Hey Jack, thanks for the suggestion.  I have read the owner's manual and unfortuneatly, she don't like the cheap stuff for very long.  They suggest only getting a quarter tank of the cheap stuff till you can find 91+ octane.  With the situation the way it is, I filled up and while it won't run as smooth, it will run.  I took the kids to lunch and then to the park to play.  On the way home, I found a place with the high grade and will stop there later.

Time to get the crumb snatchers some dinner and then get them bathed.  Train time after that.  Will read a little more on the '46 Lionel offerings and then get the rest done.

Chief, hope that your weekend has been good.  Also, hope that you have kept away from hammers.
God Bless,

Dennis

Evening all well got a NYC GP-9 with TMCC in today I'm guessing its one of the first TMCC locos as its from 1996. It runs and sounds great. no coil couplers and no crew talk thou. Does have railsounds and horn and bell. Need to get pics of it and my C&O Chessie and MY NS that I've gotten in, in the last 2 weeks and put them in Sunday Photo fun. Guess I will be selling my Williams GP-9 B&O and either my 671RR or my 681 either way will keep the 2671 tender for the one I keep and let the 2046W go with the one I sell. have a few others in mind to go also as there just sitting. May try to make up a set with track and transformer so somebody can have a starter set. I have a more that I'm going to let go just have to dig them out as haven't been using them .

well friday at work went up to cardioligy and ask them when there going to get there heart cath lab up and running (there having it modernized) and they said its ready now but have to train everyone on the new equipment so mid november befor there acually using it. They asked why and told them of my problem and that I was having problem with transportation as if something happened and i had to stay overnight I wouldn't have a ride back next day well I was told you come in monday and talk with our case worker we will get you there and back don't worry about a thing. ( just so you all understand I won't be able to drive and wife doesn't drive because of her eye sight but isn't classed as legaly blind.)

Well not a lot happening I need to go take some drugs and guess need to take some pics so I can post tomorrow morning on the thread.

Good evening all,

It was a cloudy and cooler than expected day in SE Indiana with temps maybe in the low 70s eventually.  "My" soccer girls are on a roll with a two game non-losing streak, tying today 1-1.  The boys lost 4-0 and then I reffed a youth league game after that.  The first half of that was 0-0 and one of the best played of the season, but the second half got a little out of control and I had to "yellow card" one of the kids.  Lucas came home last night for high school homecoming and we may get to see him some tomorrow.

Some sad news.  A great race driver and car owner (and not a bad actor, either), Paul Newman, passed away today.  He will be missed.

I had waffles and cereal on the dining car this morning.  I hope every one has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Surviving HS Homecoming weekend. The team we played last night as not very good and we felt sorry for the other team - score was 30-0 before the end of the first quarter. Our coach tried to stop our team from scoring further by doing things like trying a FG on 4th down instead of going for 1st down. Took out the 1st and 2nd string players. My son and daughter are having a great homecoming weekend. Everyone is dressed like it is the senior prom. Just got back from chaperoning my son's freshman group dinner and find my daughter's senior group is here hanging around the house until the dance starts at 9.

RT - hope they get you all fixed up my friend.

GP60 - welcome to the C'Pot!

Should be another nice day tomorrow. High 80's, no rain in sight.

Gas has not been a big problem here - but we are closer to the refineries. I saw a news blurb the other night that the problem is restarting some of the refineries and getting the big pipelines that run from the Gulf Coast into the Atlanta area refilled and operational.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Kurt and Sir James, I'm in - Tardis is ready.  I see Laz has parked for the night on the scope.  Jack, Chief's Summer House is not showing up, might be running a kerosene beacon?  Those don't shine bright enough Laugh [(-D]  Dennis, I hope things work out better gas wise soon!  They did a little piece on Kirk Cameron and Fireproof on some show I saw late the other night, but they were making fun of both - they make fun of everything and everyone, so that's probably a good thing!  If they liked them, I might be worried?!  I think it is called TMZ?

RT - sorry I missed your call, we were eating out at Culvers with in-laws, they are visiting tonight and going to a reunion picnic tomorrow.  I'm online while they watch a movie with their grandkids.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Lucy, I'm HOME!!!!!!! [remember that line from I Love Lucy?]

