Afternoon all. Rainy and cool today - ruining all the leaves. Hope your neck feels better, Brutus. I am off  today with my mom still visiting. No pumpkin farm today with the rain. Maybe going to visit 'model homes' later... I have one of those rotating beacons. It has to be absolutely level too for the spinner to work with the heat from the bulb. That's usually my issue.

Good morning all, wife had asthma attack yesterday at church.  Had to go to emergency room but she was released after three hours.  She is doing fine today.  We had a birthday cake and presents for my 11 year old grandson last night.  Thinking about Cal Stewart meet in Pasadena next month.  It's the biggest show out here but nothing like York.  Read about MTH coming out with new add on set for 19th century passenger cars.  I have the first three in the NYC&HRR markings.  I'm hoping someone will post a picture of the new cars.  The new MTH catalog is on line now but it takes all day to down load with dial up.  Have a good week y'all. Buckeye, I assume your report #2 was done with the same tongue in cheek approach as #1.  How else could you travel from Ohio to York and stay 2 nights all for $150 unless you were already there and slept in your car?  Anyway, thanks for the report.

Nope....Here is the breakdown of the costs.

Ohio Candy for Roy, Fife and Susieq and Special Gift for John.........$ 17.80

Tolls ............$18.50

Lodging (2 nights).........$ 126.00

Fuel.........$98.41  .

---------------------------------

Total $ 260.71

divide by two

$ 130.35 ea < $ 150.00...............That's the story, and I'm sticking to it.

Buckeye, did'nt realize you were dividing by two.  That makes sense.  Ray

Just be thankful he isn't using Chief's fuzzy math... then he could just make up a number and if it doesn't stick he comes up with a convoluted explanation that no one (including himself) understands...

------
One of these days I'll get back down in the trainroom... one of these days.

Put up 17 qts and 6 pts of tomatoe sauce on Sunday. Not bad, $18.00 for 50lbs of tomatoes and that was the sauce yield. Hopefully we don't need to buy any tomatoe sauce this year... if we do I told Susan to keep track so we know how many tomatoe plants to plant next Summer (we use most of our sauce during the Winter so that will be a good gauge).

Started mapping out the garden for next year too... Have to cut down 4 trees to make room for it. No biggie because they were 4 of the 7 that need to come out, as they are too close to the house and will give us a much larger back yard... want to get them cut down in the next month so I can start working the soil in prep for spreading seed in early May.

Hope to get the York pic posted either tonight or tomorrow... only one I have is the one that was taken on Saturday.

Glad to hear the wife is doing well, those attacks can be scary.  My grandfather had asthma pretty bad and I can remember some of his episodes.

I already ordered the 3-car add on for Pennsy.  The cars are a baggage, combine and observation.  I have the original 3-car set and the single car add on from the original offering.  I don't see NYC & HRR listed.  There is NYC and NY & NE listed.  These are the 64' woodsided cars.  I have the catalog, but the pictures are really small.  When I went to the site, it says picuture temporarily unavailable.

Good afternoon for beautiful Southern Ohio

Got off this morning and had a pretty good frost to scrape off.  Came home took a four hour nap to knock the edge off and still be able to sleep tonight like a regular person.  Got up had a meeting with our pastor, did some laundry cut grass and now working on homework for this Saturdays class and finals.  Hard to believe this will is the last class after four years of study.  Finals and projects to turn in and then some formation hours then Ordination.  Anyone interested in coming to Ordination?  If so it will be 11/29/08 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Columbus.

MitchRR – Go easy when bending the fins as they break easily.  Repros are available but I don’t think they look as good or operate as well.

Dennis – You are correct about the focus being off when teaching the kids about birth control.  Abstenence is 100% effective and has positive side effects!  Did you ever hear of “Theology of the Body” by Christopher West?  It is totally on point.

Wes – have you tried to change up your workouts?  When I was into powerlifting and on a plateau I would change up the workout and it would break the plateau.

SPMan – prayers for the wife.  Daughter has asthma and they can really make you feel helpless as they struggle to breathe.

Just found out my good friend who introduced me to American Flyer Toy trains fell and broke his hip.  He is 83 but in generally good health. Going to run down to the hospital to see him.

