Raining.  Windmill fan down, flags in, hanging baskets down, boat covers tied down [even though they are under the shed], patio umbrella down and greenhouse closed up.  Pond should fill if the rain comes as predicted 4 to 6 inches.  Train times.  Later.

Chief, hope you get through this one unscathed.  Looking like a couple of heavy clouds heading your way.  Sounds like you are well prepared.  Been a long week.  Hope the weekend stays quiet.  I am a tad under the weather and need some rest.  Got my daughter's 4th birthday tomorrow.  Small affair with a few others for pizza and cake.

I hope to check back over the weekend.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I don't get the chance to read the back posts like I had been.
God Bless,

Dennis

GOOD EVENING ALL

Stayed overcast today, middle 70s, took advantage of that and did two oil changes. Wifes car, my Ranger. No trains and the wife spent the day canning, so by tonite she was tired and cranky, old James just stayed quiet and out of the way. We got just enough rain to turn the grass from brown to slightly green. That was my day, not much but enough for me. Enjoy your weekend. S.J.

OK Brutus wherever you are banilla is ready.

Okay, I'm in for banilla!  Had a sandwich for dinner.  Son has been doing fine all day, but about every 6 hours his headache starts to come back.  There is a bug going around, so it might be that, or it could be the big weather changes with storms off and on for the past few days.  Clearing off around here now, so hopefully he will soon be past this one way or another.  I'm signed up for OT tomorrow and had calls in to see if I was still supposed to come in, since I had to take off today.  Nobody called me back, so I'll go in anyway and see what happens - worst case scenario, they send me home!

Kurt - yes I did leave Michigan for Florida. I had spent a lot of time here since the '70s; both my and my wife's parents retired in Central Fl, so thought we knew more about it than we did. It's not bad really but we've been through 3 hurricanes and are getting tired of staring down the gun barrel for 6 months each year. Hopefully and prayerfully Ike will stay well south as they are currently predicting. On the plus side, the roads here don't have potholes big enough to swallow an F-150 whole. By the way, I lived in Plymouth for all of my (then) 57 years until coming here in early 2002.

Hannah left Jax, FL a little damp but not nearly as bad as some of our afternoon thunderstorms. On a train note, I got my SP Cab Forward back from Lionel a couple weeks ago. Finally got it on the tracks today. Reassigned the number I had given it before and LEGACY allows it to run at step 2 and higher. The sounds are as sweet as they were before!!! The varying chuff rates between the two sets of cylinders come and go, depending on the speed settings. Glad to have it back, even though it is running special service with a Pennsy Congressional set!

Just have to wait and see what Ike does first part of next week.

AH, started raining harder now and lightning with thunder.  Off to bed.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  [I think Grayson got a good soaking]

Sausge and egg biscuits cooked.  2.5 inches of rain and another ban coming by.  Has NOT been that windy so far.  Bet Grayson got more than we did.  Have a good one.

Good Morning:

So far here on the east end of LI we had rain overnight, and as I sit here with my coffee (and Pug dogs), it is not raining and there is no wind (to speak of).

Were supposed to get whatever is left of Hanna this evening, and overnight. My daily commute includes 2 short ferry rides (each way) to reach the South Fork. It will be interesting to see if there is any stronger affects of Hanna near the ocean.

This afternoon sounds like train time, and I have a RailKing A-A C & O F unit that I have yet to unpack and give some track time.

It sounds like the storm following Hanna, Ike, may warrant more concern.

Hey guys,

I wsa up early this AM to check on my Mom.  She is in Oriental, NC (near the coast).  Checked the radar, looks like some rain and a lot of wind (Jim Cantore is in Atlantic Beach, NC, just south of Oriental).  So far ok.

Chief, hope youse giz are ok, looks like you'll get an "eyeful".

Supposed to be clear and 94 today, not sure if I'm "biking" it to the LTS or not, I have a lot of stuff to bring there...I have a couple hours to figure that out yet.

Just keeping an eye out east for Ike now.

Talk at ya later!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy and warm 68 degrees. No breeze. Going up to 78 today with a slight chance of rain later.

Chief....It does not look good for you on the Radar Map. I hope all is well and you folks are safe.

Today is a busy day. Lots of chores to do this morning and then, I will be able to relax. No Nascar races today. Both are scheduled for tomorrow. I will spend some time in the train room today.

I think Buckeye was at the neighborhood Block Party last night. I wonder if he spent the night on his front lawn, like last year. Whistling [:-^]

Dining car is here and it's serving breakfast. Then, off to " Points West ".

Y'all have a great Saturday.

As far as wind, I've seen thunder storms worse.  Now have 3 inches of rain and light rain still coming down.  Guess I wil get ready and go to Miss Edna's.  Frankie does not answer his phone so he may have power porblems [lives out in th country south ofhere].  Not many power outages in Wake Co.  Seems more in Johnston where he lives.  Called Mom down east where eye is going.  She said it sure is windy. Shock [:O]  If anyone loses power, she does.  She was fine.  Later.

