What train show???  Not one until Oct. or Nov. [TCA that is].

House warming will have to wait a week.  Lawyer the guy has hired is too busy to move it up [his money and not mine].  Found out from insurance lady in Clarksville VA, only two lawyers there.  All one horse operations with an assistant each.  So will remain the 18th.  Just as well, got meetings all week except tomorrow.  Then one Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  Then I'm gone all the rest of that week, weekend and all the next week to the Lake House.  Rosyville will have to suffer.  Don't call me, I'll call you. Shock [:O]

Good luck and prayers for Dennis's G'mother.

Glad RT is home.

All the other sickly, GET WELL!!

Later.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 66 degrees. Thunderstorms since 2 a.m.  Suppose to be clear and 74 this afternoon.

Today will be an inside day. I have a few chores to do and then I will spend some time in the train room. Not much going on outside. I will have to take a nap, later. I'll force myself.  LOL

Dining car is here and it's breakfast time. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.  Keep dry.

I've been trying to take it easy for the last couple of days, strained my back either putting down mulch last week or helping a buddy build a storage shed for his boat on Labor Day.

On the train front, I started building a tender for my K-Line Porter.  It looks kind of bare without a tender and it doesn't make sense not having any fuel even though its a tank engine.  I'm sorta following the plans that were in the other mag. a couple of issues back.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and cooler in SE Indiana with highs near 70.  What will I do tonight?  No home soccer games as the boys play a rare Wedenesday road game and the girls have a long road trip tonight.  Maybe mow the yard, but we did not get much rain.  Maybe spend time with the wife?  Maybe run trains?  There's the ticket (so to speak).  I am in weather junkie heaven as I hooked up one of the digital TV converters last night (yes, I am still on antenna), and there are 24 hour weather stations available on digital.  All weather, all the time.  I love it! My wife thinks I am bad about soccer, but that is nothing compared to the weather watching.  All I have to do is figure out how to tape with the VCR and I am set.  The local PBS station has three channels in the evening and for our friends across the pond I can now watch the BBC news at 10 PM.  In other news, I did work with my Brazillian soccer "student" last night.  She might get some field time this week in a JV game.  I had bran mufins on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all.  Roger B, watch that back.  Can get to be a bad thing.  Hope it clears up.  Think I will service the pickup this AM.  I do not trust others servicing my truck.  I like to do it once in a while to be sure everything is "covered".  Calling for showers later.  Fireants poped out of the ground.  Found several big nests yesterday while mowing.  One big one in the field across the fence.  Could see where they tunneled just under the surface to get to my yard.  I fed them well. Evil [}:)]  Spectrocide has some granduals that they love.  Sprinkle on top of mound and they rush out and start takeing it into the mound.  Few hours later, no ants.  Off to coffee and cook breakfast.  Later.

Mornin' Fellas.

WOW I miss a couple days and guys are in the hospital (Glad you are home RT), grandmas are in the hospital (Dennis hope your grandma's last days are as comfortable as possible), guys coming in for York and leaving before the picture ceremony... and Fife's been under the weather too... must be from rescuing the flock from the nasty weather on Saturday... or too much yelling at the TV during the Raven's game?

York - I am mailing my registration tomorrow. I am planning to make it for the whole day on Friday, but that may get pushed back to afternoon. Will keep you posted.

Wes and Buckeye - when will you be in the area? If we can't hook up at the show, maybe we can do a board dinner somewhere Thursday night? Susan is addicted to Isaac's Deli and Restaurant... http://www.isaacsdeli.com/ Fife may even show up since their mascot is a pink flamingo? And there are a bunch of them in York/Hanover/I-83 area.

Got home yesterday and the Legacy Command Base and Remote were there to greet me. A few weeks back during a gathering at our house the Remote lost connectivity with the Command Base, and I never fixed it... well last night I hooked everything back up, powered up... and the Remote found the Command Base! Thumbs Up [tup] ran trains for a few minutes... one problem has been identified... the Jr. Berk loses center rail pickup when traversing the O-54 turnouts.

