It has been a while since I've stopped in.  I've been busy working on a 2020 that I bought on ebay.  By the time I get it done, it'll probably be the most expensive 2020 around.  At $110, it was said to be complete in parts.  Everything from the reversing unit forward was gone, and the motor is short at least 5 bearing balls.  That set me back another $56.  I used to trust that seller, now I am not too sure.

Has anyone ever installed power locks into a car that didn't originally come with them?  My Sunfire doesn't power locks or power windows, and I was considering converting those.

Evening all. I'm looking forward to this holiday. I got nostalgic tonight after running across some ancient paper wargames from my mispent youth. Tracking down more information on them online led to my stumbling upon reviews and comments I made almost 20 years ago. It's weird running across 'yourself' unexpectedly on the web. Going to run some trains after our youngest goes to bed. The bride is out with girlfriends, and the teens are busy too.

Jim, I wish I got powerlocks for our Yaris -

Brutus, Beacon is on...

Good Evening!  It seemed like a Friday today as the OR is closed tomorrow and I have no plans to visit.  I am not on call and I need the rest.  While we only have a little on the adgenda this weekend, I do plan to use some time to hit the trains....been too long.

John Baker, as Ronal Reagan once said "No country ever taxed it's way into prosperity".  It seems we have some on this side of the pond who don't realize that either.

Bride suprised me again and hired a landscape service to come take care of the yard.  While I enjoy the work, these days the time is too precious.
HOpe everyone is doing well this evening.  We had some friends stop by from Florida.  They wanted to purchase one of our old cars, so I had it serviced and all problems taken care of and they picked it up.  Clears a bit of room in the driveway for a new purchase.  I can hardly wait till the kids are driving and we have theirs too.

Well, I hope to check in over the next few days.  May y'all have a blessed holiday weekend.  Just remember to thank those in service.

God Bless,

Dennis

EVENING ALL

Wes I did look at the alarms and the basics were the ones I was refering to.I think even the $19.95 would do the job and with a little luck last longer than the el cheapo I  tried

I received a bay purchase today first buy since Feb. the item was ok but the seller won't post feedback unless I post first. I told him no,you first and I'll be right behind. I know its a problem for sellers but I have had sellers not post for me as well. It was a half day of clouds turning to sun this PM. 76 forcast for tomorrow and 80s for sun and mon. before more storms get here. Man where are they coming from? More burnt offerings on tab for tomorrow afternoon, sat and sun still not finalized yet.  OK Brutus fire it up and lets go,banilla for everyone......S.J.

Happy 4th, John!

Guys, we had big storms last night and actually only got online for about 15 minutes after 10 PM, just enough to download emails and make sure nothing that needed an immediate response arrived, then shut down.  Jack was right, there were some bad storms around us and one guy I know lost some video equipment to a near miss on his house.  I guess it was just enough to scramble his receiver?  Did get a call from Sir James and talked until time for kids to go to bed during the storm last night.

Work went well, new trainees are great and having a lot of fun too.  I think that it will get interesting soon, as they will run out of review work and be into new material before they know it.

TARDIS is warmed up and ready to fly, so I'll just tune into your beacons and be there in a few minutes.  TTFN!

Doug,

When I bought the car, the fact that it lacked power locks and windows didn't bother me.  Now it does.  I rushed when I bought this car, and I should have waited.  If I had the money, I'd be on a plane to Miami.  I saw a drop dead gorgeous 1996 Probe GT from a dealer in Miami on ebay motors this week.  Looks like it just rolled out of Ford's plant in Flatrock, Michigan.  Only has 49,793 miles on it which beats  189,286 on my 97 GT!

Evenin' All,

Blueberry, Have you heard from Buckeye lately. Wonderin' if he have some splainin' to do, he makes a trip to S.F. and the next thing we hear is the Mayor announces the formation of an exploratory committee to run for governor. He's even wackier than the Speaker of the House, Ms. Pelosi. But they come from the same general vicinity, what more can one say. Disapprove [V]

Hopefully everything is packed and ready for tomorrow, so tired right I can't remember if I forgot anything or not.

Let's see: two gons with hot dogs, six ore cars w/hamburgers, one ore car each of chopped onions, mac salad, baked beans, & pickle relish, one 4bay hopper w/mustard and catsup squeeze bottles and one flat with a Happy B-Day [bday] America billboard.

Almost forgot, none of this suff is edible unless you like plastic and vinyl but if by chance you did eat a dog or burger best hope you don't get gas. You'd sound like the "World's Largest Squeek Toy". Laugh [(-D]  Clown [:o)]  Whistling [:-^]

Have a very happy 4th and play safely. Grumpy [|(]

Woo hoo! Why wait? Let's visit Michaels in the Tardis tonight - Well, I figured out Percy can't pull 5 coal trucks full of real coal. It's not that he doesn't have enough power - his couplers aren't strong enough. The iron pyrite didn't help either... ;)

I experimented with placing the coaling platforms in several places. Also ran the K-Line Plymouth and coal cars...

I will be the first to say Happy 4th on the 4th.  Who woke me up from the recliner?  Off to bed as soon as I wait thirty miuntes from taking a 81 miligrain.  Then take med with applesause.   Thanks Rock.  Info forwarded to buddy.  Hot dogs for first wife an myself.  Second wife coming with veggie burger.  That will be all we are cooking for this year.  Crowd coming here later with deserts.  Will probably have in the thousands in town to see fire works.  Only a dozen or so here at house to watch over back fence.  BTW: no signs of groundhog. Good night all.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 54 degrees. Been raining all night. Some thunder. Going up to 75 today with rain all day. Yuk.

Today is a less busy day. Can't finish mowing. Looks like an indoor day. I will be running trains later. Not going anywhere this weekend. Just staying home and relaxing. Not much else new here.

