HI GIZ,

Muggy here today started out this morning at 68 at 600 hrs.  Took dog for mile walk then ran an easy 3.5 miles came home did a few calistentics situps push ups etc.  Read paper, had tough time getting on forum this mornig.  Going to weed wack neighbor ladies lawn this morning then clean up turtle tank.

CHEAPCLASSICS, we musta been on same page last nite?  I too ran trains and NO PILE UPs here in MILLERSBURG, Pa. all ran smooth.

BRUTUS where DA TARDIS?  Is it in for repairs?  Was watching TV guide channel and they had on the top 100 sexiest women of TV on.  EMMA PEEL came in at number 6.  FYI, didn't know if you knew  that?

Morning.  Cloudy and more rain this afternoon.  Off to big County Commissioners' meeting.  I will be opposing a big rezoning the County Planning Dept wants.  Not popular with all of the people.  Will be interesting.  Senator Jessie Helms' nephew is on the Board and a good friend.  Hope he is there.  Viewing today.  Later

Good Morning

I have not decided my day yet. Slept pretty good except for one nitemare, I dreamed I was back at work and wondering why I was dumb enough to leave retirement and do such an awful thing as returning to work. Now thats scary. I was always greatful that I had a job that paid me every two weeks, but I did that and now its my turn to be old. It happens. I guess I will spend some time with the trains I bought yesterday but no hurry first train show is not till Sept. hmm guess thats not all that far way, sadly.  TTFN....S.J.

Morning All,  Had a lazy day yesterday, so what else is new.  Back to work today, wife and Chris are packing up going to go to Vegas for 2 or 3 days.

Sending the Legacy unit in today, and should be getting a replacement Teather cable I need for a repair job.

Nothing exciting to comment on from here.

Hope everyone has a great day.

All you have to do is align the track up to the transfer table. There is nothing to connect, unless I am missing something?

Mornin' Fellas.

Fife - Prayers still out for your family.

Got the SD-9 back from Trainz, runs much better. They replaced a thrust screw, resecured the boards, removed, cleaned, and lubed the gears (or something to that extent). Top knotch company they have there!

Didn't get anything done on the layout this weekend... why? Because Susie-Q planned a gathering at our place for the last weekend in July, that means the Master Bathroom has to be finished (repaint the trim, remove dental molding (done), paint ceiling & skylite shaft (done), measure, cut, paint, and hang new crown molding), finish painting the shed, stain the rest of the deck. Hopefully we have some dry days soon or the outside work isn't getting done.

Had family over on Saturday for some shish-k-bobs, had to make a run to the store and when I got back there was a water mark on the ceiling in the kitchen under the shower... yep the diverter was leaking again... mixed up some J.B. Weld and applied... no more leak - but no longer can remove the plug either! Big Smile [:D]

Hope all had a good 4th of July weekend.

Chief - you could package some of that bar-b-que, freeze it, and overnight it to me in MD! Wink [;)]

Happy Post 4th of july!

Another day in Paradise, the same forecast we've had for the last 2 weeks; 90's humid PM Thunderstorms. Same ol' same ‘ol.Banged Head [banghead]

Bertha?  Send her over, we need more rain!

The forth was interesting, we left late, missed my usual parking spot, parked near a speaker for the fireworks music, suffered through 4 hours of country music, 15 minutes of fireworks (started at 9:45) got home by 10:30.  We got a quick exit for sure.....Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Saturday installed new closet shelf and hanger, Mrs and I had dinner at the beach and laid on the beach for a couple of hours.  Went to Dairy Queen for ice cream, then Sonic for a nice Cherry LimeAid!!Chef [C=:-)]

Sunday, dropped 2 cars off for servicing, trodded the mall for 3 hours, picked up the cars, sorted my Tubular track for resale (with my C&O 0-8-0), ran the 2037, 2025, Chessie 8633, and the C&O SuperFreight.  Smoked the wife out of the house!Whistling [:-^]

Watched the Yankees beat the BoSox and the Simpsons movie. Could not sleep last night, got 4 hours maybe...Zzz [zzz]Banged Head [banghead]

Slow day today, tomorrow the princess returns from NJ.  Should be FUN!!

Prayers to those in need, and welcome back from vay/cay those who went out (sorry, old timers again!)Angel [angel]

Have a great day

Here's a weird article I stumbled across this morning... The city's last coal dealer, used to be rail served. The spur is disconnected but still railed. Anyone need some anthracite that he can't get rid of...