Mornin' boys.  Rain and a tropical feeling 79 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Noticed something leaving work last night; the air had a distant warm sea smell to it.  Gonna try to get the laundry done before possible power loss.  Had to turn the news off, got tired of the pretty anchor woman standing in front of the rack of batteries.

Morning all. Mmmm, I can just smell a nice peach pie. Beautiful sunny day here 1,000 miles from the east coast. Prayers for those of you getting visits from Hanna. Nothing much planned for the day - though I'm sure the bride has things to do I don't know about yet.

Well, Hanna left us with 4 inches of rain and a little wind here in Wellington, 20 miles inland from Palm Beach and so far it looks like Ike will go south of the peninsula. Our best to all of you still in Hanna's path.

Sir James, I notice you state you're from Mich. rather than MI. Guess you don't care what the Postal Service thinks either. I'll bet you're probably a Michigander rather than a Michiganian too. Where are you in Mich? I lived in Plymouth all my life until moving here in '02.

I use Mich. on the forum as its easier to indentify. I live in Macomb county about 30 minutes from Lionels Mi. facilities. My home state is Oh. but I have lived here most of my life. Kids were born here so I don't get to much Buckeye support, have three converts.

Not too much rain here in west Lake Worth area, some minor street flooding or big puddles on Blanchette Trail.

Hurricane Ike is the one to watch for now, may go up the Gulf Coast side of Florida towards Tampa, or towards New Orleans LA. Right now Ike is near Cuba over Dominican Republic & Haiti.

My train buddy from Lantana is doing much better this week, had bypass surgery a month ago or more, lost some weight since the surgery. Said he is packing up his trains in case hurricane Ike comes this way. I will be doing the same if IKe comes this way!

Well, party is over, kids are gone and my brood is in the bath.  We will have to take our kids to Toys-R-Us after church tomorrow to pick out some more presents.  Cake was good, too good.  I think I may go back for another piece if you guys want to swing by with the Tardis.

Chief, hope you made it through things well.

Lee, tell your friend to be carefull.  At least for the first 6 weeks, he is not supposed to pick up anything with any weight.  It can be very easy to break the sternal wires that hold the "*** bone" together.  If he is going to do it, take his time and work in small loads.  He will get winded quickly.

Looking forward to church tomorrow.  I am not on camera or lights, but will probably be recruited for one of the jobs.
Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Reffed two youth soccer games, and took old oil to a "Tox-a-Way"  day for receycling.  Came and napped for three hours on couch.  Went to see "Babylon A.D." last night.  Wife wanted to see it because it had Vin Diesel.  Lots of action, no plot.  Watched tape of US women winning gold medal in soccer as well.  Much more enjoyable.  Qualifying for last IRL points race did not go well for good guys.  A J 's team is on 12th row and Sarah is 18th.  Tomorrow has to be better.  Prayers going out to all affected by weather.  Had biscuits and bacon on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Brutus was off today but have 12 hours of OT tomorrow.

Evening all took wife to Ryans today for a mid day meal (about 3 p. m. had arguement with cashier gave her coupon for buy one get one free meal and she tried to tell me it was buy one get one for $4.99 told her to go back to school and learn to read she then went to the manager and guess he told her it was a buy one get one free as she came back and did it right and never a sorry or anything. )

Not much else happening now can't wait for my C&O set to get here and guess I'll have the NS Engine about 2 weeks later as won't have the funds till next payday for it.

Guess I really need to start looking into getting room painted and then building bench work for the layout .

We were lucky just some light rain out of the storm and light wind nothin really above normal for a mild windy day I would say. By it staying out to sea till it got to the SC/NC border it made it not affect us here in columbia. Hope chief and all didn't get to much out of it. When I was talking to freind in VA that owes hobby shop he said they already were getting about 40 miles an hour winds and storm wasn't due till 2 and I was talking to him about 11 am.

Dennis.....After my surgery, they gave me the same advice about lifting anything heavy.  Being a person who wanted a more definitive answer, I asked, "What is heavy?".   Their answer, "Nothing heavier than a gallon of milk."   I thought it was a great answer because I could relate.

Make sure you see my new switch post.

Buckeyes won.  Boilers won.  ND won.  Life is good.

Last night ran the garden RR in the rain.  Those trains are tough, real tough.  Did some minor rewiring of a G Scale passenger car today.

I hear that Roseyville had a little rain.

Evening all!

Brutus:  I'm in!  Beacon is on!  MMmmmmm Pie!  Dinner [dinner]

Prayers for all in the way of the storm.

Back from the Saline, MI Fair.  Kids won quite a few stuffed animals and squirt guns!  We rode the Spinning Dragons ride similar to the Tilt-a-Whirl with a wheel inside so you get to spin as fast as you like...1-1/2 yo was laughing louder as we spun faster, Dad was turning greener and greener.  I can't take those spinning rides as much as I used to.

Did finally get the running gear back on the renovated 2025, so that ones complete except for stamping the numbers!
