Beautiful Fall day here in NE Taxachussetts with another soaker forecast for later this afternoon.  Foliage color is in the moderate range, normal for this time of year.  Experts predicted a later than usual turn of colors because of all of the rain and moderate temperatures, so much for the experts.  Suggest they don't quit their day jobs.

Apparently old age, guile, and a full-frontal assault has prevailed with the legal minds representing my nemesis, the roofing corporation that damaged the wife's car to the tune of $984 at her place of employment (yup, they didn't initially fess up until confronted with the evidence).  Yesterday wife was handed a check for the damages and an additional amount for a car rental; and a waiver of liability that included a provision for any unforeseen but required repairs that exceed the estimate.  Doberman Duke told to stand down.  Car now in for the fix, Enterprise Pontiac G6 in driveway with 205 miles on the odometer.  I asked for the cheapest rental and that's what I got.  Nasty break.

Prayers for all seeking resolution for their physical maladies.  Sir James on his test with the added hope that the nurses didn't take advantage of his innocence, or that he didn't take advantage of theirs.  Waiting to hear SPMan's reaction when his eye settles down and he sees the true condition of his past train acquisitions.....C7 is in the eyes of the beholder.  RT is gearing up for his road trip to Augusta, hope he doesn't suffer separation anxiety from his recent train finds, will probably leave the teddy bear behind and pack one of the engines for security instead.  Chief will have a tough, uphill battle quelling the laughter when he tries to explain to his Doctor how his leg got this way. Wes and Chuck.....thought for the day: a swollen knee is better than a swollen nothing.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Dennis.....Thumbs Up [tup] on the innaugural weekend success of the movie.

Roy.....remember when partying until 2 AM and going to work a few hours later was routine?  If you forgot that, we may have to move you up into the walking wounded paragraph.

DougM.....hookie in the cards today for the one game, winner-take-all game between your White Sox and the Twins?  Knowing the way things go with kids, this will be the day that a call comes in from the Principal's office, requesting an immediate meeting over some avoidable transgression, right when you are pulling out of the driveway.  Don't answer your cell phone until you are in your seat at Comiskey.

Right about this time Laz is stashing his "under size limit" catch beneath rear seat of Game Warden's vehicle in exchange for the citation he received.

MikeC.....is it the kids got tired of losing, or frustration overcame their fear of setback?  Congratulations on the recent turn of events in the won/loss collumn.  As was stated simply but eloquently by Boyd in another thread, "Never ever give up."

Hope everyone starts and finishes the day with a smile on their face.

Morning all. Glad Wes' knee is better. Sure is perfect football weather - grey and cool. But there's baseball still to be played. After yesterday's win, we'll see if an exhausted White Sox team can beat their nemesis, the Twins. Late night tonight with class. Have a great day.

Morning all.   Head to the dr. in about an hour for a check up after a co-worker last week suffered a heart attack.  Figure that was a wake up call to get checked and get back into a more vigorous execise program again.

hope everyone is good.  Will work on the layout later.

GOOD MORNING ALL

I made it, got a few hours sleep but never like home. I can't talk about the nurses for as you know, what happens at a sleep test stays at the sleep test. I heard that somewhere, or something like that. Gloomy day very damp. But other than some sleep I don't know about today at the moment,So everyone just enjoy..S.J.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful 75 degrees. Sunny. Hope for no rain.

Today is a good day. No pain and I am walking a little without walker. Don't want to overdo it. Still a little unstable.

Still can't get down to train room. That is starting to really bug me. Told wife we need a layout in the living room. Got dirty look. Oh well.............

Dining car was here and left for " Points West ".

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Hey Chuck,

How about a small loop on the dining room table, you could run a small string of gondolas, flats and/or hoppers for serving dinner/lunch. Clown [:o)]

Maybe you shouldn't make that suggesstion, if I did SWMBO would probably whack me with the walker. Black Eye [B)]

RT, best wishes and prayers for your procedure at the V.A.  Hurry back and give us a good report.  Re Southern food, they're probably right except I don't see how grilts would be dangerous unless you put something fat on them like butter or gravy.  I just eat them with margerine or some low fat spread and no gravy.  Anyway, the rule is:  If it taste good, forget it.  At least that's my situation sometimes.  Getting old is not for sissys.  Ray

Brutus:  I'm in...

Quiet day, but rainy.  No painting today...Managed to get all of the garage trim sanded, and 1/2 of the trim painted yesterday.  Need to wash wood siding, and paint that as well.

I think Sir James may need a night off to recover from the 'sleep clinic'.  Nudge, nudge, wink, wink...say no more....

I am going to be in Long Island, NY for a meeting this weekend.  I fly to some airport, then ride a shuttle to the hotel.  I'm not going to see squat!!!

Wes....I'm packed.

Tomorrow I head up to where the GRASS is ALWAYS GREENER.  Marysville, Ohio is an economic oasis within Ohio.  High gas prices, they build Civics.  Low gas prices, they build Accuras.

