Phone just rang. I have another interview this afternoon at 1:00PM. Wish me luck.
As for grilling pork loin, I did that over the weekend. Marinated it in Weber Black pepercorn mix. DELICIOUS! Even the leftovers tasted real good.
I would always tell Karen "Someone got a fart caught crosswise" when gas goes up. Supply down, price up.

I must be having issues with my pc email and phones.......haven't received my invitation and driving instructions to the lake yet. Re the high cost of food, I was looking forward to just throwing a line in the lake and waiting for the host to swing by with the veggies from the garden.

ChiefEagles wrote:Rich is right. Sad day. I remember when it all started happening adn then traveling to the Triangle for a meeting. When I left, not a plane in the sky and we were right at RDU International. Seeing the buildings fall. Then seeing the folks walking home from NY was something. My Mom use to tell me about what she was doing and how she flet when she heard about Pearl Harbor. Now I know.
If you are talking about the 9-11-01 disaster, I couldn't believe what I heard from somebody that morning that the twin towers in NYC were struck by airplanes. I was driving a bus for Community Coach up in Stuart FL when I heard a relative of the person I just picked up mention something about a trajedy in New York, I was almost in shock at the news coming across the TV set at work on lunch break. Almost thought the BIG war(WW3) had started!

BURRRRRP! Sure was goooood.
Directions: go SOUTH and when you reach the NC line on I 85, look for Henderson NC and HWY 39 west exit. Drive west along HWY 39 crossing the lake several times. When you see a sign that says, "State Line 6", you almost there. Then a sign, "Ponderosa Second Right", your are closer. Next sign will be "Ponderosa" with arrow pointing right. Follow that highway until you go into VA [you will always know VA as the road narrows]. When you come the end of the road, turn left and face the REB pickets. If you get by, first right is Bonanza Trail [which is a loop], look left and when you see the big metal boat shed, you have found it. BTW: watch for flying lead if you have a Yankee license plate.
I was watching Fox News on my satellite TV waiting for the bell on the NYSE when the picture switched to the first plane hitting tower 1. At first I thoughtmy TV had shifted to a Speilberg movie, as the full horror of the occasion sank in I lost control and cried like a baby. It reminded me of the films of Buchenwald and Auschwitz I saw at the news cinema as a six year old child in 1945. I remember I buried my face in my mothers lap. Two scenes I shall never forget........................
CTT arrived this morning-inspiration from Carl Swanson-a shut up bed as a home for Lionel! All may not be lost, pencil and paper will be out tomorrow [who needs ERNI and CAD when I trained as an engineering draughtsman].
Have a good weekend chaps.....I will!!

Good Afternoon from Beautiful Southern Ohio,
It is gorgeous outside, but it looks like rain is on its way.
John- Nice car. I liked the unloading mock-up.
Chuck - It was a guy on an oil rig "might" sneeze that caused the gas price jump.
Fife- Life is good when we can comb our hair with the towel
Check back later
May God bless

Chief: Is the first picture the guest or carriage house? It looks a little spartan.
Jack, first picture is the metal building for boats and jet ski. The other building is an enclosed and floored building that the original owner stored his boat in. Pretty big. Think that may end up with a dogbone layout running around the edge of three sides of the building. storage/shop in the middle. Then there is another enclosed building for storage with a side storage for lawnmower and another side storage with door for golfcart. Then there is a two car metal carport. Plenty of storage space. See the front yard and how it rolls downward. Wife is already planning gardens and probably several levels of water garden. OH MY ACHING BACK!!
Did not run interview. Bet my telling them this was old news and all settled gave it a low priority. Very humid here. Watching WC and Ike. Got a lot of fishing buddies in Houston. Later.
Jack on the clickable link I left thats your decission on what it means let your own mind guide you LOL
Jack you could always come here first and borrow my truck as it has South Carolina Tags on it

It is good to hear that you are working with a dietian, follow thier instructions to the letter and keep them informed to any change in body workings such as dizzyness pains and hunger/cravings. It does not matter what diet you follow it is that first step that makes a difference.
Kurt - got it! Hey, you should take pics all long and create a photo essay thread from beginning to end here on the ctt site, I'd really love to see that and I'll be others would as well. I'll let you have my share of banilla for a week if you do
Rich - you are right. I dropped off kids and went to work. Sat down, put on headphones and thought, what are they talking about. When I heard about that first plane, I immediately thought we're at war. I know a guy who was there a week earlier and went to the top of one of the towers. Another lady who grew up down the street from me works just down the street from there and had to walk out through all that stuff. I will never forget this. They let us go home early and all I wanted to do was get my kids and get to our house. My friend Debbie was renting a house at the time that had been rented previously by one of the hijackers. Cops checked her out and also had reporters asking her questions.
John (jefelectric) and DougDaGrump - I like to roast a pork loin with some garlic and dry mustard, but that rotisserie sounds great too! Wish I had a gas stove-top, that is best I agree. Esp if you like to cook in big heavy pans or with a wok sometimes.
Doug, had a great time last night, thanks for that rootbeer! Kurt, thanks for fixing the heater in the pool down on the 23rd floor, Don's neighbor was getting a little chilly. Luckily, Sir James was there to comfort her I've got some Sam Adams and Old Mills, so let's swing by and see if Laz needs some distracting from his Legacy delay!
RT - glad you are taking it easy - be safe!
PS - one week until the great CRAPPIE MASSACRE OF MATTON LAKE!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
GOOD EVENING ALL
A sunny day but no trains, sorry about that its just the way it is. The wife and I did some shopping at Target and my favorite place, the dollar store. Most places dropped reg. back to $3.65 but its still too high, crude dropped almost two dollars again today. Friday is almost here so make the best of it.
OK Brutus fire it up, banilla is ready....S.J.

