Good morning.

Beautiful day in Ohio, especially after the Buckeyes stumble and fumble and win the football game.

Yard work today.

Has anyone put a TAS TMCC unit in a Docksider?  It is not easy and the instructions are not that good.

Morning all,

Nice win yesterday by Texas over the Okies. Good to see Jeff Burton win last night also. Poor ol' Dale E can't catch a break - except those involving his car.

Another beautiful day here. 60's going to mid-80's.

Hope everyone has a great day today. Cowboys play the AZ Cardinals - hope they don't stink this one up.

71 degrees in St. Louis and going up to 83 today.  I have to mow the yard, fix my old trimmer and do some other yard stuff today, but also want to get some work done on the basement before I have to go back to work on Tuesday.  I also need to get serious if I'm going to have any kind of Halloween layout this year.  I missed last year.  Working 6 days a week eats up your leisure time and then I get on the computer or start watching a movie or something....

Roy - is there a particular textbook or other book you would recommend for someone who wants to learn about simple electronics?

Morning all. Back from serving at church. Really sunny and hot this weekend. Probably last such weekend of the year. Fireproof is a great movie - took the right couple with us - had a nice discussion afterward. Looking forward to Sunday photo fun...

I usually don't post anything to the Coffee Pot, but today I will.

Yesterday - I drove over the newly rebuilt 35W bridge here in Minneapolis for the first time since it's collapse.  It was a gift-given feeling to know that I could then go home, kiss my kids good night and hug my wife ... makes a person feel lucky.

Enjoy your day.

Hey Doug - how are Tom and Perc doing lately?

Got the back yard mowed and got the trimmer switched to brush cutter.  Cut down a bunch of wild roses and junk that has been growing wild down in my trees since I moved in.  Every year I expand the cleared area a little more.  I'll have to finish mowing the front and side tomorrow.  Enjoying a nice cole beverage now as wife and kids fight over tv "rights" - lol!

Doug, Glad you enjoyed the movie.  I can think of several couples I'd like to take, but they are all out of the area.  I am working on it.  Tried to get the MIL to the movie this afternoon, but they had to get on the road a bit earlier.  We have another interview tomorrow.  The guy we interviewed yesterday was very strong, so if this next person is anything less, our decision is made.

Nothing new on the train front.  My favorite train store is having a sale this weekend.  I may have to purchase a NYC H16-44.  We need to take stock of our inventory....I'll check with the comptroller.  I suspect she'll say "You have enough".

HOpe everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Laz - way ahead of you.  I'll bring some Sam's over and run on your layout.  I've got all this stuff and can't try it out Sad [:(]  Soon enough I guess....  Tardis is ready and I see a couple lights on the interociter scope thing.  I'll be over in about 10 minutes, gotta make a couple pick-ups!

Running trains before the Tardis pick-up. Following an article in the most recent CTT by Terry Thompson about operations. It is fun. I've also changed the direction of the way some trains run. Changes everything nicely.

Dennis......leave the newspaper classifieds open on the kitchen table with some Harley Davidsons circled for you know who to see.  Wait half day.  Then bring up the prospective train purchase. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

DougM.....they still doing ChicagoFest with all the food and live entertainment?  Believe it or not, many moons ago I wandered into ChicagoFest and heard Frank Sinatra was performing that night. While the first few rows were "reserved," the rest were first come first served.  He flew into Chicago from Las Vegas, helicoptered to Meigs Field, did one 45 minute show, and reversed the process out of town.

Morning all. I think I'm the only one working in Chicago today. Supposed to be our last 'hot' day of this year.

Jack, Chicagofest has morphed into Taste of Chicago - a bacchanalia of eating overpriced 'samples' from a billion restaurant kiosks around July 4th, complete with entertainment not quite of Frank's variety. That said, there seems to be some of music fest (Jazz, Blues, Loolapalooza, etc) in Grant . Millenium Park every summer weekend - the country folk had theirs this past weekend.  Interesting it all used to be IC freight yards.

Chicago is still amazingly the American candidate for hosting the 2016 Olympics.

Morning all.  Did I sleep late!!!!  Yes, until 9 AM.  Wife home.  Feds holiday.  Now for some breakfast.  BTW: yesterday I cooked grits with chopped ham [part of a canned ham chopped up] and cheese.  Real good breakfast.  Going to warm up some today.  Have a good one.  Later.

Morning All !

Well lets see; its Fall, Santa Ana winds going on (60 to 70 mph), NO humidity, Verry Dry, Hmmmm here goes the FIRES again !! This morning at dawn the area near the 118 and 210 Freeway interchange is burning.  Over 3200 acres, no idea of structures yet, but know there are some.  Prognosis isn't good, winds suppose to run through Wednesday for sure.  (The area burning is the north central side of LA., as a matter of fact it is extremely close to the North Interstate 5 escape route from LA.  Significant evacuations going on. (Stay safe RAY!!)

On a  MUCH lighter front, did get some work done on the reindeer, got 2 coats on all the backsides, and got the dark brown painted on all 9 frontsides.  Went to Lowes for some paint, and they had their Christmas stuff out.  Got some good deals, bought a "Chevy Dealer" with rotating car in the window, illuminated as well, street lights, some high intensity spot lights, City Christmas tree, a fence with gate and columns, (the columns are illuminated).  Prices are really good!!!  Of course they were Lemark brand, but it will look fine.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 83 today, with sunshine. Another beautiful day in Ohio.

Today is a busy day. I have been doing exercises this morning on my legs. Feels good. Have not attempted the basement stairs yet. I think I will give them a try this week. Wife will stand at the bottom  to catch me if I fall.  LOL......... I need to run trains.

Dining car was here and headed for " Points West".

Y'all have a  great Monday.

Good mornin' ya'll from hazy but still a relatively warm (65 high today) Taxachussets where the temperatures in my neck of the woods are being held down with breezes off the Atlantic, water temps already down to the low to mid 50s.  Warmer West of here.  Indian Summer.

I thought the California boys would be razzing the New England folk (me) after last night's San Diego Charger thumping of the Patriots.  Chargers look like they are pulling it all together.  Boston learning some sports humility after Red Sox loss at home to Tampa Bay.  Florida boys eerily silent as well.

The Fall cleanup continues today (deck furniture stowing activities), too much to do in a day.  The leaves are just starting to fall in earnest, and the colors are cranking up.  With gasoline prices continuing to drop, I wonder if the tourists will be migrating to New England as usual for the Fall foliage.  The pumpkin farm is on the agenda for the coming weekend with the granddaughter (5 going on 12).

Laz.....thanks for the reminder on the snowblower.  I've got to get mine in for some service, waited too long already and now may get caught up in the rush.

DougM.....I forgot, it was called Taste of Chicago for quite a while now.  Have you ever checked out the local train clubs?  Was wondering if you ever got to the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club or to the 3500 foot HO exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Don.....65-70 mph winds out this way are not uncommon, but they are usually the effects of our being on the edge of a passing hurricane (out at sea) accompanied by lots of rain.  I can't imagine what it's like having to worry about the combo of out of control fires of your magnitude every year.  The air quality out your way isn't the greatest to start with.

Chief.....was nice to hear that the wifey is happy with the new digs.  No news is good news on the leg you whacked with the sledgehammer, right?

Chuck.....glad to hear the leg continues to improve and that the train room is becoming a near term possibility.  You think the wife is going to catch you?  She'll probably be standing there after the fallen fact and tell you she wasn't ready, to try it again.  To be safe, tie a rope to her at the top of the stairs before you descend, then she'll have a vested interest in the outcome. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Later, gang.
