My LEGACYs arrived Tuesday morning, signed for by Regan. My RA number was 8000500+. If Lionel started at 8000000, then they have sent out more than 500 reuturn authorizations!!! I guess they can send the e-mails or upgrade the units. I prefer the latter myself.

Afternoon all!

Date night tonight!  Probably out to dinner sans kids, for a change.

Still weathering and decking the freight platform...there's a lot to this weathering stuff...trial and error, mostly ink washes, and some acrylic paints and washes.  Hopefully complete tomorrow.

Bride said Wall-E was 'cute'.  When asked to elaborate, she said you couldn't say that about Monsters Inc., or Ratatouille.

I'll be back late, but I'll make the tardis trip.  Careful it rained here the last 2-days straight.

All in mint L/N condition. he had not decided on the prices yet. OK Brutus, where ever you are, come on over....S.J.

Good evening all,

It started off rainy in SE Indiana but turned out to be IIABSDISEI with temps and humidity dropping into the 70s.  We got Lucas registered for his first semester classes.  His schedule should be doable, but he is going to have it hard from the get-go.  On the way home, my wife dropped me off at the soccer game.  Lucas wanted to see his girlfriend so he skipped the game (where did I go wrong with that boy :-)?).  We played well against a good team and only lost 2-1.  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all from Beautiful Southern Ohio

Rains have came and gone and it is to cool off and humidity drop for the next couple of days.

Doug- Now we would not want to damage those little one's self esteem now would we, bleh!  I've got to agree with John.  The whole Dr. Spock thing IMHO is hogwash, and has been a detriment to future generations.  Responsibility, hard work, and ethical moral values are slipping in general, and I hope and pray for a turnaround.

SJ-Sounds like you tapped into a find.  The Old Timer is probably a Franklin 21088 (green and red) or Washington 21089 (blue and gold).  Nice sets

Don- Glad you are back in hot water, no, that's not what I mean, you know!

Mike- I know what you mean.  I remember when I had more hormone activity than brain activity, and I did some bonehead things too.  Just hold on.  Like Doug and Fife, raising teens today is a challenge.  My scars still ache and mine are 25 and 27 now.  I pray for you guys.

All take care and may God bless ( especially you parents!)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 82 today, with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a lot of errands to run and then, I will probably be mowing grass. Need the backyard cut. Rains have made the grass grow quickly. No time for rains today. Darn.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Then, it's rolling again to "points west".

Y'all have a great day.

Mornin' Fellas.

Officially no longer a one-day batchelor... not that it did me any good as I slept the entire time! Sigh [sigh]

After 6 days of hot, humid, rainy weather (which prevented me from mowing the lawn for 1.5 weeks) the yard looks like a miniature jungle and is in dire need of cutting. Guess I'll have to get that done tonight when I get home. We get a reprieve from the 90s we've been having as today's high is projected at 87 Confused [%-)]

Have decided to thin out the rolling stock and possibly the engine fleet. After the masterbathroom remodel remodel is completed I'll have to take a few days and rummage through the bins to see what I can part with.

MikeC - Soccer vs Girls he probably feels that spending time with the GF is more important right now since he won't be seeing much of her in the coming months/years/ever.

Hi GIZ,

60 and beauty of a day here today.  Did just a 2.3 miler today felt great!  Better then yesterdays humidity.  Yesterday with it being 77 and humid with rain on the way I took out 5 of the forsythia bushes.  I have 3 more to do.  Took me just 3hrs. to dig them out.  Great workout, didn't have to lift weights yesterday.  the nice part was the rain coming down for about 20 minutes felt great.  After I was done with the 5 bushes took garden hose and had sort a garden shower by hosing off first sneakers then sox then shirt then me.  I got my shower for the week.Thumbs Up [tup]

Train related, sent out LEGACY last Tuesday got it back yesterday.  Came back with 2 chips for the unit and a 1.2 version manual.  Thanks LIONEL for the fast action.

Today going to take out 1 forsythia bush then take all the roots to our recycling center where they chip it all up for mulch.  Its free here in the township.

Later today going to see if I can win one in GOLF against BRO?

  B GOOD or B GONE,

Mornin' All.

Temps are down a bit but the humidity has been up a bit. Some areas of the state are really having a ruff time of it, if it ain't burning it just feels like it due to heat. A couple of tough losses, two firefighters have lost their lives so far. A volunteer fireman from Cal and a firefighter from Oregon.

On a lighter note, now that the 4th of July train has been dis-mantled it is time to start planning the halloween train . Need some suggesstions for a possible car to use, I got one of the dept 56 characters, the raggedy, skeletol conductor with a lantern and watch. Unfortunately his battery box, two C cells, is two big for the work caboose I wanted to use so now I need to revise my plans, thought it mite fit inside the caboose body. Does anybody have a transfer caboose ? If you do, what are the the length and width of the platforms on either end of the car?

Fife, What happened with Southwest and Phoenix? Must've missed something on the news, eh.

Afternoon all!

Dougsnotagrump:  Here's a link for some SP transfer caboose:  http://espee.railfan.net/cabooses_transfer.html  It seems these are made from all types of cars, so the deck size varies.

Took the girls to the Zoo today, and managed to get grass cut before the rains.  I can hear thunder in the distance.

Hi, Ya'll,

I needed to take a mental health break and decided to drop in.