So now I have to figure out a way to get power from the center rail on one of the tender pickups to the engine... anyone ever do anything like this?

Brent,

We travel Wednesday, go to the show Thursday and possibily friday morning, and then back to Buckeye town by Friday evening.  So far only thing planned is where we are staying, and breakfast Thursday before the show.  I'm open to whatever everyone comes up with.

thanks brent and all again

Brent call our friend Jeff Kane in N.Y. ( the train tender) he has a middle pickup that will clip right on the truck of the tender and you can run a wire from that to where you need it 585-229-2050

Sorry brent read to fast basicly your going to need to make a teather from the engine to the tender if it doesn't have one already. if it does guess you could bet a black wire and attach it to the out side of the teather and run it to the board where the power comes in on the engine but again I would have a jack of somesort so you could seperate them.

Morning all. Sunny and cool today as the rain heads east. Prayers for Roger's back and Sir James sinuses. I think everyone is getting a cold here.  Who cares though because I am still basking in the Bear's victory and my White Sox are still (for the moment) in first place too. Looking forward to conversing with Jack about match-ups.  Ran trains in the background last night while I was cleaning out a bit of the basement to get some things in today's trash pick-up.  Finally about 9, the middle boy who is a freshman in high school shared the news he forgot he has a math test today. Banged Head [banghead]

Roger, I'd like to hear how you plan to make the tender for the Porter.

rt - Enjoy your new NS loco.  And I have a feeling those docs will find a good heart...we here already know so.Wink [;)]

Good mornin', ya'll,

RT.....your upbeat post was encouraging.  Preventative/pre-emptive treatment sure does beat the alternative, and I'm not trying to blow sunshine up your stack.  I joined the Forum 9 months ago, and you've been running flat out (successfully) for all that time through some of the most stressful of situations life can present.  Re the weight, join the club.  My attitude is that I didn't get this way in a couple of months and I'm not going to fix it without an extended period of time and a few lifestyle changes.  I sure am missing my Cheetos (fried not baked), Kit Kat bars, and Hostess cupcakes.  My dietary confessions to my Doctor made her laugh, and I was happy beer wasn't listed as a recommended "avoid" item.  Have to determine what she meant by moderation.  I thought my 6 barrel abs were attractive; and if I get stranded in New Hampshire's White Mountains without food, I can just crawl into a cave and hibernate until Spring.

Dennis....your Grandma's German/Brooklyn/Tennessee accent must be something to experience!

Brutus....re the return to Disney, my sentiments exactly.  As spectacular as the area is (my second trip there with the whole crew back in May), it is also quite expensive (February=ouch!) unless you can mitigate some of the major expenses (i.e., food and lodging) by renting outside the park a large 4 bedroom, 3 full bath, LR queen sofa bed house, laundry facilities, with a pool and a kitchen as we did.  Daughter found a ton of houses for rent on the internet within 20 miles of the theme parks.

Kurt....I bet you are secretly glad your GG-1 needs work so you can stamp your repair expertise on it.  Good luck, and keep us posted.

Sir James....sinus infection, or sinus infection with an allergy?  Hope you get that squared away and are feeling better.  They can really knock the wind out of your sails.

JohnB.....back in 1997 when I was in the UK they had already banned hand held cell use in autos.  We're a little slow here on the uptake across the Pond uptake: freedom vs. safety.

Roger.....cranky backs are no fun.  That will teach you to be so helpful to others!  Get well.

MikeC.....SIL has DirecTV with a million sports channels (8 baseball games simultaneously), including soccer from everywhere.  Has a monthly bill to rival a mortgage or car payment. (Why our adult kids with 2 wage earners are always broke).

Chief.....thanks for the tip on fire ants.  I have that issue in my back yard, and the winters up this way don't thin out the herd.  Hearty little suckers, as are the bees who nest in the ground.  When I try to tell wifey that mowing the lawn is dangerous, she automatically assumes I am making a mountain out of an anthill.  Poured a cup of gasoline down the hole and that seemed to work with the bees.....must have taken up residence elsewhere, like my attic.