Doug....I heard from Buckeye last night. He got to ride in the cab of the engine of the Nappa Valley Wine train. He has taken a lot of pictures to post. Must be nice.

Dining car is here early. Breakfast. See ya later.

Y'all have a great Fourth of July.

Happy Independance Day!

We're back from a week with the in-laws...Great time!  Kids went to a couple of Zoos, and I was able to take in some trains...Both Toy and the real thing.  At least I'll have something for Sunday Photo Fun, for a change.

Found an incredible hobby/train store in St. Paul, Scale Model Supplies.  Included an excellent selection of building materials, some PW, mostly new stock, about 50 linear feet 6' high of modern Lionel cars, and an excellent selection of accessories.  Everything priced at MSRP.

Managed to finish 'Playing with Trains' by Sam Posey.  Mike C. and a few others may remember the name from the '70's sports scene.  Very well written, book about his construction of a layout.

Sir James:  eBay sent something around saying sellers couldn't post comments on buyers...Did that get recinded?

Morning.  Goofing off.  Drinking coffee and watching hunting on the Outdoor Channel.  Just finished Gene Autry on Westerns Channel.  waiting for the newspaper.  Was not delivered again for 8 weeks in a row.  Seems they can not get this guy to deliver on Friday.  Will do our 4th thing later.  Have a good and safe one.

We picked him up last night and he was telling us about apartment hunting.  He and his buddy were out riding near Roslyn, VA and saw a sign for new rentals so they went in and inquired about the price.  The rent was $5200 a month for a two bedroom, two bath apartment. Needless to say, they left in a hurry and looked elsewhere.  He is frustrated that none of the places were answering phones the last few days (my guess is that they were closed for the holiday or on vacation) .  He has left messages but no call backs. It's tough for young folks trying to find a place near DC.  His roommate insists on Northern VA near a metro stop and my son really doesn't want to live in a trashy apartment building with bugs, etc. Plus, he doesn't have a JOB yet.

Good morning!  Happy Fourth of July!  Gotta put up some shelves in my son's room then later we go to my folks' house for a few hours for BBQ.  Need to clean some dust off my track and run some trains today, too!

Mitch - good luck to your son.  I know many people who work in DC and have a very long commute from VA etc.  Hard to believe how expensive housing can be, isn't it?  I hope things fall in place for him very soon.

I'll be back in a little while....

HI GIZ,

Rainy here today and we need it.  Got half inch last nite.  That is a good thing, bad thing was had to watch fireworks from house.  We are about 2 miles away from the SUSQUAHANNA river and saw all the high boomers.  Nice display again, just wet outside, watched them from the backyard with umbrella or as YUZ GIZ from ENGLAND say under the BUMPERSHUTE.

Played GOLF against BRO last nite and did get close to winning.  We were tied after the 9th hole and I lost in a chipping contest,DRAT!  0-8!  Oh well maybe next week.  Had cookout with wife last nite.  Burgers and dogs and oh yes OL MIL.

BUCKEYE TGIF!!!  DID you get to touch anything in the cab of that engine you were riding on in NAPA VALLEY?  You weren't drinking and driving?  Were you?

Go to pick up my SOCOM tonite at local gun shop.  Also going to purchase my hunting license for the upcoming season.

  B good or b gone,

It's the Fourth of July and Buckeye is at Truckee, California.

We have toured the California State Railroad Museum at Sacramento, CA.  It is a great museum, but they need to increase their collection of vintage diesels.  The 1880's steam locomotives are fabulous!

A trip to Muir Woods and the coast was a contrast in weather.  The coast was very cold and windy.

Yesterday, Mrs. Buckeye made me ride the Napa Valley Wine Train.  They also made me ride in the cab back to the Napa Station.  They made me sit on the left side of the cab in the old fireman's chair.  I had to wave at all the people drinking wine at the winnery's we passed.  I had to climb down from the cab on the ladder.   I only took two hundred photos of the ride including video.  I hope Mrs. Buckeye doesn't make me ride Amtrak from Truckee to Sacramento because I will need to buy a new memory card for the camera. Morning all. Another beautiful cool day here! Wow, I am jealous, Buckeye. Kurt, welcome back - I enjoyed that Posey book - I loved his characterizations of some of the big names in model railroading. He's a thoughtful author.  I filled the Polak Coal trucks with glittering iron pyrite last evening but Percy had a hard time pulling them.

Happy Fourth - the bride is soaking brats in beer and cooking up enough teriyaki chicken to feed an army of one - me!

Thank you to those of you who have served or are serving inthe military, helping to guarantee we can celebrate days like this.

A great FORTH of July to all

Kurt- it was my understanding that sellers could not post neg. comments about buyers. that may not be the case as everytime I read about some change it just becomes more confusing.

We have a sunny morning going into the 70s this PM. looks like a good day for burnt offerings at the grill. Which we will do later with some of the family and friends. We have so many neighbors shooting fireworks that going anywhere to see them is not necessary. Good thing they are illegal or the whole block could disappear. Happy Fourth,,,,,S.J,

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Mornin' lucky Ohizoans gettin' rides in engines.  Mixed bag of weather in the Mid-Atlantic region, with thunderstorms coming across state.  Hope to get the fireworks in, so I don't have to work tomorrow night as well.

Been dealing with a personal crisis (DIF) since Monday, which really took the wind out of my sails this week.  Boy needs your prayers.

Pictures from VERMONT are loaded, and hopefully can post them on a thread or two soon.

HAPPY 4th!

Praying for you Fifey and your circumstance.

Sir James, it's like a war zone here - lots of (illegal) fireworks all weekend - I'm going to be picking up a lot of bottle rockets from the yard next week.  The big ones are sure scary - espec. at 11 pm.
