Waiting for the rain to come. Weather is supose to get bad with rain and high winds. No rain yet but thier is alot of wind. It's a good day to work on the layout. The bench work is pretty much done. I just have to buy the Homosote and lay it down. But I have to go to Home Depot cause I know as soon as I walk out the store that when the rain is going to pour.

Just ordered a Lionel Pennsy 0-8-0 engine, can't wait till it gets here. I hate the anticipation. But it should not be long I ordered it in state.

Dennis--

Just watched the "Fireproof" trailer again, it's be a while since I've looked at it. Looks like we will take the movie in this weekend as I'm going to be gone the next five weekends on the marching band judging circuit. Years ago we were a presenting couple for Marriage Encounter, great experience for us and those couples attending so I don't think we want to miss this movie. Thanks for the heads up.

So the day begins with me calling a colleague to express my condolences for the loss of his wife due to brain aneurism.  Not the best way to start the day.

At noon took the car back to the shop to complain about something and realized I had no money in wallet.  I had to use the GPS to find a bank where they would not charge me an outrageous service charge to use the bank card.

I head back to office, pop a piece of candy in my mouth and "crack" a tooth breaks.  Rush to dentist and he puts on a temporary crown.

Back to work and I get a phone call.  All the auger type light pole foundations have been stolen from the job site.   So it goes............

Is it Friday yet, LAZ?

Thanks everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers concerning my friend's situation.

Buckeye sounds like we are in the same boat. Mine started Saterday. Wife had to go to the Hospital with a severe absese from a bad tooth (She looked like the Elephant Man) They drained hit and said it had to come out ASAP. Sunday little guy got sick with a fever of 102 and he went to the Doc's. He's been sick all week. Monday wife goes to the dentist he says he can't pull it cause it's to close to the sinuses. She has to go to a oral surgen and the only one that could do it ASAP doen't take my insurance. Tuesday lost a colleague at work. Wensday tooth finally comes out, she stops crying from the pain in her mouth and I start crying from the pain the 600 dollers the dentist pulled out of my pocket. So far today ain't that bad. Just the little guy is cranky from being sick and it sounds like murder when we try to give him his medicine. So hope this makes you feel not alone or maybe even a little better.

Evenin' boys.  Blustery, wet & 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Still was able to cook bar-b-que ribs on the grill, then marshymallows with youngest princess.  Gonna get but butt kicked on X-box by son in a little bit.

I'm feeling the call-of-the-sea lately.  Today, I was patrolling past a marina and saw a sloop that had to be the sister of the FRIENDSHIP up in Burlington.  It was in dry-dock, and apparently had had a run-in with a barge on the C&D canal.  Needed a lotta love.  Perhaps I'll buy a lottery ticket this week.Pirate [oX)]

RockIsland52, sorry about your wife's kidney stone.  Hope she has passed it by now.  I used to think that men had those more than women but I guess we all get it.  I have been there, done that several times over the years.  It is the worst pain I ever had.  On a brighter note, I had the cataract surgery on Tuesday, went to the doctor yesterday for patch removal.  He says everything looks real good.  It will be blurry for a few days before I can focus.  Meantime eyedrops three times a day and eye sheild at night to keep my hands out of the eye when sleeping.  Take care, Ray

Jack....Please give the Mrs. a big hug from Buckeye.  Unfortunately, I know exactly what a kidney stone feels like as it moves.  Drink, drink, drink.  I have had five of those babies blasted.

Evnin', ya'll,

Big storms brewing with 4-6 inches of rain forecast for the next 24 hours and windy.  Wife has risen from the dead with the kidney stone issue, but we were told she may not yet be in the clear.  Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.  "Worse than childbirth" as she described the pain to the Doctor.  How tough can that be? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Buckeye.....I was going to share some aggravating car repair story that lit me up today.  But you took the anger right out of me with the day you had.  Wasn't aware the Lord declared 9/25/08 pick-on-Buckeye day.  Re the broken tooth, a lot of the younger guys on the Pot may not realize there was a day when there was no fluoride in the water, no fluoride in the toothpaste, no fluoride in the mouthwash, no such thing as floss, and no mandatory annual dentist visits before they would let you in school each September.  Hence later issues they may never experience.  Your collegue's loss of his wife, can't imagine what one could say that would have been of any consolation.

