They have been selling these at this price for a couple years, I think?  They are not your regular "Lionel style" couplers though.  I think Doug Murphy told me that?

Big local news - VP debate coming tomorrow.  I guess that will screw up Survivor Sad [:(]

Tardis is ready and I see a half-dozen beacons, so I'm outa here!  Banilla, Old Mills, some Miller Lites, a couple Sam Adams, and some AB Select if anyone is thirsty!  TTFN Smile [:)]

Brutus & Dennis,

They do come with the scale couplers, but they can be changed out quite easily.

Finally cooled off enough to turn off the AC and open some doors and windows. This 104* stuff gets old real QUICK. Grumpy [|(]

Worked on one of my cars for the halloween train, encountered something new. I was planning on using some silicone caulk that I had used earlier this year. After extracting the dried/cured plug and trying to adhere some characters I discovered that it will not set up. No matter how long it sits it will not set up, stays the same as it comes from tube. Had to break out the hot melt glue gun, now they'll definitely stay in place. Dunce [D)]

Brutus - Yes,  the Plymouth Switcher sets have a smaller scale size coupler. I have one decorated for WM and at least that set had "normal" lionel coupler you could switch out.  I run them on my upper loop as a unit and have never switched the couplers.  Cool little set.  I believe JusTrains is where I picked mine up at York.  I think it was $60, but it has been a while.

Prayers to Blueberry, RT, Chief and SJ  (and others) for their quick recovery from tests, injuries, etc. MartyE good to see you posting again.  Hope to see you at York.  Is the Coffee Pot photo still on for Friday afternoon? Great to hear Buckeye and Wes are already packing their bags.  Should be fun.

Haven't been posting much, like DWeimer, work has been crazy.  Taking the better part of the next two weeks off with a trip to the beach and York Meet.  I can't wait.  Might not have internet access at beach but that is OK with me.

Well I gotta go.  Today we are interviewing for an Instructional Assistant position. Had a lady quit last Friday.  I hope we will finally have a full staff.

Take care,

Mitch

Dennis, as mentioned the sets come with scale couplers.  With the set is one 3-rail replacement.  When we contacted Lionel a few months ago they did not have replacements in stock and had no idea when/if they would be getting any from China.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Wife watched a lot of TV last night.  I dropped in from time to time, but mostly eBayed and some Second Life.  High school kids are in action tonight on the soccer field.  May have to watch the VP debate.  Could be interesting.  Thanks for the compliment on the Tardis driving, Bru.  All that upside down experience from racing the Pinto years ago came in handy.  I had the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hey guys, just popping in for a short one.  been really busy with work, got home about 7:30 last night being here at 7 AM.  Today I have to get 2 more cars on the internet site then procede to catalog all the parts we have on hand here.  People buy cars, complain that there is a bad part I order it and they disappear.  And I'm stuck with the partBanged Head [banghead].  I have so much stuff here, it has to be cleaned out.

Nothing really new on the trains this week, I'm hoping to get some time to wire up my crossing gates and find a place for my K-Line Milk Car and loading dock.

Bike died yesterday while I was visiting one of my accounts, towed it back to HD.  Maybe I shoulda got a 1300 VTX?

Nice weather today up to 80, NO humidity, and have a double header tonight.  Life ain't that bad (except for the bike Banged Head [banghead]).

Hope youse guys are ok - prayers for youse that a little under the weather.

We'll see ya later.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Hmm the pot room is quiet this morning, almost like a York week, someone is missing. If you buy a new K-line Plymouth set it will come with a regular size lionel coupler that you change out yourself. The scale coupler was designed to work with regular ones but it can be ify. If you get a good mate it works. Sun this morning but 40. Yuck. Have a good day....S.J.

Morning!

annjdevil:  Sorry to hear about the ride...uh. no.  You shouldn't have.  VTX 1300 is really cool, but it's not a Harley.

