A Good Afternoon to all!

Well, it was a fairly un-eventful weekend until yesterday.  Saturday at the train store, had dinner out, watched the ricers and the bikers at Sonic for dessert.

Sunday went to breakfast with my son, then had him clean up his new project (1988 Dodge Daytona), while I completed the painting of the frame on the Satellite.  Pick up the wife and had dinner at Chicago Pizza, when the topic of motorcycles came up with the wife (we were dining al fresco on the street near the ocean).  She gave me some parameters like colors/mucho chrome, etc....the only reason it came up was because she started it....  We headed toward the big HD store, but they were just closing up.  Wife said, "Go see them tomorrow".

Well, yesterday clean the garage a little, had to move stuff around, as I'm leaving my storage place.  Took a shower and the boy & I went to the smaller HD store down the street.  Long story short, I dug into my savings and bought a '97 Sporty 1200.  Silver & Black (like our wedding colors and my road runner), LOTS of (ugh!) CHROME and only 9K miles on it. Clean as a whistle.  Boy was SHE surprised when I brought it home.  She getting courage to get on it.  Want me to put in some seat time before she ride on the back (gee, I can do that).  Hey Jon, may I can get up your way.  I may be able to do some PGR missions, also!

My short term memory has failed me, so I'm off again.

We'll see ya later!

Evening all . I see we been bad again but when were bad were bad this is the first time I know of getting 2 post closed at the same time.  Enough said.

Not to much happening here getting ready for hanna or Ike or Joesaphine how ever you spell it lol. I agree witht he chief we need to send them to John Bakker over in england he needs some excitement. Wink [;)].

Was informed today I'm on the recall incase of emergency. So if we get a bad storm or that crazy white stuff I'm to be there as I will be needed. ( that means O.T.) The only part I don't like is it leaves the misses here by herself with the cats . Acually that might be good as she always over reacts durning these storms and drives me bonkers. At least this time I have her in a brick house instead of a trailor and she's about 150 miles from the coast instead of 15 as the crow flies.

Supose to be off saturday and sunday but we will see. ( need to keep off on sat so we can goto the store and all or wife will disown me lol)

Doug....I've camped out at Tahquamenon Falls, Michigan.  Have you ever heard of the Two Hearted River made famous by Ernest Hemingway?  A ND guy like you should have had to read every one of this books.

Chuck.....The reason I have to work hard is that an old geezer in NC just started to collect social security (SS).  Needless to say, due to his influence in higher circles, the SS fund has seen a significant reduction in millions and millions of dollars.

Gas at $3.42 today.   We have been shipping all the high priced gas to Michigan and Blueberry Hill.  Needless to say I need fuel tomorrow before I head out on the road to Hondatown.  I assume that most of you know that Hondatown is in Ohio. They build Civics, Accords and Accura.  They ship them out by the trainloads on the CSX. Big Smile [:D] They just suspended the motorcycle line so they can build more cars.  They cannot keep up with the Civic demand.

If a hurricane hits NC we are going to be in big trouble.  The grits crop will be destroyed and the Chief will complain, moan and groan for a year or more.

RT.....I agree.  First time in four years that I can recall.  How far from the coast are you located?  I thought you were on high ground and not in one of those gator infested swamps near the Chief.

Emailed TK today asking them why no switch on my doorstep.  Forgot to send it last week. Black Eye [B)]

Evening all from beautiful hot Southern Ohio

The 654 Pullman I won on eBay came today.  After a little cleaning it will be a nice car.  I am looking forward to having it on the layout behind the 650 passenger cars instead of a caboose.  I did get the 793 Union Station on the layout yesterday.  The station makes the layout look a lot different.  I will get some pictures and post them Sunday.

Roy - How is your Aunt's hip?

Kurt- The fastrack in the garden is neat!

Jim F - Around these parts Zucchini begins to show up everywhere and in everything!  There is a joke that you can tell someone who does not have any friends because he will be in the store buying zucchini.

Anjdevel2- Now just how did you get your wife to consider a HD?  That I would like to know.  Was she into bikes before?

Here is a shot I got of an eagle

May God bless

Jim SP - I guess Mike has some friends then, 'cause he brought the zuch bread.  I used to get a lot of it when I was a kid and did deliveries for a drug store.  Old folks would tip with tomatoes, zuchini, zuchini bread, pumpkin bread, etc - lots of homemade goodies Dinner [dinner]

Big rain coming for the rest of the week until the weekend.  Might work OT on Saturday - waiting to hear if my friend is working.  If she is, then I'll work - otherwise, it's really lonely on the big floor all by myself.  Waiting for her test results.

Doug.....Having worked in the UP on two projects, I was able to explore several places off of the beaten path.  The boat ride at Painted Rocks National Lakeshore is awesome.   The museum at Paradise Point is spooky with the Fitz's bell on display.  If you ever want a neat place to get away from all the rush, go to Drummond Island.  It is like stepping back in time and not crowded like Mackinac.