out of 4 tables only one was perfectly square but it is all good from the begining till now the only casualties was a hammer that got broke, my finger and one chewed up phillips bit(went and got a pack 50 bits and they were of better quality metal so I have 49 extra bits for next project
CSX, sounds like you are doing fine. Just don't kill yourself before you finish.
Reclinerized again. Good night. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.
HI GIZ,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 70 degrees. Light wind. Rained a little last night. Suppose to rain, on and off, all day. Going up to 75.
Glad I got all the mowing done yesterday. Today is an easy day. I plan on relaxing and running trains later. No errands to run. Usual chores around the house. Should be a nice indoor day.
Dining car is here and it's breakfast time. Then it is off to "Points West".
Buckeye.....TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Overcast & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Took the day off for son's birthday (14). Made him breakfast before school, then held him down so littlest princess could unleash her fury on his behind. Celebratory dinner tonight at Bertucci's, and gift giving.
Chief - I can't wait to meet HOSS and LITTLE JOE...
Good morning all,
It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s. Yesterday was a much better day at work, far better than I expected. Soccer was not so good, tho. Boys lost 3-1 and "my" soccer girls lost 1-0. JV girls tied 0-0. Did some small tasks around the house and some brief Second Life. No more points IRL races this year, but there is an F-1 race. Motorcycles are racing at IMS this weekend. Part of me would like to go, but the weather does not look good and Lucas is coming home for the weekend. I had the regular fare on the dining car this weekend. I hope everyone has a great day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Chief,
You can never have too much storage space. I enjoyed the photo spread you posted previously when you were getting serious about the property. While you seemed to indicate this is a secondary residence, I think it will be a primary one eventually.
How many of us have enough storage space or garage space where we live? I don't. Many if not most people have at least one car that sits out 24/7/365 because of this, some without a single car in the garage.
Then......up Nawth, the winter ice and snow can turn a simple 5 minute trip to the store into a project. Sometimes the ice is so bad you can't even get into the car because the doors are iced shut and tight, and pulling on the door handle when this happens.....you can wind up with the broken handle in your hand with the door still sealed nicely. Lean on the car to break the seal, and you have a nice depression in the sheet metal. And if you can get into the car, the quarter inch of ice on the windshield, sides, rear window, and mirrors, along with the wipers adhered to the windshield, can extend the project another 15 minutes. Finally, when it is near zero, it takes the car forever to warm up and get the front and rear defrosters up to speed.
Leave your deck furniture out in the winter, even covered? Dirt, mold, mildew, and moss city in the spring. I spend the better part of a half day during each spring cleanup with a steamer, chlorine bleach, and bathroom tub tile and grout cleaner working on the deck furniture and related paraphanalia because I don't have covered storage space for these items. While umbrellas, and coolers don't take up much storage room, unstackable chairs and tables are another matter.
All floor pots and drip trays for wife's plants must be stored as well or the pottery cracks. The plastic stuff like hanging baskets fare somewhat better. Wicker stuff especially must be removed from the elements. Same with kiddie pools. However, I do use the gas grill all winter.
Bicycles, garden carts, wheelbarrows, spreaders, lawn mowers, snowblowers, and chair cushions.
My deck doesn't have enough height (ground clearance) for underneath storage, so all lawn and garden stuff has to go under roof somewhere.
Wife and I have concluded a large storage shed is in our future.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH KIDS......NEVER EVER LET THEM STORE A CAR ON YOUR PROPERTY UNLESS YOU HAVE A CLEAR SELFISH MOTIVE FOR IT. IT NEVER FINDS THE ROAD AGAIN EXCEPT BEHIND A TOW TRUCK. SAME WITH THEIR STUFF THEY HAVE NO ROOM FOR IF/WHEN THEY ALLEGEDLY MOVE OUT. IT SITS UNTIL YOU ISSUE A DROP DEAD DATE A FEW DECADES LATER, THEN GETS TOSSED. EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR OWN HOME.
Morning boys, hello John B across the pond!
Busy day already....
Rained last night, so it will be very uncomfortable for the rest of the day.
Not much going on, looking forward to the weekend, work at the LTS tomorrow. My son picked up his '88 Dodge Daytona and showed him how to do a tune up and check the electrical system. I have to get moving on the Satellite, might start that again on Sunday.
Planning for Biketoberfest and Halloween Horror nights next month, but work is going to make this a problem. I have some special sales on Saturdays in October they "need" for me to be at.
OH, well....at least it's a better day today than yesterday.
Have a good one!Rich

Jack, you were not around when I had the carpet RR started. It was know as the Wedding Presents Mountain RR. It ran around and through the wedding presents left by the Youngest in her bedroom. Took over a year to get them out. Some, we even started using ourselves as she had duplicates. Then when I started the Roseyville Div. of NS in Frankie's bedroom, hauled a lot of his "stuff" to him and cleaned out the walkin attic by hauling off Oldest's junk. Youngest still has sand snow babies in my display case for my Halmark engines. They never move!!!!!!!!
Morning. Drizzle and cloudy. Off to Environmental Services Committee meeting at County Offices. Free lunch. [actually half a sandwich and salad but plenty of sweet ice tea] Then back. Got my free little trailer back. Had guy weld extra framing so I could put on a 5 by 6 deck. Taking it to the Lake House as a trailer for hauling needs [golfcart, lawnmower or when only $ Runner is there]. Always need a spare trailer. Going to put decking boards on it as a deck. HAve a good one. Later