May God bless

Jim

Jim, Congrats on Ordination.  I'm a bit far for that, but my thoughts will be with you.
SP, sorry about the wife.  My bride has asthma, but has had little trouble, except when we go into a house with the smell of cat pee!  Very rarely will she start wheezing.  One reason I don't need the heavy smoke output on the steamers.

Well, it seems Human Resources does not have a clue.  The guy we told them to make an offer to has some questions regarding pension, etc.  The HR rep was clueless.  I will have to try to track down people in the know and get all this together.  This is very frustrating, having to do someone else's job while still having your own to deal with, never mind other distractions.

On a train note, I took delivery of a bunch of Artista figures I won for $9.00.  They are small, so I'll need plenty of them for the layout.  On another train note, am watching a DVR from today on the Ohio Central's 4-8-4 #6325.  Neat locomotive.

God Bless,

Dennis

Man another month just about gone. I was looking at the calender last night and realized I have a 5 year anniversary coming up this Sat ( if you notice I said I do not we or anything like that) . I use to smoke about 3 packs of cigarettes a day sometimes more well Saturday will be 5 years ago that I quit. BowAngel

Every time I think about it it just makes me that more happier. I basically have to thank my ex boss (from VA.) his son and daughter-in-law for getting me to quit the use to give me little subtle hints about it.

Well time to shower and bed as 5am comes early in these parts Whistling

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....

Another beautiful day in Ohio. 62 degrees and sunny. It's gonna be cold tonite. Last 2 nights we had frost.

Not much new on the homefront. Leg is slowly getting stronger. I walked for awhile w/o the walker. Felt good. Muscles are still stiff. Need more exercise.

Still have not made it down to the train room. I WILL do this by the end of the week.

Dining car was here for breakfast and headed out to " Points West".

I hope y'all had a great Monday.

Don - happy anniversary to you, I cleaned up the banilla and we have some of your favorite treats ready for tonight.

RT - Congrats on  years of clean air.  That's a tough one, I know.  I only smoked a couple years when I was young and regret it a lot.

Beacon is on, banilla is ready. It might have been one of those fast stops that spilled the banilla. Otherwise I cannot tell a lie: Brutus did it. The WC said 60 today but it sure did not feel that warm, our luck has run out.

Kurt- After GV is OK with me but I  can't leave untill WBs is packed and loaded. So we are looking at 4:45 getting home for me. Ok someone lite the fuse...S.J.

Evening all!

Jim:  Congratulations!

Don:  Happy Anniversary!  Sorry about the dinner....If I had known you were in Ann Arbor, I would have taken you to a place with adult waitstaff.  Between the staff, and saying 'I could have made this at home' are our two biggest complaints here.

Dennis:  I saw the end of the Ohio Central, and all of the Grand Trunk video following.  Do you know the name of the Grand Trunk Video?  I think that one was a keeper.

Sir James:  Sounds like a long day....Should we shoot for November 8 to run trains?  That way I can space being away out a bit, as the in-laws invited themselves over for Thanksgiving.

Brutus:  Hope you're feeling better...Beacon is on!  Hope the HD is working for football tonight!

Well, finally home.  Nice steak and etc. but late return.  Sat from 2 PM until 5:25 PM before I was called to do my endorsement.  Listen to all the reasons why one hospital should get the OK from State Regulators and why the others should not.  Tiring.  Then had to listen to BS about mass transit that is for Raleigh only.  Blasted them on that one.   Train from nowhere to downtown.  Should cover all the outlaying towns.  Not going to.  Stays inside Raleigh's City limits.  Now to rest.

Jim: congrats

Buckeye: you need to inform those who do not know about that train company with poor cars they are selling [not a major manufacturer].

Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite Zzz [or Lucy sick her cold wet nose on your cheak Shock ].

PS: Almost forgot.  Shake and Bake went home sick [so he told the wifey].  Been trying to call him and all I get is busy busy.  Got phone off the hook so no one can hear the trains running in the background.

Phish - That is really a great accomplishment!! Congratulation !!!

Came home early, head all plugged up, hard tome breathing.  Stay down tomorrow.

Morning to All,

Put on a fresh pot.  Nice day yesterday around these parts.  Today is to be more of the same.

Ran trains last night for a while. Several minor pileups, some operator error and some equipment problems due to poor track maintenance and age of equipment.  Been thinking about ripping up current layout and starting over with Fastrack, problem is right now I have about  7 switches and new switches would be more $$$ than I want to spend. I may start sketching up some new designs with fewer switches.

