I'm getting a little concerned about you !!!  With all the recent discussions about grits, and you southern folk aruguing 'bout them, then the Chief buying big drawers.  It really bothers me to see the type of influence you are having to ward off.

Been real busy out here the past couple of days.  We've gotton over 2" of rain, and had power out most of last night.  (Almost as bad a Arizona, clouds, no power.)  Did get quite a bit of work done in train room, including some wiring.  Put up a couple of shelves, hung some curtains,   Would have put more shelves up, but need to do some sanding and painting, and not the best weather for that, so will have to wait.  The more shelves up the less "stuff" I have to keep moving around.  Didn't get a chance to actually run any trains, just working which was great.

What's going on here.  (BTW Chris goes in Wednesday for a Deviated Septum surgery, should be out within a couple of hours.)

Nick & John B - Hope you fellas can look past this "grits" thing, actually is was a secret weapon that was going to be used during the Civil War, and ended up being masked as southern delicacy to save face. 

Kurt - I think I have a special waiver on the OTTS dues, as a result of the Kids Club  I'm seting up at the AGHR club here in LA.

I contacted Bergie about changing my screename to Grayson. I asked Bob and he wouldnt do it.

No but Terry Cambell [one of the Miss Edna guys] has and they work great.  Never had time to hook mine up [still in the boxes].  Extended all my switch controllers to a central place.

Grayson is a lot better than Blueson.  Got the color right.

Off to bed.  Just saw forecast for the week.  Above average temps [high 60's to 70's] and maybe record highs.  Rain at the end of the week.

It is a very mild 55 degrees. Cloudy.  Going up to 68, today with maybe some sunshine later.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of errands to run and a few things to do around the house. No time for trains .  Spent some quality time in the train room, yesterday, putting some scenery plans together.

Well, Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Then, it is off to a run to " points west ".

It is warm and cloudy in SE Indiana with temps heading to the 60s today.  I was awake all night with a sore throat and cold, but fortunately I did not have to drive today.  I will probably go to bed tonight when I get home and not go in tomorrow.  The only reason I came in today was I have some tasks which have to be done today.  Tmcc man, glad to hear you are doing better.  Welcome to all the newcomers to the 'pot.  You will find it to be an interesting place.  Dining car arrived from "Points East" with the usual fare.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Fife - I like Nick's pullout drawers for the command center, but I want mine exposed... don't ask why - that's how I've always liked it and since some friends prefer 'hands-on' opperation and since I like to drive them that way too, I think I'll go with an exposed commandcenter.

While in Pittsburgh this past weekend I stopped at my friend's place to do some train dropoffs.  He showed me some cable that looks VERY promising for layout use, now just have to find a distributer...

Stopping at Home Despot tonight to purchase lumber for layout...

Foggy and overcast in Jax, South GA. Supposed to be a warm day. Good day for laundry and I need to do lots. Probably no "Toy" trains for a while. Took down Christmas tree last night. That and some old lugustrum bushes were gone before I got up. More bushes to cut up. Heading to Indianapolis at the end of the week: Silver Meteor, Lake Shore Limited, Cardinal. Then Cardinal to NYC, Silver Meteor home a week later. Will be waiting for new box cars that I ordered last Friday.Looking forward to the New Haven Lionel Alco set that is supposed to ship sometime this month. (LCA set).

Morning from a grey and warm Chicago - can't recall a January day in the high 50s. Ran trains with the youngest last evening. Percy didn't derail. No pile-ups as Laz would say. He kept stopping the boys to chat with them as they rolled by. Sir Hatt was not amused by the confusion and delay  

The President is in town today - going to be just a few buildings away - so I guess I can't walk down to Powells bookstore at lunch.

Drat, and here I was going to 'stop by' Rich's abode whilst he was in Jersey to 'borrow' his Atlas trolley.

Fife, I was re-reading your article on the commute in today. It was fun to linger on your photos to pick details out. Great work!

Dennis, It would be fun to see the other side of film-making. I used all sorts of camera and light tricks during services yesterday.

As others have noted, IT"S WARM TODAY!!

Considering that we had below zero wind chills last Wednesday and Thursday night, today it's in the middle 50's and tomorrow is supposed to top 60!!

Rest assured it will not last, this time last year we were on the golf course in shirt sleeves and then it got cold and snowy through early March.


Tree is down and mulched, so now the Menard's WC Set can run on the "main line".

I just noticed that Wake County led the State in Deer/Vehicle Colllisions with 942 in 2006[last stastical data]. Guilford County was 2nd with 602. No numbers on how many Norfolk Southern has nailed.

Perhaps you should train Rudolph, Bambi and the flock you feed at the lake to walk facing traffic and then only travel in the daytime. According to the State Patrol, 6 p.m. until midnight is prime contact time along with pre-dawn. Supposedly, Dec and Jan represent the final two months of frequent deer movement in N.C., but------Your State Wildlife buddies and the statistics say the deer ain't got a calendar!
