Been a busy night here tonight.   No coffee left the place is a mess!  Tardis tracks all over must have been crowded.  No problem I'll get it all cleaned up.

Charlie  - Welcome to the pot, Don't let everyone scare you away, we need some sane folks around here!

Greg M - Dont give up, it will come through when you least expect.  Best of luck.

Jack - Sounds like you had a great time today, at least you kept your powder dry.

Wes and Buckeye - Sounds like a good time, did you have to drive the scooter home, or did Buckeye let you ride inside?  One thing is for certain, I'm sure you deffinetly have a different perspective of the "train collector stereo-type" with the scooter point of view.  Maybe your lucky you only had 1 day.  Do those scooters come with air freshners as standard equipment?

Got home and the local community newspaper was in the driveway, so had a glass of wine and read it.  REALLY depressing!!!  City is trying to force residents to replace a block wall surrounding various sub-divisions.  And then making each homeowner pay for the allocated portion they have, AT $250 to $350 PER FOOT.  City will provide financing, or if you refuse will place a lein on your house.

Then read the legal notices, 19 for foreclosures, and this is just one WEEK.  Two or three had also indicated bankruptcy.  All of them showed a "recording" date of the current mortgage in either 2005 or 2006.  Really sad!!  Some just had major remodeling done, obviously must have taken out a second or refinanced and pulled the equity, then now they loose the house.  We just gotta learn Credit can be a BIG Trap!!!

Ended up playing with trains for about 3 yours, just switching stuff around, and learning more tricks I can do on the layout.  Had a great time.

Glad to see everyone had a good time at York, do have to admit the picture was somewhat small.

Got to be at work at 6:00am, so hope everyone has a good weekend!  Will probably be painting reindeer here.

Morning Don and All you guys.

This is my first post on the new forum [if it gets through?] from a bright, sunny Stockport.

Had some fun and games getting sorted, but thanks to you Don I think I have cracked it.

A bit too early to comment on the new format. The blasted thing still has that irritating habit of double spacing the script [I like to set my own].

Have a good weekend chaps.

Good Morning Folks,

I have been busy over the last few days while the upgrade was taking place.  Can you tell me where to find the information on how to change the font size and get color into posts?  I can tell by skimming through posts that people have figured it out, but so far I am at a loss.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don - Those tables really aren't set up for wheelchairs.  Isles aren't wide enough to not get in the way of others, and the tables are too high, although they are a standard table height.  I think it's as good as anyone could set up though.  CTT let me park the chair in their booth so I could just use my crutches as much as I wanted.  Thanks CTT!

The chair wasn't spotless...nothing a wipedown wouldn't fix, and I didn't smell anything.  It needed a luggage rack though.

On me it took like 3 or 4 log ins or about 2 days after they changed host till it showed up it is in the upper left corner when you are writing in a post box. accually the first few days just the one line showed up then the other all of a sudden showed up above it. not sure if it always was there and I was blind ( I think not) or they added itafter a day or two.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 42 degrees. Cloudy. Maybe sunshine later and 60 degrees. We are suppose to get a heavy frost tonite.

Today is less busy. I would love to run trains. I think I can get down the steps, but not sure if I can get back up them. Wife said she would throw down food to me.  I could sleep in the train room. Hmmmmmmm......

Well, Dining car was here and is headed to " Points West" Buckeye will clean it out.

Speaking of Buckeye and Wes.......You guys need to post pictures of all the trains stuff you got at York.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

GOOD MORNING ALL

We have sun this morning, but 40s,I'm afraid I cannot slow the calender down, sigh. Good Tardis ride last nite, I hope Don gets the mess cleaned up. Oh by the way, trains ran good last  nite for Charlie, one little mistake on my part, flipped a toggle while talking and that fired up the wrong track but quickly corrected. Pretty good since trouble always comes along when  you are trying to show the trains. Breakfast smells good so I am going to follow that bacon scent. have a good Saturday....S.J.

Good Morning all!  Both kids are now taking the Chinese lessons, so the momma and I have had a few hours without the crumbsnatchers.  Busy day, while I am still on call, we have a few errands to get done, then clip some "trees" for the layout and work on a little wiring.  Also, have to go to Michael's and get some accessories for the buildings (fences, walls, etc.).  Also have a auction to attend for the kids school.  We have them in private christian school and you find out quickly that it is a whole lot more expensive then the tuition would suggest.