So you all think I have been at the Lake House all this time.  It is a launching place for raids behind enemy lines up Nawth.  I sliiped through MERRYLAND and made it up to MA and stole some Maple Syurp.  Then through Penny and got a few pumpkins.  Over to Ohizo and sprayed pixy dust on Buckeye's Graden RR.  Flew in to Californication and raided Shake and Bake's El Camino.  On the way back, sliped into Ioway, stole some hogs [smelled like Jon's feet] and ended up in Checargo for a meal.   Blows dem Yankee pickets' minds.  I am launching out of good Ole' Verginie.

Dr. Dennis.  Leg looks 100% better but started swelling from knee to toes on Thurday evening.  Swolen real bad now.  ??????  Xray shows only tissue damage.  Maybe too much standing while painting and etc.

Got my new CTT before I left and did NOT get to read a word of it nor look at pictures.  Worked and slept.  Ordered satellite internet service.  Then canceled it this AM.  Seemed good no emails.  My pesonal cell works there most of the time.  Town's Nextel does not work unitl I get to Lowe's in Henderson [20 miles from house].  Do have Direct TV.  Dennis, it has RFD-TV.

Wife has to teach "old ladies" class tomorrow morning.  She wanted to wash and dry some clothes before we left.  Ended up leaving at 9 PM.  Then it rained hard most of the way back [54 miles].  She followed with the kids [dogs].  Got home and big limb out of big oak tree in drive and peacans all over the back pad.  Must have been a windy one.  Had only 145 emails to go through and 9 messages on machine.   Plan on going back Monday and come back Tuesday night.  Off to Richmond VA to do a Bass Pro Shops Grand Opening Thursday through Sunday afternoon.  Have seen only one station with no gas.  Price has actually dropped since Wednesday.

Off to bed.  God bless.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' Chief!  Were you gone or somethin'?  Raining and 70 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Survived reunion (rained all flippin' day), as well as ride up and back.  Tuesday will be heading to Philadelphia to "send one home".

PhilaKnight - got your PM, but for some reason won't let me return.  Thanks for the update.

dougnotta - Funny thing happened on the way up to Littlestown...whlle driving up 140 we pass the cemetary where wifey's mother is burried (some 20 years ago).  She turned to the girl's and stated,"Wave hi to Grandma!"  At that very moment a gold Pontiac pulls up beside us with an old gal driving.  All 3 princesses excited,"In the car next to us, but we thought..."Dunce [D)]  Things were lighter from that moment on...

Good Morning from beautiful Southern Ohio,

Working dayshift and the assignments are passed out the guys are getting rounds done.  Some quiet time before getting started.

I won a "played with" 356 on the bay, and I am trying to decide how to refurbish it.  I'm thinking about doing it as a 350 Royal Blue as in CTT an issue or two back or as a 353 Circus Train loco.  Already have two Blues, and no Circus Train, I'll have some time to decide, leaning tward the Circus Train makeover.  The originals are really high $$$$$.  In SPF I posted a pic of a Matchbox Bluebird Camper I refurbed.  I stripped the pink paint and painted it chrome to look like an Airstream!  I'm working up an idea for a campground somewhere on the layout.

Fife-Glad you stayed out of trouble at the in-law family reunion, sounds like you had as much fun as Buckeye did at the dentist!  What if "grandma" had been a 20 something bombshell?

DougM - You are a great Dad.  It is obvious that you take your father role seriously.  Your kids are VERY fortunate, even though they don't realize it now.

Jack - How did the car thing come out?

May God bless

Jim

Morning Jim, RT, Fife - guess Chief is sleeping in today?  56 degrees outside and supposed to hit 81.  Cooler weather is coming too.  Enjoy that end of the Summer.  Hope Laz is getting to the fish today, I think that was the plan?  Kurt, thanks for the wine - hadn't had any in a long time.  Allergic for some reason, but not to beer or etc?  So, it must be an additive in some wines, I think.  I don't know what it is or which ones have it though, so I generally have given it up except for white zinfandel occasionally.  I used to really enjoy a nice Beajoulais (sp?) or Pinot Noir years ago.  The Sundaes at Sir James' house were great as usual.

Checked Lionel shipping schedule - supposedly, my witches brew car ships in September.  Good luck at this point!  My switcher is now listed for October?  John Bull still for December.  Other than that, I remain on train restrictions Sad [:(]

GOOD MORNING ALL

I see what's his name is back so that means three pages a day again. It was easy reading everything on just one page. Overcast and maybe 70,but doesn't look all that great right now. I'm not sure about what today will bring, there is no Lions game so how will I fall asleep on the couch? Maybe try watching golf, that might do it. Have a great day...TTFN....S.J.

