Good Morning all

Nice sunny morning, middle 80s for the next few days but no rain. Strange things happened here last nite. A full bag of chips are missing and the coffe grounds I fixed to brew this morning had been used. Me I did not hear a thing. The grass is only long in some places so I'm  not going to waste the gas. It will look ok for now. Maybe something trains this morning as we are having a cookout at daughters this afternoon. That is our holiday plans total mileage 3, round trip. Church tomorrow less than 2 miles r/t. Waiting for a call from Brutus as he and Chewy are alone for the weekend and I think some goofing off is in order..Have a good holiday.    S.J.

CSX -Laugh [(-D]  That's my kind of plumbing!

Rich - Smile [:)]

Had some good talks with Sir James and Kurt this morning.  I'm not sure we solved the problems of the world, but we did at least identify them!

BD - I've got a bunch of the Dept 56 Halloween Village buildings.  I've got some manor house, another haunted castle, a haunted tower with a gargoyle, a witch school, a haunted pet store, a movie theater, a Micky Mouse haunted house, and some others too.  Oh, and one item is a little handcar that goes back and forth with two skeletons on it.  I also have some Lemax buildings like a mausoleum and a lighthouse, a pirate ship, and some others.  I think that ultimately when I do a big layout there will be a little Hogwarts village, a halloween village, and then a coal mine and timber industry???  Weird, huh?  We'll see what really happens Wink [;)]  I don't have the Lionel store, but I have seen the one you are talking about - was that Dept 56?  This year, they added a haunted depot and also a stand alone locomotive?  That might be a cool display at Halloween.

Gotta get a light lunch and then get to work on the basement, so talk to yuz giz later!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Afternoon  all. Stinky day here (weatherwise it's gorgeous though). A few days ago, the middle boy quit football in a huff - then went back for a practice after I told him we finish what we start - then was told Fri. not to come back- he didn't tell me until 10 pm last night.  I have to work on his character whilst still have a chance. I am tired of high school drama with a second one - and it's been barely a week of school.

Oh well, he worked at digging out dead bushes with me this morning...

I need to take a photo of my "Coffee Pot" on the layout - Brutus, love those buildings. Prayers for Roy's Aunt.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Reffed a soccer game this morning as one of the sideline judges.  Some of the easiest $25 I ever made.  Did housecleaning after the game because company is coming and they are here.

Keep on training,

Evening.  T'storms all around.  We've had heavy sprinkles off and on so did not get to mow.  Was at Miss Edna's extra time today.  Some flash flooding as one is sitting still over an area.  Got one coming down on us unless it stalls.  Later.

Busted the bit on my cutout tool so didn't quite finish the wall I started today -- need to finish cutting out the doorway.  I gave Chewy some fancy food for lunch and she had a bad reaction while I was in the basement Dead [xx(]  Cleaned floors, cleaned Chewy and cleaned me!  Just ate a small steak and some 'taters finished with a cold Sam A.  Wanted to get more done today, but Chewy needed attention, so it's all good.

Doug M - sorry about the football, but at least he tried!

Roy....Sorry to hear about your Aunt in Akron.  Broken hips are hard on people.

Today, Mrs. Buckeye and I traveled to Holmes County, Ohio and hit all the good Amish Bakeries and Farm Markets.  A large industry in the area is Wayne Dalton Garage Doors.  Ate supper in Baltic, OH where a genuine Amish Restaurant serves roast beef, Swiss steak, fried chicken and ham with great mashed potatoes.  I did not have room for pie. OSU put a whoop-en on YSU today, but that was expected.  Our friends acquaintances in Michigan that state up north were beat by Utah. Laugh [(-D] Laugh [(-D] Laugh [(-D] Laugh [(-D]

I hope everyone is having a safe holiday weekend.  For those in southern Alabama, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, I have some advice.  Get out of there, now!!!  Don't wait to see if the Gulf is going to flood you, it is!!  As to the idiots that say the levee will never fail again, old engineers never say never.  SoapBox [soapbox]

Good evnin', ya'll,

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.  Back from a week of granddaughter-sitting followed by a family sojourn to the wilds of New Hampshire.  Saw that I was two weeks behind on posts and about 3 pages of topics.

So, get well.  Congratulations.  Sorry to hear that.  Better you than me.  Hope you get rain or dry out.

Hey CSX - coffee is really bad for you!  Chicken livers - yummy!

Here's a pic of my progress today:

Not too bad.  There is a doorway in that wall, but I had to go tonight and buy more blades for my cutter (Dewalt version of Rotozip).  That's a 5 minute job though.  My plan is to have the whole hallway drywalled and then around the corner of the play room by the time my wife and kids get home on Monday.

Wow! Talk about a tough crowd!

I was just trying to post a little levity on a Saturday night, of a 3 dayer.

Now for the translation:

Yep, did have 2 drinks, the first one mixed a little strong.

In all fairness to Doug, his post hit a real chord with me.  I have been really trying to teach my son that a Mans integrity and word is the most important asset that he has.  And, once he says something then "By Gosh" do whatever it takes to make it happen !!

So anyway back to the translation:

Doug, I went through the same thing with Chris, he went out for football, but missed "Hell Week" due to family obligations.  The Coach punished him by not letting him play the games.  And as a result did NOT letter.  Subsequently, the coach was fired for violating league and school policies.  I then talked to the Atheletic Director and the AD said he should have been awareded the letter.  Which subsequently happened.  But nevertheless is tainted.  Bottom Line: The HS football coaches in many cases are under so much pressure to have a financialy positive season, that the players often pay the price.  Doug, it may be a blessing that he is off the team, the lesson that you are trying to imbed, is still valid, and there will be many more opportunites, do not be disheartened or give up !  Chris came to me recently and said "Dad, thanks for sharing your values with me.  Many of my friends don't have jobs, don't know what they want to do and are kinda lost."  I couldn't have been prouder!!  And, my life has been a success !  I leave with him, the values I have been taught !  And, this too I'm sure you will experience !

(By the way the Net Zero is still good stuff.)  Not cough syrup !!

Thanks guys !  (It has been fun)

Morning all from beautiful Southern Ohio

The sunrise was beautiful this morning.  Lots of deer out and about.  The buck's antlers are forking and have not seen many does with a single fawn.

Jack- Great line to catch up with!

Don - Hope all you are driving is toy trains!

Jim - You the designated driver?  BTW, the drywall is lookin' good.

Buckeye - We've been to the same place.  Great food.  I had the woodwork for our house made up there.  It makes for a great day trip.  Some really nice B&Bs there also.

Doug - See if there is more to the story, sometimes there is and when everything comes to light, things work out better.

Chief - Is the lake house a done deal?

Check in later

May God bless

Jim