I think I have found a way to make the crossing signals that they sell at Michael's work on the layout.  If all goes well, it will look real nice to have them.  Plan to have an isolated track section complete the circuit from the battery box to the rest of the set up.  If you have ever looked at these, they have a bunch of tiny wires from the signals to the box.  Figure I will leave those alone and just work on the actual battery box.  Also, I have to look at the power needs of the system, I may be able to run it off a buss bar.

All this thinking is giving me a brain cramp.  Hope everyone has a great day.  For those at York, our national economy depends on your spending lots of money.

God Bless,

Dennis

Good morning Coffee Potters! 46 degrees F here in St. Louis, but the sun is shining.  I'm going to Lowes or Home Depot in a little bit to pick up some goodies for the house (couple light fixtures and some drywall).  Can't wait to get my A5 switcher!

Kurt,

He told me to use nine also, but i used as many that would fit comfortably.  Jeff got nine from the 622 switcher diagram in the service manual. Isn't it fun to put the balls in each bearing?  I don't know how many times I had to search the kitchen floor for those.  I really like these 671M motors.  They are much smoother than the later 681-100 motor.

I didn't have any trouble with the bearings.  I use a white terry cloth towel to work on.  It keeps the engines from getting scratched.  I can see all the bearings, and they don't roll.  I did count them all out and put them in a bit of grease to keep them steady, and keep count.  I ended up using pointed tweezers to install them.

I had more trouble getting the shell on.  Lining up the screw for the horn box, and the power trucks, with everything connected was a bit challenging.  Now onto some lettering, and stripes (maybe).

I'm very happy with this engine!  Very smooth performance.  It doesn't really like the O-31 turns, but it makes them.

THE BUCKEYE YORK REPORT.

I have decided to prepare multiple York Reports in hopes of keeping everyone happy.

Report #1 - For those who haven't been to York, and in the past put the bad mouth on it this is your report.

What a dreadful place, York.  The food is awful and very expensive.  The restrooms are crowded and there are so many people.  If you love Bippus, Indiana this is not the place for you!!!  We couldn't find anyone giving away Southern Pacific #4100 AC-4 Cab Forwards so it was obvious everything was over priced and only new stuff was available. There was nothing for us purists.  The members' halls all smelled like a sewage plant and no one was very friendly.  We had to wait in long lines to buy a bottle of over priced water.

Report #2 - For those who haven't been to York, but would like to go someday in the near future.

What a great place, York!!  If you love trains, you gotta make the trip.  Twenty five thousand people who love trains can't be wrong. We saw every type of engine, train, accessory imaginable.  We saw new, used and well used.  The member halls are like a museum of toy trains. Everyone was friendly, but late in the day everyone in tired. The prices are the lowest we have ever seen for new trains of all types.  There are some great deals.  Most of all it is an educational experience.  We learned so much about so many things.  New ideas are around every corner. You will see train things you have never seen before. Our travel and two nights lodging was less that $150 which meant we had money to buy trains. Looking forward to the next time I can head east to York.

I want to thank John and Roy for being our TCA member hosts.  They made sure we had a great York experience by guiding us to the highlights of the show.  Thank you guys, it was appreciated. Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up

Susieq was given her candy and flowers as I promised, but we think Brent by now has eaten all her candy. It was great to meet Brent and Fife da Dog for supper on Thursday night.  Great CTT forum members!!

One last thing, we need to make sure the Chief does not attend YORK.  He would incessantly talk about it for years and years and we would not hear another word about grits and sweet tea.

Thanks for the York-update, Buckeye!

Picked up a new light fixture and bulbs for the laundry room, some toggle bolts, a new doorknob for the laundry room, and 4 sheets of drywall.  Kid at HD helped me load and when I got home, the bottom piece was cracked right on his side, so he didn't do a very good job. Banged Head  Oh well, I'll have to pick up a couple more pieces tomorrow morning I guess.  I figured I needed 5 pieces (whole).  The broken sheet will be used, but it would have been better as a whole piece.

Also picked up a relay, some connectors and wire at Radioshack for an experiment I have had in mind for a trolley route. The trolley will move through a sort of Y shaped run and the switches will have some logic using the anti-derailing features.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well made it through the g.kids birthday party, I kind of hid in the other room and watched the Buckeyes beat  Mich. State, many kids, lots of noise. My wife is watching her Red Wings, so here I am.