Have a great day.

Hi GIZ,

38 and cool here again, to get to 60.  Got all the netting over the ponds last nite, so they're DONE.  Gave the spider man, guy who exterminates spiders, about 30 gold fish.  Ran trains and had a toast of OL MIL to my DAD.  Yesterday was the 10th anniversery of his death.  Miss him everyday.  Oh well, NO PILE UPs though so it was another great nite.

RT, BIG CONGA on the butts.  Now gotta start jogging?

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 50s.  Cleaned the gutters out last night and got trash together.  Did some Second Life and some eBaying.  I had to smooth out the alley last night after some ungrateful idiot decided to gun their tires and make a mess of it.  We just had new gravel laid there last week.  We are the only ones who maintain it and yet everybody else wants to tear it up as soon as we fix it.  The day started off badly as my car pool person called to say they were taking a sick day today.  It was their turn to drive.  On top of that, the wife had the ringer turned off on the phone, and I would not have gotten the message if the answering machine had not beeped.  Not a good day and it is not even 8:00 AM.  I had the usual fare on the dining car.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

PS  Brutus, I'll leave the beacon on for the Tardis tonight.  Some zuchinni bread will taste good with the banilla.

Mornin' Fellas.

Quick post before diving back into ASP.Net code.

SusieQ's Solara has a bad O2 sensor and now the traction control is acting up. She read online that the O2 sensor can cause problems with the traction control, seems odd but plausible. So she bought a new O2 sensor and when our mechanic went to install it the connector didn't match up... Banged Head so back to the parts store to hopefully get the right part. The A/C isn't working in her car now either... hopefully she gets her yearly bonus so she can unload this car and get something more reliable.

Still no trainroom action for me. Have to get a new shower control valve installed in the master bathroom, then patch the wall, and paint... then I'll have time for trains. Hope to get all this done this week so I have Saturday for the trainroom. Also need to start designing the new Christmas layout and start construction on that so it is ready for Thanksgiving weekend.

Mitch - One nice thing about FasTrack is it holds together really tight. You don't need to screw it in place unless you really want to, therefore you could buy the switches in increments and replace straights as you acquire the switches. Then when you are completely done with the layout you can secure it in place. I've got some FasTrack from sets and expansion packs that I'm not using, if you do redo the layout let me know - I could make a donation to the cause. Wink

Fife - I haven't ventured down the conversation road about the SD35 with SusieQ... will keep you and Tom posted.

Morning all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Clear and cool and a chance of rain later.

RT-Congrats on kicking the cigs.

Busy day ahead, hair cut, dentist teeth cleaning, study.  I hope I don’t get the first two mixed up and get my hair cleaned and my teeth cut.  It is the day after nightshift and I get mixed up easily.

Turns out my friend broke his leg not his hip, but will be down for 6 to 8 weeks.  I was scared.  He is the primary caregiver to his wife who has several health issues.  He fell trying to catch her from falling and she fell on top of him which broke his leg.

Bride’s laptop is broke.  It is a gateway M520 and the on off button will not work.  I found a site to show disassembly and get it apart but could not see physical damage to the button so going to find a replacement button.  The piece has been a tank.  First issue in five years.  Only issue is bride not able to access files.  This re-enforced what I tell her about keeping files on a separate media instead of on the hard drive.

Got to run

May God bless

Jim

GOOD MORNING ALL

Sun is out now but at 8 this morning it was 41, but man it sure looked like a snow day. gray and windy, leaves everywhere. I'm not sure about today yet, I could run some trains or maybe just play PS2 golf. I had planned to do some grocery shopping but wife wants to go with me tomorrow. That means extra grocery money for things she finds. I just shop from the list and add sale items. Tardis ride was good last nite looks like Brutus let Chewy lap up the sticky banilla.   Enjoy your day....S.J.

Morning all.  On the run.  Keep getting interrupted by phone calls.  Got an 11:30 lunch with developer from Seattle WA [flying in].  Then ride around with him [actually he will ride in the 4 Runner].  Town Board meeting tonight and his presentation.  Wanted to go to the lake but have to baby sit the dogs [mainly Lucy].  She goes crazy when I shoot a squirrel.  Once I put it in the back of truck to carry away, she runs all  over the yard with nose down looking for it.  Two dropped in the past two days.  Airrifle working good.  Go to go.  Have a good one.
