Buckeye, I assume your report #2 was done with the same tongue in cheek approach as #1.  How else could you travel from Ohio to York and stay 2 nights all for $150 unless you were already there and slept in your car?  Anyway, thanks for the report.

 Hi guys,

I’ve been at York on Thursday and Friday and went over today to be a part of the forum picture, which I imagine Brent will be posting soon.  Tired, when I got home today, I mowed the lawn.  I think I walked 100 miles this week.

Still learning new things about the forum format.  Hope I get to felling comfortable with it soon.  I picked up an MTH Pennsylvania H-10 Consolidation.  It is a premier engine and very nice, slightly used as it had 90 miles on the odometer when I fired it up.  Every thing works, looks good and the price was right.  Also picked up a Lionel 2560 prewar crane car, no special reason just liked the looks of it.  And a few tools for use on trains and dollhouses.

Brutus:  I'm in too!  Bearing cookies!

As if painting the house wasn't enough...I was roped into painting pumpkin cookies with the little ones.  Turned out to be a great time!

Nope, they are practically giving gas away nowadays...I only wish!  Gas is much cheaper in Ohio though.  $2,51/gal in Columbus.

That $150 was including all gas and tolls.  It made more money for trains.

Food isn't more important than trains until you decide you are hungry, or want to hear some great stories from train guys, then it becomes more important.  Maybe not more important than trains though.  Depends who you ask.

Nope....Here is the breakdown of the costs.

Ohio Candy for Roy, Fife and Susieq and Special Gift for John.........$ 17.80

Tolls ............$18.50

Lodging (2 nights).........$ 126.00

Fuel.........$98.41  .

---------------------------------

Total $ 260.71

divide by two

$ 130.35 ea < $ 150.00...............That's the story, and I'm sticking to it.

YES, GRITS AND MORE GRITS.

Went to Edna's and she was closed.  Knew she closed for spring York but forgot she closed for fall.  Went to her house next door and gave her the peppers.  We talked about fishing and I came home and cleaned, cloroxed and prepared greenhouse.  Ready for plants if it turns cold.  Then went to DWI Checkpoint briefing and walked home.  Serveral PD's, Sheriff's Deputies, Probation and Parole Officers and SHP are working it at the main intersection of Main Streets and East and West Young Streets.  Traffic backed past my house as this is State Fair week and all folks north are trying to get home.  Lock'em up.  Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let bed bugs bite.

Good evening all,

IIASBSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  I did some housework and washed two of the vehicles today.  Also cleaned up the leavings of a late night "visit" from "my" soccer girls as some TP, some "confetti" (cut up newspapers) and some blue streamers were left in our trees.  Watched tape of last week's F-1 race.  Went to Ponderosa for supper.  Very good.  I had the usual fare on the dining car. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Wife finally got home, brought dinner, watched a movie, and vetoed the light fixture I bought for the laundry room.  Guess I'll use this one in the workshop - 4 bulb flourescent bulb anyway, so it will be useful anyway.  Perfect ending to the project.  Apparently the only thing I did right today was fix the knob on the laundryroom door Confused

Ate good.  Most expensive meal for me was $12.20 on Thursday night.  Remember, my orginal post said, "Our travel and two nights lodging was less that $150 which meant we had money to buy trains."  The $130.35 did not include food.  I would guess I spent around $55-60 for food.

BTW, the posters without a photo look real strange.

LOL!

I thought they looked a little thin and from all reports Buckeye may have to sell the Dussi to pay for all his purchases... of course if they didn't eat for two days that could explain things as well.

I haven't looked at the pictures yet to see if there is one I like. When I got home today I had to mow the jungle... forest... lawn then I parked my rumpus on the couch to watch PSU lay the SMACKDOWN on the Skunkbears. Then I had to load my carcass in the car and go to the grocery store and FiLs with SusieQ... Just got home...

Did pretty good at York today... the economy should be picking up soon with all the purchases...

The Wicked Witch Sleeping Beauty is paging so I guess I should venture off to z-land.

Welcome to the forum forgot to welcome you last night but thats easy with my state of mind lately. Not to much else happening today got a neat train set in as stated earlier but have to do some work on it as it appears that it got some moisture to it as it has some light rust here and there. Box was in rough shape at least the Styraphoam part of it the cardboard cover was fair shape I guess you would say.

HI GYZ,

Its 31 and cold frosty here this morning to get to 57.  Gotta clean out pond today and close down for the winter.  Thats means freezing my hands off today shoulda closed it last weekend.  Oh well at least I have neopreme waders.

