What a pleasant day today - think the next two or three will be unseasonally warm and sunny. Sometimes it's nice to just focus on the weather and other blessings. Hope to work a bit on the layout tonight...

69 degrees in St. Louis with a high today of 74 - just beautiful out today, it was a pity to be working inside.  Took part of an old bed to the curb for trash tomorrow morning and noticed something on the front porch.  TRAINZ boxes!  Smile [:)]

Back home again.  Going back tomorrow evening.  Got some wiring done, fished, installed new gas range, installed new Lowrance color maping GPS on boat and dug hole and cemented in sleeve and bottom section of 20' flag pole.  Hand mixed 3 1/2 80 lb bags of concrete.  OH my aching arms and legs.  Will be ready to fly the Stars and Stripes Sat morning.  Now to rest.  Later and God bless.

BTW: Fifey, you can retire there and come police in Roseyville.  Take home Crown Vic and top salaries.

Evening!

Spent afternoon prepping and caulking, for the arrival of painting weather.

Brutus:  Congratulations to your Bride on her promotion!  Also, congratulations on your Trainz delivery!  I'm in tonight!  Beacon is on.  Will understand if you are too occupied with your new toys.  Fried ham sandwiches w/ grilled onions, horseradish, and munster cheese.

Dennis:  Congratulations to you and your Church on the success of your latest movie!

GOOD EVENING ALL

Like most we had a real nice day. Got boat cover fixed and some patio stuff put away. I did not get to the grass cutting, but its suppose to stay in the 70s through Monday. So of course that meant outdoors and no trains but I thought about them. All we need is the Tardis and some hot fudge for the banilla, so lets get started.....S.J.

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....

Today was a beautiful day. 75 degrees. Sunny.

I had a good day today. Drove to the store and got a few items. Took walker. I liked the shopping cart better. Leg is getting stronger.

I still have not made it down to the train room. Thought about having an elevatoer installed. Twenty grand. So, back to the drawing board. I think I will walk outside and in the door. Soon.

Dining car has been here and breakfast was good.

I hope y'all had a great day.

CHUCK a word of caution check the stairs first. Some years ago I broke my knee and had a full link cast on my leg. My wife waxed the stairs to the trains.LOL---Actually I don't think she ever did, but she kept threating to do it if I did not behave so I was never sure as I tried to slowly get down the stairs.

Hmmm - I better not let my wife see this one!

Thanks Kurt!  She is still just flying!  Of course, she was in high level meetings all day today and on a telecon phone from home for 2 hours after work!!!  She'll get comp time though, so it's fine.  We had grilled ham steaks with potatoes 2 days ago - yummy!  Layout is still under wraps so no good.

BTW - My friend Jeff suggested making a thinner mix of mud and using a fine sponge after the color starts to change on the set mud/tape to make a nice smooth seam, so sounds a lot like your process?

Tardis is ready, but I have no fudge?  Sir James, sorry - kept losing connection tonight, so I think neighbor must have a wireles phone on my wireless frequency?

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

The leaves in the hills are turning color and looks beautiful.  It was beautiful as I was told today.  I never got to see daylight because I was at work and there are no windows.  There was a beautiful sunset.

Fife - You could become part of Chief's body guards

Chuck - Glad the leg is doing better

Jim F - When you mud with a banjo you thin the mud to a milkshake consistancy.  I also preferred using topping at this point.

Well I am off till next Thursday, this is why I still work shiftwork!  Going to hang a stormdoor for oldest daughter, finish homework for saturday and take some pics for SPF.  I've got something special to show DougM.

God bless

Jim

Brutus......congratulations to the wifey.  Thumbs Up [tup]  Interesting that Don is laboring with Chris on values, and your wife lives them by persisting until the title and compensation finally catch up to what she's been doing all along.  Kids today want it all far too quickly; and if it doesn't come quickly, they cop an attitude or worse, they quit.  Hope the little ones and not so little ones are taking mental notes.

Good stuff, Don and Jim.  Your posts were rays of sunshine in an otherwise sobering day in our country.

Someone else posted something on bipartisan blame/responsibility for this mess.  That's where my head is at.  This will be my 10th presidential election.  For the first time I find myself unable to sort out the chaff and see a better if not clear choice.  Rather than one candidate or the other rising to the level of preference if not my outright support, both are sinking to the bottom.  The more I see and hear, the less I like.  Now I know how folks felt when facing a presidential choice in 1932 (the Depression) or 1940 (involvement in World War II).  The stakes seem higher than at any time in my voting life, probably because they are.  Many of my friends and acquaintances share the same sense of uncertainty about the candidates this time around, regardless of their political leanings in the past.

Hi all!

Been really busy again this past week. Headed to York Tuesday. Hope to see sone of yuz giz there.

