Good night all.  Rain off and on.  Once in a while some lightning and thunder.  Reclinerized for a while.  Now waiting to take meds.  Have a good one.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Worked on basement until dinner time, then took son out to eat, hit Petco for some Chewy supplies, rented a couple movies, picked up more drywall, loaded it into basement, and hit the recliner.  Had some email difficulties apparently involving my brother, so sorry guys.  Then, got email from a friend who is having trouble with a student and we ended up chatting for 2 plus hours.  By the time it was done and I checked my other emails, it was really late, so just stopped by to say good night and talk to you guys tomorrow.  Prayers for the Fifedom.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 64 degrees. Going up to 85 today with sunshine. They say there might be an isolated thunderstorm, but I hope not.

Today is busy. I have to do some mowing again. Never finished it, the other day due to rain. Needs to be done. Other than that, it's going to be a quiet day. Need to do some relaxing. No fireworks last night.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good morning, Chuck!  I think I will mow later today as well.  Poptarts were all that was left when it got to my house, but they were fudge flavor so it's all good.

GOOD MORNING

A sunny morning going to the hi 80s,a/c today for sure. No fireworks close enough to keep me awake so I got a normal nites sleep. For you younger guys that means I only woke for the bathroom twice. I don't know what the day will bring but I am ready. Some train running seems like a good idea so one never knows. Have a great sunday wherever you are....S.J.

HI GIZ,

Got up at 600 hrs this morning, took dog for walk.  Ate a banana then went for a 6.5 mile run then finished it up with another mile walk.  Felt good, met 3 other runners this early morning.  A gal and 2 giz.  Came home and rung my shirt out it was cool but humid.  Read Sunday paper, made eggs for my wife and me and one for my dog.  Had turkey sausage, eggs over easy, and toast.

Today gotta do laundry and hang outside on line.

  Maybe run trains.

  B GOOD or B GONE,

Morning All, (afternoon to most)

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.  Spent mine working on Christmas decorations. Cut out a Santa Claus, Toy Solder, Sleight and 9 reindeer, required 2 sheets of plywood, very little scrap.  When complete will represent well over a 20 ft long display for the roof.  Original design was made in the early 60's at my parents house.  We have had it on ours every year.  Currently on the 3rd set.  The sleigh has some packages and a train engine sticking out of the top, the engine number is usually the date of build for the set.  The one coming down is 1192, so 16 years of service, not to bad.  This years will be 3708, commerating the third set, build started  July, 2008.

Also been working on plan for next operating session of the club.  Made a RR track image of the track layout.  Very difficult to get a copy of it to post because it is so big.  The size that ends up posting ends up being so small you cant see any detail.  Had to go through and assign switch numbers to all areas.  Going to "spot" various cars and use a postem note flag to identify various cars.  Will assign a flag color to each operator, and a train card.  The operator will then need to go to specific sidings pickup certain cars, build a consist, then redistribute the cars to other sidings.  Will probably have some other operations going on simultaneously, and will not provide any right of way rules to those building trains.  Need to create a certain level of confusion for "fun".  Probably will have 5 or 6 guys running.

Take care all.

Maybe some may make sense of the layout drawing below, (2 parts)

The far left is our staging area.  We have 6 tracks that are available for setting trains up.  Two main lines run through, with a reversing siding.  The two mains are identified with red and blue track color.  It is possible to switch between the two just prior to exiting the staging area.  (The staging area is seperated from the main layout by a wall.  Outside the staging area where the sidings are all located is our "Harbor" and City Areas.  The tracks all converge near the top and then go to the primary layout areas.  (Next Diagram)

This area has a desert scene along the top, then double backs and forms a peninsula.  the round house and turntable (doesn't work) at the left end.  Then travels to the right and another city area.  The red main goes back to the desert scene and returns to the staging area.  The blue line makes another loop into the mountain area, where a large curved trestle bridge greets all incomers, (door is directly across).  Then goes through a mountain area and rejoins the tracks going back to the staging area.  The Black line that just Stops is in process, and is elevated.  It will run allong the wall, throwing off a On3 line and then end up back in the area of the Harbor.

Right now the best bet is atlas track as they have the 0-36 switches needed for the Super O style layout, not sure how or if able to mate them up to gargraves trackConfused [%-)]

1800 BST in Stockport. Enjoying a good thunder storm, woke me from my recliner just in time to catch the end of heros II, now watching Pushing Daisies-odd!!!

Went to see an old workmate in Yorkshire today, had Cajun chicken tortias and a lager shandy in lovely moorland pub, just made it home before the waters broke. Roads are a lot quieter these days. People are really biginning to feel the pinch here. I'm having to dip into the nest egg more often, still it should see me out, don't intend leaving anything for others to spend, I worked for it and I'll spend it.

If only I had enough room for Lionel? It's very hard work setting up on the lounge floor. The management resents having to dodge the trains.

Afternoon all. I've spent the past few hours trying to put a keypad together after my middle boy dropped my work laptop. Not too happy about that - amazing how the letter O and number 1 are missed.

Jack, the cans and bottles were full. Only one was sacrificed for the advancement of science at the conclusion of the experiments.