DonB.....re the Bank bouncing, not far from the truth based on the recent events.  Amazing how sudden the size and scope of all this stuff this came up.  And how quickly they need decisions on a $750 billion bailout, culpability determined, and corrective measures whipped together.  You and I would be in jail in a heartbeat, not discussing incentive bonuses and golden parachutes.  The media images of employees packing up their desks nauseates and angers me.  Yet another financial burden our generation passes on to our offspring.

PhilaKnight......hope the little guy has turned the corner and is feeling better, and the wife's dental issue has been mitigated.  You should be able to secure reimbursement directly from the carrier if the circumstances are explained.  This was not a matter of choice.  Emergency situations supercede the basic "participating provider" scenario.  Also, not positive, but this may be considered a medical procedure, not dental.  If you can, have your Human Resources Benefits specialist be your advocate.  That's what they get paid to do.

SPMan......that's great news re your surgery.  Can't wait to hear the even better news in a few days.  You seem to be typing quite well with the patch. Pirate [oX)]

Dennis.....best wishes for a wonderful evening with the First Lady of the household on her birthday. Happy B-day, Mrs. Dennis. Happy B-Day [bday]  Based on your work hours lately, it might be a good idea to reintroduce yourself.  She may have forgotten who you are. Wink [;)]

Well I'm going to start out with the good news and that is I went to biling in the V.A. as I've been getting these notice's from my insurance company that they paid this and they paid that and my portion to my provider is XXX.XX ect ect well I haven't gotten any bills from the VA seem as long as my provider pays over what my deductable is at the VA I end up paying $0.00 and then some more checking because of how much ( should say how little ) I make as long as I use the VA I'll never have a co pay as long as I don't make more than $30,000.00 a year. (and that gets adjusted every year acually I think right now its like $31,413 or something like that)

Now I have a doctors appointment for monday am I asked for a eye exam and I ended up with a doctors appointment and need to do blood work again think will call tomorrow and see if I can't get doctor to call me and get this straightened out.

Then come thursday I need to be in augusta, GA by 6:30 am for my heart cath and then I can't drive for 3 days and can't go back to work for a week at least. Well I have enough vacation time to cover the week so will be okay if thats all that last.  Still working on getting there and back. Have one idea and all but worked out but going to check into seeing if the VA can get me there and back.

Other than that not to much going on.

All seems well here so far.

rt, nothing is as much fun as fighting with insurance companies, good luck to you on that as well as on your other health problems.

All the best to others with health problems.  Sounds like there is a lot of it going around.

Wes, Take care or you might have to rent a scooter to get around at York.  They do have a rental concession for handicap scooters, no joke.  BTW only 21 days to go. Thumbs Up [tup]

If anyone missed it, the reason it is so quiet from Roseyville is that the Chief is at the Lake house this week with no internet connection.Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Good evening all

We had a beautiful 82 today, not many of those left for around here, if any. A very cruel day for our "pot" friends, For just a small group of folks there sure is enough misery to go around. Lets hope for better days ahead. I got the grass cut today but not trimmed, going to try and do it tomorrow. No trains, trying to take in the last of summer, I have been reading CTT though, does that still count? Brutus banilla is ready but stock is getting low, we should make it through tonite....S.J.

Buckeye:  Sorry to hear about your loss.

Found a new wine shop in Ann Arbor...small, but nice.  Everyday Wine.  Most for about $13.  Their first pick is a white table wine from Italia...very nice.  Not sure how I dirtied all those dishes...but dinner went well.

I'm in for banilla and a looping tardis excursion.  We have some drumstick ice cream nut fudge, cone thingie, to suppliment.

No fighting here if they make my payment $0.00 I'm happy oh forgot i do have to pay $8.00 for each prescription I get filled.

Now on it being quiet didn't really notice no chief but did notice it was quiet. guess he needs to get that hand crank genarator going so he can have some TV and internet. But guess it would get tiredsome seeing I think its 4 cranks for each minute of useWhistling [:-^]

Ditto...hope things improve for everyone soon!

Looking forward to York. John - sounds like you are ready! We'll have to show Buckeye where the Grits are at!

Another nice day here. High 80's and same for a few more days.

Kids HS homecoming weekend coming up. I booked the reservations for the two groups my kids worked up - over 30 kids at Texas Land & Cattle (what else - we are in Texas). Plus with the the adults of the kids (so we can pay!), we booked another 12. Gonna be a busy weekend!

Doug/Laz - kids here do not need a fishing license until they are 16.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Early mornin' fellas.

Up late watching OSU (not the Buckeyes) beat USC!

