flash on SP).  So I'm going to down load another engine sound set to see if that resolves it.  Will advise as soon as I do it.

FINISHED the reindeer !!!  All ready to put up next weekend, IF it isn't raining!  Was up on the roof today, lots of ash all over, need the rain to wash everything down.

Doug M, that is really great news regarding your daughter!!  Congrats !!!!

Probably were appropriate.  I have not told everyone about Mike's trash switch the ohter night.  New 072.  Made a siding with an off/on switch to hold Lionel Big Boy in "storage".  Backed it in.  No problem.  Coming out, trashy switch point grabbed back traction tire and stopped engine.  Could not go forward nor reverse.  Had to get it out by hand and that trashy switch point cut the traction tire completely into. Back from Edgecombe Co [down east] and then back from Sandhills area [below the famous Pinehurst].  Tired fo driving.  Now up early tomorrow AM to drive to lake house to do wiring with Frankie.

Mike, welcome back.  Glad to see some of the "old crew" dropping back in.

Going to say good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  BTW: Burg and I are batching it for the next few days.  Pam and Lucy are at Youngest's.  Cart [Grandson] love waling Lucy on her leash [Daddy will not let him have a pup].

Reading most recent posts. Congrats to chief for becoming Mayor.

On the MTH flashing lights. I'm just intrigued that sets have them. So much more to realism. my most sophisticated set is a Williams steam passenger Pennsy set with proto sounds.

About finished wifes office space and sons music room, (we have been doing recording projects in there); and then its back to building a new layout. I'm planning an "O" gauge outer line on the back wall area with return loops at each end. Two HO lines on the inside area. One for my EMD UP passenger line, (I've had since I was about 16). Rode this line as a 13 yr. old on a US tour with my grandfather. Not sure yet for the second HO line. The HO Big Boy I'm thinking wall mounted with the electric signal type reverse kit I bought several yrs ago.

best to all!    cooltechCool

I'm back from woods.  Deer are in the freezer.  Time to move on to trains and turkey.  Going to get some sleep then back to the grind tomorrow.

Here's a couple shots from the beginning of the Christmas layout my family and I got a head start on today.

Evenin' All,

Just a quick drop in & drop out, just had to post this link for the "coffee pot crew".

http://www.castlemountains.net/flashmar/A_Cup_Of_Joy.swf

Job done, now I gotta get back to work. Tree is up so need to clean up all the stuff that decorations came in. Can't believe the "Better Half" talked me into putting the stuff up BEFORE Thanksgiving. Sigh

Morning all!

Brutus:  Sorry I missed yuz.  I was out by 9:00pm.  Bride said you stopped...4-yo thought you were Santa...Must have been quite a ruckus.

Came home and Bride made me do final yard cleaning...finally have leaves up and perinneals cut back.

WIll add some Lionel trucks to the Atlas CPI-car today...working up a list to get some scenery on the main layout.  Not sure, but may try to get the Christmas layout up before MiL and StepFiL arrive Tuesday.

Bride and Children managed to keep house in one piece while I was out.

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE with Snohiozone in the forecast.  Yuck!  At least I did not have to drive today.  Moved furniture and took the standard gauge trains down from the attic yesterday.  Wife and I went to family get together on her side of the family.  Food was good and lots of it.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

 Morning to All,

Busy weekend.  Went to Mom & Dad's Saturday.  Dad was under the weather with a fever and slept most of the day.  Sunday we went to Northern VA to meet up with son and see nieces perform in Nutcracker.  Drove home after show and had dinner at Cracker Barrel, good chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans.

Kids are off school so I am taking two days off. Today the Mrs. and I are heading to Atlantic City for a few days and then to Mom & Dad's on Wednesday night.  Thanksgiving with family at my sister's house Thursday.

Will try to keep up while I am gone.

Morning all. Snowing here or raining / sleeting. Shouldn't be much though. The Bears looked decent beating up on what might be arguably the worst team in the NFL, Laz. But only 6-5 though and still in first place. I read your post quickly and thought you said you hit a doe with a snowball from half-a mile away... nice shot.  Welcome Mike!  I could say something cheesy along the line of  that old Wendy's commercial about 'where's the Beef' but apparently RMT plans on these in early 09 - missing the holiday season.
Wow, Chief, you're bach'ing it and up posting at 5:41 am - I'm impressed. Nice ride, Brutus.  My daughter starts her new job Wed. - I am laughing as it is at a high-end clothier that of course wants her to buy and show off the clothes. So this job is costing me money...