Got eaten up by mosquitos last night. A pit bull got away from its owner at the fireworks and attacked our Dauschund, fortunately Rudy was OK. Boy, that dog seemed a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Chief, I knew you knew all about Carolina Bar-B-Q.  I know how to make the slaw and boiled potatoes myself but have'nt figured out how to make home made Bar-B-Q like Eastern North Carolina.  I heard about a place where you could order from in Kinston, N.C. and they will ship you the Bar-B-Q by Fedex for $7.99 per Lb.  They also sell hush puppy mix.  The place is called Kings Bar-B-Q Restaurant.  Here in California, I have not found any Q like back home  or water ground corn meal either.  I have tried making some Q from Pork Shoulder country style ribs but it is'nt the same.   Think I might give that place a try in Kinston.  Ray

I took some on a road trip to Texas one time.  Put it in ice in cooler.  Took the whole works.  Texicans did not like the bar-be-que but loved the burnswick stew.  Texicans are mixed up any way.  Email me an address and I will see what I can do.  May take a while but I have a place here in Raleigh [Bar-be-que Lodge] that has it.  The guy who started it [now retired] use to cook for Parkers in Wilson NC.

Worn out - had dinner with friends at steak and shake though - yummy!  I finished another wall in the basement, staggering the joints (thanks Kurt) with only a cutout needed for an access hole to a shut off valve.  I already bought a cover panel that is spring loaded - pretty neat.  Fireworks are still going off Sad [:(]  Oh well, they'll run out soon.  I'll be back later.  I need to blow some dust off the TARDIS and see if it still flies Laugh [(-D].

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  So close.  That's how close it was today.  Manning muffed a restart and Ryan Hunter-Reay got past him with 9 laps to go.  Still a second place is the best AJ's team has done since 2002 and he moved up to 14th in points.  Hunter-Reay was driving for some one other than Team Red or Team Green and Buddy Rice was 4th.  As far as the Princess is concerned, she was a back marker.  I ran the 318E last night with NO pileups (as Laz would say).  I did weights at the YMCA between races (the F-1 race was earlier), and the wife and I went for a walk this evening.  We also watched the movie "Semi-Pro".  I had bran muffins on the dining car.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening All

Good news/bad news, I made a train buy today from some folks I know, for $100.00 I got a 2026 set with a badly damaged caboose and whistle needs work. An MPC 8142 C&O freight set, pretty decent. Another MPC plastic a/c engine, misc junk, a 50 watt transformer, bag of 027 track and four switchs, and two Ho sets. most everything needs some work. But the real bad news is a Lionel ho Daylite GS-4 freight set with the boxes, engine looks like new But alas a plastic piece of the running gear is broken and no way no how can it be repaired. It holds the steam piston in place and is part of the plastic casting..The only way that engine will ever run would be to remove some of the side rod parts and the piston. So that was my day I figure its still a better buy than some of the new $100. stuff  although I do have some docksiders I like.

OK Brutus fire up the thing and lets party till bed time at least....S.J.

Evening all from sticky Southern Ohio

Home from work and my bride had salmon and potatoes on the grill with green beans and Moleson for supper.

I will be spending a good bit of Monday cutting grass and getting the garden back under control from being away.

Don - The picture you posted of the heralds in your train room are really a nice touch.

Buckeye - The pictures from Nappa Vally are great.  I've not been to that part of California to sight see but it looks beautiful.

Chief- I had the grits straight up, no fixens'.

Good night and may God bless

Good Evening Y'all!

Hope it has been a great day for everyone and a wonderful week ahead.  Got caught up entertaining MIL and her husband this weekend...really cut into train time.  I start call again tomorrow for the next week.  Had a great day at church.  I was on the light board today, which gives the best seat  in the house.  We have a bunch of things coming up over the next several months with the movie and all.

Fife, continued prayers.

Brutus, no problem.  These things happen.

Barbe que, they really take it seriously in these parts.  We went out last night for some great stuff.  Pulled pork and ribs.  I do have to make a trip up to NC and sample some of theirs.  I think a  road trip is in order once we get the personel issue handled.

Well, wife is reading to son, daughter is already asleep.  Time for me to head to bed.  May everyone be blessed this week.

Evening!

Brutus I'm In!

Bride had to have the Wii for the 3-yo today...and it had to happen at dinner time.  Not fun with a hungry/wet 1-yo, but we managed to find one.  3-stores were sold out.  Tried playing carnival games with 3-yo...I think she may still may be a bit young for this.

Has anyone purchased a new Lionel 0-8-0?  Does this one stack up like the Docksider?  I really liked the 1:1 0-8-0 at the Model Railroad Museum, and, after some research on their duties, am looking into this as my next purchase.

Brutus:  Great job on the drywall!  You should be proud!

Sir James:  Sounds like a pretty good deal!

Evening all!'

Back from Tennessee - boating, skiing, swimming, lot's o' food, lot's o' beer, big fireworks display, etc. Great time had by all. Yours truely learned to "wake surf" - riding a surf board in the wake of a custom "wake board" Mastercraft. Very cool! Due to relatively slow speed compared to water skiing- doesn't hurt when one falls.

Buckeye - The missus and I rode the Napa Wine Train many many years ago. All the local farmers and winery's along the right of way had big signs up protesting the wine train. Seems when they resurrected the abandoned rail line the train runs on, all the locals that had private roads/drives/access crossing the tracks were charged for the rebuilding of all the crossings. Since the RoW is owned by the RR, if you wish to cross it due to private access (versus public roads), you may have to pay for the crossing and upkeep. This surprised many folks and they were not happy about it. Glad to see it is still in operation. We enjoyed riding the observation platform - even though the trip is only at about 15 mph.

Chief - glad you got some rain. We drove in it coming home from TN yesterday.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 64 degrees. Sun is trying to break thru. Going up to 85 today with sunshine. No rain.

Today is the usual busy day. I have a bunch of errands to run and then, this afternoon, I will be mowing grass. Need to finish the front yard and hill. By the end of the week, the back will be needing to be mowed again.

No time for trains today. Maybe tomorrow.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Cheerios.

Y'all have a great Monday.