Mornin' Folks !

Happy days here, the Padres won last nite so now they CAN'T end the the season with 100 losses. Clown [:o)]

Chief is back, hadn't realized he was gone. I'll just blame it on short term memory loss.

Jack, you gettin ready for some more rain up your way ? At least you miss the worst of the storms with it heading more to Nova Scotia.

RT, Saw your post in the SPF, don't be in to big a hurry to get rid of your conventional locos. Before you decide be sure to check out the possible addition of a TPC to your power/control system. It gives you the option of running your conventional stuff with the CAB-1 and it can be set so that you can stop a loco at a station for example and not have to go thru the N-R-N-F routine to get it going again. Those locos, Chessie & NS, are real sweet.

Afternoon all.  Did sleep until time to get ready for Sunday School.  Watched Church on TV.  Resting leg.  Marty E, not flying much anymore.  Driving to Richmond VA.  Driving to Columbia SC.  Tried to get me to work CA but told them no as was busy [use to would have jumped on that one].  My understanding is BPS store was way up north CA so could not harass Shake and Bake nor Dougsntta.

Rock, tried to send you a little present but jet stream pushed it off shore.  Will try harder next time.  All you are getting is some rain. Confused [%-)]

Better check pond as not been home for a week.  2 1.2 inches of rain too.  Then run trains for a while.  Get ready to go back to lake tomorrow and run Ranger and catch a few.

Later.

Just got back from train show where I met up with Carl/Choochin.  Picked up a K-Line C&O Wide Vision caboose, and a set of pewter figures.  Also ran into an ol' buddy who is now a RR policeman.  Great gig if you can get it,but long hours.

Doug theres a couple I want to keep and I have the powerMaster so I can run them. And the 681 is the main one I'll probally keep as it has a 2671W tender with it so it looks sweet pulling the PA. Passenger cars (by rail king)

But for the rest basicly if I can get my price I'll let them go as they just sit on a shelf or in the closet. I hope to get more scale size engines and cars most I have are the old O27 cars there great but smaller I'am thou tooking for a chocolate brown PA box car semi scale I guess to go with the Passenger cars as I remember them when I was growing up it seem I always saw a boxcar or two behind the engine then the mail and baggage cars and then the passenger and dinning cars. ( Grew up in PA. ) My only problem thou is that I probally have more train than I have straight away LOL.

But even if I just put it up on a shelf that goes around a corner it will be impresive to see it sitting there that line up.

I have to go thru all I still have as I did reduce a lot when I was leaving TN. But still have a GP-9 B&O, 2 RS3's southerns one power one dummy that I added whistle and bell to. 6 southern Passenger cars to go with the RS3's that are made by Lionel bought them brand new in 2006 and only been out of box to sit on shelf behind the RS3's lol. Bunch of $10.00 freight cars about 15 to 20 of them some probally even less. Just have to pull everything out and relook at what I really want to keep and what I don't not sure yet may even still keep the 671RR and break the PA passenger set into 2 trains. Nothing is firm yet.

By the way anybody hear from our N.C. girl Lisa lately? been wondering about her.

Wecome back Commodore Eagles, commander of the Lake Eagles fleet.  Thanks for sending Kyle up here, but I don't swing that way.

Fife.....re family reunions, my attire is not complete without duck tape for my mouth and ear plugs.  Keeps me out of jail.

JimPhish....re the car repair, Gunfight at the OK Corral is tomorrow.  Got a boost of adrenaline with Sir James' post.  As Butch Cassidy quipped (RIP Paul Newman), "We'll just outlast the b_s_a_d_!"

RT......why hang on to stuff you don't run, you don't have a passion for, or items you have no nostalgia-based reasons to keep?  Are they rare or hard to find?  I like your approach.  Thin the herd and add back in some new blood.  BTW, re the honey-do list, play the Doctor card.

SJ.....did my best to keep the page and post volume up in Chief's absence.  Have to admit, he can't be replaced.  That comment will go straight to his head to match his swollen leg.

Chuck......great news.  Admire your patience.  Reread the Butch Cassidy quip above.