Spent 2 hours helping the wife with a work-related write up she sent to me unannounced by email at 9am tagged urgent.  I was left with strict written instructions about it's importance, why I had to r&r it, why I had to turn it around fast (by 1 pm), why it had to be perfect, etc.  The good news is that I got it done in time.  The bad news is when I went to save it, I ran into all sorts of password protection roadblocks she had set up on the document level and couldn't save it to my pc.  Don't ask how I could open it and revise it but not save it.  I don't know.  Banged Head [banghead]

Took about an hour to get around that issue, but when I went to attach the revised document to an email and send it back to my wife, the file for her work stuff that I put it in was there, but no document.  Title search.  No luck.  It was nowhere to be found.  Banged Head [banghead]

Panicking up against HER deadline, I tried to get ahold of her.  She didn't respond to my call to her cell.  She didn't respond to my call to her work extension.  She didn't respond to my email.  The pony express as a communication technology was faster and less frustrating.  Grumpy [|(]

It took me another frustrating hour to find the sucker.  That's when I discovered that she has 3 separate sets of "Pam Work Stuff" document files scattered on the hard drive, with the exact same sub file names, and no rhyme or reason to what she put in each.   Not organized by month, year, recipient, the weather, nothing.  You have to go to 3 separate files to find everything for one project, and to access each file you have to take different paths to get to them.  Some files are password protected, some not. Banged Head [banghead]  Finally found my document revision, then shot it off to her and waited for her revised revisions.  Nothing.  Back to the phone routine.  Whistling [:-^]

Finally got to her by having the receptionist walk over to her office and tell her to call me.  Sounded calm and sweet as can be.  "Hi sweetie, having a nice day?"  "Where have you been? Why didn't you return my calls?  Did you get my emails?  What did you think of the write up?  Why do you have the MS Word files on the same topic and subtopic buried in 3 places on the pc?  What's with all the document and file password protection.....are we the CIA here at home?"  Response: "I didn't get to it yet, and I tightened your deadline to make sure you got it done today."  "Today?  You said life and death by 1!!!!"  Banged Head [banghead]

If she walks in the door tonight and complains that I didn't dig out the dead rhododendrons (sp?) today...........AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!  What happened to the expletive smilie?  Angry [:(!]

Jack,
I nearly *** myself reading that post!

Monday I called my Father and he says 'what did you do to the computer and laptop?' 'HUH? I haven't been to your house since January (not thinking) so how could I have done anything?' 'Well I can't get on the internet from the pc and I can't get onto the laptop at all.' 'Have you booted to Safe Mode and run the AVS?' (I have written these instructions down for him all of 20 times and he keeps putting them on his desk and piling papers on top and then cleaning up and throwing everything away) 'No. I don't know how to do that.' Walk him through it all the while he is saying 'Hold on I need to write this down.' Banged Head [banghead] After 2 hours on the phone I told him to call a PC analyst and see if they can figure it out.

FastForward to tonight... call my father and he says, 'I can't talk right now the PC repair guy is here.' Calls me back 1 hour later and tells me the HD has bad sectors on it and the guy took it home to see if he can recover his data from the drive... now when I built this PC for him 3 years ago there was a 100GB system drive and 3 250GB HDs in a RAID for his data files. I reminded him of this and he said 'Yeah so. Don't I still need the system drive?' 'No Dad only if you had files there other than system and application files.' 'OH. So what should have been done?' 'Take the system drive out, install a new one, and restore from the GHOST image on the G: drive... G = GHOST. Remember... where's the paper I wrote all of this on when I built the computer? You put it in your center desk drawer.' 'Hold on... Is it this paper?' 'I don't know what is on the top?' 'System configuration and system restore procedures if system drive (C:) dies. I've been wondering what this meant.' Banged Head [banghead]

Then he asks when Susie-Q and I are coming up since we haven't been back since January. Now this guy can't remember what he did 5 minutes ago, but he can remember an off-hand comment I made 3 days prior? Sigh [sigh] 'August'

Doug, have you thought of getting your rifle with scope, crawling up on the roof, turnning out all the lights, having all the vehicles leave and take out the one[s] doing this????  Which reminds me.  Neighbor says BIG groundhog under his shed.  For me to get rid of him.

No weather alert all day.  First time since Sunday afternoon.  Still looks like rain.  Cloudy and temps in the 80's with 69 dewpoint.

TV time.  Later.

BTW: Railroad expert Jerry Knott [from Miss Edna's] says it is a switch lantern [not car lantern].  The oil pot is missing and so are the rings and lenses.  Thinks Miss Edna might have some.

Boy, it is hard to type when the O key keeps breaking.  Like my new photo? It was brought to my attention that my previous photo was coming up on 10 years old...

Anyone know anything about AT&T's version of cable tv called u-verse - it's coming out in this market. I wonder if its worth a look compared to Comcast. But they're still pushing their sat tv too...

Chief Mayor Frank

My uncle, a Brakeman/Switchman on the P&LE called them "Switchstand Lanterns" as did Frank Curtis who made and sold o gauge turnouts and the little 1/4 scale lanterns. Frank's were constantly lit and mechanically turned from red to green by 'throwing" the switch throwbar.

Nice pic, Doug!  Mine is only about 3 years old now!  Sounds like a cool project to me, Dougdagrump!  No trains today, still under wraps.  Once I get the drywall done in that playroom, I'll uncover them.  Wife wanted shelves up, so I got all the tools.  Then, she and our son realized that the brackets he bought aren't the right color or something, so I got to come back to the computer while they watch H2O - girl tv show.