Chuck...I'll call Mrs. Blueberry and tell her why you need a layout in the living room.  Don't worry you will be out of your misery in short order after my phone call. Big Smile [:D]

Evening all,

On night shift, jobs passed out and all are busy for now.  We need to get some training out of the way later, and it is not the fun kind of training!

We got some rain last night, you can almost hear the ground soak it up.  I was nice when I woke up this afternoon.  Took some pics for SPF and put them in photobucket.

Chuck, Wes and Chief - Take it easy on those legs now.

God bless

2 weeks until york for Buckeye and me.  I can't wait.  I"m not packed...I don't have that many pair of jeans to spare.

The wife wants to get a cabin down in the  Hocking Hills, but they are all booked through October already.  I guess I'll book for next year.

Night!

Evening gents.  Dr. visit went OK but I think after waiting an hour and a half he could spend more than 4 minutes with me.  I was thinking this would be a thorough and well as the time stamp tells it was not.  I'm looking for another dr.  Again.

Some construction on the junction.  I leave you with this picture.

RT.......that was Sir James that had the sleep test.  I already flunked mine.  You'll probably be off line for a day or two, so my prayers your hot streak continues.

Sir James......I thought this was a sleep test.  Not an exercise in S & M.  Sounds like it was exciting.  Hope your kickstand kept you from falling out of bed. CLINICAL CONCLUSION: YUP, YOU CAN SLEEP.  THAT'LL BE $3,500, CASH OR CHECK. Brutus, Kurt, and the rest of us can't wait to catch the video on YouTube.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Marty......I don't think there really are any doctors, just nurse practitioners, med techs, and receptionists.  I hadn't seen a Doctor between a 2000 back issue and a 2007 plumbing exam, despite all my physicals, tests, and medical maladies in the interim.  I did get a phone call once.  Is a mortician a Doctor?  Maybe I'll get to see one then.

DougM......Congas on the White Sox victory and playoff birth.  Can't wait until the Cubs square off against the Red Sox for all the marbles.  How am I supposed to pick a team to support in that one?  Like trying to pick between Catherine Zeta Jones or Cindy Crawford.

Ray/SPMan......patch is off, I presume.  So how ya doin'? Pirate [oX)]  BTW, Chief's grits come smothered in red eye gravy......makes Hostess Twinkies sound like health food.

Chuck....cut up onions, smash in an empty water glass, put eyes over opening.  Let nose run.  Then go tell wife how depressed you are over the absence of trains in your life.  She may fall for the tears and issue you a train occupancy permit for the living room.  Safer than the approach the others are suggesting.

Chief has become a slacker with his posts.  What's more important?  His job?  His family?  His health?  Or us?  I think his Presidential campaign has become too time consuming.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  We are on a roll!  "My" soccer girls won again last night 2-0, and the JV tied 0-0.  That is three varsity games in a row without a loss.  Maybe it has to do with scheduling, maybe they are starting to get the concept, and maybe (as Jack suggested) they are tired of losing.  In any event, the timing could not be better as they are headed to sectional in two weeks.  They have a rough game Thursday but hopefully a winnable game on Saturday to end the regular season.  I did some Second Life as well last night.   Watched a little of "Dancing with the Stars" last night.  Cloris Leachman is still hanging in there.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning and it is headed to "Points East".  It was a wild night on the Tardis as well with the banilla and zuchinni bread all over the place.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 57 this AM in the Mid-Atlantic region, possible dri-zzel-ly later.  Starting 2 weeks of R&R (yeah right...).  Don't know whether to paint outside or not...Confused [%-)]  Wifey wants RAVENS stuff down and Halloween stuff out.  Littlest princess whipped me up some more foliage, so if it rains, not a bad thing.

Yesterday was a long day in Philadelphia.  We (I'm guessing nearly 4000 PD&FD) gathered at STS Peter & Paul to take home a slain brother.  There was a big-screen moniter outside that had a slide show of Pat's life, as well as the service inside.  The big fountain outside city hall was shooting up blue (dye?) water.  Philly's mounted division (Clydesdales) were posted across from the church's main doors.  When the honor guard posted up along the street, the combined units of IRISH THUNDER and POLICE & FIRE PIPES & DRUMS came around the corner in a sway-step...man, that was class.  My partner and I traveled with the Honor Guard...now, I'll be honest, my thoughts of Philly were never that pleasant, but we were absolutely blown away by the outpouring of affection and support by the citizens who lined the interstates, then the main road into Bensalem to the cemetary, waving banners and American flags.  We felt priviledged to have taken part in this precession.  I had hoped to somehow catch up with PhilaKnight, but there were just too many boots on the ground.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Another overcast and damp 48 degrees.

RockIsland I was thinking about the cost of that test as I was being wired, Medicare and B/C better cover that or I'll be owing them for a long time. If that were the case they should know and advise.

I'm not sure about train-n today, but a quick trip to the  local mall is planned. Have you noticed the new trend is all outdoor stores, some of these places are so big that in nasty weather you would want to move your car to get closer to where you want to go next.  I'm thinkin the mall owners eliminate the utility cost completely. Good idea on their part, bad for shoppers.

Have a great day all.........S.J.