DougDG..... you got it right.  We're floating in the NE with more rain from Kyle in the forecast, albeit not severe as we are on the western edge.  I measured 6 inches so far since Friday morning with one of SJ's Maxwellhouse analog rain gauges versus the tally from the meteorologists at 4."  Need to recalibrate this thing.  Maybe changing from the Columbian model to French roast will help.

Wonder if Laz slept with the fishes last night.

Later,

Jack

Chief,  Not to be an alarmist, but you may want to get that leg checked out for a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).  They can do it with a doppler study just to make sure that you don't have anything to worry about.  With your leg injury and amount of time in the car, it could be a problem.

Just checking in quickly.  Kids are playing the Wii and wife is working.  Have to get back to church in just a little bit.  They are supposed to give us a update on the movie.  From what I hear, it sounds like things have gone quite well.

I am cooking brownies for SWMBO for when she gets home.  She will be here before we get back from church.  Funny occurance this morning.  She was getting ready for work and I felt the mattress move just after she left the room.  Dog had jumped up, laid down where bride was with his head on her pillow.  She comes back in the room to see where he had taken her spot.  Smart dog....bed's a lot more comfortable than the floor.

Well, I will check out SPF and get back to the honey do list and off to church.  I hope that everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Evening all. Thanks for the kind words, Jim. Nice day vid-directing at church. Quiet afternoon watching football without sound and reading the paper. Tried to puzzle out powerwasher I borrowed - runs off 6 hp engine that I haven't been able to start yet. Will try it again later this week.  Today's probably last warmish day of the season - time to put away the summer clothes. Bride and teens back at church for their services (bride leads their prayer team), so next is dinner for the youngest and me. Then train-running and bath for him before bed.

Good evening All

RI52- I think everyone was posting in HIS absence, it just didn't take eye chart lettering to do it.

We had another nice day and boy I savor each one now. No trains today, watched TV did some small chores and then studied for tomorrow nites sleep test. It seems a little weird knowing someone is going to watch you sleep. I wonder if they will give us Viagra so we won't roll out of bed. Well I'll know tomorrow nite. Brutus I gots de banilla and hot fudge so fire up the thingy.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  I cleaned out the barn so we can lay some new gravel in it.  Watched "Desperate Housewives" tonight.  Not sure if I like the five year jump.  Vettel was 5th in STR today so another good showing.  Welcome back, Chief.  I see your journeys did not include the great Hoosier state so we are GRITS free for a while longer.  Tried to do some more "work" work unsuccessfully.  Lucas went back to school.  I had bacon, toast and cereal on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Dennis.....had to laugh at the unexpected company you got in bed.

Wife usually hits the sack before I do, and I try to retire in stealth mode so as not to awaken her.  The other night I felt my way in the dark to the bed and sat down.  When I reached for the blankets, my hand landed on something warm and furry.  125 pounds of Doberman Duke, on my side of the bed of course, head on pillow.

Duke knows he's not allowed on the bed uninvited.  So he waits until wife is asleep and slinks onto the bed like a snake so as not to give himself away.  It's hilarious.  He also tries to do it when he thinks both of us are asleep.  When you tell him "off," he looks at you with those "Aren't I cute?" eyes.  When that doesn't work, he gives us the Alfred E Neumann "Who, me?" look, then glances around as if to see who we are evicting since it can't possibly be him.

If I went to sleep on a piece of cold granite covered with broken glass, the dog would eventually join me.  This breed gets a bad rap.  As I said in another post, there are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners.

Sir James...... re Chief being font-challenged, AMEN.  Grits bad for the eyes?

MikeC......did you actually get to see Lucas, or was it just a Lucas sighting when you were paying the tab at the grocery store? Big Smile [:D]

Sir James, just watch out for the good looking nurses!  Wink [;)]  You'll be fine and we'll "talk" on Tuesday.  Banilla sounds good to me, on the way!

Cold weather moving in tomorrow!  Picked up a toy train mag at Borders while kiddos were getting books earlier today, then moved stuff around in the garage and set up two shelf units I got for free.  Wife doesn't like it, of course Sad [:(]

Where is Miss Lisa and also Misty?

Hope Laz is having fun.  Sounds like things are doing well in Chicago, Michigan, Texas, Florida and California...  Say, where's Don?

Good night Chief - wake up and go to bed Laugh [(-D]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