YORK was again fantastic.  Wife and I started out at 645AM got to YORK and ate at DENNYs.  Each had a ribsticking sizzler meal which really is a grand slam on a hot skillet.  GOOD!  Headed to YORK had to wait at doors of ORANGE hall for 15 minutes.  Then walked through Orange hall, was great not mamy people at all.  LOVED to new look of the LIONEL Booth.  WOW! lots o stuff going on and the really cool parts of it were the EL TRAIN.  Lionel had a guy make up a nice size dog bone for the L to run on looked GREAT.  Also he had done a MT. scene as well.  I had met the guy through ROYs friend and booth of us stated his work was marvolous.  He is in negociations with Lionel to see if this would be something to market?  But time will tell.  Also Lionel had the TEXAS SPECIAL running above your head just about the whole perimeter of there booth, REAL COOL, looked like a GIANT HELLGATE bridge.

Met all DA GYZ at 12 o'clock for the PICTURE.  Spoke with KENT for a while on his layout as well with the rest o the GYZ.  ROY turned me on to the NICLOLAS SMITH booth where we found NYC milk cars for $30 each.  I am running the 3 I bought in front of the passenger set ala JELECTRIC.  John has them running like that when we met BUCKEYE in JUNE and really liked the look, so big THANK YOU, JOHN and ROY.  Also purchased a MTH COLUMBIA BEER car and a MTH MICADO.  Ran all this stufff last nite for 3 hrs.  OH yea NO PILE UPS all ran great.  BUMPEd into BRENT and seems like CHARLES RO had him in some kinda arm bar to buy some stuff.  I didn't want to get involved so I kept walkingWink.

BUCKEYE and WES glad YUZ GYZ had fun but wait till next time and maybe have the whole gang together save for DA CHIEF or oh no FIFE will bring him and we'll all make fun of GRITs and TEAWink.

BRUTUS,  I thought DA TARDIS was going to YORK?  Was waiting for a splash down.

ALL have agood one, and hope DA RAYs can win tonite?  Seems like deja vu all over again?

Thanks Laz for your report on York, I was thinking all week about our trip two years ago, one of the best vacations we have been on, seriously.  Our trips out east, except for D.C., had been non existent until the York trip.  We really enjoyed Gettysburg and the 1 1/2 days at the meet.  Our plan is to wait possibly two more years and then make the journey again, by that time I will be retired again.  Period.  I really enjoy traveling in Sept./Oct., best time of the year........ sadly we all know what happens after Oct. Sigh

GOOD MORNING ALL

I just spent some time talking to Brutus on the phone, always a pleasent visit. Got up this AM and 32 degrees. Sun is shining hope it warms up.  Got the new MTH 2009 catalog sitting here next to me, much is the same yet I see two engines I am not sure if they ever did before. One is a AA16 diesel that looks like an F unit with a front nose on both ends. The other is electric that could be  foriegn, ALP-46. The Camelbacks have returned and the rest looks routine. Enjoy your Sunday......S.J.

Morning all.  Found some REB gray.  Back from SS and now putting plants in greenhouuse.  Suppose to be chilly tonight but no frost.  Doing it the plant thing to be ahead of the game.  Then off to the lake to check on things and take some thing up.  Later.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  And, mornin' Newbies--->Sign - Welcome.

Had to work (0400 wake-up) the Susan Komen run this AM, and just got home a little while ago.  Will be listening to the RAVENS game while painting trimwork this afternoon.

Had good time at YORK, although a little "surreal" being there on a Saturday.  You can really zip thru the halls, but still under the gun as folks wanna "dee-dee" out of there after 3 days.  Picked up a couple freight cars, and an "AmShack" (Thanks again, B).  Nice chat with the CTT staff, and the first thing out of Roger's lips was, "Where's that next article...?"Wink  Will be "intersting" group pic.(Hint- I'm the good-lookin' chap in the hat)

Left at 2, then headed North to Harrisburg Tower for some railfanning.  Caught a half dozen trains then ate at Dukes Dinner.

88 - ...as for the ATLAS WM GP35.  Let's just say it wasn't up to the task...Sad  MTH has a GP35 in the works, so I'll just need to be patient.

Kurt

Some give them out Kurt all depends what/who comes to the door. Whistling

Coke set had a bit of light rust on bottom of cars, caboose needed a set of rear trucks one car needs a wheel set and the rear of the engine rail was medium rust all over it but took my rechargeable dremmal with wire wheel and knocked off all the rust and now don't believe I'll paint engine frame like I thought I would at first. in fact have re-solder all wires back and put engine back together again already unless it starts up again and gets bad I think I'll leave it the way it is anyway as its hard to match that bluing that they do to the metal frames sometimes. The coke set was a cheap set Lionel put out in 1973 and I was told that they got in trouble with Coke as didn't have there permission to use there name so they had to sell the sets at there cost. I remember it being in the paper ( I grew up in West chester, Pa.) and at that time It seems Niclealsmiths was in Wilmington, DE. and I went there and got the train set for like $20.00 it was suppose to been a misprint ( they claimed that to cover the real story up)