Prayers are out for everyone who needs them... looks like the board members are in for a long rough stretch again.

Stopped at a hobby store today and picked up some Woodland Scenics Scenery Cement. Hope to get started on a projec this weekend since the PSU game isn't on till 8pm and SusieQ offered to help me with it. She's been in Billings, MT the last few days and I have to admit I haven't gotten a thing done around the house... guess I miss the little lady. Smile [:)]

Speaking of car repairs. I forgot to tell you guys that I hit a deer on my way to work about a week ago. No damage to the car so was lucky there, still bums me out to think about it.

Thank you guys all for your encouragement.  Wife back to feeling near normal.  Wes, I think the stone blasters are called lithotriptors, they shatter the stones using ultrasound and are used when the stones won't pass after using dissolving meds.  Her CT was negative, thankfully none of the sickers in sight.  Wife laying on couch: "Jack, can you get my sweatshirt?  Jack, I'm still cold, can you get me a blanket?  Jack, I need some pillows, can you get me some?" (first 3 of many runs, up and down the stairs, must make a note to install elevator).  Then the needs got predictable, made two runs out, one to get ice cream and another to get M&Ms.  If I had half a brain, would have anticipated better and picked up the M&Ms on the first trip.  Hmmmm, you don't think she's........nah, couldn't be, could it? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

BTW, Doberman Duke's lameness has disappeared, so vet suggests watch instead of surgery.  Thanks for your kind thoughts. Thumbs Up [tup]

Reading Buckeyes' post of his day's events was like watching Rocky Balboa taking one shot after another in the corner.  Still standing, so he went the distance.  Broken tooth instead of a broken nose.

RT.....if I didn't live half way to the North Pole from you, I'd blast down and take you myself.  After the important stuff, we could take a wrong turn and road-trip it to Chief's lakeside chalet.  He gave us all the address, and I've got Nav.  Wouldn't he be surprised?  None of Roseyville's finest around to pull us over for having Yank license plates.  Would Chief make us eat grits?  Wonder if we would have to bunk in the tractor shed?

Roy.....so you are kinda going to the HS homecoming events.  Sounds kinky.

Wes and Chuck......keep it slow on those knee issues.  Ice and elevation helped me quite a bit post op.  Other than swelling, range of motion will be your challenge short term, Wes.  The rest of us were encouraged todays' reports from you two were more positive.  My dog takes some joint supplements that contain, among other things, chondroitin and glucosamine, which are supposed to help cartilage resiliency and lubrication inside the sinovial sack (help, Dennis!).  $72 for 250 pills, and at Duke's size he's on 4 a day.  Kinda like lubing an old postwar, I guess.  I'd take some of the pills myself but they are liver flavored.

DonB and DougDG.....been at least a week since the last California train disaster.  What's wrong?  Doug, do you need those Evelyn Woods Speed Reading Dynamics coupons?

DougM.....are son's calls to former/future GF a toll call?  Bet the broken up pair are spending 4 times more air time yakking.  If so, your next phone bill will be higher than the mortgage payment.  And he'll forget the next math test as well. "The Young And The Senseless."  Better you than me. Big Smile [:D]

Off to bed.  I'm dead.

Jack

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI and MSGLA....breaking news....stop the presses....."My" soccer girls WON!  They woke up from a season long slumber and pounded another team they had lost to earlier in the season.  "We" won 4-0 and and I can say "We" to a certain extent because I told one of the players another girl was wide open.  Pass was made, and ball in the net for an early lead.  The other team tried to get fancy on an indirect kick and one of our kids just snuck in and took off down the field with it.  She made one pass to a striker and bang! into the net.  Even one of the freshman made a goal.  The JV tied their game 0-0 so it was a good night even tho the boys lost on the road.  It sure made up for the day at work where everything turned to hash.  Ditto what Laz said.  Glad to hear "Points East" moving around some more.

In other news, Vitor Meira will be driving for AJ Foyt next year.  Maybe he can get #14 back in Victory Circle.  I hate to see Manning leave as he done the best of the Foyt drivers for several years.  I had the usual fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keeo on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all

Been a while since I posted to the pot.  Haven't been keeping up.  Been working the lat few weeks all over the country but we are settled in here at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

Going in for a physical on Tuesday next week.  A friend and co-worker here suffered a heart attack.  He was in good shape and exercised.  Needless to say my exercise has been very intermittent due to work so I thought I should get checked.

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'll see some of you at York I hope.