Good mornin, ya'll,

Survived the extended 4th weekend, neighborhood fireworks ended last night around 11 for the diehards.  Dogs now passed out from the ordeal.  Caught the new Indiana Jones movie Saturday night with wife, tickets $20 and food $21.  Then took her back to my place for a nightcap. Whistling [:-^]  Cookouts at my place Friday and Sunday have left me burnt out on steak, steak tips, pork chops, chicken, sausages, burgers, and dogs.  Maybe chili tonight for a change of pace.  Good choice as it will be 90 degrees for the next 3 days with scattered t-storms. Laugh [(-D]

Kiddies "pooled" it again yesterday, so it's probably time for some serious chemical analysis and treatment before the Board of Health shuts me down!  Nothing floating, a good sign.  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  Like Chief, the recent rain was welcome after a month of nearly none.  And like Chuck, catching up between soakings seems endless....spent 3.5 hours mowing/bagging Thursday, and now it's time to start again.  Wifey and I spent another 3.5 hours radiusing gardens and planting more annuals yesterday.  Never ends.  Pruning next, and wife wants gardens topped with fresh mulch.  Relocating the mulch pile with a wheel barrow is not one of my favorite activities.

SirJames.....us older guys in the know switch to fine sipping beverages after about 7pm to reduce fluid intake and mitigate overnight trips in the dark where you Banged Head [banghead] and toes.

Roy....did you get any action shots you can share of your speedo falling off after taking a spill wake surfing?  Thumbs Up [tup]  Your 6 barrel abs must be a sight.

Brent....I feel your pain.  MIL coming out in less than two weeks and the Marine Corps approach to cleaning and prep goes into high gear this week.Sigh [sigh]

Don....who crawls up on the roof to affix those Christmas decorations each year.  I love tradition as long as it doesn't kill me.  I usually wait until it's +15 degrees with 30 mph winds and snow before I put mine up.  Cool [8D]

Laz....your pup must be in pretty good shape.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Jim/Brutus....what's the latest on the Petco dog food distribution center (Illinois) the FDA shut down a couple of weeks ago because of rhodents?  Our Petco is out of our usual Nutro dog food.  Sad [:(]  Glad the basement project keeps moving in the right direction.

Fifey.....continued prayers. Angel [angel]   This too shall pass.

Later, gang.

I told Susie-Q that we will be going food shopping the night before, and the house can be straightened up in the three WEEKS prior to the gather, rather than the three MINUTES prior to people showing up... and the office IS NOT the household garbage dump... speaking of which I need to get back in there and find the floor again! Sigh [sigh]

This is one of the benefits of moving away from my parents. I am no longer called upon the weekend after Thanksgiving to climb 20 feet in the air in freezing cold temperatures in gail force winds to hang little lights from gutters, string extension cords through trees, climb into the attic to haul 50 large Rubbermaid bins filled with 'fragile' ornaments and decorations, and trapes through the snow planting lawn ornaments in the frozen tundra.

Well, I can tell ya this....the only good thing about living here.....

In mid October, we decorate for Halloween, we set up the back drops and props on the lawn.  Halloween afternoon, we set up the light and electronic effects, like music and smoke.  Weather is usually cooperative, sokmetimes windy, about 75 ish.

Prior to Thanksgiving, I'll make the first run on the Christmas decor....Running the icicle lights from the eaves and the floods.  Officially, the lights go on for Turkey Day weekend, then won't come on again until the first full day of December, by then, the garlands will all be hung outside.

And this will sound weird and still feels weird...I'll do most of the decorating in shorts and a t-shirt...and break a sweat doing it.  When Ephiphany comes, the lights come down, and usually I'll be wearing a jacket...it FINALLY gets cold.

Don't be jealous, decorated in Jersey during a snow storm...and loved every second of it.  Yeah, I'm crazy....

Brent....NO ONE who either lives in or steps foot in my house can leave a room like they found it.  When they do "help," they create four times the work they accomplished "helping." The mail never gets dispositioned ot tossed, not one piece, just moved around the deck of the Titanic.  When you throw it out...."where's that Macy's coupon from two weeks ago?  I needed that.  Why on earth would you throw it out?"   CLUTTER, I hate it.  Organize and clean in advance and you'll have to do it again, several times.  Banged Head [banghead]

Re Christmas decorations, we have a closet that is 8 feet wide by 7'10" high and about 4 feet deep, with shelves.  Jammed with enough carefully packaged Christmas stuff for 3 homes, and that doesn't include ANY indoor or outdoor lights or outdoor decorations (garage attic), nor does it include the boxes of new cards never used or the wrapping paper/bows/ribbons that would last the rest of the decade.  Must keep buying more stuff.  Sigh [sigh]

I could fill a couple of dumpsters with the stuff my wife has thrown into boxes and put in closets, under beds, down in the basement, or in the garage to go through "later."  Later never happens.  Do you need 600 paperback novels or 100 house decorating magazines from the 1980's and early 1990's?