Hey guys,

Just to drop in for a minute.  Been too busy, working.  (Don't know if making any progress or not, though).  Did get both of my BB's back and they are running great.  So is Legacy and DCS, so alls good in the train room.

Havn't read all the previous posts, but HOPE everyone is doing well.

Only new information I know is, I had some issues with our train club, and think that is now history as far as I'm concerned.  Oh well, good while it lasted.

Take care and have a great day!!

Morning all, Not much going on except trying to find cheaper places to buy meds.  Can you say Canada?

Jack, The eye patch has been off for some time now.  My eye is doing very well.  I can see better with the eye that was operated on than the other one.  Still have to avoid bending over at the waist for two more weeks which keeps me out of my train layout with duck unders.  Why did'nt I build lift outs over thirty years ago?  Well I have never been accused of rushing into anything.  Hindsight is 20/20.  Have to go to DMV to renew drivers license tomorrow.  I'll let you know if I pass the eye test.

Just read a post on another thread about train smoke.  I have COPD so I have to avoid it.  I like to see it but it's not worth it without good ventilation.  Had to give up participation in DCS display layout at Cal Stewart meets for the same reason.

Where is our wondering "Chief"?  I think he is having entirely too much fun.  Hope his leg is better though.

My sister is in surgery today on the East Coast for lung cancer.  I called last night and she is in good spirits.  They say they got it early.  I hope so.

RT, the reason for so many heart problems in the South is all the unhealthy YANKEES moving sown here.  Never had grits, fried county ham, redeye gravy, lots of eggs, sawmill gravy, sausage gravy, country style steak with gravy and SOUTHERN fried chicken with rice and gravy or mashed potatoes with gravy.  Throw in some turnip greens, string beans, butter beans, and collards all seasoned with ham hock or side meat.

Rock, my Dr. is a lady.  She is about 20 years younger than me and we have been sweathearts since we met.  She did not laugh at how I hurt my leg.  She does love my jokes.  Sent me to get ultrasound on leg.  Told me that, if I had a clot, would have to go immediately to ER.  Told her I would not answer my cell.  Got it and tech told me I was fine.  Cell rings while in route to Lake House.  ID's Dr. G.  Crackle, crackle noise and "I think it is breaking up."  She breaks up.  Then tells me I fine.  We kid like that all the time.  She saved my life.  I was driving and had pneumonia.  Would cough and almost pass out.  She saw me in the hall at her practice [had come in for a skin test] and ordered me into a room.  Did blood ox and it was so low I was suppose to be passed out.  She screamed at me and called EMS.  Had me transported across the street [yes just across the street] to the hospital by ambulance.  When I got to my room, put on IV and oxygen.  Started more coughing and passed out several times due to lack of oxygen.

Back from the lake.  Rested leg Monday.  Did lots of wiring to boat storage shed yesterday.  Installed motion detecter under car port for Pam [dark spot as boat shed shelters it from security light on pole].  Brought golf cart home today for buddy in Rolesville to check over.  Yes, we have a golf cart company in Rolesville.

Now to pack for trip just north of Richmond VA for BPS grand opening.  Drvie up tomorrow and back Sunday afternoon.  Will have laptop so can keep those Yanks at bay.

Later

SPMan, good new - hope she gets well.  RT, it's the buscuits that get you Wink [;)] the rest goes through so fast it can't clog you up!  Chief, glad your leg is going to be okay, hope the swelling goes down.  Did they do the doppler ultrasound on it?  I heard some really loud snoring from the afterdeck of the Tardis last night, I think Sir James fell asleep early!  Mike, you did a great job flying last night, thanks for the bread too!  Don - sorry to hear about that, hope things are going okay otherwise?

Fife, I too have a lot of bad feelings for lots of Philly, but when they lost 6 guys in a high-rise fire back in the late 80s/early 90s, myself and a few others from HFD went down to the funerals (they sent a contingent to us when we lost 5 guys on the job), anyway, they were a class act.  Lots of times, FD and PD have disputes, but times like that, we all come together.  Glad there was a good showing for a brother.

Chief, glad that the scan came back OK.  I was worried when your leg started to swell after the injury.  Gotta be carefull.  That is what happened to the NBC reporter who went over to Iraq to cover the war.  From the long flight, he got a DVT (Leg Clot) that got to his lungs and killed him.  Good luck at the grand opening.  While there, you may want to check on a deal on a digital game camera set up that you can mount near the lake house.  If someone comes by that you don't want, you will have a photo of them.

Buckeye, I had won a bunch of old train magazines on a auction lately.  While going through some older OGR issues, I found several on a layout called the "Buckeye R.R.", up your way.  Guy has some neat ideas and I hope to use a few on my scenery soon.  So, you see, something good can come from Ohio.....

Hope everyone has a great night.  I am still stuck here at the hospital.  Have to make some rounds and then, I hope to head home.  Family will be asleep by the time I get there.  Think they are getting used to it....I found my photo on the back of a milk carton.

God Bless,
Dennis

OK, one more thing.  Awhile back, someone posted a web site for a department store that had some Kline plymouth sets on sale.  I can't remember the name of the store.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