Bloody cold here...40.  Too cold to paint outdoors...Did some painting indoors.  Need to cut grass.

Ordered parts for the GG-1...Still trying to figure out how to stripe it.

Other than that quiet.  Trains are packed for awhile to get things cleaned up around here.

Morning gang.  Getting ready to hit the road [Enterprise picks me up] and go to Richmond [actually Ashland] VA for Bass Pro Shops grand opening.  Going to run trains some before I go.

You all will love this one.   Lucy [the puppy] is still tiny in dog world size but has grown.  Last night while posting the long post, I suddenly heard a bonk bonk bonk screaming from the ohter part of the house.   Never heard a loud fast busy this loud.  Went into the livingroom and Lucy was in the middle of the room looking sheepish and the portable was on the floor bonking away.  I told her to go to "timeout".  She flew to the kennel in the mud room [I call it utility room but wives have their own].  Sure enough.  Tiny teeth scratches on the face of the digital read out.  Seems she got the portable from the coffee table and turned it own.  Her Mom was at chior practice.  When she got hme, I told on Lucy.  Her Mom's reply was, "I told her if she wanted me, to call me." Banged Head [banghead]

Cooler and no humidity [and I have to work instead of being at the lake fishing].  Have a good one.

Chief - If you're gonna be in Ashland, get over to the Henry Clay Inn and watch some trains.  One of my favorite train spots.  Also, if you get the time, head north on RTE 1 to Doswell.  Turn right and go to the Squash-A-Penny.

If I didn't have the honey-do's, I'd be coming down to give you the tour...oh well.

In the NE we are blissfully enjoying that in-between period.  Kind of like a cease fire.  The enemy on the left is the mid summer electric bill when the a/c is cranking.  The enemy on the right is the mid winter fuel bill when the heating plant is getting quite a workout.

Both enemies are taking a breather right now.  This morning I began to wonder (again) what some folks are going to do when the temps drop.  An annual concern.  We got nailed with huge increases in heating oil prices last winter.  This winter's heating costs will make the last seem like a bargain.  Has a lot of folks feeling downright trapped and a lot more worried, more than ever before.  The horse remains out of the barn but has reached full gallop, that's the difference.

Normally I'm an upbeat guy.  However, Fife's posts about fallen hero Patrick Walters triggered something sobering in me; then DougDG's post about the 104 degree CA. temperatures redirected my mind on to skyrocketing (heating) fuel costs and the upcoming winter.  That's how my mind works.  Then it moves on to the bigger picture.

Events with our economy, the financial crisis, the energy debacle, and (yes) our upcoming election demonstrate that far too many big ticket items affecting each of us have repeatedly and consistently been held hostage, if not downright screwed up, by those purported to lead us in both the public and private sectors.  Our interests have become secondary or tertiary to those elected or hired to serve us.  Not a brilliant observation, but this morning I just can't sell myself today on the "bend but don't break" concept.  In my lifetime, the severity of so many issues simultaneously lumped into "now".....this morning, I don't see the ebb and flow, just the ebb.

I find myself recalling the words of my father (rip) about 40 years ago, the gist of which was:  "You can rest assured, when in a quandary over a serious national issue or crisis, you can usually select the opposite position of what your elected officials recommend and make the correct choice."

I will openly admit to a past filled with a somewhat partisan bent.  "Well, how's that working out for you, Rock?"  It isn't.  Sad to say, this morning you can pick a candidate team for President/VP and I can comfortably argue for the other.  The political lines have become blurred for me.  The choices are far worse than simply picking the lesser of two evils.  Either choice comes with one glaring downside I am unwilling to to accept.  Failure, regardless whom I pick.  This does not sit well with my business mind that has taught me through experience there is always a solution and folks with the fortitude to see them through..

I ask that this post not be a catalyst for a (Forum illegal) political debate or even civil discussion.  Just food for thought while I ponder solutions, how to get them, and through whom.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool and sunny 50 degrees. Going up to 70 today.