Well, I am tired.  We had a little "present" come to surgery from the emergency room.  Fortunately, we got to the patient in a timely manner and he is doing well.  All too often, people try to "tough it out" and by the time they seek help, too much damage has been done.  We had 3 hearts today and all are doing well.

Got word from a good friend in "harm's way".  Always good to hear from our fighting men on the front lines who keep this free country free.  Please remember our troops in you prayers.

Gotta get some sleep,

God Bless,
Dennis

Late evening all!

Another long day. Temps moderated here due to to the hurricane (88) - fast moving clouds and very breezy all day with some sprinkles. Looks like the storm will peter out long before it gets here if it gets here at all. Good news is lower temps for a few days. Could use some rain - sprinkler system on the fritz and I will not get to it until next weekend. Same control valve has been acting up. Usually a tiny piece of debris is holding the magnetic plunger open which then completely opens the valve.

Sturg - no word on my aunt and I got home late tonight - too late to call. I will try tomorrow.

Buckeye, Doug - I didn't know the Union Pacific went to upper Mich Whistling [:-^] ?

Good to note all of you seem to be doing well.

Have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Morning to All,

Another early start.  Made fresh pot, have to get in the shower. Late night tonight, interviewing candidates for a clerk postion.  We had over 120 applicants for one 10 month position. Amazing, people are so desperate to find jobs with benefits.  The health insurance is the big draw, pay is pitiful for a full-time job.

NO train time in a long while. Mrs. is going to a wedding shower Saturday so I might get some train time, supposed to rain to yard work will have to wait.

Take care,

Mitch

Mitchelr sometimes they look at it as a foot in the door and the benifits. That once there in there they may be able to apply for a better position and have a better chance of getting it.

Morning all up and ready to goto work have to be there by 7:00 . Allready had breakfast and sent the dinning car up to mitch. about time to head out the door.

Morning all,

Waiting for the oncoming shift to take over.  Rather busy last night, guys did a good job troubleshooting a problem.  One more nightshift.  There is talk of needing to come in an extra night to complete some mandatory training.  Not the kind of training I would rather be doing.

Take care

God bless

Morning all!

First day on sound at the Church, I am in with the elementary school children...simple right?  I walk in, and the usual guy isn't there...Ok...  You want to set-up a band...ok..how do you normally do it????  Oh, this is the first time.  good.

Rewired most of the system, and amp, external connections, and got the band sounding great.  Bass player, and guitar player were no shows....at least their equipment was new.

Bride called at 9:15pm...1-1/2 yo fell and cut her mouth and chin open and has been bleeding and crying for 20 min, and wants you...I'll be right home.  Nice people at Church understood.  She wouldn't let me in to see, but bottom of 2 front teeth had blood on them, and a scrape on the front of her chin.  Dentist today to survey the damage.

GG1 finally arrived...6-business days with DHL...Shipping was $16.50.  It seems I was a shipping experiment...other feedback was positive, and timley.

  All have a good one.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 92 today, hot, with sunshine.

Today is the day that I drive up to Cambridge for groceries. A real fun day. Tongue [:P] Gas is going back up again. Here at $3.69 a gallon. Might fill up in the big city. Food prices dropped last week. That's strange. I'll be glad when I'm done shopping. No time for trains.

Dining car is here and it's breakfast time. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

It is hot in SE Indiana.  High school boys tied in soccer last night 1-1.  So hot they took water break at 20 minutes each half.  Both teams were dragging at the end of the game.  Worked on "work" stuff again last night.  Be glad when I am caught up, but probably not before the end of the year.  No word from Lucas on first day of classes so all must be well or busy.  Big shakeup in IRL lineup for next season.  Mr. Judd is with Target Ganassi racing and Wheldon moves to the Panther team.  Poor Vitor is left out in the cold :-(   I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning and the paper was there early.  Got to read most of it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all. Grey and cooler here. Glad your daughter is OK, Kurt. Happy I can see the words in sir Jame's posts again. Roy, didn't you know the UP is everywhere? Actually, the Upper Penisula seemed criss-crossed with active tracks, serving mines, paper mills, logging sites - former Soo, C&NW, MILW, Wisc Central, now mostly CN. Lots of interesting old cars and engines in the Escanaba yards.

cnw1995 - Out of all the lines from your part of the continent, I find the SOO most intriguing.  Whenever I see a photo of their white/red engines, I stop and study them.  Probably because that scheme is similar to the WESTERN MARYLAND's "circus" scheme...just something pleasing about it.

WOO HOO!  RAIN!  FINALLY!

Back from the Dentist.  No loose teeth, did see a cut on her gums, basically no damage.  Doctor said she was lucky.  Whew!

GG1 shell cleaned and polished!  Veddy Nice!  One side was painted with a thick gold stripe.  I was able to remove it with lacquer thinner...dulled the surrounding paint a bit, but I think I can buff it out.

Built and re-soldered a few audio cables for Church this afternoon.  Added heat shrink tubing at the ends as added strain relief.