Weather here has been outstanding. Cool mornings and warm afternoons. Big change from last 10 years. They say it is the hurricanes that level our areas weather out. Big low pressure that brings down CA cool air and some rain.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 55 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Wellllll, back to Home depot for a darker shade of blue.  The Cozumel color turned out too turqoise, and we are going to sell our house in 4 years, soooo...  Actually had all four "laborers" helping yesterday.Thumbs Up [tup]  Gotta finish prepping the front door today;spent many hours yesterday taking 5 decades of paint off with a heat gun.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  There are times in everyone's life when you wonder if you are really making a difference in the world, and then there are moments when all doubts like that go away.  Last night I was walking toward the stands for the boys' game when one of "my" soccer girls told me to go see the rest of the team.  When I got there, they gave me a shirt just like the ones they had made for the evening.  They were black T-shirts with "Pirates" across the top front, "Soccer" across the bottom and a skull and crossbones in the middle.  On the back of their shirts, they had their name and number.  On mine, it had my name and "#1 Fan" written on the back.   It was all done with spray-painted stenciling in a kind of silver-gold color.  All I could do during the game is think, "Wow!"  I sat with the coaching staff behind the girls as we watched the boys lose a tough one 3-1.  On the positive side, it was the first time we had scored a goal in sectional play in five years, and kid who scored it was one of the ones I had worked with a lot in prior off-seasons.  To say the least, it was an interesting evening.  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning.  It is good to hear that "Points East" is up and moving around better.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Yeah Doug, they just don't get it.  LA Times and some others sent reporters around to find out about the formula for the success.....Easy, it's God's project.  Turn it over to Him and let Him do it!  Humbled, I have seen so much that was way beyond what we could do.  Things just happened that pulled it all together.  Also, thanks Kurt for the thoughts.

Waiting for the assistants to harvest vein to begin our case this morning.  Hope to get going soon.  When done, have to take the mini van to get tires on it.  Also have to watch the kids this afternoon so bride can come to the hospital to do a recert test.

Plan to work on layout tonight and to grill some steaks.  In laws are coming to town, so it should be an interesting weekend.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

God Bless,

Morning all from beautiful southern Ohio,

Slept in a bit, 6 days in a row of less than 6 hours of sllep a night had me tired!Zzz [zzz]  Honey Nut Cheerios and coffee for breakfast.

Buckeye- TGIF

Kurt- Topping compound has a finer grit and feathers smoother.  You can use general purpose for everything, because it has slightly less volume of taping compound, but more than topping.  Just a little more tricky to feather.  I think the binder is a differ mix too don't know.

Fife - Tall furry hat?  Now I have a picture in my mind, you still would need the dark sunglasses and the ear piece with the cord going down your coat.Cool [8D]

Dennis- Your typical days amaze me.  Folks in the health care, got to be saints.Angel [angel]

May God bless

Good Morning,

Did a lot yesterday, went for blood work & X-ray, even cut the grass or about two/thirds of the yard, before going to work.

Heard a rumor or two about my job, first is that they are no longer hiring, second is that some people were layed off in Orlando area. I know the economy is bad but to lay off people at the Toll Plaza is something else, traffic has been down somewhat so maybe a cut-back is coming to my plaza, hope nobody gets cut.

DirecTV is supposed to come again on saturday if it don't rain, maybe I can get hooked up. Roofer came yesterday and sealed the skylight on the back side of the house, did the wrong one on tuesday.

Absolutely gorgeous day here in sunny Taxachussetts, 70, and not a cloud in the sky.  Wife will be joining friends for girls' night out, so it's pizza and the ball game on the "good" TV with no interruptions.....I can never seem to get 9 innings in.  The dog is limping again, waiting for the vet to call with further instructions.

In August I took a pass on the annual fixed price per gallon fuel oil contract.  Will pay the prevailing rate at the time of delivery.   Since the price per barrel of oil has been plummeting, looks like at least one move to save something on heating costs this winter might pay off.  Even with the recent price drops, it will cost more this Winter to heat the house anyway.

MikeC.....the recognition from the girls must have made your soccer season.  Priceless.

Dennis......will prayers work during those train dilemmas when my (lack of) knowledge and experience fail me?  I'll have to try it.

Lee....hang in there.  The Orlando situation might be the result of a routine seasonal fluctuation in traffic, no?

Chuck......good to hear the leg is coming along.  Your patience and humor is paying off.  Can trains in the basement be far behind?

Sir James......the Docs will figure this headache thing out about the time they are dedicating a wing in your name. Banged Head [banghead]

Fife.....that smiley emoticon with the sunglasses on looks eerily like one of the pics you posted of yourself a couple of months back from your vacation. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Chief.....you need the to use the Roseyville traffic helicopter to cut the commute times between home and Chief's Chalet.  You must really be racking up the miles.

DougM......have you seen the 2 million dollar projector at the Adler Planetarium John McCain keeps bringing up?

J.Daddy.....enjoyed the pics of your little ones on another thread.

Jon and Rich.....roads have been loaded with bikes the past few days, taking advantage of our shorter riding season.  Last night (in the dark) I was on my way home and stopped to help a guy who got hit by a young girl who came out of a side road and t-boned him.  I could see him coming toward me for about 200 yards, very little traffic, no curves, weather clear as can be, his headlight brighter than a car's.  Police came with paramedics, though he seemed relatively unscathed.  The bike didn't fare as well.  Overheard the girl tell police she didn't see him.  Bet she was on a cell phone.  Hellen Keller couldn't have missed him.

TGIF.....it's been quite a week.  I predict the stock market will not go down for the next two days.

Hey Sir James, sorry to hear about your headache today.  My sinus is bad today, so maybe it's the weather changing?  Jack - I heard on the radio last night that it's really the thing-a-mabob that projects the stars and planets inside the dome.  Apparently Jupiter is not functioning etc and this one is no longer made?  They are going to raise about 7 Million privately and the other 3 million is from this bill I guess?  So, it is a projector, just not what you might expect.  St-Phish and Kurt, thanks for info - I am going to learn a lot more about this subject before I start.  I've never actually done the mudding and taping.  I'll do the inside of the closets first so my practice work won't show later Wink [;)]
