Evening all!

Had to work all day today. Ugh!

Picked up two of the DTV converters withy my coupons for two of our old TVs. These things work really well! The 2 old TVs were on rabbit ears and always had trouble getting a clean picture - had to always wiggle the antenna around - many times not quite successfully. Well now I get a great picture without messing with the antenna. The DTV box also has an "analog" pass through feature which allows you to go back to the antenna direct. So for two boxes I got at Sears - only paid $25. Not bad.

Doug - get well soon.

Brutus - we have had good luck/quality and good prices at the Super Target Optical Dept here.

Mike C - sorry about the soccer team loss.

Going to State Fair of Texas tomorrow. Corny Dogs here we come! Dinner [dinner]

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all.  Leave for Baltimore tomorrow afternoon.  Spent this week working on the trains.  Changing out some of the layout to add another loop.  One of the over/ unders became 2 loops, one high one low.  Looks like it's coming together nicely.

Here's an over all.

Mornin' boys.  Foggy & 57 this AM in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Should be sunny for MARTY's arrival.  My Grandmother summonsed me to church today = no RAVENS game and no TALLADEGA.  I can't wiggle out of this, as she recently gave me her testimony and asked that I be there today.  Wifey said I could use some anyway...Confused [%-)]

Morning all. Feeling better today - just in time to go to work tomorrow. LOL. Found a substitute at the last minute for my church work.  Whilst waiting for the teens to return from homecoming - I watched the Cub debacle, most of 4 college football games, and even some European soccer match in honor of Mike C. I think they were speaking Italian. Teens seemed to have a good time, as much as I could discern as they were grumpily going off to church - score a point for their not-dating.  Hope to run trains later today.

Morning all.  Going to store.  Not much happening.  Chatted with Savage Arms rep in hotel parking lot.  He says business is way down.  Especially since it is hunting season here.  Going to leave this afternoon and go by Lake House.  Going by the way of Ohizo.  Need to go vote there as I have visited there several times in last 4 years.  Couple of times went through there in airports.  Think that qualifies as residentual status. Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 52 degrees. Got cold last night. Going up to a warm 78 today , with sunshine.

Today is a good day. I was a little sore this morning, in my leg. Meds helped that. Feeling better now. Still have not been to the train room. Think I  will go outside and come in the basement door. That's better than the stairs. I need to run trains.

Dining car was here and I had breakfast. It departed for a couple of stops west of here.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Watch some football later?  Maybe baseball too?

Nothing much planned for today.  Hurt my neck yesterday moving those shelves and it's really tight today.  I was going to work on the basement, but we'll see.  I have to run to Walmart for meds later and maybe pick up the Iron Man dvd for "the family" Wink [;)]  Had a good talk with Sir James this morning, for once all about toy trains - mostly Lionel.  I'm really tempted to go down and uncover my layout and run some trains!   Chuck, I'm sure glad to hear you are doing so much better!  Doug, I thought I had a few more years before my kids would start in on this stuff, but they are already doing that boy/girl stuff a little bit and I'm just not ready for this....

Roy - my wife has a coupon for some place and I think she's going to look into that today.  I'll tell her about Target though.

Laz - that sounds delicious!  I think I might make some meatballs in the crockpot today.

Good Afternoon.  Had a good morning at Church.  Lots of visitors from all over the country.  Just as we were getting the kids and heading out for lunch, I got called in for another emergency....they're killing me!  Anyway, it was quick and I am home now.  Finally getting to spend some time with the family.

Have a big favor for any computer litterate folks here.  One of the guys I work with had gone to Canada and tagged a record book Carriboo.  He brought the photos in on a digital camera to show me.  He was trying to copy them to his computer, but now it shows them as being gone.  The memory card has not been overwritten, but it shows no data on it.  Shouldn't the information still be there?  Any ideas on recovery?  I appreciate it.

Well, I had better go as I am about to fall asleep.  Don't want to send any mindless posts.

God Bless,

Dennis

Greetings from near the Halloween capitol of the planet, Salem MA., aka "the Witch City."  For you history buffs, Salem witch trials of 1692.  Lots of torture and hangings.  I live in the next town North.  The entire month is a celebration of Halloween in Salem, tons of locals and tons of tourists, in the hundreds of thousands.  Halloween is like Mardi Gras, so many dressed in costume for the event, young and old alike. Traffic is already ramping up in the surrounding towns as drivers seek to avoid traffic getting into Salem where to their dismay they discover parking is not adequate.  Nearby malls with available parking and shuttle into Salem is the better choice, or commuter rail directly into Salem from the outlying towns.

The Topsfield Fair opened last night for its annual 10 day run in Topsfield MA., longest continuously running agricultural fair in the US.  6 miles Northwest of me.  Also a traffic and parking nightmare with no solution.  Right on Route 1 which I believe Chief can drive all the way here if he doesn't want to do Route 95.  Same with Spanky

Chief.....thanks for the heads up on the K-Line RI boxcar.  O gauge is problematic for me cause none of my (engine) stuff is scale or close to scale.  Suppose I could saw off the top of the car and reattach.  Glad the leg is cooperating, just don't fall off the ladder when painting.

DougM.....CONVINCED IT WILL TAKE A PLANE CRASH WITH THE DEATH OF THE ENTIRE OPPOSITION'S TEAM BEFORE THE CUBBIES WIN, BY DEFAULT!  Banged Head [banghead]Sad [:(]  Glad you are feeling better, better prepared mentally and physically for the next teen disaster.