DougM.....your son "forgot" he had a Math test today?........hmmmmm, sounds all too (painfully) familiar.  I have to assume there are not enough good looking chicks in class to keep him focused on that topic.  Don't worry, these types of child issues will be replaced with far more expensive ones down the road.  Buy trains now!!!

Fifey.....hope your wife is feeling better so she can cut the lawn for you while you are convalescing.

Speaking of wives mowing lawns, we have not heard anything recently from John (John and Julie).

Red Sox shut Tampa out last night, .5 games out of first and on a roll.  Patriots haven't called me for a QB tryout.

Later, guys.

Jack

Hey all, forgot to mention my TRAIN encounter yesterday afternoon.  We got a call for lights malfunctioning (stuck on red), causing a traffic jam outside two nearby schools.  Turned out to be a CSX GP40 with some M.O.W. cars fouling the signals.  Asked the crew to move up about 25 feet, and everything went back to normal...CODE 8!

Doug,

See OGR, Run227, Feb./March 2008.  I pretty much have the body roughed in.  When the glue totally sets up I'll sand and fill as needed before adding some details, attaching the truck and setting the mounts for the coupler and draw bar.  Since my Porter is on a partially hiden loop toward the back of the layout, and runs continuously as long as the layout is powered up, I'm not bothering with a light.

Thanks for the concern about the back guys, its something I've lived with since my teens though it hasn't acted up in quite sometime and I sometimes forget to take it easy.

Brent, If the tender already has a pickup, all you need is a tether.  Did this to my Lionel E6 Atlantic and now it goes through all my turnouts without a hitch.  If you are going to York there is a guy in about the middle of Orange hall, in the front that has tethers from 2 to 8 wires very reasonable.  One of those stands with lots of tools.  See you at York.

Good Evening everyone!

Home with the  oldest (6) who is playing "Lego Indiana Jones" on the Wii.  Picked up the Wii Fit for the bride as she wants to work out at home, high tech style.  Had some cases this morning that kept me busy and then the computer folks at the hospital told me they want me to enter things from my cases into the database....told them I wasn't interested, they have secretaries for that.  They didn't like the answer, but I'd rather focus my energies on my own work.

On the train front, I won an auction for a bunch of old train magazines.  Lots in there, mostly "Trains" from the 80s and also picked up a Mint, in the box 6656 PW car.  It looks great.  I also picked up a few other pieces of rolling stock and some scenery pieces.  Getting ready to do scenery if I can ever get some time off of work.

Roger, hope you are feeling better.  I suffer with a bad back and neck.  Ain't fun!  Anyway, I have a meeting tonight with a Rep.  At least I get a good meal for my efforts.  Also, I got a call today that some magazine is going to interview me for the movie.  Kind of exciting, but in reality, it is a God thing.

God Bless,

Dennis

Fife - you forget... FifeyWifey posted pics from VT, so the fellas already know how you like 'em! Wink [;)] BTW... forgot to mention... its a no go this month... but she got really good news at the clinic today for this month. Smile [:)] Now that you mention doing Saturday instead of Friday for York, that just may work. I can bank the vacation day and spend the day doing the show and then railfanning! Think I may pass that one by the event coordinator to see how it sounds to her. Whistling [:-^] By then she'll probably be so sick of me (we're going to Alabama for a wedding the weekend prior) that she'll be happy to see me go!

RT and JF - thanks for the heads up! I'm going to wait till York and see what I can find, then if I can't find it there I'll give the NY chap a call.

JF - I will photoshop anything I have the source files for! Thumbs Up [tup]

Wes - let's try for something on Thursday. SusieQ said we couldn't be there till around 8 or so IF she tags along, so if no other significant others will be attending I think I'll leave her alone in the woods that night! Shock [:O] She'll have to wait till Buckeye makes to MD again to meet Spanky. Sign - Dots [#dots]