Our wives must be related.  Laugh [(-D]

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps and humidity in the 80s.  I trimmed trees this morning, and practiced a little bit this evening with "my" soccer girls.  I made the final arrangements on a Lionel Classic purchase, and I took the truck in to have the air conditioner re-charged.  I tried to negotiate a trade in on the "infamous" snowblower for a trimmer but they did not offer enough.  I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  Tomorrow we are off to Bloomington (sorry Buckeye) for Lucas' orientation.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all from warm Southern Ohio

Prayers to all who need and want them.

All this talk of Christmas is refreshing when it is 90°F out.  Why in 6 months they will be up!

Her are some pics of last years.

Got my yard and my daughter's yard cut today, and weeded the gardens.  Glad to get it caught up.

Fife- I keep getting over ruled about the flamingos, why I think they have a classy touch!

Jack- Bride has so many clothes in her walk-in closet that the closet maid units have actually bent from the weight of the clothes.  Many of the clothes are from 30 pounds ago and will doubtfully ever be worn again.  Man I hope bride does not see this!

Take care and may God bless

GOOD EVENING ALL

The temp went to 87 and we got our afternoon downpour. No lightning though.

Chicochip I am sure that there are lots of hard thinkers out there that might come up with an idea on how to fix this engine, but I'm not one of them. The broken plastic part is part of the steam chest and I have not had a chance to open it for a look see. And since it was a 1970s lionel HO not much chance for a part. Really a shame as I have the entire set in their boxes with the track in its box and the powerpack. No set box though. I have decided to sell as is with as honest an answer as I can give. At a local show, not through the mail.

And then there is RI52, funny that nite problem, most times I don't even feel the need, its like I am obligated to get up and go. I am afraid it has been downloaded into my programing. Well I did go through some of the other things I got yesterday and it seems most can be put back into working order, so a little time may have things fixed up. BRUTUS I  am going to lite the fuse so stand back or jump in. Banilla for everyone,,,,S.J.

WE WON!!!!!!!!!  [notice the REB gray]   County Commissioners voted to resend the whole agreement.  This was contrary to their Planning Dept's and Planning Commission's recomendation to approve.  We filled the County Commission meeting room and its overflow room.  The public hearing started at 3:30 and lasted until 6:30.  I was the last to speak [planned it that way].  I crawled their Planning Director and then told them how it was.  Told them that we were going to run water lines in the watershed and annex there  too.  If opposed, we would sue.  Told them they had made a mistake in not including the citizens in the process.  When the vote was over, lots of folks [mostly elderly farmers] came by to introduce themselves.  The Wake County Home Builders Assoc. executive director came over and sat down.  "We need you to run for County Commissioner or the Legislature."  "You take no prisoners and you do not hold back."  "You're like Jessie Helms, you let them know how it is."  "Not me, I want to retire," was my reply.  Well, we won the battle but the war is not over.

Hey, nothing Town wise until 2PM.  Have to walk the phase II of the Main Street Park with contractor to make sure he gets the trail right.   Hey, maybe train time.  Need to mow grass as rain has made it go wild.

SP, no email??????  Try again.  Brent, will try that.  Funds a little tight right now as Pro Mariner has NOT paid me for my first weekend in June try to LA.  Contract says suppose to pay in 10 days of receipt of emailed expense account.  Sent on the AM of the 10th.  Knew Yankees could not count.

Good night all.  God bless.

Hot one here today - 100 (102 on my thermometer) and same for most of the week.

Had a nice conversation with Don B earlier today. Thanks for the call Don!

Sort of working this week - but taking time to get some things done. Since we kicked the contractors out last week while we were gone - we are hoping they come back on wed this week. The wife is ready for them to get this done.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Mornin' boys. Mornin' English.  Sunny & 73 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Phish - I would think if someone were to give/send you a set of flamingos as a gift, you would almost have to place them proudly on the premises...

anjdevil - The morning we were leaving the TCA convention, I called 3 passing TCA'rs over to the trunk, with the claim that I got the "best deal" of the convention.  As they stood at the back of my Chevy, I pulled my new babies out of the trunk "4.99, whatcha think boys?"  Wifey said there expressions were priceless.  Hopped into the driver's seat, proclaimed,"WEEEeeeell. My work is done here" and headed back home...

Chief - Funny how a select few seem to think they know "the greater good" for everyone else around them...good job,Sir.

Mornin' Fellas.

I'm a bachelor tonight! Susie-Q is heading out of town for a business trip.

Temps are to get into the 90's today and tomorrow with thunderstorms likely... after tomorrow we get a cool down to the upper 80's! Sucks when you go from mid-90's to upper-80's and that is considered a 'cool down'.

Will say that the weather has been great for field crops. The verdict is still out on the grape harvest as they don't particularly like a lot of water and we're still 9 inches on the plus side!