Fife.....do you have to wear a disguise when you go to church?  Thunder, lightening, black clouds, and high winds coincide with your visit? Whistling [:-^]

Brutus and Sir James......cost of glasses are even worse when one of your dogs likes to chew those prescription $400 Variluxed lens glasses AND sunglasses into a zillion pieces. Banged Head [banghead]

Roy.....I've got one Sony Trinitron from 1993 in my office/ecercise room (Whistling [:-^]) hooked up directly to Comcast Cable with no box.  Think I too will be forced to get a box.

NASCAR now.  Patriots and Red Sox on tap for later.  Time to start up some chili in the kitchen. Chef [C=:-)]

Buckeye - 10 Days to go, and 25 until I can turn in the crutches...

Chuck - The side entrance to the basement is the way to go, if you can do it without hurting yourself.  I went down the strairs on crutches.  Probably not the smartest thing, but I wanted to play with the trains.

Jack - Being directly connected to a cable provider with an analog set, even without a converter box, isn't going to require you to get a DTV converter.  It's only for over the air users.

Off to a 4 year old's birthday party.

Chuck....I share your frustration.  Through my 3 surgical/knee escapades, I got proficient at the "one stair at a time on my rear end" approach.  Throwing the crutches down the stairs before I went down on my rear.  Using a rope to pull up the crutches once I got back to the top.

Thanks, Wes.

Another problem I am having is that one by one I am losing certain channels like MSNBC and others.  Probably because of a realignment (elimination) by Comcast to "encourage" me to bump my digital package to the next pricier level. Angry [:(!] Sad [:(] Banged Head [banghead].

Wife is now complaining because she has lost one of her favorite channels on our second floor where we have no cable boxes.  Sure am glad we have cable ready sets only to still need a box.  Great revenue generator for Comcast, great wallet-emptyer for us.  May have to upgrade the package service level to quiet her down (then I'll suffer with the Speed Channel and TCM tooSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]).

I have to start taking a more strategic approach with all this stuff.  Eliminate land line phone.  Consolidate service bundled through one provider (cell, ISP, and Cable TV).

I think I read somewhere that the equivalent of the cable box would become a standard piece of hardware inside some manufacturers' sets.....no?

Afternoon!

Watching Lions, and Da Bears....Lions are still a bit if a mess...Hope they can recover the team.  Player moral looks pretty low.

Brutus:  I started on some drywall patching, and have been wiping the mud down with a drywall sponge.  It's working very well...no dust!  It will really improve your mudding technique, since it takes a bit more effort to get things smooth.  A clean mud job really makes the job go fast.

Laz:  Someone else had that issue with Shutterfly, and wrote to them, and that solved the problem.  Something with their latest server storage change, that confused some folks files.

Doug:  Hope you're feeling better.

I had a similar problem with some photos.  I took the card to Wolf/Ritz Camera and they were able to recover them with their softwear.

Crutches Rule No. 1

Down with the bad,  up with the good.

When you are going down, the crutches and the bad leg goes down the steps first.

When you are going up the stairs, the good leg goes first.

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio,

It has been a beautiful day.  Sunny and low 70's.  It has been a crazy busy weekend.  No rest.  A meeting in Columbus Friday night, class all day Saturday, picked up the grandkids on the way home and they stayed overnight, helped at both Masses, then celebrated the twins birthday.  Just the bride and I now and we have a load of laundry in the washer and we're going to chill the rest of the night.

Chuck - please be careful, don't want to get youself in a bind.

Laz- Sounds like you had a great fishing trip

Buckeye - Let's just send Cheif a ballot.  Sister in law works for the board of elections.

DougM - Hope you are feeling better.

Chief - Is the leg better?

MartyE - Neat layout in the SPF

May God bless

Jim

Buckeye - I could have used that 3 weeks ago!  Rule #2, If you are going to fall down the stairs, fall backwords...The crutches will make you clear about 4 steps as you fall forward and get them stuck under your arms.  It's a good ride, but the landing can be rough.

SPF is a little thin today!  York week will make up for it.

I honestly think the Buckeyes could give the Bengals a good run for their money...

After listening to you Guys, I think I will go outside and walk around the house and go in the basement door. Then I have to duck under the blue bridge. I knew I should have hinged it. Then, I can run trains.

I have a plan.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Worked on cleaning the house some more.  Washed two cars and picked up sticks.  "Desperate Housewives" on in a few.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  Tried those Arby sub sandwiches for lunch today.  Not much to write about concerning them.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Roger, Thanks for the information.  I have a guy who does my computer work, he has been quite busy lately, but I will bring it to him and have him restore the photos.

Chuck, I know the house I grew up in used to have a coal shoot that would end in the basement.  If you still have yours, you could just use thatWink [;)]  But really, hope you are on the mend soon and get back to running the high ball.

Well, had a very nice service tonight at church.  It is a great way to start off the week ahead.  Hope everyone has a blessed week,

Lucy, I'm home.  By the way of the Lake House.  Was only 15 miles off of I85 which is the quickest way home and better than I95.  Wes and Chuck, get well now.  I am doing a lot better.  Speaking of food, I need to go eat dinner.  Starving.  Eastern NC pork bar-be-que sandwich with slaw.  A few fries getting cold as I bouth them an hour ago.  Had to get unpacked after turning in rental car.  Later.

Chief would just fire up the John Deere and hitch a trailer to the back.  (Formerly) Court TV had a segment on a drunk guy who ran out of strategic supplies at home, didn't want to get a DUI driving his car to and from the liquor store, and that is what he tried to drive there.  Police not amused.
