DougM......did a search on the 2016 Olympics following your post.  Found the Chicago scoop re 2016.

It appears so many of the scheduled Olympic events are already covered by existing infrastructure and venues.  Flexibility (space, location) to backfill the rest without breaking the already broken bank.  While I realize that the IOC selection committee has an agenda all its own, Chicago on a relative basis looks like a serious contender, not a paper tiger.  And it has so much to offer outside of the Olympic games for visitors from elsewhere.

Wonder what the convention business is going to do when McCormack Place is otherwise occupied for the games.  What will they do for the planned massive Olympic housing (new highrise construction) on the near South side not so far off the lakefront when the games are over?  What happens to the annual Summer stuff like Chicagofest, cancel for that Summer?  How is Metra and the CTA going to handle the tidal wave of additional ridership or, for that matter, how are you going to get to work?  

Looks like we are all going to be camping out in your back yard and Metra-ing it into the City.  Two questions, what infrastructure improvements do you plan for the camp grounds?  And what are you going to do about all of the existing toxic waste (doogy doo doo)?  When do you start accepting campground reservations?

Tried to get on here yesterday but the site was down for update.

Tuesday the doctor gave me good news about my test results, its just that I hate waiting over two hours in the doctor's office.

Have a co-worker that several people suspect of stealing money from the cash drawer, some toll tickets were found ripped up in a trash can in one of the lanes, which could mean that she never put the tickets through the machine but charged people and put the money in her pocket, to let somebody though you just have hit correct two keys in sequence to lift the gate.

Going to train show on saturday in Dearfield Beach FL, hopefully I can sell a few things.

Hey guys

I'm at work for a while, no Daytona as the HD is still at the shop.  No word yet, but I'll stop by later to see what's going on.

Up to 89 today low humidity and FOG this AM, so maybe it was a good thing I didn't leave early (if I was going...).

Layed down some more grass on the layout and ran trains for a while.  The new grass mat looks great, I may have to get more.  The AC Moore is either closing or reducing inventory, to the LeMax stuff is 50% off.  Just Halloween stuff, not much Christmas (yet).  I bought a Cemetary Gate  to co with the tombstones and Haunted Motel.  I'll try to work them into the layout.  I'll try to do the SPF, if I'm not in Daytona.  I have to work at the REAL job Saturday and the daughter has homecoming dance Sat. night until 11 PM.  I may squeek outta here early Sunday if I have a bike, that is....

Good Morning from wet Southern Ohio,

It is cool and rainy this morning.  Finished breakfast and scoping out the day.  I start nightshift this evening, going into my long stretch, 3 nights, 22 hrs off the 3 days, bleh!

The bride and I got back in last night from our mini-vacation in the Cumberland Plateau.  Beautiful area and the leaves were almost at the peak.  We did quite a bit of hiking, and had a good time.

Jim F – The trolley is “S” and the kit is made by Putt Trains.  It is DC which is why I asked Bob N about the simple AC to DC converter instead of pulling out the #15 Rectiformer!

Hope you can get the bike back in time for a quick trip to Daytona, I was looking forward to hearing about your experiences.  Sadly, we were only there for opening day this last spring so we missed out on all the debauchery, poor planning on my part    What I should have done is planned was being at York today and tomorrow and then head south to Daytona for the weekend, now THAT would have been a road trip to remember   This has to be the best time of year to be on the road for anyone that enjoys traveling, the next time I retire I will make it a priority to not be at home for at least the first three weeks of October.

Turning out to be a beautiful, sunny, cool Autumn day. The tree colors are outstanding this year - yellows, purples, oranges, reds and that's only in our yard.

Jack, Chicago has bid a 'cheap-o' Olympics - no state and fed support - vague idea of local 'corp' support - no need for permanent facilities - Oly stadia would be temporary - athlete housing would be privately-developed. There are doubts that King Daley can pull it off - even before the local econ had tanked...he recently bought 10 years of city labor peace - stunningly unbelieveable contracts. Should be interesting...

Roy:  I use #600 sandpaper to polish the commutator.

Finished wiring the Lionel 2332 GG1 wiring.  I even spent the extra $$ to get the cloth wire insulation.  The best news is everything works, including the horn!  I wired the lights to the brushes to get the light going forward brighter than the back light.  Voltage is about half that of the forward light.  Thought I'd post a couple of pics.

Afternoon all.  Boat dealer show is over.  Now to relax in the hotel room.  If I left now, would sit in traffic on interstate and would be 10:30 or 11 PM getting home.  Had a lb of pork bar-be-que for lunch.  Had cole slaw, backed beans and plenty of sweet ice tea.  BTW: Ohizo girls are easy.  Talk one dealer into buying a couple of small inverters.  Charmed her some during the show and she came back and modified her order for 10.   Had two dealers from Ohizo, two from Montana, one from CA and one from WY.  Then the regular Yanks.   NY, PA, MA and NJ.  Don't think we had any from Merryland.