Today is a good day. I finally got a good night's sleep last night. Leg feels better too, today. Doing some walking to build muscles back up.

Still no time for trains. Gotta get down to the train room.

Dining car was here and I had breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good day,

Been busy building a wood frame for around my trash cans, gonna stop that racoon or racoons from having a mid-night buffet at my place.

Did some shopping today and prices are going up on vitamins, on my stuff 55 cents a bottle increase.  Gas is down to $3.57 a gallon in West Palm Beach FL.

Not much fun when the bike bonks. My VTX has given me over 21K carefree miles, just change the oil and check the tires once a week. Pretty hard to be beat Honda reliability. Several of my PGR buddies who ride HD will tell me quietly that their next bike will be a VTX or Goldwing. And my comeback is always-- "it's not what you ride, it's that you ride".

If the boss would give her blessings I would have a Goldwing tomorrow. But I'm happy, life's too short to wish it away.

Evenin' all. Bride is running around prepping for dinner guests - I chose this moment to power-wash the deck - you can imagine how that went over. ;)

Dennis, sign up for Boscov's email sales first, then wait a bit and you'll get an email for some ridiculous discount or free shipping - then buy the Plymouths. I have the KCC set - they came with the scale couplers. I need a third hand to swap them out - the traditional coupler is huge - these are small cars.

I see the Sox are losing to the Rays...  I try not to take it all too seriously, Jack or it's depressing. I'm waiting for the big default against our gigantisaurus debt in about ten years... Certainly appreciate the layout as a great distraction.

Guys, thanks for the heads up on Boscov's.  I will sign up for the specials.

One of the guys I work with just got back from Cananda.  Was up hunting and got a record book Carriboo (top 10) and a wolf.  Was stuck there an extra day as have to get a special permit to bring a wolf back into the country.  Meanwhile, I am stuck here and can't go to my yearly Elk hunt in Colorado because HR is not getting going to fill the position.  Arghhhh!  OK, back to normal.

I hear that the movie is going to be released in 300 more theaters, so if you were interested in seeing it, and there was no place local, there may be now.  Seems to still be doing well.  Ain't God great!

Hope everyone has a great night.  Oh, by the way, happy Friday Eve!

God Bless,

Dennis

Doug - Glad to see you doing the manly thing - for those of you not aware - take heed - it is man's mission to do these things. One of the best is to wait until your wife is going somewhere in the car and get out there first and start washing it - making sure the car being washed is blocking the driveway if you have a second car.

Nice day here - off to the HS football game. Only 2 Thursday night games this season and this is the second one - glad to get it over with!

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Jon - I was totally into Hondas for the longest time - last 3 bikes were VStar 600 V Twin with shaft drive, 1971 CB750F (Looked like a winger) and CB750F (and the F stood for FAST!).

I have a small "bucket list" and the Harley was on that list.  Kurt, I know it's American, but ya know, I really don't have deep pockets.  I'm hoping the selling dealer will help me out on this deal, but I'm expecting the worst.  No word today, I'll stop by tomorrow.

My short list:

Buy Harley

Buy 1st Home

Buy home with basement (in nj!!)

wants and needs are few, I thought I knocked the HD thing out of the park.  Suffice to say I'm disappointed.  Ah, well, there's alway my Lionels..!

Off to make dinner - will speak to youse later...

Laz, glad u r back, but those pictures leave a lot to the imagination.....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Brutus, thank you for the well wishes for my sister.

Chief, glad to hear that the leg is going to be OK.  When you had to have oxygen that time, how long did they keep you on it?  I went in for what I thought was the flu and the next thing I know I was in the hospital last December for emergency small intestine surgery. (they thought  it was appendicitis but it was'nt).  Anyway they discovered that my oxygen level was low too so they put me on it and I have been on it ever since at least at night.  I'm OK in the daytime but the doc still wants me to use it at night.  Ray
